We really enjoyed Oasthouse! I've been there twice now - once with work and once as a family. There are plenty of places to sit inside and out. Outside there's a cute playground, gated, for the younger kiddos. Perfect for those who want to keep the kids occupied but also enjoy a snacky snack and a drink. There are plenty of gluten free options, and we ended up getting the Yardbird Chicken Sandwich on a gluten free bun, a complimentary Reuben sandwich on a gluten free bun, fish and chips, and a burger for the kiddo. All of them were great! Hubby enjoyed the fish and chips and the spray bottle with malt vinegar! Such a fun touch, nice and crispy, and the chips were crunchy and delicious. I actually really liked my chicken sandwich. While it looks standard, it was such a good bite, super filling, and since gluten free, I got a side salad which was nice and simple and light. The Reuben was GREAT! I was so excited I could have it since on a gluten free bun. The corned beef wasn't super greasy or heavy or too salty which I really appreciated, and the aioli was great to balance out all other parts of the sandwich. The slaw, pickles, everything were all so good, and definitely worth getting in the future! And our kiddo demolished the burger in a heartbeat! Add some great service - super kind, funny, and made me feel so safe eating there with an allergy. He was great, and even though he was busy, he did such a great job coming and checking in! We also had a pint of Lazarus Rice Lager which has been treated and is consumable for those with a gluten allergy (not Celiac)! I love Lazarus beers so much, especially this rice lager! My family and I decided to go to the Oasthouse for lunch while my son was visiting for Spring Break. We easily parked and walked in. We waited about 5-7 minutes before someone came to greet us at the hostess station. After greeting us she seated us. Once we were seated we waited awhile before she came back with menus and she took our drink order. After a few minutes she brought us our waters and took our order. The hostess/waitress was really busy but despite that she did an excellent job taking care of us. For our starters we shared two items. The Carnitas Poutine which comes with fries, pulled pork, cheese, jalapenos and red onions. This was really good. The pulled pork mixed with the other ingredients was filling and could be a meal on its own. We also shared the fried cheese curds. They came with a tomato sauce and a buttermilk sauce that you could dip your curds in. These were really good when they came out. The cheese was nice nice and stretchy and the exterior wasn't very crunchy but added texture. Both sauces were good and each had a distinct flavor. For our main meal we all shared a bowl of the Truffle Fries. They aren't on the menu but the waitress told us that if you request them the chef can make them. They were really good fries. My husband and son both ordered the Southwest Pimento Burger which comes with beef, pimiento cheese, jalapenos, a tostada, corn relish, and aioli. They said that the burger was really good. I ordered the Harvest Burger cooked Medium. It comes with beef, cabbage, apple jam, aioli and cheese. I ordered mine with swiss cheese instead of cheddar cheese. The burger was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. I could taste all of the combined ingredients and really liked the sweet and salty flavor of it. It was just balanced so well. Overall Oasthouse is a good lunch spot. The service was good despite the waiting plus they have a variety of starters and delicious burgers. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch around 2 on a Sunday so we were a tad early for HH pricing but enjoyed the brunch menu! The service was relaxed but friendly; our sever only checked on us a few times but was attentive when she stopped by and she got us our requested water with no ice which is always a hit or miss if it actually comes without ice! The husband got the Ruben which he enjoyed, and I got the Caprese sandwich which was also tasty! Plenty of mozzarella, tomato, pesto and balsamic vinegar for an extra pop of flavor. The tomato was a little soft- if it wasn't in the sandwich I think the texture would have bothered me but all together it was fine and the flavor of the sandwich was great. I subbed the side salad instead of fries and loved it, they have some sort of lemony vinaigrette that was super light and fresh. I also got their espresso martini kind of drink but it had condensed milk- very tasty and not syrupy sweet. All in all good service and good food; I'd come back to try more of the menu! read more

