My families go to Italian restaurant. Excellent: food service and quality. Try the Sunday Sauce and the cheesecake is amazing.

Excellent spot with super warm service, it genuinely felt like a New York style Italian place. The pizza crust was solid, which is non-negotiable for me, and exactly what I'd expect from a home style Italian spot. The overall vibe was great. The only thing I felt was missing was a stronger seafood presence. I would love to see classics like calamari or a spaghetti frutti di mare on the menu. It was really chilly upon coming inside and since there was only one other table, the waiter was nice enough to turn down/off the ac for us. The remainder of his service however, just felt a little off. He spilled water in the beginning then didn't bring me another one until I asked. Then knocked off one of the breads out of the basket when putting it in the table. Then, instead of walking around to put cheese on each of our plates, he leaned over with his arms and elbows across the table and in our faces to reach to the plate on the other side. We ordered a spaghetti marinara, a spaghetti meatballs, a pesto penne and received bread with oil/garlic/pepper in the beginning. The portions were so small in the entrees and overpriced. My little one was still so hungry despite devouring his entire plate before mine even came. The decor was cute and photo oppy though. But, I don't think we will be coming back. read more

Really bums me out to have to update this. In fact, I had a poor experience at Amici about a year ago and i spoke to the owner and she was so nice and apologetic so i just chalked it up to a busy night for a newer restaurant. Specifically, after loving the carbonara the first time i went, the second time the sauce was watery and so much different. But, after giving it another shot, I unfortunately felt the need to update. The SW Austin to Dripping corridor doesn't have many actual restaurants so Ive been really rooting for this one to be great, and I know the owners lived in Jersey so extra points there. But after returning with family in town from NJ, I really need them to improve on a number of things before I can return. The casual ambiance and decor is great, and I've typically found the staff to be very helpful and nice. In fact, the host/busser/runner/customer service young lady was so helpful and so kind. Our server was a very nice young man but clearly overwhelmed with about 4-5 4 top tables under his coverage. He really did his best. In general, I think the restaurant isn't managed as well as it should be, and that creates multiple hiccups in the experience. Little things add up - like...we placed our order and then they came back and said they were out of lasanga (better to be told that right when we are seated). It was difficult to get our bread...just little things like that.. But most of that stuff isn't a dealbreaker as much as the food - the chicken parm was terrible. I took one bite and that was it. It wasn't crispy - or tasty - it was just like a soggy tasteless mess. Even the pasta, the spaghetti had no flavor and the overly acidic tomato sauce slid right off of it. An Italian restaurant with a Little Italy heritage should really nail the chicken parm. speaking of the bread - one of the markers of a great restaurant is warm bread; this was the HEB pan fraces (which we love btw at home) cut up and put on a plate - the olive oil was good though. On the plus side, the salads are rather large! I've liked their pizza in the past and it's fine so I would order it again for delivery. I truly hope they can improve, because there is so much potential there, but for now I am going to have to pin my hopes to Cousin Louies (haven't tried that or Vessa Rossa yet, but am a big fan of Trattoria Lisina in the Drip/Drift area. read more

We searched all over town for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant so that our son could carbo load the night before his Marathon and came across Amici. We called for a last minute reservation and thankfully we were able to get a table. Hostess was sweet and our server was adequate. The complimentary bread was freshly made and soft. I ordered the sausage with penne, peppers, and mushrooms. It was ok... I found the tomato sauce to be runny, thin, and lacked flavor. A hearty tomato sauce sprinkled with red chili flakes would have rocked it. We tried to order the chicken piccata, but were told they were out of it... it's dinner hour and you're already out?! "Amici", is a very nice restaurant that appears very upscale yet can accommodate you even in casual dress. We visited during a cold snap on 2/19/25. Looking for somewhere to eat before we made burial arrangements for my Father in Law. It was about 2:00pm and along with another couple that had just walked in before us, there were only the two tables to serve. The server and possibly the owner was very diligent and effective as she served the needs of both tables and made sure our dinning experience was enjoyable. First of all, the bread she served with olive oil was such a refreshing element. The combination of oil and cheese mixture was perfect. As it was very cold outside so I was really craving a hot drink. The server mentioned that she had her very own personal tea from home to serve us at no charge. I think it was "Basil" tea. Whatever it was it was excellent. Now for the entree. The pizza was hand tossed and cooked to perfection. We still had quite a bit of oil left over from the bread so we enjoyed dipping the pizza crust in it. The garden salad was very good. The dressing was quite impressive. It was a balsamic vinaigrette which I usually don't like, but this one was very good. It almost changed my life! . Now this business is not local for me, but I do need to make a second trip to complete my business in town. I will be sure to enjoy a return visit, and hope to get some more of that delicious tea. This was our second visit to Amici. We began the meal with a Montepulciano red wine from Italy and a mozzarella Caprise, both of which were very good. My Wife chose the special of the day, lobster raviolis, which were divine. I chose the chicken Parmesan, which was also very very good. We finished our meal with a tiramisu dessert. With great regret I am writing this review . . . I want folks to know but frankly want this place all to ourselves, it is great! Intimate, family owned restaurant, husband and wife are running a top-notch experience. I'm not sure who said what or how we were referred / discovered but so happy we went. First visit but not our last. We ordered the Garlic Cheese bread, Homemade Meat Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana over pasta. The Garlic Cheese bread was awesome. Both the lasagna and the chicken parmigiana were very large portions. Enough where I asked for a to go box at the end. My Meat Lasagna was the best I can remember and my 16 year grandson had no trouble finishing his chicken parmigiana. I was so happy I ordered a cheesecake to go for my wife back home. Great food. It's not fast food so it takes just a little longer to prepare. But not long at all. Service was friendly, efficient and entertaining. I met the owners and they shared their history in the food business and vision for this restaurant. I enjoyed the conversation. I will add this to one of my favorites and visit often. read more

