It's been a while since I had Lonerider's beer and at one point it slipped my mind to write a review about it but then I realized there was still a review I haven't posted yet for the brewery and decided to rectify that oversight. We had three different beers from this brewery, one in which appears to be no longer in production. The discontinued one was a pale ale by the name of Peacemaker. It was refreshing and enjoyable to have. Flavor features with this beer are that typically seen with a pale ale which are hoppy, malty and sweet. The beer is very light bodied which is nice and very smooth. Unfortunate that it's out of production. The other two beers we had are still being made. One was Shotgun Betty which is a Hefeweizen. Not bad but sometimes I struggle with Hefes and the strong banana clove flavor which was the case here. It was good that it was light bodied like most Hefes are and smooth also. The final beer was the Sweet Josie Brown Ale which I think was my favorite. The sweet, malty and coffee flavors are very enjoyable and like the prior two beers a nice smooth body to this fine dark beer. I am glad I recalled this brewery experience as I felt it was important to post the beers we had and what we thought of them! read more

This is a hidden gem for Durham! Although it's not a new brewery (the first one is in Raleigh), it's new to Durham. It is tucked away and behind a restaurant. They have a large beer and mixed drinks offering. The service is top notch. When I went there with a friend, I asked about sitting outside and the GM lit a fire for us. Came here for their Oktoberfest and it was a lot of fun. There's plenty of parking. You could buy of course a pint or you could buy a huge sign for $20 and only pay $10 for a fill up. There was a band there a volunteer a German band that helped make the vibe feel very Oktoberfest. They were contests and just dancing. There are also two food trucks this location doesn't make food themselves they always bring food trucks in. read more

Nice quiet tucked away brewery we visited on a Sunday afternoon. Weather was perfect and we ordered seltzer. I ordered the watermelon seltzer which was quite refreshing. They had a el toro alebrije taco truck that looked very good also. Definitely will come back to check it out further as they had a lot on tap. read more

Great selection of beers! They serve a wide range of ABVs so there is literally a beer or seltzer for everyone. If you aren't into beer or seltzer ... they also serve wine and mixed drinks. My pick of the night from this brewery is the Pilsner. They have food trucks as well. We went on a Thursday and they play music bingo - quite fun. Only set back is the location, it is in the middle of nothing. This place has a good vibe and good beer. Go support this local brewery. And, the merch and logo are really cool. read more

Lonerider has been expanding, they now have taprooms in Wake Forest and Five Points. My favorite beers are Shotgun Betty, Hoppy Ki Yay and Addie's Revenge. I miss coming here before kickball but don't miss coming here during COVID. Those coming in from the outside area were wearing masks properly but those inside were a different story. There were a few people walking through the place with no mask on which made us feel uncomfortable since it is smaller inside. A few also didn't follow the door rules on where you enter and exit. This place did not disappoint. It was on the smaller scale of a brewery, but overall a nice little spot. I had the shotgun betty and it tasted great! Had a nice toasty flavor to it. They had a food truck out there which I love seeing breweries that do this. Also, they had porta potties you could use, which were cleaned and well sanitized. Not to mention beside the porta potties was a place you could wash your hand with actual soap and water, not just hand sanitizer. The weather was perfect as well! read more

This is a great place to meet a group of friends, as its right off of Brier Creek, but it's not in the middle of the strip malls. Plus, they have their own beers, and even a few glasses of wine for the non-beer drinkers in the group. There is an inside area by the bar with a dozen or so tables, which is air conditioned for the hot summer days, but an outdoor area and patio for the nice days. We stopped at Lonerider in the Raleigh Durham airport hoping to have dinner before our flight. No one should repeat this mistake. While they have a menu, you are not likely to confuse what they deliver for actual food. We ordered sandwiches and received cold vending-machine fare reminiscent of rejected airline offerings; they actually came in the sealed wrappers. To add insult, they charged $15-$18 dollars for each "sandwich". This is a place for watered-down drinks, anything else will only make you lose your will to live. Avoid at all costs. read more

