I was a little suspect, walking in as it looked too cookie cutter and too much like just a Cysco foods outlet. I normally prefer places with a little character. Our first breakfast outing in Austin and so glad we came here. We were welcomed and seated by the friendly host and informed him that we needed seating for 5 adults and 2 children with high chairs. We were seated at a large table & high chairs for each end. We were greeted by an excellent server who greeted us and took our drink orders. I had a vanilla latte and it was very good. Then we tried the donuts - again fresh & delicious (caramel & lemon blueberry). Then for our breakfast, I ordered the cinnamon swirl French toast with eggs & sausage links; the others ordered shrimp & grits, avocado toast and a side of garlic cheddar grits (which was very good too); chicken & waffles were excellent. Have seen this place driving by and our friends were treating us to brunch and they chose this place. It's a nice roomy place with patio seating. The parking lot is behind the building. As you come in they will seat you and asked if we would like to sit in a booth and we did next to a window. The service was friendly and they took our order when we were ready. We all had a type of coffee and hot chocolate. I had the Cafe Mocha, hubby the French Vanilla Latte, friends had regular coffee and "hot chocolate" but on the menu is hot cocoa and when asked what milk was used they say its the chocolate milk steamed and they put some whipped cream on top with fudge drizzle. They were all good but one friend wasn't too impressed with the hot cocoa. I had the crème brûlée french toast with a hard over egg and some bacon. I love french toast but can handle only so much sweetness. It was really tasty but also very sweet. Hubby had biscuits & gravy breakfast. He liked it. The other two had eggs, pancakes, bacon and some potatoes. For the most part, all was good. The picky eater of the group stated the pancakes weren't moist and a bit dry going down. Overall, We would come back to try other items on the menu even the picky one would come back to try other items. lol They have a good size menu with plenty of options. I've heard many great things about this place so I was happy to finally check it out. I love that there's two locations, one south and one north for convenience. When you first arrive at this location, you'd think you have to park on the street but if you make a right before you enter the residential area, there's an entire parking lot behind the building of businesses. Just fyi! Unfortunately, I went on a cold day and was seated by the door. Was it a tactic to get me to order a warm drink? If so, it worked lol. I ordered a French Vanialla Latte and it did the job of keeping me warm for the time being. I do however, wish they had other milk options. They only offer 2% or whole milk. For my food, I ordered the Crab-Ocado Sampler. This includes eggs scrambled with Cheddar cheese and topped with crabcakes, fresh avocado, bacon, spinach, caramelized red onion, and creamy hollandaise of which I excluded the hollandaise. Usually when I'm out to breakfast and order an omelet or scrambler, I have to add something but this dish included everything I needed. Everything was seasoned so well, I couldn't stop eating it. I also love they have grits as a side option since this is hard to find at other breakfast spots and they offer a variety of breads, I settled on the english muffin. To top of the meal I had the crossaint donuts. I expected it to be sweeter but it's literally just a warm crossaint in donut form. It still was good, just was expecting more of a sugar rush. I'll for sure return! Might have to visit the north location to see how they compare. read more

Thankful to have a new casual brunch spot open in SE Austin. We visited last Sunday without a reservation and the place was packed, but we only had a ~20 minute wait for two people. Eggs Up Grill offers plenty of classic breakfast options and some lunch entrees. Deciding on our meals was a tough choice, but the Baja chicken omelet sounded so good both my friend and I ended up ordering it, with Swiss cheese instead of pepper jack. Our meal came with savory home fries or grits and our choice of bread, with a TON of options - white, wheat, rye, bagel, biscuit, I am definitely missing a few...Our server was very helpful and kind, and informed us that their diner usually allows ingredient substitutions. Most items on Eggs Up Grill's menu are traditional breakfast foods and aren't super complicated but everything we received was cooked well -- even the home fries which could have been crispier but had good flavor. The draft coffee was hot and fresh. The diner is clean and brand new, as the space was just built for Eggs Up Grill. We had a bit of an issue paying, as our server informed us that they have some breakers which keep tripping and affecting the card readers, so hopefully that gets fixed soon. Overall, very happy to have Eggs Up Grill nearby. Just what this area needed. read more