Service was great. There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking. Drink: Stone cold sour was delicious and refreshing! Appetizers: We tried the house pretzel which was very yummy with all the dips it came with! We also had the cheese curds (that ranch was amazing with it!) and the carnitas poutine. All of them were great! Entree: The pork and apples pizza was surprisingly good! It had a little of the heat from the jalapeños but not too much. Would definitely recommend it. Oasthouse is definitely okay. We do come here often whenever we need a drink and a place to let the kids roam. They have a small playground, but it does get crowded. Since it is a small area and I have younger children, it can get a little chaotic. Service-wise, it's been a hit or miss. There have been times we've gone and received service right away and other times that we'd have long wait times for acknowledgment. Nonetheless, the servers we've encountered have always been friendly to my memory. The food has me teeter tottering between a 3 and 4 star. For the most part, I do believe every time that I've eaten there, I've found the food to be okay. Nothing really stands out, but they did start implementing a lunch special, which is a good value. read more

My colleague and I headed here for an early dinner. I loved the decor. Felt modern and comfy. Our waitress was very helpful with offering menu suggestions. We ordered the shisito peppers appetizer. They were really tasty. The dipping sauce had a Lil zing. I ordered the chicken schnitzel. The chicken was good but the side of spatzle had zero flavor. Came in around 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening. Have been wanting to come for a while, as the menu has always looked intriguing and it's off the beaten path. The atmosphere is really nice--bright and open, high ceilings and vibey. There were not all that many people there, which was curious! We were seated promptly outside on the patio (great place the bring kids btw... a playground was on site and within eyeshot!). We had service immediately, and we quickly settled on our order for food. The meatloaf sounded fantastic, and we got a side Caesar salad to accompany it. The Caesar salad was tiny and poorly dressed, but we were given some extra dressing upon request. The meatloaf followed soon after. The flavor was wonderful, but I was truly blown away at how little meat we were given. The picture makes it seem ok, but it ended up being mostly sauce haha. I would love to come back, but wow was this disappointing. Really hoping they dial in portion sizes, because there is potential here! Perhaps someday we will return and try again. read more

Date night with my wife for her birthday.... We went to an event near this restaurant and a few folks recommended Oasthouse so we stopped in. First and foremost, the food was delicious. We got the carnitas poutine and the Brussels Sprouts. Why didn't we order a meal? Well... we got sat at the bar area and waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged.... The TVs weren't the best backdrop to a romantic evening and the $12 Old Fashioned my wife ordered came out looking like 1/2 a drink. So... we weren't keen on spending more $$. Probably won't be back... which is a shame because the food we DID eat was delicious. read more

We could make a reservation for my friend's birthday, and she received a card signed by the staff: a much nicer gesture than the HB song. The menu featured lots of bacon garnish and feta flavoring. I suspect that the very best part of this well-appointed place is the beer menu and the bar. The children's play area looked well designed, an ideal spot for tired working parents and the kids cooped up in school all day. Our first time here and we sat at the bar. The service was fast and friendly. We looked over the menu along with the lunch specials, burger choices for $9 at lunch that ends at 3. Happy hour drinks are $1 off that starts at 3. I ordered no pink for my hamburger but it came pink so I couldn't eat my hamburger. Instead of returning it, I swapped with my husband. Oasthouse is one of the two restaurants connected to the Daisy and leans American, while Keepers offers seafood. I ordered the Classic Hamburger, which was surprisingly solid, including their crispy fries. The portion size was perfect for me, but heavier eaters might leave unsatiated. I also tried the White Wine Steamed Mussels and was pleasantly surprised--super tasty, with the wine broth adding flavor without being overpowering. The biggest miss? The drinks. A bit disappointing. Food was good not great. Hummus was a bit bitter and had a lot going on inside it. Simple is better imo. Cheese curds might as well be mozzarella sticks. Heavy fry and not like traditional cheese curds. Ruben was lacking from top to bottom. Flavor was just not there. Fish and chips were also lacking. Very over fried. Food was good. I ordered the chicken sandwich, but I changed it up a bit for my personal liking. Service was great! They forgot my wife's wings and the came out several times to deliver an apology- and they comped her wings as a result. Ambiance was good for outdoor seating. This place caught my attention due to it's close proximity to the Alamo Theatre. I walked in and was promptly seated and given a menu. I asked about the happy hour that was going on and I saw that the" specials" that were offered were about 99 cents off of the regular price. Not really what I would call a wow happy hour special. I proceeded to order the nearly $20 dollar meatloaf, and waited for about 30 minutes for it to arrive. I'm the course of my wait, I asked for Tabasco, to which I was told they didn't have Tabasco. What place doesn't have Tabasco?? Well, then they brought my plate to the table. When I tell you that I was shocked at the small portion size of the plate, I can't stress that enough. The size of the meatloaf was literally the size of a half smoked pack of cigarettes. The mash potatoes were under this tiny portion of meatloaf. It literally took four bites to finish my dinner. I was done with the small portion in about two minutes. I would say that this place is not one I would visit again. Meatloaf isn't like an expensive meat or seafood that comes in smaller portions because of the cost. It's literally cheap ground beef and to receive such a small portion is disappointing. Save your money and go elsewhere to enjoy a better experience. read more

