    4/26 chicken parm
    Scott S.

Really bums me out to have to update this. In fact, I had a poor experience at Amici about a year ago and i spoke to the owner and she was so nice and apologetic so i just chalked it up to a busy night for a newer restaurant. Specifically, after loving the carbonara the first time i went, the second time the sauce was watery and so much different. But, after giving it another shot, I unfortunately felt the need to update. The SW Austin to Dripping corridor doesn't have many actual restaurants so Ive been really rooting for this one to be great, and I know the owners lived in Jersey so extra points there. But after returning with family in town from NJ, I really need them to improve on a number of things before I can return. The casual ambiance and decor is great, and I've typically found the staff to be very helpful and nice. In fact, the host/busser/runner/customer service young lady was so helpful and so kind. Our server was a very nice young man but clearly overwhelmed with about 4-5 4 top tables under his coverage. He really did his best. In general, I think the restaurant isn't managed as well as it should be, and that creates multiple hiccups in the experience. Little things add up - like...we placed our order and then they came back and said they were out of lasanga (better to be told that right when we are seated). It was difficult to get our bread...just little things like that.. But most of that stuff isn't a dealbreaker as much as the food - the chicken parm was terrible. I took one bite and that was it. It wasn't crispy - or tasty - it was just like a soggy tasteless mess. Even the pasta, the spaghetti had no flavor and the overly acidic tomato sauce slid right off of it. An Italian restaurant with a Little Italy heritage should really nail the chicken parm. speaking of the bread - one of the markers of a great restaurant is warm bread; this was the HEB pan fraces (which we love btw at home) cut up and put on a plate - the olive oil was good though. On the plus side, the salads are rather large! I've liked their pizza in the past and it's fine so I would order it again for delivery. I truly hope they can improve, because there is so much potential there, but for now I am going to have to pin my hopes to Cousin Louies (haven't tried that or Vessa Rossa yet, but am a big fan of Trattoria Lisina in the Drip/Drift area.

Great portion sizes for the price and the taste was excellent!! The staff were extremely nice and good and providing suggestions. Our food came quickly and we were able to get a table without a reservation which was nice. We will be back again to try the highly recommended pizzas.

We've been ride-or-die since the food truck days, and now that they've leveled up to a brick-and-mortar--BABY, it's giving nonna's kitchen vibes! Great mom pop service ! Now let's talk Alfredo Wednesday--, if you're not here for this, what are you even doing with your life? Silky, cheesy, and straight-up sinful. And the hot honey pizza? Omg. Crispy-bottomed perfection. That thin crust? Had me out here contemplating my life choices. It's the crust of my crusty dreams. Haven't found the perfect crust in ATX for awhile! Glad we have this awesome eatery out this way!

We searched all over town for a reasonably priced Italian restaurant so that our son could carbo load the night before his Marathon and came across Amici. We called for a last minute reservation and thankfully we were able to get a table. Hostess was sweet and our server was adequate. The complimentary bread was freshly made and soft. I ordered the sausage with penne, peppers, and mushrooms. It was ok... I found the tomato sauce to be runny, thin, and lacked flavor. A hearty tomato sauce sprinkled with red chili flakes would have rocked it. We tried to order the chicken piccata, but were told they were out of it... it's dinner hour and you're already out?! Oh well. Others ordered the bolognese and meatball appetizer- both were ok. Overall, it did its job, but I've had better..

