We visited this location yesterday. It was the first visit in about ten months, because we're spending most of our time in Houston. Nevertheless, Jim's should be a regular GoTo for American food, particularly for breakfast. My brother-in-law likes to order breakfast no matter what time of day it is. We received excellent service from Frankie, and he gave us good advice about what to order. The place was completely clean, quiet and very pleasant.

Pioneer breakfast with sausage gravy over the biscuits.

As always, Jim's does not disappoint. As a matter of fact, this mornings experience included the assistant manager, Nicholas, coming around and checking on everyone's meal and experience. We had the Pioneer breakfast, which is one biscuit and two eggs, and the two eggs and ham with rye toast. As always, everything came out good. Service was also very good.

Today grilled pork chops spinach rice and apple sauce it was great

We were here tonight with friends who have dietary restrictions and Jim's was great there was something for everyone and it was hot tasty and fresh. You can get almost anything at Jim's and it's all good

It's been way too long! I had completely forgotten how good this place was. Old school Country, friendly, wonderful fresh food served with a smile, and such a beautiful clean peaceful place. Cannot wait to come back again for their amazing steaks and an apple pie on the side with scoops of vanilla ice cream !

One of those occasional visits to Jim's. Old school is good. Plenty of food and friendly service. Never fails. That's why we keep coming back whenever we are around this part of town.

Food was warm and tasty and did not take long to prep. Our waitress was also very nice & friendly!

Jim's is the Texas version of a Jersey diner, and it's fantastic! The one negative I will say is they do close pretty early post pandemic. Other than that, great service, clean restaurant, a really big menu of fun items (breakfast tacos, mozzarellas sticks are among my favorites), and good prices.

    Steak and egg breakfast

Upon arrival we were promptly met and brought to a table. The hostess as well as our waitress Camilla were so nice! Camilla's service was above and beyond! Our drinks were brought out promptly and Camilla made sure to continue to check in but not rush us for our food orders. For drinks we both got ice teas, unsweetened with lemon and an Arnold Palmer! Both were crisp and refreshing! In addition to our teas we got water, which was okay. The food came very quickly! We ordered the sirloin steak and breakfast which included the steak, 2 eggs any way, and for sides I chose hashbrowns and biscuits. The breakfast tacos with potato, egg, and bacon. And for dessert carrot cake. The sirloin breakfast was a STEAL! (13.99) it was a great amount of food and let me full and satisfied! The steak was cooked pretty well! And I can't imagine a better steak for the price. The eggs I ordered over medium appeared to be a little closer to over easy. The home fries were like a potato cake and crisped to perfection! The biscuits were light and fluffy and came with butter and jelly. They were flakey and delicious but we wish there were more options for different jelly's on the table. The breakfast tacos are an insane deal! Two tacos BUSTING out the seams for 6.49! The tortillas were strong enough to hold in all the toppings and not fall apart! They were cooked to perfection. The only downside is there is not avocado even as an option to add on! The carrot cake was a little dry but it was decent! It was extremely cold from being in the fridge and the icing was a little bit crumbly. Maybe skip on this! The table setting was complete with sugar packets, salt, pepper, cholula, Tabasco and Jim's branded ketchup which was an ADORABLE customized touch. Would only add extra jelly packets for a variety of flavors. The interior is a bit outdated but I think that's kind of the vibe you are expecting coming here. Overall I would come back again and plan to soon! Our waitress Camilla was SO nice. She even brought us drinks to go! Service was unbeatable for an amazing price! (entire meal including drinks was $33)

Service was one point. The food was presented to feed your eyes before tasting. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. My husband loved the fried bone in pork chop with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had the special which was chipotle grilled shrimp on a bed of crisp potatoes with a chipotle seasoned sweet potatoes and avocado purée. It was delicious. I wish though that the avocado puree was drizzled on top of the dish instead of on the bottom. That way each bit would have a little of the creamy puree. Looking forward to visiting again.

They gave us a small scoop of pimiento cheese with 2 crackers. It's zesty and creamy and great to have an amuse-bouche before our appetizer came out. We loved the smashed guacamole with cotija cheese and pumpkin seeds ($11). The tortilla chips were so thin and perfectly roasted. So good! I ordered the Texas coast crispy fried shrimp ($22). It was perfectly cooked with lots of crunch. I think there were 8 shrimp. I loved the jalapeño tartar dipping sauce. I skipped the fries and for more black beans instead. What I should have done is gotten more slaw instead. That slaw a medley of red cabbage, green cabbage, carrots and cilantro - it was so well seasoned. Great food, amazing service, fun setting. Loved this spot!

