We came here with some friends and family. After an event. There is plenty of parking outside with indoor and outdoor seating options. Our waiter was great and checked on us regularly. We had the chips and queso which were delicious. The highlight for us was the bacon jam burger. Our daughters really enjoyed the fish and chips. I really like Brick's, I've been a couple times and it's a real tried and true neighborhood pub. I came recently with the same friend I originally came with for a couple of drinks. Mine was the empress Negroni Rosa, it was small but quite strong and did not disappoint! My friend also had a regular Negroni which she also enjoyed, and ordered a sandwich which she said was really good. The staff are attentive and quick, the tables and booths are comfortable, and I like the small-ish size inside, it feels more intimate for a hang spot. They had a sports game on and there are so many TVs in there you can see it from all angles. Plenty of individual booth bathrooms too. Glad this spot is here! read more

Before heading over, I called to confirm when the kitchen closed and was told 9:30 PM. I arrived around 9:15 PM, ordered 10 wings and a few beers, and settled in to watch the NBA Finals game that was on TV. There were still several other customers seated throughout the restaurant. By 10:00 PM, the front doors had been locked and the staff had begun aggressively closing the restaurant around paying customers. Tables were being folded up and chairs were being stacked literally two feet away from me while I was still eating a plate of hot wings. The manager, a gentleman with a gray beard and baseball cap, was actively stacking tables around occupied guests. I've worked in the bar and restaurant industry myself, and one of the first lessons I learned is simple: you don't start closing the dining room around customers who are still eating and drinking. It creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and sends a clear message that the staff wants you gone, regardless of whether you've been served only minutes earlier. Eventually, I asked my waitress to bring me a to-go box so I could get out of their way. She agreed immediately and brought one without hesitation, which only reinforced the impression that the staff was more focused on getting out the door than providing hospitality. The food was fine, but the experience was not. This felt like a business being run for the convenience of the staff rather than the customers. Unfortunately, it left me with the impression that management simply doesn't care about the guest experience. I won't be returning. read more

Hadn't been to this place in over a year for several reasons. We arrived shortly after 4 o'clock. Including us, there were 10 customers. We ordered a couple of beers. Beer was room temperature at best. We asked our server to please bring us another beer, but this time in a chilled glass. About 15 minutes later manager comes around, wanting to know if we wanted a refill on our beers he was advised we had already placed an order. He said he would take care of it. Temperature of the beer was not any better even in a chilled glass. We had also ordered some chicken wings as an appetizer. They were not very tasty kind of hard to chew, and as you can see in the picture there's a white substance on them. We asked the manager he said he didn't know, but he didn't know the wings are not battered prior to them being fried so we know that that's not flour on the wings. Seems like quality control has gone downhill a bit... placed a pickup order and burger was in the box as a full sandwich, my previous 5 star review reflects them serving the hot Burger on the bottom bun and the cold items on the other bun (separated). Getting home and opening a soggy burger sucks and they used to place more importance on this type of thing. There wasn't much effort witnessed during customer service beyond getting the to go order from the back. There was a gentleman that was responsive to me immediately and provided the order but no "how are you" or just conversation-- which does need to be accounted for to receive a 5 star review. I love this spot and really don't care who's behind the bar if I'm getting a bottled beer and there for a good time with sports on the tv. In-laws were hungry, found this place through Yelp. It's a small corner place made "bigger" through their outdoor patio. Otherwise the inside is mostly bar ringed by one layer of seating. Sports bar is accurate. There were five TVs for the outdoor patio alone. Needless to say, we weren't here for the sports or the alcohol (so I'm not sure why the in-laws picked it). Pretty sizeable menu of options including burgers, hot dogs, soups, tacos, omelettes, and more. Food was prepared reasonably swiftly, so that was nice. The fries were neat-- shaped like scoops with a good outer fried coating. My club sandwich was unfortunately drowning in mayonnaise, which was kinda gross. I got a Dr. Pepper with it, and it was a bit weak, made worse by lots of melting ice... and the server never bothered to get me a refill. :( Pricing was pretty reasonable. We came here for dinner around 6pm on a Thursday night and were seated immediately without a reservation, which was nice. Our server Chris was taking care of us and he did a fine job. As for the food, it was all delicious. The 15 mini corn dogs were a happy hour special at $5 and were very good. My classic cheeseburger entree was also excellent, and my fiancé enjoyed her tri tip sandwich (I tried a bite of it as well and also liked it). It has been years since I have been to Brick's Pub as the last time I ate there I received terrible service. But my daughter had an appointment she behaved really well at and on the way home asked if we could stop for an appetizer somewhere. This place was very conveniently on the way home and so we stopped because we saw a patio. The patio looked cute and my daughter wanted to "sit underneath the flowers." Anyway, we get in and sit down outside, it's seat yourself and someone came out pretty quickly and we ordered waters and then just got a "basket of frings" I gave him my card when I ordered just so we could get it out of the way since that's all we were ordering. We weren't in a rush or expecting to never see him again. We went to the bathroom and as we came out he said here's your check and had me sign it at the bar while my hands were very full, which was a task on its own. I tipped the server $4 on a $5 bill because it wasn't a big check. But that's an 80% tip. We went to sit down and have some water but there were several bits of sediment and chunks of food maybe in our water and we waited for him to come back but he never did. Another waitress came by and dropped off our food and gave us napkins and I let her know there was debris in our water and she said she would get us another water but she never came back either. My daughter's cup was a plastic to go cup with a lid so it was the water that was contaminated wherever they were getting it from and not the cups. We ate our entire appetizer and left without ever getting more water or our server or the other waitress ever coming back again. I guess he thought since we paid out and he got his tip that we no longer needed to be tended to. The fries and onion rings were pretty good though. Service is still awful. read more

