My family and I decided to go to lunch at District Kitchen and Cocktails while my son was visiting for Spring Break. We drove up, parked and went into the restaurant. We were greeted by a kind hostess that asked where we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose to sit inside because my son preferred it. There was plenty of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. The restaurant itself was clean and had lots of natural light from the windows. After being seated our waitress showed up. She brought us menus and asked what we would like to drink. We ordered waters and then she left. Our waitress was awesome throughout our experience. She was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. She also answered questions that we had about the menu items. When our waitress returned we placed our order. To start we shared two items. We ordered the Fresh Baked Bread which was pretty good. It was very soft, and fresh out of the oven. When you put butter on it would melt. We also shared the whipped feta which comes with honey, cucumber, pistachio, pomegranate seeds, and mint. It came with pita. The whipped feta was delicious. The feta was light and all of the combined ingredients added to the flavor. We ate it with the pita and our fresh baked bread. The Pita was okay. There wasn't much of it for the three of us. So we used our bread. We each got our own lunch meals. My son ordered the Fried Egg Sandwich which comes with cheese, tomato, prosciutto, arugula, and fried egg with a side of Parmesan Fries. He loved it. He ate the whole thing. My husband ordered the Chicken and Waffles which comes with fried chicken and waffles. I tried the chicken and it was crispy exterior with a tender interior. The waffles were perfect. They were large and when you added the chicken and the maple syrup it made a sweet and semi salty mix. My husband enjoyed his meal. I ordered the Bison Burger cooked Medium. It comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, cheese, and dijonaise. I added a sunny side up egg, bacon, and avacado. It came with a side of Parmesan Fries. The buger was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. I loved that when I smashed the top of the burger to the bottom the egg yolk slowly spread out over the burger. It was a very thick and messy burger but I didn't mind as it was yummy. The fries were good. They were soft with a slight crisp on the exterior and I could taste the parmesan flavor. Overall District Kitchen and Cocktails is a good place to visit for lunch. The restaurant has plenty of seating inside and outside, the service was excellent and the food was delicious.

The food is very good. The place is nice, both outdoor and indoor. The Bloody Mary is an absolute nightmare. It would have been a 5-star without the bad drink

This place really never disappoints, I just love the vibes. I came with my mom recently for brunch and we sat on the patio on a nice day. The servers were friendly and efficient! We had a couple mimosas and I had the shakshuka which is what I always get (because it's always delicious). My mom had one of their bowls and she also really enjoyed it. My only issue was there wasn't enough juice to go with the mimosas in my opinion (the ratio was much heavier on the champagne). That said, I should have asked for more and was so hungry I didn't even bother and just pounded the food, so that's on me! Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite brunch places in South Austin :)

I had come to District Kitchen way back when it opened up initially and remember it being a pretty trend upscale spot with decent food. I decided to try it recently for takeout and here are my thoughts: Caesar Salad (4.5/5) - I quite liked that they used what seemed like baby romaine lettuce for the salad, it gave it a nice balance between leafy and crispy. I also really liked the crouton crumble. This may be an unpopular opinion but I don't really like when there are large crunchy croutons in my salad and using crumbles gave it perfect added crisp. I feel like I didn't taste much of the anchovies though so I dock half a star for that. Chicken Milanese (4/5) - One one hand, the chicken breading came out very crispy, even if it was sitting in a delivery car for a decent time. On the other hand, I felt like there wasn't much, if any, seasoning on the chicken or the breading. Of course, it comes with a dijon cream sauce which is pretty tasty, but the lack of seasoning was notable. I also didn't particularly enjoy the broccoli. It says it was sauteed but it's texture and flavor were giving steamed broccoli moreso. It wasn't bad, just wasn't good. Goat Cheese Mash (4/5) - No complaints here, just overall a good version of mashed potatoes. All decent mashed potatoes deserve a 4/5 rating, with the opportunity to become 5 if they really blow me away.

Went on a Saturday around noon for brunch and got a lovely table outside. Very friendly service. Avocado toast with smoked salmon was delicious. The bread definitely elevated the dish. Lots of mocktails to choose from which I greatly appreciated!