Outside there's a cute playground, gated, for the younger kiddos. Perfect for those who want to keep the kids occupied but also enjoy a snacky snack and a drink. There are plenty of gluten free options, and we ended up getting the Yardbird Chicken Sandwich on a gluten free bun, a complimentary Reuben sandwich on a gluten free bun, fish and chips, and a burger for the kiddo. All of them were great! Hubby enjoyed the fish and chips and the spray bottle with malt vinegar! Such a fun touch, nice and crispy, and the chips were crunchy and delicious. I actually really liked my chicken sandwich. While it looks standard, it was such a good bite, super filling, and since gluten free, I got a side salad which was nice and simple and light. The Reuben was GREAT! I was so excited I could have it since on a gluten free bun. The corned beef wasn't super greasy or heavy or too salty which I really appreciated, and the aioli was great to balance out all other parts of the sandwich. The slaw, pickles, everything were all so good, and definitely worth getting in the future! And our kiddo demolished the burger in a heartbeat! Add some great service - super kind, funny, and made me feel so safe eating there with an allergy. He was great, and even though he was busy, he did such a great job coming and checking in! We also had a pint of Lazarus Rice Lager which has been treated and is consumable for those with a gluten allergy (not Celiac)! I love Lazarus beers so much, especially this rice lager! So light and perfect on a hot day! We would definitely come back any time! Defintely worth the stop!

We waited about 5-7 minutes before someone came to greet us at the hostess station. After greeting us she seated us. Once we were seated we waited awhile before she came back with menus and she took our drink order. After a few minutes she brought us our waters and took our order. The hostess/waitress was really busy but despite that she did an excellent job taking care of us. For our starters we shared two items. The Carnitas Poutine which comes with fries, pulled pork, cheese, jalapenos and red onions. This was really good. The pulled pork mixed with the other ingredients was filling and could be a meal on its own. We also shared the fried cheese curds. They came with a tomato sauce and a buttermilk sauce that you could dip your curds in. These were really good when they came out. The cheese was nice nice and stretchy and the exterior wasn't very crunchy but added texture. Both sauces were good and each had a distinct flavor. For our main meal we all shared a bowl of the Truffle Fries. They aren't on the menu but the waitress told us that if you request them the chef can make them. They were really good fries. My husband and son both ordered the Southwest Pimento Burger which comes with beef, pimiento cheese, jalapenos, a tostada, corn relish, and aioli. They said that the burger was really good. I ordered the Harvest Burger cooked Medium. It comes with beef, cabbage, apple jam, aioli and cheese. I ordered mine with swiss cheese instead of cheddar cheese. The burger was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. I could taste all of the combined ingredients and really liked the sweet and salty flavor of it. It was just balanced so well. Overall Oasthouse is a good lunch spot. The service was good despite the waiting plus they have a variety of starters and delicious burgers.

I got a two-meat, two-sides plate, and it came out to almost $30 with tax and tip as of late 2025. Overall, it's a great BBQ spot with good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a fun hangout vibe.

A few weeks after our stop at LeRoy and Lewis, I finally have time to catch up on my mixed review!…read more I'll start by saying I've loved LeRoy and Lewis for years, especially because of their cheddar cheesecake I tried back in their truck years. Now my husband and I are both on keto diets, and eat out a whole lot less. He suggested going out for our dating anniversary - bbq and a movie on a Friday night. I was open minded, and said sure. I knew popular bbq on a Friday night would be crowded and sold out. Sure enough, we got to LeRoy and Lewis, and they were busy, and sold out on most of their top items. My husband had to park a few blocks away and walk back in the rain. An employee was extremely helpful going over the menu and showing us what things didn't have many added carbs, and even looking up specific ingredient lists for us. I haven't seen this level of service at a restaurant in decades! We found a few things we could eat - prime rib, chicken, the burger (without the bun), and smoked mushrooms. I figured we'd just make the best of it. However, my husband was now in a mood because he couldn't get the brisket or beef rib that he came to try. I ordered enough prime rib and chicken to share, but he was stubborn and didn't even touch it, leaving me to finish off more meat than I wanted. My husband ordered the burger, having heard glowing reviews. However, it was beyond rare, to the point that it was bland and mushy, save for the overpowering crust of black pepper all over it. All we could taste was the black pepper, in a way that made me not want to put pepper on anything since that meal. He said that he could taste lighter fluid on the smoked mushrooms, but the one I tried was pretty good. I think my husband was mostly mad that he fell into paying a lot of money for something other than the food he wanted. I could have told him that this is part of the "top" Austin bbq experience, but I also could have told him that the "top" Austin bbq experience is something to plan for, and not something that just falls in place on a Friday night. I'm only coming back when I'm not on keto so I can get their cheddar cheesecake again... and their smoked cookie, and several other sides that were teasing me! Only go to LeRoy and Lewis when it's not busy, when you're open minded, and when you're ready to spend some money. It may be better than other bbq spots, but only marginally better. You decide if that's worth it to you.
