I really hate to update my review from a few years negatively, but I must. Java has switched to table service instead of ordering at the counter. This really slows the process down. I stopped by for Sunday lunch, waited in line for several minutes, was not greeted. Then I was shown to my table. The Cuban is still good; today's soup was chicken noodle. However, as a solo diner, I was abandoned after my food arrived and the waiter did not check on me. I was given the check on their tablet, with defaulted 20% tip. I tipped it, bit frankly today's service did not deserve that. I visited in person a few years ago when they were still counter service, and unfortunately encountered the same lackadaisical service as the greeter was on their personal phone instead of assisting me. Still bomb food, but at this rate, stick to go and enjoy at home. If you live close like me, it's not that much more to do to go, and I refill my own water. What a shame; I know waitstaff have the hardest gig, but it is their literal job to greet their customers, check in, and refill drinks. Java is failing in the service area now.

Wanted breakfast before work and wife wanted to go to this staple. Surprised it wasn't too busy but drive thru was busy which I thought how good can food be if made this fast. Food was absolutely delicious with freshness. The eggs were not overnight with veggies, they were all fresh green and red pick with lush mushrooms and cheddar just shredded. Avocado was perfectly ripe. Exactly how I'd want it but again shocked at portions with sausages too which also fresh and juicy. Orange juice tasted freshly squeezed too. Outdoor was best as indoor didn't feel as welcoming but thoroughly surprised and will be back. Service was also very quick and for the speed again I was surprised how fresh it was.

This place is perfect for breakfast or brunch. I had a super fresh and tasty omelet, and the portions were really generous. The staff was polite and helpful, explained everything on the menu. You can tell it's a popular spot, we got there around 10 a.m., and it was almost full, but we still found a table. The coffee was great too, smooth taste, not too much milk, just how I like it in the morning. We had such a good time. I think this might become our go-to breakfast place. Prices are fair, most breakfast dishes start around $12-13, and it's totally worth it. Big thanks to the kitchen: my omelet was honestly perfect. The space is bright and open, with plenty of seating inside and outside

we arrived 45 minutes before close, and our server sam was super kind about it. She was amazing! She had great knowledge about the menu, coffee offerings, and was very kind and personable. She and the gentleman from the kitchen who ran our food, brought my dog a treat. Everyone was insanely friendly, including the manager on shift, whose name I did not get, thank y'all for an amazing meal! The food was delicious, the prices were fair, and the service was exemplary. we sat on the patio with my dog and it was very comfortable!

Stopped by before my drive back to DFW. Cool decor and the merch was dope. Poor service to start. I placed a pickup order on Doordash. Stood at the pick up location at the bar for at least 5 minutes before anyone addressed me. They weren't super busy. Didn't get a hello/how are you doing, just "have you been helped yet?". After I told them I was waiting for a to go order, another customer came up and was pleasantly greeted right away. Very weird. Breakfast quesadilla looked promising but didn't pan out. A hefty serving, all of it super bland. The salsa was good, but besides that everything was flavorless. Some salt and pepper would've went a long way. Potatoes were cut way too big. Some of them were on the undercooked side because of this. Got an iced Carmel latte. Nothing to ride home about. Tasted weak. Wouldn't come here again.

You cannot go wrong with a classic Austin diner. It use to be that you order at the counter, but they have now switched to ordering at a table which I'm happy about. There was no wait to get a table of 2 on a Sunday morning. They have tons of great options for coffee and really delicious breakfast plates. I got the eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado and it was the perfect amount and flavor. We shared a big pancake which was moist and sweet! I love bringing folks from out of town here as it is as Austin weird as you can get.

I have loved this spot since they moved to our neighborhood. This Austin Java has such a nice feel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You order at the counter, find a seat and they bring your food to you. They have a water station and plenty of bathrooms, they have coffee drinks, mimosas and it looks like they had a margarita special. This is a great place for brunch and they have a small outdoor seating area as well.

Every member of service either greeted us, or supported our needs with a smile. Calvin, especially, made sure every step of our experience from walking in through ordering was special. While we didn't indulge in the beverages, we enjoyed the $10 burger special which also came with fries! We paired this with a side of a $6 Caesar Salad (really tasty and thrown together with thinly sliced cabbage, roasted chickpeas, and popcorn chicken). Next time, I'd really love to try the truffle mac and cheese (which was also on HH). We weren't aware of the upcharge for swapping out the slice of American for Cheddar (+$1.50), which would've been nice to know ahead of time, since we both got burgers and wondered about the swap...but lesson learned. Also, BIG lesson learned...the parking validation is for only two hours! We were having such a lovely time at Dish Society, but exceeded the 2 hrs (by an extra hour) and got charged a significant amount for parking. Next time, we will certainly park on the street. We tried reasoning with the parking attendant and they wanted no business in understanding we were patrons of the restaurant. It was certainly an unexpected shock, and didn't leave the best final touch of our evening (specifically in that parking garage). It's unfortunate that we got penalized for enjoying our time at dinner.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. Ordered the oak grilled edamame from the happy hour menu and it was a flavor explosion with a dusting of serracha powder, lemon zest and white sesame. For dinner, I ordered my go-to rice bowl with coconut-scented rice, seasonal pickles, thai herbs and steak as the protein. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. Definitely one of the regulars in my list when craving good cocktails with a casual but elevated food menu.

From the "anytime eats" menu, would highly recommend the chopped cheese brisket sandwich- absolutely divine. On Thursdays they do chicken fried steak which was VERY good- but I found myself wishing I had just waited in line for action bbq. Onion rings are some of the best I've had. And the cornbread is a next level version that beats out fine dining restaurants attempts- hands down. For bbq, I've had brisket, sausage, pulled whole hog, and Tri tip. I think the Tri tip is a sleeper hit here- it was melt in your mouth tender and still had that wonderful smokiness. The brisket was.... Brisket. Very good. Great bark. Didn't really stand out, IMO. But it was what you hope for with brisket. Sausage as well- very good. The pulled whole hog rivaled the best of the Carolinas. Smokey, tender, rich. Just delicious. And I guess this is what surprised me most- how two bbq dishes from different regions (CA for trip tip and NC for whole hog) stood out as excellent dishes here in Texas. Where many of the bbq spots here really focus on the brisket as the star- it can feel repetitive between all of the famous spots. But at L&L, all of their dishes are done to excellence and they have put their own twist on. As their slogan says, new school barbecue with old school service. Can't wait to come back.