They don't take reservations so highly recommend checking them out in a weekday as it's less busy. You MUST try their CROISSANT-STYLE DONUTS which were flaky, flavorful, and melted in your mouth. I had their CARAMEL CINNAMON SMILE coffee which was perfectly balanced with the caramel and cinnamon. I tried their HASHED BENNY, which was corned beef hash with eggs Benedict and it was pretty good! The corned beef was seasoned well. Their pancakes wasn't anything special and would say just order something else instead. The only con was that the service could have been a little better. We tried Eggs Up on opening weekend during the Sunday brunch rush, so I totally get that they're still ironing things out. The food was really good, the staff was friendly, and the space itself is bright and cheerful--definitely the kind of place I could see myself starting my day. That said, things were very slow. The kitchen got backed up, and the servers seemed a little overwhelmed. At one point, maybe 75% of the tables were just waiting for food. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, another 10 for our server (who was apologetic; he didn't realize the table was assigned to him), and then almost an hour after ordering before the food came. One weird thing tho: after he took our order, we didn't see our again until the food arrived. No coffee refills, check-ins, or updates. I had a hard time flagging someone down just to get some water. It definitely made the long wait feel even longer. When the food finally came, though, it was delicious. I had the corned beef hash Benedict, which was delicious (presentation a little messy, but I didn't mind). My grits, though, were lukewarm and a bit congealed, which made me think they'd been pre-portioned ahead of time and sat for a while before being plated with the rest. Flavor was great; temperature, not so much. My husband's omelet went to another table by accident, but they told us right away and rush ordered a new one, and they gave him sides to tide him over. Once the omelet arrived, he really enjoyed it, super fresh and well seasoned. All told, brunch took about two hours, most of it waiting. Still, it's opening-weekend chaos, and the good food plus friendly attitude make me want to come back once they've found their rhythm. So I'm sticking with four stars for now and rooting for them. After placing an order for my company's leadership team, I had to come back for those blueberry muffins the next day! Placing my order for take-out, I went for the Chicken Fried Steak (CFS) & Eggs and the Blueberry Muffins. Surprisingly, the CFS was AMAZING and classic. I hate when restaurants try too hard to make a dish their own. It's a classic for a reason! My only gripe was wishing they served the gravy in a takeout container versus placing it on top of the CFS. As for the blueberry muffins *chef's kiss*. I love that they slice them in half and grill one side--it gives you this unexpected delicious crunch that makes you come back for more. Sadly, since this is the only brunch spot/restaurant on the east side of Slaughter, it gets crazy packed--especially with how walkable it is for nearby residents. Since this place stays busy, orders can get messed up, service runs slow and the place can feel chaotic. When we arrived for our takeout order, the hostess almost handed us our food without checking whether we had paid because it was that bad... I'm sincerely rooting for Eggs Up Grill in Goodnight Ranch, but improving the customer experience really starts with having more well-trained, customer-facing staff who can not only handle pressure, but can also LISTEN to the customer's orders... read more