"Amici", is a very nice restaurant that appears very upscale yet can accommodate you even in casual dress. We visited during a cold snap on 2/19/25. Looking for somewhere to eat before we made burial arrangements for my Father in Law. It was about 2:00pm and along with another couple that had just walked in before us, there were only the two tables to serve. The server and possibly the owner was very diligent and effective as she served the needs of both tables and made sure our dinning experience was enjoyable. First of all, the bread she served with olive oil was such a refreshing element. The combination of oil and cheese mixture was perfect. As it was very cold outside so I was really craving a hot drink. The server mentioned that she had her very own personal tea from home to serve us at no charge. I think it was "Basil" tea. Whatever it was it was excellent. Now for the entree. The pizza was hand tossed and cooked to perfection. We still had quite a bit of oil left over from the bread so we enjoyed dipping the pizza crust in it. The garden salad was very good. The dressing was quite impressive. It was a balsamic vinaigrette which I usually don't like, but this one was very good. It almost changed my life! . Now this business is not local for me, but I do need to make a second trip to complete my business in town. I will be sure to enjoy a return visit, and hope to get some more of that delicious tea. Hands down the best cheesecake in town! Fluffy, not overly sweet, and packed with flavor--this is cheesecake done right. Every bite was pure heaven. Honestly, this place has ruined all other cheesecakes for me... nothing else even comes close now. If you're a cheesecake lover (or even if you're not), trust me--you won't be disappointed! Their pizzas and pastas are delicious as well!

Very pleasant environment with friendly professional service. We ordered McConauhaze IPA's. I ordered the Polpette--3 homemade meatballs in marinara sauce. We opted to split the Shrimp Fra Diavolo (spicy) over pasta. Both dishes were excellent. We recommend it highly and will return soon.

This was our second visit to Amici. We began the meal with a Montepulciano red wine from Italy and a mozzarella Caprise, both of which were very good. My Wife chose the special of the day, lobster raviolis, which were divine. I chose the chicken Parmesan, which was also very very good. We finished our meal with a tiramisu dessert. The husband and wife duo that run this restaurant take meticulous care, ensuring that their guests have a five star dining experience. If you're ever in the area, please give this restaurant a try. We give it five stars.

First visit but not our last. We ordered the Garlic Cheese bread, Homemade Meat Lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana over pasta. The Garlic Cheese bread was awesome. Both the lasagna and the chicken parmigiana were very large portions. Enough where I asked for a to go box at the end. My Meat Lasagna was the best I can remember and my 16 year grandson had no trouble finishing his chicken parmigiana. I was so happy I ordered a cheesecake to go for my wife back home. Great food. It's not fast food so it takes just a little longer to prepare. But not long at all. Service was friendly, efficient and entertaining. I met the owners and they shared their history in the food business and vision for this restaurant. I enjoyed the conversation. I will add this to one of my favorites and visit often.

Fettuccine Giulio Cesare is my new fav dish
    Shane R.

10/10. We had the Fettuccine Giulio Cesare and it was one of the better dishes I've had in a while. We also tried the Gnocchi Pesto and added chicken to it...very tasty as well. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable and was great with our kids. Small/quaint dining room would be great for a date night. We'll definitely be back.

Pizzas average. It's all about ratios. No buffalo mozzarella on the margarita- and it ain't cheap.

