I've never been to a more depressing looking Denny's. It's next to the hotel I was staying and the moment I walked in, I wish I just got room service at the hotel instead. The place inside looks old -- not the throw-back diner style kind of old -- more like no one cared to keep the place clean kind of old. There were more people working than dining. I was the only one there for the greater part of my meal and there were 5 people working. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and courteous. However the food was not good. I had originally ordered a burger with avocado and the kitchen didn't have avocado, so I switched to another burger. The beef patty was literally tasteless and overcooked. It was more like it was a boiled beef patty. I got the seasoned fries and it tasted like fries from a bag. While I'm eating, I can hear two other female workers chit-chatting and basically not doing anything. Because I was so cold (I know it's Austin! How can it be cold?!) so I also ordered a hot chocolate. That cup of hot chocolate came so fast. It was like they already had them made! With everything I had, the hot chocolate was probably the best thing. When I got my bill, the nice gentleman that took my order didn't charge me for the hot chocolate because they didn't have the burger I originally wanted. How nice! Despite the nice service, I wouldn't recommend anyone to this Denny's unless they absolutely have no choice. read more

This restaurant was our saving grace when staying at the Doubletree next door ($15 for a "buffet breakfast" at the hotel that is basically the paltry fare other hotels serve for free? Uh... nope). We had breakfast there both mornings and were very happy with the quality of our food and the service. We had Roberta one morning and Thomas the next - both ebullient, friendly, chatty, and professional servers who made sure we had everything we needed and were great with checking back with us. Friendly to other staff and other guests as well- I would give them 5 stars for service alone. You can't get a better deal than a $4 Grand Slam breakfast with a decent serving of eggs, 2 sausage links, and 2 big delicious flavorful pancakes! c'mon now. (juice was extra). One night we needed just a small meal - ordered an appetizer platter online, walked next door, picked up within 15 minutes, and brought back to our hotel. Easy peasy! Now... the restaurant was super busy, consistently, both mornings we were there. I know you're busy... but they have to pay more attention to cleanliness for SURE. Overlooked areas like the backs of booths, the side seams of booths (I wanted to throw up when I saw what my young child pulled out of the side of teh seat cushion), the backs of the chairs --- lots of spatters and smears and crusted filth. Bathromo could stand a THOROUGH cleaning, too. Guys, you gotta be spot on with keeping your dining and bathroom areas clean, b/c all we do is worry about what the areas we CANNOT SEE look like!!!! read more

What a delicious breakfast we had. The skillet is the best plate I've had at a Denny's. Loads of potatoes, bell peppers, onions, sausage and all toped with two over easy eggs. We shared the banana cream pancakes for dessert. The place is very clean and you get the feeling of being in a retro movie. The outside looks beautiful with the look of a traditional diner and lots of nostalgic art inside as well. Very pleasant atmosphere! The staff is amazing and very attentive to our needs. We came for dinner July 10th at 8:30 pm. Only 1 girl was working the entire floor of tables plus the hostess station. She told the customers after us she was unable to allow anyone else in, given there was no one to serve them. There were at least 4 to 5 people in the kitchen doing literally zero. Wax museums have more of a pulse than this kitchen. Never once did they come around to assist her, never once did we see a manager ever. It took almost 40 minutes before we placed an order, let alone receive it. I asked the girl if I could help get drinks for her, but she was proud. AlwAys kept her cool, and remained calm and professional. She was tipped well for working so hard, but the kitchen and general manager of this location need corrective actions, and need to be in serviced on scheduling, and need to be cross trained on how to better serve the customer. I recognize after a pandemic staffing can be tough. Where management failed here, was not pushing back of the house to support front of the house. Some one needs to take ownership of this location, or just sell it and turn it into another Walmart or Starbucks. Nothing worse than seeing someone kill themselves to serve 30 customers alone, while 4 kitchen staff literally eat behind the counter, don't wash their hands, and act oblivious to the hours of service. We ate at this classic diner location twice while on a short getaway to Austin. The food was your typical breakfast one would expect from Denny's although the pancakes served on the second day were more flavorful. Servers are very attentive and all customers are greeted with a "Welcome to Denny's" by ALL employees. Not sure if it's an Austin thing, classic diner thing or just this location, but it was nice. There was no line both times we visited. I'd return again when in the area. read more

