Love to support new places, but I did not have a good experience at Astra. Ambiance is great. It looks cozy and modern. I really like the outdoor sitting around the tree. I like the concept. Service was good expect the food itself. We ordered the goat chest pizza and red fish. Fish was a complete disaster. For $22 small piece of fish with no sides. I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't Pizza could be better if it was cooked right. I could still taste the uncooked dough. If you have alot of money and you want to spend. This is a good place. From Chicago, recently moved to Kyle. Stopped by Astra for dinner tonight. Here are my thoughts: -The service for a casual restaurant was 5-star! Our waitress was friendly, knew her stuff, super helpful, especially for our first time. -We ordered the turkey raclette sandwich, and it was a gem! The kind of sammy where everything works together, delicious! -We ordered the pepperoni basil and the merguez goat pizzas. -The merguez was very spicy. (Pro tip: We asked for a side of ranch--much better!) -The pepperoni was peppery. I enjoyed the greasyness (is that a word?) of it. -The highlight was the sourdough crust. It's cooked in a brick oven (see pics). Nice char on bottom : ) -A note about ambiance--very pleasant! Fun to hear the "Toot! Toot!" of the train, as it went by. The food was amazing I had a turkey pep sandwich on the most delicious soft bread. I started off with a scrumptious salad and my son had a pizza which we all shared. Love the new tenant of this space in Buda Main. Small, intimate with a unique hole in the wall feel but better! Great spot to grab a drink or small bites! The homemade pasta is so comforting and loved that our waitress offered tips on add-ons to make it a little more hearty. I am THRILLED to have another high quality restaurant and cocktail bar in Buda! The cocktails were created by a Michelin starred bartender and are truly the best in the area. The menu is diverse and unique, with tons of options for everyone. I went in for lunch on a Saturday and got the Leaves & Stems to drink, and the turkey raclette sandwich. My cocktail was extremely well balanced and beautifully presented. The sandwich was amazing - the house made bread really stood out. I can't wait to come back for dinner and try some of their plates. Delicious food and drinks! Came here around 4 on a Tuesday and looked like they were just starting up so service was a little slow and there was only one other table of people there. Outside is a cute patio and inside is upscale. Sat outside at the bar and tried some drinks and the redfish crudo. Highly recommend the crudo and the leaves and stems cocktail - both incredible and would come back just for those. The Paloma and margarita were also good, refreshing and not too sweet. Wanted to walk around main st for a little since I had never been and this was a good jumping off point. We ended up coming back to Astra for dinner after a little stroll and some shopping. The second time was probably about 2 hours later and we sat inside at the bar and the restaurant was packed and bustling now. By the time we left there were many people waiting for tables at the entrance. For dinner we got the vegetarian sandwich add turkey, the pepperoni fennel pizza and the broccoli. I also tried the second side martini and it was great but I enjoyed the leaves and stems and Paloma better. The vegetarian sandwich was somewhat of a let down. The bread was super hard to bite through making it hard to eat. The veggies in the sandwich were pickled onions, arugula, and something else pickled similar to the onions, so not heavy on the vegetables. Glad I added the turkey. The pizza was good. Did not enjoy their ranch though. The broccoli was also really good but priced a little steep for how much you get at $14. Overall, really liked the inventiveness of the drinks here and the food was good for the most part. Definitely want to come back and try other things on the menu! read more

This restaruant is an amazing little gem in downtown Buda. Three of use enjoyed the delicious, hot, and locally-sourced ingredients geared to a sophisticated palette. The butternut squash salad, redfish, mushroom pizza, sourdough bread, and Iberico ham were some of the best we've had anywhere. We were also pleasantly surprised by the light bodied Chianti, which was very enjoyable. Service was absolutely great and this was one of more enjoyable dining experiences recently. We waited 20 minutes for a summer salad as an appetizer that would "feed 3-4 depending on how much you eat". There were 4 of us and we each got 2-3 forkfulls. That was a $14 salad. My friend ordered a steak and a side order of pasta. He got the steak and waited 30 minutes for his pasta. He asked if they could reheat his steak but they could not. They did comp his meal but a nice, hot meal would have been preferred. We were told the sides could be ordered and shared "family style" but the portions were so small we were shocked especially given the prices! We really wanted to like this place. The food here was really good! Waitress was nice and it was very clean and aesthetically pleasing inside. However, it was frustrating that they were out of both pepperoni and waffle cones. We have been to Astra three times, twice for takeout and today for dine-in. We've tried every pizza on the menu and honestly have not been disappointed once. Even reheated, the pizza is amazing. They have the only crust I actually eat, the crust! The sourdough is next level. Our personal favorites are the Oyster Mushroom (my 9 and 5 year old literally beg for it) and the Merguez Goat. The salads are top notch as well. We've tried them all, and the Summer Salad with homegrown tomatoes from the owners' garden cannot be beat. When it's not in season, the Arugula Salad is always a winner. One of the coolest touches is that when you walk in, you can literally see the herbs they're using in your dishes. Today we also tried the homemade pasta, and let me tell you, it was "no joke," as my son said. Seriously, it was incredible. The garlic flavor was subtle but absolutely perfect. Now to the steak. I could have licked the plate clean because of that herb gremolata. The steak was juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection. And now the service. Ivy was phenomenal. She was attentive without hovering, made sure we always had what we needed, and also gave us space to enjoy time together as a family. As parents of two young kids that balance means a lot. The experience actually started before we sat down. The hostess was incredibly welcoming and set the tone for the entire meal. Absolutely LOVE Astra, me and my Husband have come here a lot since they opened. He always gets the steak which is perfectly cooked and i always get the Mortadella and Pistachio Butter Sandwich with the Butternut dish. The Sandwich is sweet and savory and perfect on the sourdough bread that they make in-house. Their coffee is also outstanding and all the syrups are made in house which is wonderful.