The Buzz is the Craft Beer Bar in the Whole Foods in Bee Cave…read more Don't knock going to Whole Foods to drink. The comparable establishment at Whole Foods Domain - the Draft Shack - is one of the two best beer bars in Austin. (The other one is the Beer Plant) And, no, I do not want to hear all the anguished cries of pain from fans of Bangers, the Draught House, Pinthouse etc. etc. etc. In terms of quality of selection, the Draft Shack and the Beer Plant are it. And just in case, I checked this out with God, the last time he was Yelping in Austin. (He was having Korean Fried Chicken at Seoulju, where He was impressed.) He agrees with me on the beer places. * * * The Buzz is not as impressive as the Draft Shack. There are forty percent fewer beers. There are a lot more you-can-get-them-lotsa-places items (Celis, Left Hand Milk Stout). The rare items are not necessarily well chosen. I had a Rocket Fuel - a Vietnamese coffee porter. This is, for all intents and purposes, chocolate milk passing itself off as beer. * * * However, the headline story of Buzz is the scenery and the location. This is more of a place to hang out rather than a place to get fussy over your beer. The room itself is no great shakes, but there are three balconies and these make all the difference. You can overlook the store. You can sit outdoors on the service side and look at the doctor's office across the street. Or you can go whole-hog I-love-the-Hill-Country-Galleria, and sit on the main balcony and look out at one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the Galleria. In the Draft Shack in the Domain, you can kind of forget where you are and lose yourself in the room. It is a small internal place where all the views look inward. The Buzz wants you to sit on a balcony and see the world. So a lot depends on whether you love or hate the Galleria. The couple behind me were all-out Galleria lovers. They had been there much of the afternoon. It was quite clear that this was a destination good time for them. They had picked two chairs with good views and were wholly immersed in the passing scene. I would guess they were regulars. I am fascinated, intrigued and repulsed by the Galleria all at once. It is a fake artificially-planned city - in the tradition of the Domain Austin or the District at Green Valley Ranch in Las Vegas. For a shopping mall/city it is surprisingly well done. They put City Hall and the Public Library right in the middle of the mall. City Hall is an impressive structure. Bee Cave Police Headquarters is also right in the mall. So they do what they can to make this a real town. Citizens can go to the Galleria to attend City Council meetings and give speeches at the mike about the motion under consideration. There are public squares. There are large single family homes, of urban design but pretty nice looking. There are sitting places on the corners for people. People can and do sit on the corner benches and talk to their friends. The Galleria feels both planned and synthetic. However, it is the bona fide center of the City of Bee Cave. Life revolves around it. The store and restaurant line-up is pretty decent. There are places I would want to eat, places I would want to hang out, places I would want to drink coffee and places I would want to shop. (I actually did shop while I was there. I loved H & M.) Real offices overlook much of the scenery. The sign on the wall at Buzz promises that the balcony offers views of real Hill Country sunsets. That is kind of hard since neither balcony faces west. Just between the wall of Whole Foods, and the wall across the street of the European Wax Center, you get a ten degree snippet where you can make out a sliver of western sunset sky. I suspect most of the customers get better Hill Country views from the windows of their own homes. * * * That said, the comings and goings of the street below are not uninteresting. The Austin hippie/techie count is low but not zero. The rich teenager count is high. Half are accompanied by Mom or Dad. The unchaperoned kids do shenanigans. The shoppers have their dramas, just as shoppers always have their dramas. The late afternoon light makes everything warm and inviting. It makes you almost want to take a job at one of the offices where the sun is pouring in. * * * So passing an afternoon at the Buzz is not the worst torture that life can mete out to you. But I would still rather drink at Whole Foods Domain. The scenery here is nice. But Austin is not short of bars with great crowds and great scenery.

One of the balconies has a view of the lake, which is my favorite. The drafts are reasonably priced, with most being $5 for a pint. This was a nice discovery inside the market.

Because of the holiday, the place wasn't that crowded.  Lots of folks going in and out of doors, so there were quite a few flies inside. We were seated immediately and given our card to post when we were ready to order. As noted in other yelp reviews, there wasn't a real clear explanation given about the posting of the "we're ready to order card," but we figured out that it goes in the small metal holder on top of the paper towel stand on the table.  Cudos for the perforated paper towels, we've been to other similar restaurants where the paper towels are not perforated, making it very difficult to tear off a sheet or two. We stopped two different servers to ask questions about several items on the menu before we ordered, both were generally unaware of how food was being prepared and put together in the kitchen.  What is sofrito rice?  "Uh, it's red rice, I don't know what's in it."  What are myacoba refried beans?  "Uh, beans that are mashed up."  You get the picture... Ultimately, we were able to order food and a flight of beers.  We ordered the brisket tacos and the flauta basket (electing to have 4 of the chicken flautas).  The food was excellent, ingredients very fresh, flavor profiles well developed, a little bit of heat in everything.  The brisket tacos were probably some of the best we've ever had!  The flautas were just downright decadent.  Rolled tortillas, deep fried, topped with charred jalapeno avocado salsa, pico de gallo, crema and cotija cheese.  Delicious! For our beer flight, we sampled each of the wild craft beers (ingredients foraged from the property and put in the beer) and the red pale ale.  I must say the wild craft beers were different, we liked the nope ale the best, it was almost like a rose wine.  The red pale ale was very good. Bottom Line:  service, average;  food, excellent;  beer, just OK.  We did not have a "gotta go back there" experience at Beerburg Brewing.