I've given myself 6 visits here to write a review, and it's a mixed bag. The food is fine. It's consitently well executed mid-tier fare. No big swings being taken here, but no big misses, either. Inoffensive and agreeable - perfect for get-togethers as they have something for everyone, and it's going to be good. For what it sets out to be, it nails it on the food front. The location is great. This, of course, is relative to YOUR location, but this is a very welcome addition to the Southeast Austin foodscape. As the options around here are limited, expect wait times during peak hours and plan accordingly. This place gets pretty slammed during weekend/holiday breakfast hours. The ambience is well-executed - They are shooting for an old school diner feel, and they pretty much nail it. From the counter to the booths to the perfectly balanced morning brew, this location of Eggs Up Grill delivers on those fronts. Service is where it gets spotty. Let's take a detour for a bit. Have you ever had that one friend who is extremely likeable but struggles with just getting by? Never on time yet always in a rush - you see motion but not progress. Every setback and wound is self-inflicted and completely avoidable, but dang it if the guy isn't lovable. If you know this kind of person, this is where I am with Eggs Up Grill's service. The service is always super friendly and welcoming, I can't speak highly enough to how likable they are. The issue is execution. All but one time, the service has been passable. Every other times - regardless of how busy they are- it is headscratchingly inefficient. I don't even want to say "bad" because they're so friendly, but the wait times for every step (ordering/getting drinks/gettting your food/refills/getting check) are pretty high. You see people moving around, but not a lot is happening. Food stays under the heat lamps for 10+ minutes waiting for someone to take it to a table. Drinks go empty. Tables sit with patrons, waiting for their bills for minutes on end. It's really baffling. I can't say it's a leadership thing, either. The host regularly picks up the slack by getting food and clearing tables (while profusely apologizing). When you need a refill, your check, or your food, though, you have to regularly remind your waiter that you exist. Like my friend, though, I keep rooting for them because, for all of their flaws, the likability is through the roof. I will keep returning because the location is super convenient and the service is, if nothing else, very friendly. It's still a fairly new establishment, and I really hope they work out the kinks in their processes. The Churro Crunch French Toast is delicious, served with strawberries and some churro/cinnamon spread that tastes amazing, and the bacon + eggs were great too. Service was great, server made lots of conversation and even asked how crispy I wanted the bacon! Very nice people here. Great space and decoration! I don't recommend outdoor seating, the restaurant is adjacent to the road and the cars were more loud than I would like. read more

Good place to get breakfast. I like the look of the place. Very light and clean. The restaurant was clean, and there is a good amount of seating, but I could see how it could get easily crowded on a busy day. Today wasn't too busy. (Monday late morning). They have a pretty big menu. It was hard for me to decide what to try but, I decided to go with a traditional breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage, grits and home fries. It's a pretty nice sized portion. I think I can get 2 more servings out of my left overs. The eggs were scrambled nicely. Not liquidy or too wet. (How does that even happen? You know how sometimes the eggs just look wet?) Anyway, the grits were the right consistency, they were also not too soupy or watery. I don't usually find too many places with grits out here so I'll be back for that alone. The bacon and sausage were good too. I like how the bacon was fried. It has a crisp, but it wasn't burnt. The home fries were so good. They are well seasoned! The toast was fine too. We tried the croissant donuts. The flavor was still croissant heavy. I didn't get much donut. There was a drizzle of something like caramel on the top, but it tasted like a croissant that was in the shape of a donut. I had this drink called the peachy palmer. It's a peach Arnold Palmer. I have been multiple places asking for this drink, now I have a nice easy name to mention to get this drink when I'm out. The prices are good too. The service was great. Our server was attentive, and other servers that weren't working our table even checked on us. I'll be back again. read more

Service - RACHEL!!! Excellent service. Unfortunately, this is the ONLY breakfast place in the area. Why no wifi and why no outlets? I know on the weekends when it's busy you don't want people sitting and working but, if there was wifi here we would have breakfast meetings or work meetings here during the week all the time. It's a complete miss by the owners. It's 2026, Free Wifi is a standard amenity. Other than that, the food was good (could use a little more spice). Service was superb. Entire place was clean. We came by for brunch with a party of four and were blown away! The service was fantastic--everyone was greeted with big smiles when we arrived, and we left with the same happy vibes. The interior is absolutely adorable and so welcoming. Every single dish we tried was incredible: the shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the waffle sandwich was amazing, the omelet was delicious, and the other dish was just as tasty. My friend and I went around 9 am on a Saturday. Pretty busy, but we were seated immediately. Food took about 25mins to come out, that's a bit long but we understand they just opened the restaurant. We both got small orange juices. They were good but nothing special. I got the biscuits and gravy with sunny side up eggs. It was actually so bad :( I wanted to like it, but I couldn't even finish the meal, I hated it. The gravy tasted weird, and the biscuits tasted floury. Part of the egg whites on the eggs were uncooked so it was slimy. My friend got the oatmeal, and said it was pretty bland. She had to add maple syrup to make it tolerable. The workers were great! Danielle and Maceo were super nice and welcoming. I definitely wouldn't come back because of the food, but maybe the other classic dishes taste better. Our food totaled $26 which is super reasonable for two people! Forgot to mention, I originally asked for my eggs to be fried, but the waitress didn't see that option.