Came here for our Valentines dinner. Talk about a HIDDEN GEM. Picked this place initially for the vibe. Seemed like a chill place and the aesthetic is what initially drew us in. I reached out to get a reservation through Yelp and was able to speak directly to the owner who was able to get us set up with a reservation. She was extremely friendly and accommodating to make our day special. The entire team at the restaurant was the friendliest group of people I've ever dealt with in a restaurant. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and friendly during the duration of our stay. TOP NOTCH! Our server was great! Had great drink recommendations and basically advised on our entire order and he did not miss a thing! Was very knowledgeable of the menu and knew which wine would pair best with both of our dishes. Now the important stuff: the food. Started with a peach burrata that was ABSOLUTELY incredible. Bread was fresh, it was a light dish that packed a ton of flavor. We split one of the salads which was also incredible and packed with flavor (which you really have to do because people rarely say things like "I would love a salad right now.") I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it was probably the best chicken parm I have ever had in my life.the chicken was fried perfectly, the sauce was light but extremely fresh, and the pasta was cooked to perfection! My wife had the pasta with mushrooms in it, so I didn't touch it, but she said it was one of the best pasta dishes she has ever had. NY Cheesecake was incredible and a great way to end the meal. I learned about this restaurant from the in-kind app. Went for dinner last night with two friends. Nice selection of beer, wine, and entrées. We tried the cheesy bread as an appetizer which was standard fair. I also enjoyed the arugula salad, which had a nice lemon dressing and the pasta carbonara. There was a very strong flavor in the carbonara which I couldn't put my finger on. Portion was generous enough to take home. I don't think they make their pasta from scratch, but that would be a nice touch. read more

Flavor, texture, authenticity - sigh. I keep hoping I'll find some good Italian food in the Austin area - still not really successful in my search. One plus - bread is served for the table with a nice flavored oil - I hate when Italian restaurants don't serve bread and oil! So points for that. read more