Cozy, yet just roomy enough to stand and get around comfortably, warm atmosphere, great food (had the chicken bleu sammich, half cajun / half bacon jam wings, and, the fried okra - the mac 'n cheese is next). The staff are incredibly friendly. The dude with the borked foot is a friggin' trouper! The outdoor patio is covered and comfortable, and, you can enjoy a smoke, on the patio, with your food and / or beverage. Slàinte! read more

Hit the 'Bricks' yesterday for a lunch with an old friend. I've been before but she hadn't heard of it. During our phone call the night before she asked about a good burger joint in Austin area and I mentioned Bricks Pub. Next day she drives down from Round Rock, TX for lunch. She had the Bacon Jam and I tried the Tri-Tip. (I usually do the Jam or Blue cheese burger) She loved the flavor and said it was a great burger! Only problem was the burger was not cooked to her stated temperature per her request when asked by the server upon ordering. It was well done versus medium. My try tip was very tasty however the meat was a little tough. Could have been more tender. Aside from needing a better broiler cook, the ambiance and service was great. We came in to get dinner and watch the UT game. We were seated right away on a Saturday night which sometimes feels like a miracle in Austin. The menu is typical bar fare, I got the pork belly sliders and my husband got a burger. The food was good enough for a pub, not exceptional but it was tasty. It was a great place to watch the game with a ton of TVs and audio. They have a nice, big bar in the middle where welcoming strangers were making friends and talking college football. They also have a big patio out front. The service was quick and effective. We just got beers that night but the cocktail menu looked pretty good, will have to come back drinks. We needed a late-nite dinner after a long day of family events. The pub was open and smelled yummy when we walked in. We were seated in a booth and our server was delightful! Sooo many things sounded good. There was four of us, so we ordered the roasted tomato soup, the mini corn dogs, the burger with bacon jam and the hot dog trio (one of each). Everything was cooked perfectly. The soup was cooked in-house and so flavorful. Loved the mini corn dogs with the mustard. And the burger! Just wow. So juicy and good. The shopping center does tow cars due to several people parking there and running across the street to other alcohol establishments without ample parking. I'm a fan of the Bucktown- Cheddar, Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Hickory BBQ, Romaine, Tomato cooked anyway you like for 14 bucks. Now that is a tasty burger.. Wings are awesome. Being a north Jersey ex-pat the idea of finding actual "ripper" hot dogs in the ATX drew me to Brick Top's Pub. For the uninitiated a NJ ripper is a large hot dog of the skinned variety, deep fried to create a hot, juicy dog with a real "snap" when you bite into it. Like many favorite food items I find in Austin, foods are seldom the same as the originals but they're usually pretty good nevertheless. Brick's Rippers are served as a trio of normal sized but tasty fried franks that are offered in three varieties. I chose the Pepper Dogs, served on a split-top bun like are common in the northeast with a liberal dose of ketchup, yellow mustard, onions and mild jalapeño slices. They looked so colorful I had to snap a photo. They tasted real good although the abundance of condiments became the primary flavors, it was difficult to actually taste the hot dog itself but all in all they were quite yummy and also quite messy - impossible to eat without getting ketchup and mustard all over your hands. Make sure you have enough napkins. I didn't take advantage of the impressive wall of beers on tap but the place had a laid-back vibe that probably makes for a good hang. The staff were friendly and efficient and the place is clean but fairly spartan. A friendly spot for some pub grub and brews. read more
