If you're heading to Raleigh Iron Works and think Ponysaurus is just another brewery, think again. The Chicken Schnitzel completely exceeded my expectations. The chicken was perfectly crispy, thin, and juicy, while the fresh arugula salad added just the right peppery bite. The roasted fingerling potatoes were seasoned perfectly and rounded out a simple dish executed exceptionally well. Ponysaurus Brewing Co. serves the schnitzel with arugula, fried red potatoes, celery, red onion, parsley, and a whole-grain dressing, and it all comes together beautifully. Of course, the craft beer selection is what gets you in the door, but don't overlook the kitchen. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service was friendly, and the food easily holds its own against many restaurants in Raleigh.
We went to the Oktoberfest to see the wiener dog race, but it was so crowded we couldn't see anything. We decided to grab a beer and something to eat. I did like that they were serving beer outside but that line was so long! I needed going inside and placed the order for beer went back out and my friend was still 10 people back waiting to be served. After we walked around to check the different restaurants we chose Ponysaurus. Let me tell you how to do it, because no one shared it with Mez I'm not sure if they are always this crowded but we were waiting in line( thinking to be seated) come to find out it's first come, first served. We grabbed a table, and we were waiting when a lady came up and asked if we need anything. We informed her we had an open tab from earlier and could we order and just add to tab. She said yes, and then disappeared. We saw the QR code on the table and figured we must have to order from there. Which means we could not add to current tab. We ordered the Caesar salad, burger and fries, broccoli and the chicken schnitzel salad. The place is nice, I heard they have an upstairs but it had been booked for a wedding shower or something. They also have outside seating, but the inside downstairs was maybe 4 booths and 8 tables. A lot of people were standing and eating.the food arrived fast, I didn't care for the chicken schnitzel in the salad, it needed more seasoning. The burger was good, the fries are curly fries, I'm not a big fan of those either, but it does come with a lemon aioli that was good. Since I asked for mayo on the side I used the aioli on my burger. The Caesar salad is romaine lettuce it on fours, and it was okay. The best thing was the broccoli! Next time I would tell them to put the little sauce on the side, or no sauce at all. It's a nice place for drinks, and maybe an appetizer. When we were ready to leave, I went to the bar to get a box for the food and they pointed to the shelf where you help yourself. It's pretty much a self service place.
Don't let the name fool you! This is an awesome place. There seemed to be a lot of locals possibly from the residences above. A dog friendly outdoor space which is always a plus for dog lovers. They do have a food menu but we just made a quick stop for a beer. The pizzas looked delish. The staff was super nice and they were all super attentive. The bartender really took her time to talk through their beer selection making sure we picked the perfect pint. Would highly recommend putting Ponysaurus on your brewery to do list in Raleigh.
Meet some friends at Ponysaurus one night and liked it so much we took family who were visiting from out of town a few weeks later. I've also been to the Durham location, check out the review if you want to know more. Panysaurus over all is a very cool place (either location) but they have drastically different vibes - which in my book is a good thing. The Raleigh location has a smaller footprint and doesn't have the same outdoor patio vibe. The dinning area is a bit small but turn around is quick and there is plenty of space to stand and socialize if you're just there for the beer. I really love Ponysaurus beer, their pilsner is nice but their kolsch is my favorite. The Raleigh location menu has lots to choose from, we had a margarita pizza with pepperoni, hummus and wings. I can't recall what was in the hummus but we practically licked the bowl and the wings were a big hit too - note the Durham menu is a bit scaled down but one thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus. There is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park - plenty of WARM pita for everyone. Service was great, we did't wait long and the tables were turned over quickly. They use a mobile app for ordering food which makes ordering fast and efficient and the food is delivered to your table - which I must note came out very fast.
The service here was great! The staff checked in often and ensured all our questions were answered. I enjoyed the blueberry slushies here. This is hands down a great spot to enjoy on a warm afternoon. The buffalo chicken pizza was decent but not something I'd run back to get. The chicken on the pizza could have been better.
I picked Ponysaurus to try because of the location, fun name, and they had food. I was not disappointed! Easy parking in outdoor lots (but it was super hot) or in the covered (free midday on a Thursday) garage. I tried a flight of beer, and was intrigued by the frozen options. Very inventive food menu; I tried the mushroom with asparagus and happy with my choice! Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere for some me time or a group.
Absolutely recommend this place to dine in!! When you come in it's an open seating environment and even at the bar as well. You will need to scan the QR code to place orders where you are sitting but can also order at the bar as well. The service was very quick! Our food came out hot and fresh and the staff were simply amazing. They asked if we needed anything and were very hands on with cleaning the restaurant as well. I have no complaints and will definitely be back. (Parking is nearby in a garage)