This is my least liked brewery in the area. We got 2 flights covering almost all their beers. They didn't have deadwood that day (which I've had earlier at a pub). Deadwood is a really good nitro imperial stout. However they didn't have it anymore and none of their beers came close. The lighter beers and IPAs all felt very generic and lackluster. At least 6 beers were MEH. That's a lot for my liking..The staff is fine- the brew just isn't that good. Tons of place around offering nicer options flavor-taste and variety wise. They had a Maine lobster food truck on ground and it was just bad luck we had shellfish allergy in our party that day so we relied on beer and snack. read more

We were passing through Raleigh on a Friday afternoon and there was a major traffic back up... 45+ min per the map app and no way around it. So we pulled off and found the closest brewery which was Lone Rider LoneRider is pretty easy to find and right off a main road. They have some street parking and I think they have a lot across the street but I am not sure. If that is not their lot, parking on a busy day could be an issue. There was a food truck there when we stopped in and they had a tent set up outside with several tables under it. They also had some uncovered outside seating as well. The interior bar area is not large and there are just a few tables inside. There was a cornhole game going on and this place is dog friendly as there were dogs all over. They had a pretty large beer selection. Since we were just wasting some time, we got a flight with to try some options out. Out of all the beers we tried, I think we liked the Pilsner the best.I read more

I'm really not used to how cheap beer is when you're outside of NYC. Definitely not complaining though. My boyfriend and I came in with his brother and his wife at around 2 on a Friday, which is when their tasting room opens. They have about 10 different beers on tap. We tried the Shotgun Betty Hefeweizen, the Deadeye Jack Stout, the porter, a raspberry noted one, and the Sweet Josie Brown Ale. I wasn't a fan of the first four. They each had a certain something that tasted off about it. However, i really enjoyed the Sweet Josie. They also have some pretty cool souvenir beer glasses that you can purchase. And at $3-$4, it doesn't break the bank. Unfortunately, since they only offer tours on Saturdays (2-5), we didn't get the chance to see where the magic happens. read more

FREE BEER!!! Did I get your attention?! Yep, those are two magical words and the brewery tour at LoneRider was jammed on Friday night with 80+ people. I go back to a day when bars would have some meager beer choices: Bud, Miller and ooooh, Michelob... Nowadays, you've got five great microbrew choices in Raleigh alone! LoneRider is one of the newer breweries in the Raleigh area (Big Boss, Aviator, Boylan Bridge, and the soon to come Natty Greenes) and a good one. Inside, there was a full-on scrum in front of the beer bar but people were all really cool and happy. Hard to complain when you're getting two free brewski's right? I had a wonderfully smooth Sweet Josie Brown Ale and a Peacemaker IPA with some nice bite. Hmmm, beer! The LoneRider space is typical of most breweries: concrete blocks, lots of plumbing equipment and functional industrial decor. The LoneRider staff people were all really helpful and polite, bonus there! The brewmaster took the crowd through a tour of the equipment and a detailed explanation on how LoneRider makes their brews. LoneRider's tasting room is open Thursday to Saturday and tours are given weekly on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. A great way to spend an hour if you're in the hood. And if you know any gals who would look great in cowboy boots while toting a shotgun, LoneRider is still on the lookout for their Shotgun Betty spokesmodel! What can I say but fresh beer ALWAYS tastes great and even a little bit better when its free. So thank you LoneRider for slaking the thirst for all of us wannabe-outlaws! read more

