Aloha Poké bowl with sauce on the side

I was in town all week on business, and tried a few different healthy restaurants. Honest Mary's was the absolute standout! The service was friendly and fast. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, the vibe was modern and relaxing. I ordered the Aloha Poké bowl, it did not even need the dressing. The flavors keep together beautifully. Next time in Austin, this will be a staple.

Happy to have y'all in the Mueller neighborhood, and I'm definitely excited to be a regular. An allergy-friendly and healthy food option has been sorely lacking from the area, and Honest Mary's is definitely a very tasty player for filling that niche. I've already been in twice since their opening, and both bowls have been fantastic. Both Poke and Chicken protein options are delicious, and the topping options are both fresh and innovative. I've been adding the gremolata, which I find very interesting. Gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options available. The staff were very knowledgeable with answering any questions I had, which is a GREAT sign -- being trained so well so quickly. I attended their grand opening event as well, and they really know how to kick things off with a burst of enthusiasm. I wish them well and look forward to many pleasant lunches in the coming months and years.

Attended Honest Mary's grand opening and I'm sure glad that we have this new addition to the Mueller area! There is both indoor and outdoor seating-- the interior looks very minimalistic and clean with purchaseable merch. Both times I've been to Honest Mary's, the employees have been extremely knowledgeable to my questions. Their menu includes signature bowls as well as the option to build your own. The first bowl I got at the grand opening included sweet potatoes, edamame, avocado, chicken, arugula, and lemon herb yogurt. The second bowl is black rice, tofu, squash, slaw, and cauliflower. Both times the protein tasted warm so I know they were not left on the counter for too long. Can't wait to come by again to try one of their Signature Bowls!

I'm always looking for more healthful restaurants, but we all have different health needs. So many "healthy" restaurants end up being high carb and low protein, and Honest Mary's is no different. So it's not high high carb, but it's not high high protein either. I try to eat high protein, with limited processed carbs. Of course we can pay extra for more protein, but the protein choices were a little limited - no cheesy cheeses (only feta and goat cheese) and no salmon, tuna, bacon, or other meat and dairy that lend a lot of flavor to our veggies. Fortunately, we can customize our bowls, which makes up for a lot of the disappointment. So many other restaurants leave you stuck with things you don't want to eat, in order to get the things you want. There was none of this here! I meant to be good and get spinach as my base, but I was curious to try the farro even though it's a higher carb grain. They let me do part farro and part spinach as my base. Once I was doing that kind of thing, I also asked for half beef, half chicken, which they were cool with. After that, I stopped the special requests. There were lots of veggies that I wanted to try, and my bowl turned out pretty good. Still, it didn't quite satisfy me, and I ended up overeating later, because I was still craving more. My friend planned for a group of five of us ladies to meet here for a healthy birthday brunch this past Sunday. We had the place to ourselves when we got there at 11, and so ordering went quickly and smoothly. We ended up staying and talking for a long long time, but there were enough other empty seats that we didn't seem to be imposing on them. One of the staff members was kind enough to take our picture! I'm sure I'll be back, because my friends love this place. As long as I temper my expectations, I can get a decent meal here too.

This was my first time at an Honest Mary's. This location was so nice! The interior was clean and it was in a walkable area with plenty of street/garage paid parking. We went at 1:45pm on Monday and it wasn't crowded at all. We walk right up to order. I got a build your own bowl with rice, quinoa, spinach, chicken, mushrooms, broccoli, cucumber and goat cheese. I love the wide variety of toppings especially the goat cheese! The chicken was good but could be seasoned a little more. I did come across a tendon or something rough but that's okay. The lemon garlic dressing was delicious and complimented all the flavors well. Next time I'll probably swap out the broccoli for another option. The mushrooms were really yummy! Since this was my first time the menu was a little confusing since I didn't realize all the categories had quantity limitations. I might have prioritized a crunchy topping instead of the ones I got.

The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!

A manager kindly helped seat us at the last table that could fit a high chair, and our server was perfectly pleasant. Then we watched an older Uber Eats driver ask for an update on an order after being told it would be ready in five minutes. More than ten minutes later, when he checked again, the assistant manager was openly rude and dismissive. He told the driver he could not make the kitchen move any faster and then said, "Why don't you leave and come back then if you're in such a hurry." That interaction was bad enough that we canceled our food order, paid for our drinks, and left. When asked why, I explained exactly what we had witnessed. The response: "Don't worry about that, he's just an Uber driver." That told us everything we needed to know. We do not want to support a business where management treats people that way and then defends it. We will not be back. John, you should be ashamed of yourself.

In my experience, this equates to the best of both worlds - comfort food on a seasonally-driven menu with some key staples that keep me coming back for more. Atmosphere is cozy, although the details in presentation and service are first-class. We started with the signature Gruyère & Black Pepper Popovers - light & rich at once, with an original and slightly sweet charred onion butter. Also exceptional: a garden salad with mixed greens, end-of-season peaches, goat cheese, and smoked walnuts - perfectly balanced in a light vinaigrette. The Ham & Gruyère Croquettes took everything I love about grilled cheese and packaged it up in a few elegant bites (Dijon cream sauce for a zesty grown-up finish). My highlight (and Achilles when dining - also judging by very high standards) was the handmade Nduja Radiatorre - pasta perfectly al denté, clinging to a rich and savory sauce with back-end heat of spicy sausage, contrasted with sweet fresh corn, exquisite. To finish - a Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake. Fudgy, studded with pecans, hitting all the high-notes just like Grandma makes it. It's more of a polished, comfortable place that still feels approachable. The dining room has a warm, almost wine-cellar feel, with exposed brick and fairly low lighting. When we visited on a weeknight it was packed, so I highty recommend making a reservation. The crowd seemed to be a mix of business dinners, client meetings, and people celebrating occasions.