We were here for my bday celebration. We wanted a no wait, and an easy peasy lemon squeezy place for pizza and beer, and that's exactly how ponysaurus at Raleigh turned out to be. It was busy and lively but there was ample of space with help yourself seating. They have an outdoor seating too, with an amazing open area outside with multiple other restaurants and businesses. Food order was through their online menu which was an easy scan of the QR code on the table and drinks menu was taken by one of the server staffs. We ordered beer, coke and juice which were all good. For food we ordered their buffalo wings, garden pizza and hummus and pita. There is not much option for wings flavor but the buffalo wings were good, they were fried not grilled which I don't like much. Hummus was a little too experimental so tasted different from a usual normal hummus, but was good. Pizza was thin crust wood fired with fresh toppings and tasted amazing. Definitely a cool friends to hangout with friends and family.
Nice spot for a relaxing drink! Came here after Brodeto and got a couple glasses of bubbles - appreciate the price point compared to dinner. Friendly service, even able to order while sitting outside when the bussers stopped by. Visited Ponysaurus Brewing and it was packed when we arrived -- and stayed that way all the way until closing, which says a lot about how popular this place is. The space itself is lovely with a great vibe, making it an awesome spot to hang out. They have a solid selection of beers along with a good food menu. I sampled a few beers as part of a flight and really enjoyed them. Standouts for me were the Ponysaurus Off-Dry NC Cider, DBMTP (Don't Be Mean to People: A Golden Rule Saison), and the Mango Guava Wit -- all flavorful and well crafted. For food, we ordered the hot chicken buffalo wings and fried Brussels sprouts, both of which were tasty. The absolute highlight on the food side, though, was the curly fries -- crispy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly addictive. They also have a wide variety of pizzas on the menu, which are definitely on my list to try next time. Overall, a fantastic brewery with great beer, satisfying food, and an energetic atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
This was a first time here and it was amazing, the food, the staff, everything was great. I love how it is partly self serve so you aren't waiting on the servers and rather get it yourself and get out. Self seating, QR code to order and pay is great as well. Highly recommend the pizza and wings with fries as they are so delicious.
First time coming here with my husband and it was amazing!! Not your typical restaurant with wait staff, just use a QR code to access menu and order! Food came out fast and hot, which is already perfect. Everything was delicious, my favorite thing was the build your own pizza with a cheese base, and was all very filling!! For the size portions, I definitely do think they match the prices. Will come here again :)
Really good! Came here before going to a concert close by at the Ritz. It was crowded but we were able to get a table upstairs. We ordered drinks at the bar like the instructions said, but they did end up having a server that was working upstairs to help with drink orders. We ordered our food on our phones, and service was fast. The artichoke pizza and Brussels sprouts were both really good!
We were at Raleigh Iron Works for the Oktoberfest Weiner Dog race. They had it set up real nice. It was a little crowded. There was a line at Ponysaurus for beer outside. They had a little tap on the patio. So we hopped in line. My friend went inside to see if we could get beer faster. You know divide and conquer. She won, however the line outside was still long so we stayed in line so we could get another. Sure enough by the time we reached the front of the line we were out. So we grabbed a couple more put them on the open tab from inside and walked around. We came back after walking around and decided after seeing everyone walking around with pizza boxes and Togo bags that we would eat here. We knew from being there earlier that they had outside first come seating seat yourself, but it was full so we went inside, turns out that is also first come first serve seat yourself. There was a table getting up as we walked in so we sat down and they were quick to come clean it. The waitress came and too our drink order and we saw her 1 more time after that. Even though they have a scan menu on the table for you to place your order I think they should still check on you. She came at the end to see if we needed her to close out our tab at the bar, we had already taken care of that. We could have used her during our meal. The wedge Cesar was ok, the lettuce was nice and crisp. The Cesar was good. I always get my dressing on the side sometimes when you get a salad it can be overdressed and I don't like that so I don't take chances. The Chicken schnitzel was ok not outstanding. It could use some seasoning. The salad "on top" of it was good. The dressing was really good. Now this roasted broccoli was the star of the table. It was so yumm. I only wish the dressing was on the side. It was so much of it in the top I had to rub some off. Otherwise it was so good. We would have ordered more but having to use the San to order and pay each time I didn't like that so we just ate that and moved on. Maybe we will try the pizza next time. read more