We just left lonerider 5 minutes ago after sitting at the bar for over 10 minutes and not being served! We are regular customers on the weekends and Monday nights! 1st time on a Thursday! Tried to get bartenders attention multiple times. Served many customers who arrived after us! Our last attempt to get his attention we were told he had to serve another group because they were there first! They had just walked up to the bar. We are older so maybe he didn't care! Lonerider at Oak Island, as we are from out of town but come here for my husband's job, we went there this evening not knowing that it was no longer the Fish House. That the previous owners of the building had sold it and that there was now new owners. Disappointment was what we felt in the food. Since the new restaurant, we'll pub, didn't offer the crab dip that was a favorite of ours with the previous owners, we decided to get their Fish and Chips. At first we thought, this sure is big pieces of fish. After cutting into it we realized that the breading on it was really thick, like close to 1/2 inch thick. No taste in the breading or fish, really bland. We were totally disappointed and will never go there again and will be telling our friends about the place, if they haven't been there already. read more

This is a great place to come relax with friends and enjoy a beer. We usually hangout for an hour or 2 on a nice sunny day and bring our dog. Very pet friendly and a lot of people brings their dogs, so be sure your dog is friendly! It's also kid friendly. There's always a food truck on site to get a quick bite and you can bring in outside snacks if you want. Be sure to try a beer flight to sample seasonal offerings. Most recently their hibiscus and citrus beer was a hit with our whole group. read more

It might be because this was the very first brewery I had ever been to or because they have my favorite beer of all time, Shotgun Betty, but this place reminds me of my favorite drinking spot. As a matter of fact, it is my favorite drinking spot. There's plenty of outdoor space, the bartenders know your name and often times there's a food truck here to fill your belly while downing one of their delicious beers. Don't know what you like to drink? Don't worry! Try a flight or ask the bartender for a recommendation. The beers aren't too complex but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've lived in Brier Creek for over four years and have always wanted to try this place. I'm definitely a low key, organic fun, brewery kind of girl. I think that because I couldn't mentally place the location, I never really made an effort to visit. Today, I found that I've really been missing out! The location is actually really easy to find - right off of 70 and Westgate. There's ample parking, and a welcoming entrance set up with picnic tables, a tent and everything that you need to gather with friends. I was solo, so I went inside and found a seat at the bar and ordered a flight. The bartender was just great and very attentive. I tried the Sundance, Hoppy Ki Yay, Peanut Butter Sweet Josie and Deadeye Jack. My favorite was the Sundance. It's a grapefruit saison and a must try! The atmosphere was laid back, fun and friendly. I ended up chatting with a couple at the bar for almost two hours! They had their two kids with them and they seemed to be having fun playing around inside and outside of the taproom. This place is definitely pet and family friendly, and I'm so glad that I decided to stop in. I will be back and look forward to frequenting the taproom on a more regular basis. read more

Lukewarm reception on a Thursday afternoon not withstanding...the strict enforcement of their dog policy could have been palatable except for the terse tone. As we walked out to the picnic tables, we couldn't help but feel unwelcome. Is there really a difference between "inside" and "outside"? Nope, not at this place. Lonerider happens to brew one of my favorite easy drinking beers in the US. Sweet Josie Brown! So I finally got to visit the brewery quite by accident. I was waiting for my reservation for dinner, and opened the Yelp map in the area. Lo and Behold! There was Lonerider Brewing Co. Score another one for the Yelp map!! The taproom is around the back of the building and a little on the small side. They have several beers on tap and $4 pints can't be beat. I of course had my Sweet Josie and we also tried another brew for her called Madame a lighter beer infused with raspberry. Certainly a warmer weather beer. Not my favorite but I can certainly understand the appeal. There was also a food truck out back for those who wanted a bite to eat. I think this time it was a Japanese dumpling truck. I strongly encourage you to get by there and check it out, and see why I love the beers here. read more

We all know that Lonerider makes some of the best beer in the Triangle. But to have it on-location is definitely a fun experience. Bartenders are nice, prices are fair and growler deals are good! Thought I will say, now that it's a little colder, the "hideout" isn't 100% enjoyable unless you're bundled up. But there's still plenty of seating and a food truck outside to keep you chummy. This is also the first brewery I've been to in the area that isn't totally overrun with kids. It's a nice perk, especially if you're on a Tinder date :P read more