Everything this restaurant group does is absolutely great. This is another restaurant from the same folks who own District Kitchen. Past house has a charming Oktoberfest vibe, with a very German inspired menu. I had the cheese curds and mussels from their happy hour menu and both were phenomenal. The star of the show, though, was their chicken schnitzel. Usually restaurants overcooked chicken breast so it's dry and flavorless. Not so at Oasthouse. The main was juicy and full of flavor and the spaetzl was lemony and just the right complement. Never had a bad meal here and will continue to be a frequent visitor. read more

The air freshener and the scent system in the restaurant were both so strong, I couldn't enjoy my meal. I asked the manager about it and he was a bit rude. I couldn't really enjoy the food because all I could smell was the cheap smell emanating from the bathroom. When I go to a restaurant, I want to smell food. Air fresheners are full of chemicals, VOCs and are based on a lie brought to you by clever marketing. Outhouse took such good care of us even though we walked in 15 minutes before closing time. Their kitchen was open all the way until the end of their listed hours, and the bartenders were so friendly. After having an otherwise disappointing night, the bartender helped recommend beers (one which even came with a souvenir glass due to a promotion they were running) and make us feel right at home. We sat and ate at the bar, which was pretty empty since it was almost closing time on a weeknight. But the music that was playing softly in the background was great. A great vibe. We placed food orders and they came out pretty fast - the poutine was tender and the goat cheese was a great touch, and the schnitzel came recommended and was cooked well with a lovely creamy sauce. This was a very disappointing experience. First, we made the mistake of sitting on the patio. At many places it's delightful to do that. This place has a playground. Seated next to us were two families at two tables, chock full of kids that ran around and screamed for the entirety of the hour and a half we were there. This isn't necessarily the restaurant's fault, but it just adds to the rest of this dismal experience. At 5:45 on a Saturday, they were out of pizzas. I'm not even sure how a restaurant accomplishes that but they did. When we asked our server why that was he said he didn't know and then he actively recommended against getting the gluten-free crust. The next choice we made was the black bean burger. They were out of that, too. Oh, and also they were out of the meatloaf. So basically they were out of half of their menu entree items. The only person who got their original choice ordered the Indian curry and said it was mediocre at best. The whole experience felt like no one really cared at all what was / was not on the menu, why they were out of it, and if the customers were in any way disappointed by those facts. When you arrive here, you'll be surprised to find two separate restaurants joined at the hip in what basically is the same building. Thankfully, there is plenty of parking. Heading to the bar you'll find about 18 seats around the bar with a good selection of wines, liquors, and even some good craft beer offerings. To the left of the bar and outside you'll find a play scape for the kids and over a dozen tables to sit at. I came here with a group of 20 for a special dinner. They have a nice room off to the side which can seat up to 30 people, but it can get quite loud. They already had a prepared menu for us to choose from. We started with 3 apps (pretty decent) and a house salad (not that great). Virtually everybody in the party decided on the waygu beef strip which I have to admit was the star of the show? At the finish we were offered three different dessert choices and they were all quite good.