Came for Sunday brunch, reservations were easy to make online and highly recommend. We had a phenomenal server, unfortunately not sure what was going on in the kitchen but it took over an hour for our food to come out. Boudain omelette was great. Egg sandwich with truffle fries were delish.

I've been here a few times now and found that where you sit and who your server is makes a HUGE difference! I'll occasionally pop in during Happy Hour for a late lunch after my voice lessons and have asked about a few things on the menu to confirm if they are or could be made gluten free. As such, I'll usually get the Moroccan Lamb Kabobs without the pita and the Shishito Peppers, but occasionally I'll get the Street Tacos instead. It's all delicious! The Street Tacos are good, but have never blown me away. If you like spice, I highly recommend the Shishito Peppers! And if you like lamb or really well seasoned and spiced (but not spicy food), the Moroccan Lamb Kabobs are an absolute must-try. They are divine!!! As far as drinks, I've only tried the District Cutie and the Soft Glow, both of which were excellent, easy to drink, and felt sweet and fruity. It's a bar, but they have bar seating, regular dining, or outdoor dining. Unfortunately sitting at the bar is one of the best ways to get bad service, depending on who is there, but sitting at the patio is usually a pretty good experience for me! Everyone is friendly, it's just attentiveness when I need to order, want to pay, etc. All in all, I do really like this place and I do think it has been redeemed from my original experience. Especially with the chocolate mousse, which is an absolute must-try.

I've been wanting to try The District for a while, so I was excited to discover there's one conveniently located closer to me in South Austin. I visited for brunch with a party of eight after spotting some Cajun-inspo dishes on the menu. I love a good tableware, as it adds to the finer details of my dining experience. I was impressed to see that The District pays attention to this, using beautiful pieces throughout. For the table, we started with the Bacon Beignets, though unfortunately, the dough was a bit denser than what I expected. For myself, I ordered the Tuna Poke & The Boudin Omelette. I was impressed with both the flavor and quality of both items. My partner ordered the Banana Bread French Toast, and I couldn't get enough of this sweet treat. Overall, I'm impressed!!

This is a $15 dessert... the ice cream comes in a literal to go sauce container. There is one strawberry sliced up and a sliver of a cake. This is a joke right.

I've eaten here several times over the years. It seems to have changed management many times. In the early days, I would recognize the host or some of the waiters but now it seems to be new folks almost every time, but maybe I'm not going at the same time. I love they have HH until 7pm and most times it's easy to grab a spot at the bar or nearby! Their outside patio is great for those spring and fall days for brunch or evening. I'm also glad they started opening for lunch during the week as it's another good option to suggest for work lunches. I've accidentally suggested meeting there in the past for lunch only to show up to find out they were closed for lunch. I met a gal I work with for lunch here a couple weeks ago and tried the oysters which were great! Waiter was very attentive even though we were the only folks sitting outside that day. He made sure we got our order in prior to a big table putting their in so we wouldn't have to wait too long. Met a friend recently for a last minute HH and enjoyed their HH wine and appetizer options at the bar. Look forward to future HH's and meals there!

Unfortunately, the kitchen just wasn't on their game this day. We went for brunch and it is a lovely restaurant with some amazing looking pastries. My ratings of the food we got are below. Overall, everything was just okay and not something I would order again. Our order: Salami and cheese - 1/10, not even edible with how much olive oil they dumped on it. Hard cheese and meat. None of us touched it. Frites - 9/10, hard to go wrong here. Nice and crispy French cruller - 7/10, I think this is just personal presence here I wished it was warmed up. Flavor was good but it was a little dry. Burger - 5/10, the flavor is there and definitely has potential but it was so bloody and rare which is not what we asked for. My friend has a gluten allergy and she asked for the burger lettuce wrapped and it just came on top of a huge chunk of iceberg so wouldn't recommend that if you want it lettuce wrapped. Chicken sandwich - 8/10, this was good with a nice crispy chicken. It could have used something sweet to balance the spice though it was a little one dimensional.

We were both starving and this place is open 24/7. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.
