I paid $26 for a lousy greasy fried chicken sandwich and soggy fries. Couldn't eat but a few bites. Chicken was pink. And the frier oul clearly needs changed out. Awful! Should have went to Chick Filet.

    Rare?

Potatoes and toast were perfect. Eggs over easy were cooked too long and stake was raw.

Make your own pasta bar for weekday lunch

The pasta bar at the Onion Creek Grille is one of the best kept lunch secrets among office workers in the area. Back when I used to work in this neighborhood I used to frequent this place, and today it's still the same chef behind the counter, the same pasta and sauce and veggies and proteins. Little has changed in 15+ years and that's a good thing. I personally like the spiral pasta with a mix of their spicy cajun sauce and the pesto with lots of veggies. Too bad they only have this Monday through Friday. It's still worth the drive on a weekday.

This is supposed to be chicken and mixed greens with black beans, roasted corn, pico, cojita cheese, avocado, and cilantro lime dressing. $15. No corn. No avocado. No mixed greens. The name of the meal is Southwest chicken and greens.

Great food. Lunch break. Had some to take home. Create your own pasta meal. Was delicious.

Shame on me for choosing this restaurant but in my defense I was exhausted and since I DJ t consider myself a big foodie, I figured "how bad can it be"? The best thing I can say is that Francis the waitress was sweet as can be. Now that the nice things have been said... The menu has exactly 2 things on it that were tolerable: 1. Whipped potatoes 2. Ok. Just whipped potatoes. (They were really good.) My table had chicken noodle soup, grilled chicken, "market" "vegetables", POTATOES, and some other forgettable things. The chicken was rubbery and very fatty with a greasy skin that said around. The soup had no real taste and I think they forgot the chicken. New name suggestion: lukewarm flavored water. The vegetables were such a disappointment too. I thought "surely they can mess up cooked vegetables". When will I stop tempting fate? See photo of "vegetables". I was literally just given the stalk. The meal was really expensive for how bad it was. I paid $29! I guess that's what I get for eating at a hotel restaurant but I really had very little choice. In hindsight, fast food would have been the better option. Next time I see a restaurant with already poor reviews I will have faith in my fellow man and choose to believe them.

This place was a pleasant surprise. Early flight and a room near the airport had us dining close by. The food and server were excellent. Pan-seared Salmon and mushroom ravioli were delicious. We will be back. Our server Victor was very attentive. The wine list was very good.

Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding and a Stephen Goff Sauvignon Blanc... yummo.

Im in town for business. After a long day and a late 6 mile run along Ladybird Lake, I was just looking to put some fuel back in the tank so I walked to a Onion Creek for a night cap and something to satisfy my sweet tooth. I had the Caramelized Banana Bread Pudding with a Stephen Goff Sauvignon Blanc. My server, the service and more importantly my food was excellent.

The oil with the bread was delicious...not sure about the pasta sauce.

If you are staying at the Omni Hotel or nearby, this is a good experience. Personally, of you are visiting Austin and you haven't been here before, find some BBQ or Mexican and live music. Get out there! You can do it! If you are a business traveler like me and want something more upscale than fast food, you will be satisfied here. My server Adam gave the perfect amount of attentiveness. I was seated quickly, no wait. Lots of open tables. The bread comes with a wonderful light olive oil over a base of Parmesan and Italian herbs. Perfecto! I had the mushroom ravioli. Great combo of exotic mushrooms but the base sauce was...well...odd. It was not a cream sauce at all as I pictured. Very thin not creamy. Not bad, but I couldn't place it. The two bad things on the experience were the incredibly slow bar service and the noisy party that was going on in a room nearby. I recommend this restaurant if you are not looking to really take in the local scene.

Chicken + shrimp + veggies + spinach pasta + marinara sauce + pesto sauce = Delicious!

The restaurant is overrated and pricey for the small amount of food that you receive. $5.00 for plain black coffee is crazy.

Horseradish crusted salmon - I didn't try it but the two people who ordered at our table were disappointed and wished they would've gotten one of the above Desserts GET THIS: 1. Bread pudding was delicious! Not overly sweet & the added white chocolate gives it that dazzle dazzle 2. Chocolate Espresso Brownie - perfection NOT THAT: 1. Banana cream pudding. Friendly staff overall. The food fell flat for almost all of us. The salads were fresh and good. However, the ribs were below average. Cornbread was stale and not tasty. Biscuits tasted more like firm bread and not at all flaky/soft. That seemed weird to all of us. Chicken fried steak was soggy and not crispy. Drinks were ok. Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We didn't try that.

I have a few I adore, but my personal favorite will be JewBoy Sliders. I've been to two of the four Slider locations on 6th Street and the South Lamar one, and I've returned to the South Lamar location the most, so this is where the review is going. Their menu is pretty simple. You have an option between two, four, or twelve sliders, or one or two sliders with a side. I always opt for their "Weekend Getaway" with two sliders and fries. There are four sliders to choose from now. There used to be just two, but they've moved on up like Curtis Mayfield. The first is The Gringo with American cheese, smoky mayo, and pickles, and it's your basic slider. It's very sweet and goes down real easy. You eat one and could find yourself eating twelve. They're just a perfect traditional slider. I always gotta get a Gringo. The next of the two originals is the Vato, which is their original spicy slider. It has pepper jack cheese, hatch green chile ranch, and grilled jalapeños. It's moderately spicy, but it's not going to stop you in your tracks. I find it a good complement to the OG Gringo. The first of the two newer flavors is the Redneck, which is like a BBQ burger with American cheese, BBQ sauce, bacon, and fried onions. It's a strong flavor and it's definitely doing what it set out to do, but doesn't have that same immediate impact you get from the Gringo or the Vato. The final new addition is the Red Ass, a two-pepper-emoji threat not for the faint of heart. It has pepper jack cheese, fried jalapeño strings, and their evil spicy asshole sauce. It does not mess around. That sucker has a kick and will punch you in the face for looking at it funny. I love it though. Mix it with the Gringo and it's a combo of love and hate. It's endearing to have a slider that's sweet and lovely and one that feels evil at heart. I always get the fries as my side of choice, and they load me up with so many I always share some. They also slide me a smoky mayo sauce on the side for the fries. It's just excellence in a cup. If you're ever at St. Elmo, The Domain, 6th Street, or South Lamar, you gotta give JewBoy Sliders a chance and be amazed by how much flavor can be packed in their potato rolls. RIYL: All the fries you can give me
