    Enchiladas Trio
    Amber A.

Wonderful lunch and attentive service at lunch time. My waitress kept my salsa and Agua Fresca full without asking. The trio is a great sampling of their sauces. The mole is rich with tender chicken. My first time back in years, happy to report the food is great and the service as attentive as always.

Parrillada Azteca (for two) to-go to enjoy at home. I ordered without the pork/chorizo and added shrimp.

Love the beef fajita quesadillas! I've only gotten takeouts here from the drive through. Never dined in. The people at the window are always very nice. I would call ahead on your way to pick up because it could take them a bit to prep the food. The take out outsets can be a hit and miss, but I always enjoy the food regardless. My go to dishes: beef fajitas quesadillas, beef fajitas entree for two, barbacoa tacos, and guacamole. Inside is casual.

Lunch specials are the bomb! My family comes here regularly and is greeted by name when they visit. This is the first time in years that I've returned to the restaurant with my family. Quite honestly it's a hidden gem. The restaurant was fairly busy on arrival today but it was only a ten minute wait. Being that my family is so regular the host was super apologetic and did everything in her power to get us sat. Shout out to the host who's name I don't have because my father is terrible with names. There is a lunch special that ends at 3pm and the portions are HUGE. The beef fajita plate is a 9/10. So good. The fajita is so tender and tasty. Just an FYI - my father believes it's even tastier when it's ordered in the quesadilla. My brother always goes for the green enchiladas and adds an extra enchilada because it's just that good. My mother ordered the Vallarta special - chicken tostada paired with a green enchilada. Each plate that was ordered was super filling and tasty. While the restaurant was busy the service was quick and pleasant. The restaurant doesn't play any music but is nicely decorated. The outdoor patio is "instagram-able" but unfortunately it was cold and rainy today so didn't want to photograph it. Worth a visit!

My mom enjoyed her breakfast. I left that plate clean. Huevos rancheros plate

Service was fast and friendly! We were treated like family. Jose is the best. Open seating and didn't feel crammed up. The breakfast plate I ordered was 10/10.

BEC left CEC right...fresh salsa was great!

This was an on the fly pick using the Yelp app and it was a solid find for breakfast tacos. Even better they have a drive thru. 2 BEC and 2 CEC and they were very good! Extra star for using a whole piece of quality bacon. Chorizo tasted great and not overly greasy. Tortillas were fresh (don't think they are made in house) and the salsa was fantastic!

I love coming here, the food is top notch, very fresh. It use to be very affordable, but their new menu their prices have gone up and it's very $$$ now. I get inflation and things going up, but they have raised the prices so much compared to before. Chips and salsa are fresh and delicious, definitely a favorite and must enjoy. Margaritas aren't as tasty and not very strong for the price so thumbs down. They have also started using smaller glasses compared to before, so you get less and still pay the premium price. Service is great, they are super nice, fast and attentive. The locations is perfect, the ambiance is very pleasant and makes for a nice evening out. The food, prices went up but the food quality has also. Their food is delicious and well worth the visit! If you want traditional Mexican food in Austin; this is one of the places to come! Even though their prices are bit higher than normal I'm still giving them 5 stars.

    Jefe burrito (half)
    Jamie P.

My husband and I always enjoy our visits here! We often sit at the bar and the bartenders have always been genuinely nice and attentive. We split the Jefe burrito because it's huge and full of meaty, cheesy goodness. Their chips and salsa and margaritas are also pretty good. The service has been consistent and the food comes out quickly. They have a decent happy hour too!

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites.
