    Single burger and fries
    Karen C.

Was in the mood for a burger, a good one that wasn't so far from the house. First choice said was "open" but got there and was closed. And sign on door said "open" as well. But that's ok because this is a tucked away complete gem of a place. Dog friendly, as long as on a leash. A very small, limited menu but that just means every item they make is hand made and cooked to order. You come inside and order at the bar and get a number. The outdoors seating is huge! Really big! Lots of older trees for shade. There was not a band this time but they do have a nice outdoor stage area for that purpose. I had the single burger and fries and guest had the double. They do not skimp on portions! It is honestly one of the best burgers I have had in Austin. Burgers were hot and juicy not dried out at all. The sauce, not sure what it is but yummm! The staff is super friendly as well. It's a great place to just hang and have a good time. You can also find a pool table and dart boards too. It would be nice to have outdoor TVs but it's also good to hold conversations with friends. Will be back for sure. Oh one last thing - there are vegan options as well!

This was a pretty cool place to experience. Nice hangout bar. Bartenders were very attentive and nice. Got our drinks fairly quickly even though they were busy. It's a nice vibe and a great place to be. Must visit when in Austin, I love it. Outside bar, band, and lots to do!

This place is an interesting combination of dive bar, and outdoor eatery. When you go inside, you're in a dark dive bar but they have an amazing food menu. It is NOT all bar food either. Then when you step outside, there's a large outdoor seating area with many picnic tables. I had a stir fry broccoli and tofu dish on white rice. The food was delicious and brought out fairly quickly from the kitchen. I was impressed. I was very impressed

Electric Jellyfish and country fried steak with potatoes and mushrooms. Service is always good and the outside environment is great.

    Licenses that they apparently know

The bouncer tom Thornton did not follow Ada regulations and denied entry due to my husbands service animal. He did allow my husband entry WITHOUT HIS SERVICE ANIMAL to take a photo of their licenses Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), individuals with disabilities are allowed to be accompanied by their service dogs in all public areas. According to the ADA, "service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, UNLESS THESE DEVICES INTERFERE WITH THE SERVICE ANIMAL'S WORK OR THE INDIVIDUAL'S DISABILITY PREVENTS USING THESE DEVICES. In such cases, the handler must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective means" (ADA Title III, Section 36.302(c)(4)).

We visited The Little Darlin last night for drinks and dinner. The bartender inside made me a delicious dirty martini. We ordered the steak salad and the cold udon noodle salad. We didn't really like the food that much. The steak on the salad was good, but they didn't give us dressing and even when I waited in a really long line to re-order dressing it never came. My udon salad was very salty and missing something. I put it in to go box but ended up tossing it because it just really wasn't that good. I love this giant backyard feel and the bar is great. I just don't recommend the food so much.

Little Darlin has become an institution that has the best party's and free shows in town! Also the food slams! Long live The Little Darlin!

Austin's best dive bar with amazing gourmet food. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. Full bar and a huge patio. Highly recommend the fish special and the cheesecake of the day. This chef could easily run the Food Network. Love everything they do here. popped in last night with a friend and had rainbow trout with roasted brussels sprouts and squash, and a blueberry compote. Divine.

This is such a fantastic spot for brunch (or lunch or dinner)! I love the kitschy bar decor and the rustic and spacious patio, outdoor seating, and stage. Fabulous drinks and really good food. Even when it's super busy, customers are cared for promptly and efficiently.

I've been to a lot of places in Austin this year and The Little Darlin' is near the top of the list of my favorites. I've been twice and the food was excellent both times. The vibe is pretty punk rock with great music playing on the speakers inside. All orders are placed at the bar. There's a pool table inside. There is plenty of seating inside, but they have a large outdoor seating area. They rotate a lot of the menu and always have a seafood special (sorry for the blurry picture of the salmon with squid ink pasta). The fried chicken sandwich is delicious. I've added steak to a dish on my first visit and was cooked perfectly medium-rare. Don't let this place fool you. They have a cool dive bar feel, but they know how to cook really good food. I see myself coming here often with friends.

    French bread pudding

Fun menu options, good drinks and a huge dog friendly patio! We've come before for a show one weekend and got some Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and a burger and both great. This time we came for brunch and got the honey chicken biscuit and the French bread pudding. The honey chicken biscuit was delicious - well fried and sweet rosemary butter. The French pudding was plated beautifully and the cream and berries were so good with the bread pudding! Only con is the bread pudding could be a little softer but still a good dish. Service was quick considering there were so many parties around us including ours. I got the strawberry chili mango mule and also the pineapple jalapeño margarita, both delicious but my preference is the pineapple jalapeño margarita - truly worth it.

Great happy hour and better atmosphere. It feels like old Austin- smoking cigarettes out back and no pretentiousness.

Ask the Community - The Little Darlin'

Is the restaurant family friendly for an early dinner?

Yes! Sitting outside is a vast family friendly area.

    Is it byob?

    No. Full bar.

What would be the safest thing that's gluten free and dairy free to eat? Assuming French fries are fried with the chicken and stuff.

    Good for kids?

Good quality is high and the menu is wide ranging. I'd say the atmosphere is very suitable but the menu may be lost on a younger kiddo. Parents I would say review the optionality prior to taking your kiddos.

    Dogs allowed on patio?

    Yes

Before Wyatt Flores took the stage, there were plenty of people dancing and two-stepping, but it transitioned into a regular concert once Wyatt came out. Both were great energy. One thing I noticed was that for Austin prices, their beers weren't too pricey and were decently affordable. That's what I love about a honky tonk! They had food vendors on site so we ordered cheese and pepperoni pizza from Lefty's Pizza Kitchen for dinner. The cheese was surprisingly better than the pepperoni. They also cut it into really small pieces which made it fun to grab a slice, bowl a frame, and go back for more. The cocktails were really good and affordable too. Carrie Fisher ($12): Rum, coconut, pineapple, lime juice, and rock candy. Loved the fun rock candy topper though it was very hard to eat. The drink was on the lighter side and easy to drink. Atomic Blonde ($12): Tequila, mezcal, honey mango, and pineapple with a chamoy and tajin candy stick. The candy stick was freaking delicious, and the drink was pretty tasty too. Such a great pairing that we ordered a second one. The Game Over ($18): A 25 oz drink in a reusable plastic mason jar with 8 liquors, sprite, lemonade, and Hawaiian punch. Not bad but mixing that many spirits tends to give me a headache so it wasn't really my thing. The other two cocktails tasted better to me as well.