In one word; don't. Its my own fault I admit it. We were looking for something quick before my Dad's Doctors appointment today and I thought this would fit the bill. The building attracts you with its shiny exterior; but the rest is downhill from there including the dated interior with ceiling panels missing every couple of steps. On to the food, my Prime Rib sandwich was as I expected. The meat tough with nicely cooked mushrooms and onions. The bread wasn't that bad and the fries were the best part of the meal. Dad's burger was the better option with giant slices of pickle and crisp onion. Throw this one into the "You should have known better" category. Service was OK and I tipped well regardless. We were brought an empty bottle of ketchup and hot sauce. I drank my iced tea so fast that there were 6 glasses on the table by the time we left. Nobody had a pitcher or do they have the same policy as IHOP where they bring you a new drink every time your empty. The diners were the best part of the meal listening to two ladies at a nearby booth order and talk about food. "I go to Red Lobster and order the Clam Chowder; but pick out the clams." The same diner on The Olive Garden: "I get the Spaghetti with 4 Italian Sausages and two extra Meatballs" Or how about her order: "I'll have the Lumberjack Slam, scrambled, with no bacon, 4 EXTRA sausage links (on top of the sausage links that come with the plate), wheat toast with extra butter, and a short stack". Then "These booths are to small!" Two stars for the Sausage Queen; and don't let that shiny exterior fool you. It really is crap on a plate. read more

Went today with my family of 7 and will never return or recommend this location. I am floored how rude they are and how we were treated. When we arrived there were only 2 other tables occupied, a table of 2 people and a table of 3. Our drinks come out, and we get 5 of the 7 drinks that are ordered. We left after 2 hours, never got the missing drinks, a lot of food was missing off our orders (incomplete with sides, pancakes, and toast) order the sampler, got 2 of the 4 items. We asked for assistance twice during 2 hours: First time: She ignored us when we asked for a refill about an hour in and the missing drinks. Comes back and snapped how we are a large table. Second time: We asked for syrup and said she was very busy and we needed to wait. Rolled her eyes countless times. Kept complaining about having us as her table MULTIPLE TIMES. She was very rude, she interacted very different with the other 2 tables. As people came in for pick up orders, she was friendly towards them as well. Im not sure why the ugliness towards us. I can understand if we were demanding, but we asked for something twice in 2 hours. I can understand if she truly was busy, but she wasn't. 2 hours in, we ask for the bill and the manager so I can explain how we were not brought everything and were thirsty, but afraid to ask her again for help. We did not mind waiting, but if it's a bother to get refills or be treated like we are such an inconvenience, I did not want to be there, and my family was hungry. Manager and waitress began to argue with ME. After waitress and manager whisper together for a few minutes, manager offers half off the bill. I had to break it down for her, that is still overpriced because we didn't even receive HALF our order. Everything was missing and incomplete. Just ready to leave, we paid it. Worse experience ever, horrible customer service. We have never been treated like this and there was no reason to treat us like this from the beginning. My husband and I waited tables are bartended to get through college, we have always been generous tippers coming from this industry ourselves. Tonight was the very first time we did not leave a tip. The only "tip" I have is get new employees, it is sickening this location is in operation with the way they treat others. read more

We love everything and everyone in this classic diner Denny's. The busiest time is Sunday late morning but all other times have little to no wait to get seated. The coffee is great and so frequently served you dont need a carafe at the table. They always get our order right. Great place for breakfast with family, friends, and coworkers. Knowingly came for breakfast in mind it's be busy, while swamped the manager just stood there looking lost putting 0 to no effort in greeting ppl as they walked in, Ms. Keli took great initiative in seating 5 groups of us totaling over a dozen ppl in a matter of minutes after already waiting 20+ minutes hardly approached. You could hear the other staff making loud comments on how they just wanted to drop everything and leave and how they didn't care if stuff was being ran out (understandable) meanwhile Ms. Keli was running up and down making sure her guest where being taken care of. I could feel her stress, just wanted to give her a little praise for all her effort. read more

Everything came out cold, they gave us no silverware or condiments, we literally had to go get all it ourselves. There was maybe only 10 tables being used and the service was this slow.