We finally got over to this fairly new restaurant in our area after many attempts and thankfully it went well. Located in a strip center but nicely decorated to create a nice dining experience, this Italian restaurant offer a small menu of basic Italian dishes with a few specials thrown in. We went with the specials for a change of taste as well as some basics for comparison. The special appetizer was a burrata dish drizzled with honey, chopped pistachio and peach slices. We were amazed at how delicious this combination was. We ordered a bottle of Montepulciano wine because on Thursdays they have half off bottles of wine. The other special was a split lobster tail, and shrimp over spaghetti with spicy marinara. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan. everything tasted good and the serving size was nice-sized. We were a little caught off guard at how pricey it felt at end of meal compared to other Italian local restaurants. Service was good, ambiance nice and the owner came by to check on how we enjoyed the meal. They were out of the cheesecake and we were not interested in the other options available. We thought the food was great. The meal began with some nice bread and an olive oil / garlic dipping that was very good. It tasted lemony, but the staff told us there was no lemon in it. Your table is given glasses for water and much like Naples, Italy, a bottle of water is left at the table to fill as you like. We had the spaghetti carbonara and the spaghetti & mussels. Both dishes are excellent. The carbonara was light and very tasteful. The mussels were fresh and I truly enjoyed them. Both plates were plentiful. We took half the carbonara home to enjoy for lunch today. The staff is great. Always attentive to our needs and very friendly. I had lived in Naples for a few years so we were able to speak with them in their native language. Food is quite authentic. The location is ample. Apparenly being shared with Stoney's Pizza (space only); Amici makes their own pizzas. It is difficult to get out of the parking lot going back west, but doable. It is only open in the evenings. Nice cozy Italian outside of Dripping Springs. Plenty of parking and comfy seating. We all had homemade pasta with great sauces. Lasagna was the star of the night, but don't skip the desserts! Just had a wonderful dinner at Amici Ristorante Pizzeria. We enjoyed Chianti, Cleopatra salad, Penne Amatriciana, Fettuccine Giulio Cesare and Jimmy's amazing cheesecake. We opted for no toppings to appreciate the fresh creamy goodness of the cheesecake. It even passed the test of my friend from New Jersey! Good food, great service and not much ambiance. This small cafe shares the same eat in space and counter as Stony's Pizza. Due to this, it is a bit crowded, very little seating if it is very busy at all and conversations from other tables can dominate your own. There is not much that can be done about this as long as they share space. The food is very good and we've already been several times and will go again to continue trying more of the many delicious pasta offerings. Oh! And for now it is BYOB, until they get their liquor license or at least beer and wine license. Gotta love that! I wish it could always be that way! We would go even more often. The Sunday sauce special was great, very homemade tasting - real comfort food. The pastas were properly cooked al dente. They have weekly specials which look very appealing. They have a lot of very appealing deserts. The staff is friendly, responsive and communicative. My one wish is that they would offer a fish filet in a Livornese sauce or other appropriate sauce. What can I say? Hands down the absolute BEST gnocchi I have ever had in 50 years on this planet. Light, fluffy, flavorful. Unbelievable. Would you expect such a high caliber entree from a location tucked into a strip mall alongside 290? No of course not, BUT within 5 minutes of exchanging small talk with the very welcoming female owner, I learned that the place has a serious LEGIT provenance as the family had a well-established restaurant in NYC for years. You can tell. From the first bite of gnocchi I knew she was absolutely telling me the truth. Where this place excels - cozy up to the bar and enjoy a glass of wine with the best Italian food in Hill Country - maybe even all of Austin. It has that cozy family feel at the bar. Dining room looked little sterile and loud, but the service appears on point. They are clearly doing the best they can with the space. The bar section and takeout is where I'll no doubt be regular. I think the prices show value for portion size and given that everything is homemade with top notch ingredients. This is quality Italian. NOT Olive Garden darlin. Bravo to the owners and staff. 2/5 - Disappointing Service & Limited Menu I was really looking forward to trying Amici, but unfortunately, our experience fell short. From the start, service was slow--no one checked on us for the first 10 minutes, and when a server finally did, they jumped straight to asking what we wanted to eat without even taking our drink order. Another five minutes passed before we were finally able to place our meal order. I originally wanted the chicken parmesan, and my boyfriend ordered the lasagna, but we were informed that they were out of the chicken parm, lasagna, chicken piccata, and another dish. We needed a few minutes to rethink our order, and when we finally settled on the Bolognese pizza, the waiter told us they were out of that too. After some back and forth, he said he'd ask the kitchen if they could make it--and luckily, they did. When our food arrived, we had the Bolognese pizza and the Sunday Sauce, but the latter was missing the short rib. The food itself was just okay--definitely not worth the $20+ price tag. Between the long wait times, poor service, and the fact that they were out of half the menu, I won't be coming back. There are much better options for the price. read more

Amici is a wonderful surprise. Yes, it's in a strip mall...but everything else sends you to your favorite restaurant in Little Italy. That is because they moved it to Texas. I never thought to find fried zucchini flowers 18 minutes from my home. I was surprised they offered veal, it's hard to find and my husband loves it. Even better the chef made him an off the menu veal Parmesan. I know all the pastas are handmade, and I did steal some spaghetti from my husband's plate, but I love great pizza. And it was great. The best pizza crust I've had in 40 years of living in Texas, that includes pizza from Italian restaurants in Houston and Dallas. And, oh my the red sauce. It was perfect, fresh and lively. The restaurant and ambience are very cute and well decorated. Service was great appetizers were good and dessert was really good.. however the main dishes were very salty and could not finish eating and should have sent them back for the price. Also, the pizza was burnt. If you burn a pizza, don't give it to the guest. Make a new one. Really wanted to love this place .. read more

We were in the area and had to give this a try! There are a lot of food trucks in this one little spot, so it's nice to be able to try all the different vendors. I will say they were on the pricier side for food trucks. We spent about $43 for two pasta entrees. We wanted to see what the hype was about. Their sauce was very creamy and they give a lot of sauce with your pasta. Everything is made fresh and they give you bread and oil with each entree. For food truck, their pasta was good. They have a lot of options to choose from on their menu. There wasn't a lot of people at this food truck and I'm assuming it's because of the price. It was good and I'd come back to try other items on the menu. read more

Cute little place. Ordered the burrata and it came on a plate with nothing to eat it with. There wasn't a piece of bread or cracker, nothing. My entree was pasta and chicken with truffle and mushroom. The chicken looked like foodservice diced frozen chicken, there was no detectable truffle and my pasta was swimming in water. I didn't drink my water because it tasted like Austin tap water. The best thing about my meal was the garlic knots and cheesecake. The waitstaff can't seem to carry food without putting their thumbs all the way over the edge of the dish. I don't think I would go back. Dinner for 2 was over $100 for 1 app, 2 entrees, 2 teas and 1 dessert and not worth the price. Apparently there should have been complimentary bread and oil at the table.
