Table who arrived after us didn't finish their drinks and preferred to just leave cash instead of waiting around for service.

I want to make sure nobody gives this restaurant a chance, especially if you are from out of town and expect decent food and service. Notice all the reviews are from white souls food critics. This place takes advantage of the demographic it draws, and because they've basically monopolized the Latin food and entertainment scene in Austin, they act like they don't have to try. After reading this, you'll understand why I think it's time to petition to bring Los Cucos and Vida Mariscos to Austin. When we walked in, no greeting just how many, they dropped menus on the table, and that was it. Even Ojos Locos greets you at the door. The waitress came and the first thing she said was "Ya saben qué van a tomar?" Not even her name, not a simple greeting. We ordered drinks. She brought my niece's lemonade, and we ordered queso, guacamole, and calamari as an appetizer. She brought our apps with no plates and said she would return with them. The calamari sat on our table for about 7 mins while she stood in front of the bar by the music group, applying lipstick. I had to wave her down to get her attention. Instead of coming to the table to see what we needed, she ran to the back and came out with my niece's refill, something she had forgotten earlier. I told her, thanks, but what we really needed were plates to share the appetizer. That's when she finally brought small plates, and they were dirty. Nothing on our table could have caused those stains. I'll attach a picture. The calamari itself was bland, at least cooked properly, definitely not seasoned. When we placed our food order, she didn't write anything down. I asked for fried rice and got plain white rice. My boyfriend's seafood soup was a mess, two different kinds of shrimp thrown in there, some from a seafood boil with the head on, some peeled like regular shrimp for soup, plus one random mussel? It looked lazy and careless. We eat marisco soup all the time at Gabriela's South, and it has never looked like that. She never came back to check on us once we had our food. No "how's everything," no chance to ask for clean plates. The table next to us actually left without finishing their drinks, just left cash on the table. Across the restaurant, another booth also left early. Clearly, this wasn't just us getting terrible service. When we finally asked for the check, it came with the tip already applied. The bottom of the receipt says parties of five or more, but we were four, one of them being a child who only had a lemonade. I told her to bring the check back without the tip applied and I wasn't handing over my card. She tried to take it anyway, but I told her no. While I turned to talk to my sister, she yanked the check out of my hand. A check she could've reprinted herself as she said she'd need a manager. The manager came over and kept repeating that on weekends they add the tip to all tables. I asked if that's written anywhere. She said no. So, I told her then we didn't agree to that. This was a table of four, one being a child. The manager stood there arguing with us for about 8 mins, saying she'd have to call someone to remove it. What are you the manager for? Granted I haven't seen you once on the floor, helping or guaranteeing good service to your customers. At one point during this argument we heard them say "if we take off the tip you won't leave me anything". I don't think they were expecting the music to go silent in the moment. Meanwhile, the waitress stood there talking over her manager, arguing with us, then arguing with her own manager saying, "don't fight over $16." That showed the exact attitude she had all night. Entitled, defensive, and lazy. So, I told her "if it's not worth fighting over, then why don't you just remove it? You're the one arguing about leaving it" That stung, because she left, but the manager stayed trying to justify it. YESSENIA did not need to come back to our table as she clearly wasn't trying to pre-bus. She wanted the last word. She told us: "Nada más para que sepan, el servicio no es gratis en ninguna parte." I told her: "Good service." And she stormed off. The plates slid, food fell everywhere, and honestly, we just laughed at her. LAS BUNCHONAS NO SON MESERAS, TU ERES MESERA - COMPORTATE. It has been years since we all stepped into our professional careers but always respect a servers hard work, because we were once in their shoes. Granted my manager always made sure my tables were satisfied before applying a tip on a large party. If she had just removed the tip quietly, she probably would've still gotten 15-18% because my boyfriend treating us to a family night. We weren't gonna leave the tip to him and my sister had cash - we would not wait for change on a $20. But once we saw it forced onto the bill, and then had to argue about it, we weren't going to let that slide. My boyfriend, who has literally never left a $0 tip in his life, finally did - and she earned that.

When searching for excellent seafood inland (a challenging task in Austin) look no further than the newly minted La Seareinita so fresh and so clean on East Oltorf. Atmosphere is what we've come to expect from the Gabriela's group - warm, tropical, inviting, with a playful twist. My very favorite thing: a spicy housemade shot of veggie-laden tomato broth upon seating: bury me with it. Shrimp and fish were OK, but the real showstopper was the fresh-off-the-boat ceviche in a heaping whole-fish proportion. We couldn't stop popping chips & ceviche, the very best (guacamole too!) I've had this side of the border. Kimberly was so kind and helpful, old Austin service slowing things down just South of the city. Coming back for a giant tumbler of horchata, apparently by drive-thru next time!