I went with four stars because they had a somewhat limited menu on the Saturday that we came here. I believe they were missing 3 of their normal beers on tap so the selection was a little tough. However, I really liked the outdoor atmosphere. It's a perfect place for an afternoon drink in the sun. In addition, the food truck that they had on the property that day was amazing (they rotate). If you are in the Raleigh/Durham area and like beer this place is a MUST visit. The Shotgun Betty and Sweet Josie are my personal favorites, but the Deadeye Jack is a close runner up. What really seals the deal for me here is the experience. I went this past weekend while visiting a relative and had the opportunity to meet Jackie, the bar manager and inspiration behind the Shotgun Betty persona. Even if I didn't like the beer I would give this place 5 stars because of her alone! Add killer beer to an awesome experience and I wish I could give this place 6 stars! I highly recommend it! Came to Lonerider after going to Frankie's for some outdoor fun. I've been wanting to come here for a while as I'm a fan of the brews of theirs that I've tried since moving to the Triangle. Glad we came! When you turn off the road, Lonerider is sort of tucked away right down the hill. The gravel parking is enough for plenty of cars. We walked around back destined for taps, and sat at the bar inside the enclosure. Ended up getting 3 beers and a taster flight with my gf. Overall really delicious beers! I tried some new ones and was impressed on their aroma and taste profiles! We drank: A Sundance saison, Hoppy Ki Yay, Hop em High imperial and a flight of Shotgun Betty, Tres Vaqueros tripel, Blood Orange Hoppy Ki Yay, and Deadeye Jack Porter. The only beer that I didn't thoroughly enjoy was the OG HKY. Other than that all the beers were very enjoyable. Overall, Lonerider is located a bit off the beaten path in relation to the city but that's what the Wild West was, off the beaten path. There were plenty of people enjoying tasty brews and an overall great vibe. We will be coming back. read more

Stopped by Lonerider as it was close to my hotel. I was only in town for one night before a flight out. This is a very solid brewery. I had the IPA, Hefe, and Double IPA. All were excellent. Two immutable laws of beer 1) The more beer - beer - has around it the better it is. Cans/bottles being the worst, kegs being the best. 2) The closer to where the beer is brewed it is drunk the better it tastes. You can ship beer overseas, cool it down, warm it up. Shake it around and still drink it - its a liquid - it can do that - however with each mile, day and temp change comes a slight taste change. None for the better So with Lone rider you get both 1 and 2, and *at least their shotgun betty* has a decent recipe too. I stopped off to buy a keg for a party tomorrow night and there was a pretty fun (albeit busy) scene going on. Beers 3 dollars, growlers etc all the way up to kegs for $132. Many US microbreweries tend to the gourmet or fancy beer,- which brings up to a 3rd beer law - beer should be simple (not a champagne, not a double triple raspberry chocolate stout). Beer is like bread, a good bread is simply made with great ingredients - the taste is fine without adding raspberry, coffee, banana etc. Lonerider seems to get this (at least in the two beers I tasted).. read more

I'm really glad we got to stop here for a few beers. The tap room is small, with a few tables and a dozen or so bar stools, and there's a large covered outdoor seating area as well. It looks like it would handle quite a crowd. I'm pretty sure during our time there that we tried almost every beer they had, with the exception of one that was out when we arrived. My clear favorites were the Sweet Josie and the Pistols at Dawn, with honorable mention to the Peacemaker Pale Ale and the Eve amber. The bartender handled our orders efficiently (I felt a little bad, the first part of the evening she was pouring a lot of flights) and on the whole, the place has a friendly, comfortable vibe that I enjoyed. read more

Flights of beer are available for a reasonable price if you want to taste some of their classic and seasonal offerings, and they attract a reasonably solid rotation of food trucks with a canopied area available to eat in. The tap room is small but friendly, and service is quick and courteous. It's definitely a stop off the beaten path, but one worth doing if you're a fan of good local brews. read more