Ate here at 6pm on an overcast Saturday. Not too crowded, but the waiter seemed stressed. They said there was a self serve area inside for to go boxes and utensils, but it didn't seem self serve. I got the cheese pizza with olives. Pretty good, very thin and crisp. Also got the Heirloom Tomato Salad. The portion was small for $14. It was still good but probably wouldn't get that again. They had a new sign out with rules saying kids have to be arms length from parents. I think that's a great way to help the issue of kids going crazy at breweries. First time coming here even though I'm familiar with the shopping center , was able to get served quickly so I tried the flight which came with 4 flight size beers. I chose 1 cider, 2 sours and a weisse. I thought it was plentiful and the presentation was cute. My group sat upstairs where it was more seating and they also had a server up there to take drink orders. Would try this place again. read more

Man the curly fries were absolutely delicious and the burger was so good! I will say the mayonnaise based lemon aoili was just a little strong to eat with all the fries but I'm sure you can get other condiments. Overall the portions were very generous and we ended up taking home leftovers. Overall the service was great and the people were very friendly. The giant dinosaur in the center was awesome and made the ambiance such a lively place. It was nice being in the hub of ironworks with all the market fun and other shops to check out! read more

Our go to brewery in Raleigh. The frozen espresso martini is so good! Beers are also great. We love the food here. Best buffalo chicken pizza in Raleigh! Great place to spend an afternoon. read more
This is our second time here. It's located in RIW (Raleigh Iron Works), with a decent amount of indoor/outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly, wanting to assist you during your visit. The beer selection on tap is pretty extensive, they allow for samples before purchasing a beer (beers on tap only). This was our first time getting food here, we decided on pizza and believe me we were in no way disappointed by our selection. We got the Porchetta Pie... absolute slam dunk! Decent amount of TV's to watch things or just hang out and listen to music, overall this place is super cool. read more
Despite the fact that the place was just about bursting at the seams on a Saturday evening, I was able to order a beer at the bar but I even found a quiet two-top where I could set up my laptop and write a few Yelp reviews. Plenty of taps, cocktails and wines. As well, the pizzas looked pretty darned awesome at the table next to me. Good tunes, great beer, a comfy space with a surprisingly speedy wifi. This was a great spot for my last stop of the day. I had their Tell the Truth kolsch which I thought was draft but ended up being poured from a tin. Which was nice because the beer came with a message. The can reads, "The truth is the truth can be hard to see anymore. The waters have been muddied, the air has been smudged, the obfuscators have obfuscated. Well, we've decided to take a stand with a beer that supports hiring more journalists and funding better journalism. People who will make the calls, dig up the documents, and find out what's really going on, like what's really, really doing on, because enough is enough with the alternative facts. This beer is a Kölsch, an easy-drinking beer, brewed with Magnum and Tettnang hops and Carolina Gold, Carolina Wheat and Vienna grains. A really great spot for casual pizza and brews! Parties seat themselves and can order food through a QR code on the table and drinks are ordered either through your server or the bar. I think this style of ordering allows you to focus more on the company you bring here with you. The pizzas here can be create your own or created by them. We chose from their menu and you can tell that they prioritize seasonal ingredients! On a next visit, we're hoping to try the non-pizza entree's, too. read more

Great pizza & beer! This new brewery in Ironworks is hopping, for good reason. We enjoyed tasty scotch ales and shared a couple terrific pizzas on a recent Friday after work. Thankfully we arrived early, cause it got super packed! Our strategy worked for us: Find a place to land and order via a code for the table on your phone, and you can also pay that way as well. Then send someone up to check out the drinks at the bar. They come back and you can send the other one up to order drinks, and you pay for the drinks at the bar. Our two scotch ales were $6 each. They have a nice selection to choose from, plus liquors. Our two pizzas arrived separately and they brought us plates even though there is a station for utensils & other stuff. Pizzas excellent, quality, perfectly executed, full of flavor. Loved them! As we were eating the place got more and more packed. We knew folks wanted our table (they need more tables!), so we were eating and guzzling quickly. They even brought us a box for our leftovers, and grabbed our plates as we were taking last bites LOL. Overall: loved the pizza and beer. Looking forward to coming back but will do so on off-hours as possible to avoid the frenetic pace. read more
We came in on a Friday afternoon with some Raliegh friends and met up with more, ended up being 9 total. There is seating inside and out to handle a larger group. The heat was getting to us so we moved inside to one of the concrete booths they have there"....mmmm concrete" (Homer Simpson voice inserted). They had not only an excellent selection of beers on tap, but also wine and frozen cocktails, something for everyone. The bar and other staff were all super friendly. What a great find this was. This is at the Raleigh iron works and had some of the best beers I've tried so far. It was super hot that day so I opted for a mango wit and it was crispy and delicious. I tried my husband's beer which was a triple wheat beer that was so good. They had food there too, the pizza looked amazing. I'm definitely going to order pizza next time I'm there. read more

Cool find while in town. We actually were supposed to go to a place across the street. However, they charged parking (sorry but it's not that serious here) so good news, FREE parking here! It's located in an industrial looking area, mixed with retail, apartments, and restaurants. There's a large open courtyard in the middle of the area. And the brewery is bustling right at the center of it all. Ambiance: 4/5, very urban, casual, and LOUD. If you're going to sit inside you'll probably be screaming to be prepared. But there is outside seating/standing with umbrellas and heaters for colder weather. Note if you're going to order food it's much self seating indoors, order via QR on ToastAb Drinks: 4/5: not the largest menu for beer but definitely one of each category. Got the IPA found it to be very light and just alright for my taste. Nothing too unique or special. But they do have a large bar with many cocktails and slushees, which I thought was great. Food: 3/5: we ordered the pizza, which was alright. It's a very thin styled pizza, crust isn't flavored and but crunchy. For a pizza I found to be pretty pricey, $19 for ours. I would probably eat elsewhere prior next time. I'd come back with friends again. Very fun atmosphere with plenty outdoor space to hang out. Staff was friendly. Place is packed busy on Saturday for sure. Tons of dogs and kids running around as well. I would go somewhere else to eat first though. read more

Does anyone know if the Raleigh location allows dogs? There's no phone number on their website and the Durham location doesn't answer their phone.
I'm not 100% sure but usually if food is served, no dogs are allowed inside. Maybe the patio?