Gabriela's sister restaurant is filling a void for seafood and quality dine in food on the southeast-side. The restaurant is decked out in vibrant hues of green and orange, custom neon signs paying homage to Cartel culture, and upbeat music breathing life into the space. Service was slow, but it was also patient, non-intrusive, and efficient- very clean! You will be created at your table with a shot of warm and spicy seafood broth. The menu is extensive and boasts some items from Gabriela's menu alongside Sinoloan classics and Louisiana-inspired dishes. Food portions seem to be big- the Tostada Trio could feed at least 2 for dinner. I tried to order guacamole with no onions but they said it wasn't possible, so that tells me it isn't fresh. It makes me wonder about the rest of it. I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails- the Pina Swirl was my favorite! I'm looking forward to going back to try more!

Food was very good. Service was a little slow. Definitely going back to try more food items.

Botana del Callo Culichi

La SeaReinita is a hip new seafood place that brings Mexican seafood to southeast Austin. The servers were friendly and made sure we didn't need anything throughout the meal. You're served a shot of a really tasty caldo de camaron when you sit down. I could honestly eat an entire bowl of the stuff. We split the Botana del Callo Calichi (think a multi-seafood ceviche) and the Seareinas Tostada Trio. The seafood tasted really fresh and the flavors packed a great punch. Our mouths were tingling as we neared the end of our meal, so be prepared for some spiciness. The octopus in the botana was super tender which is always a worry when trying it at new places. My favorite of the tostadas was the aguachile verde. Delicious! This isn't the cheapest place, just a warning. For our two dishes and two drinks, we spent about $50 each after tip. However, I would love to come back and try more items based on the service and quality of the food.

This authentic Mexican seafood restaurant recently opened near my neighborhood and I'm so glad we checked it out! I loved the fact that when the waiter brought our cups of water, they also brought free cups of warm consomé (they literally looked like shots haha), which is a savory seafood broth that has a lingering spicy after-taste -- what a great way to kick off the dining experience! The ambience felt like a sports bar because there were multiple TVs hung up around the restaurant airing the current South American soccer cup while a live DJ was also playing music simultaneously! The seafood was super fresh with tons of flavor, and be prepared for their humongous portion sizes -- definitely worth the price you pay! I'll for sure be returning to try out some of their other seafood dishes, but the tostadas (get the trio if you want to try out multiple flavors) and choriqueso appetizer are a MUST! Service was quick and food came out within 15 minutes of ordering! Overall, I'd rate this place a 4.5/5 if I could.

This is my second visit! Again, I got the Mexican martini, and yes, it comes with a shaker, very nice! Delicious and refreshing. My first visit I got the quesadillas and they were excellent. I also tried the chips and salsa which blew my mind! The chips are incredibly buttery crispy fresh delicious, but it's the salsa that stole the show. Chunky tomato based salsa with lots of cilantro and chopped onions, medium hot, but packing so much flavor. I would come here just for chips salsa and a drink and I would be happy. I got a shrimp and octopus cocktail, with two beef fajita tacos, à la la cart; OMG! These tacos were so good! Served on corn tortillas with Mexican white cheese and an amazing creamy dressing and vegetables. Absolutely blew me away! I definitely will be coming back here on a regular basis. Next time I want to try the seafood soup, they give you a small sample when you walk in ; a delicious fiery red broth, cannot wait to try it!

I was surprised to find a little gift/souvenir shop when I walked in, but quickly realizing the party's behind the second set of doors! They have covered and uncovered seating options and several TV screens. Not all of them were on, so I wonder what situation would call for all of them to be on.... The food ordering is through a QR code sticker on each table. When we went, they had a cute fall display for photo ops and a photo booth that is more permanent. I ordered the brisket & egg biscuit as well as the sweet potato fries. Didn't finish the fries but they were decently good even a little soggy! They also were super generous with the number of ketchup packets - I got 3 but only used 1. My only comment is that the bathroom was not the best, but it's definitely miles ahead a porta potty! Also shocked at how small the bathroom was, given how large crowds can get on game days (of all sports).
