This is an outstanding diner for what it actually is. Asian couple running an American diner that is super consistent and very good. I typically order the same few things and it's always good. You literally can't find fast food this reasonably priced anymore. The owners are super friendly as well. It pains me to give out a one star review and I don't give these out lightly. The prices are fine, the food was fine, the servers were what you expect at a diner. Why the 1 star review? Well, when you have an open kitchen area and the cook isn't wearing gloves and handles the toast, the bacon and whatever else he was handling, I was grossed out. Yes, this can happen at the finest dining establishments but when you are so blatant about it just yuck! The bathrooms were on par with dirty dining and should've been the first red flag. I stopped at Sunny's for the first time yesterday with my brother (my treat) while my car was getting work completed down the street. I'll be back for sure. The place was pretty busy when we popped in but service was fast and friendly. Multiple coffee refills, patience from the server while we talked over thick, rich French toast, eggs and bacon. The location was a little odd, situated in a gas station building with a Dunkin' Donuts attached but once inside, a lot like Monk's Cafe in Seinfeld or any of a thousand in the same fashion. Prices? Good! Service? Great! Quality? Pretty good? On the last day of my trip to Raleigh, I decided to have a traditional American breakfast. I whipped out Yelp and Sunny's was the closest diner to me. I ordered the eggs with NC Country Ham and Hash browns. Everything except for the Country Ham were perfect. The ham is sliced to around 1.5mm thickness (1/16") and you only get two pieces. This ends up being the consistency of bacon and almost unidentifiable as ham when eating. Service however was amazing. I was offered coffee and proactively offered a switch if I did not like it and they kept my coffee hot, with my getting topped off any time I was an inch down. I will be back, but I will not get the country ham unless I can guarantee that it will be cut thicker. Even one 3mm thick piece would have been preferable, though I would have still felt cheated. read more

The rest of the food was bland and very generic tasting.
