Searched for a wholesome lunch while out and about on Saturday, and found Honest Mary's. Casual spot with comfortable modern decor and easy listening music. Walked up to the counter, ordered, paid and took a seat at an open table. They have signature bowls but you can also build your own. I ordered the honey mustard chicken bowl and swapped the jalapeños for pickled red onion and added edamame. My daughter had the chimichurri steak bowl. My bowl was filled with whole grains, fresh greens, roasted veggies and delicious grilled chicken. It was tasty and satisfying. Great to find this spot that allows me to maintain my whole food lifestyle. read more

The tables were all dirty! The staff were rude and did not even greet you when we walked in. The avocados had brown spots and tasted rotten!

Went here for a healthy dinner with Lauren B. It was a pre-workout class dinner, so we wanted something healthy, nourishing and not too heavy. Honest Mary's fit the bill. It was hosting a school fundraiser that night, so it was a bit more crowded and lively than we would have liked, but the food was good and the staff were helpful. I went for the Sedona Lime bowl. It includes Basmati rice, spinach, black beans, sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds, cashew lime crema sauce (so good!) and a lime wedge. The flavors all blended well together and it was just enough to make me full, but not overly so. The seating area was bright and clean. All in all, it was a good meal that I know was good for me. read more

This was my first vist to Honest Mary's, I was treated to lunch here by a co worker. It is a nice little gem tucked away in the arboretum shopping center. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. If you're looking for a lunch that will do your body good and not weigh you down for the remainder of your workday, this is your spot. read more

Running errands today and felt a little hungry. I stopped into Honest Mary's. I did get an email stating their new farro bowl, and wanted to try it. I walked up to the counter, said I'd like the farro bowl. She asked what protein I wanted. I decided on the tofu. She made my bowl pretty quick. I paid for the meal, found an empty table and started in. The farro bowl comes with mushrooms, pumpkin seeds, carrots, and spinach. The dressing is good. I think it was a little watered down though. Tofu wasn't marinated or anything, just a plain flavor. The farro bowl was good. Like to try something else next time. read more

For healthy food on the go, this is the place. Local to Austin but soon expanding into Houston, they are purveyors of bowls that that nourish and taste delicious. My favorite is the Sedona Lime with Southwest flavors and pumpkin seeds for crunch (I add jalapeño and pickled onion). Paired with a Richard's sparkling and I'm ready to meet my next challenge or ease into the day. read more

Honest Mary's - Sedona Lime + options - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

It has been a while since I have dined at Honest Mary's. First, let me just say I rarely give two star ratings however, Honest Mary's was deserving of this rating. First, when I was deciding on my bowl one of the appealing ingredients was avocado. One of the servers gave me avocado that was brown, which apparently had oxidized. When I asked for fresh avocado, she gave me some fresh avacado.. She acted as though she was annoyed by my request. So I grabbed my bowl to sit down to eat. Then while eating I noticed the overflowing trashcan. At this juncture. I didn't want it anymore because I felt like cleanliness was not a priority at Honest Mary's, So before leaving I went to use the restroom. Much to my surprise, he restroom trashcan was overflowing with trash as well. One thing that was super clear to me is that cleanliness is not a top priority for Honest Mary's. When I pointed out to one of the servers that their trashcan in the main dining room was overflowing, she retorted, "we've been very busy. We'll get to it." Needless to say this was a sub optimal dining experience for me. The likelihood of me returning to honest Mary's is extremely low. read more

I really assumed this would be my last visit to Honest Mary's, what I learned tonight is the weekend staff is completely different compared to the staff during the week. I will never again go Friday - Sunday evening, strictly Monday - Thursday. the food is always good and an easy replacement to cooking a healthy meal and compared to meal pre places Community Kitchen, Snap Kitchen and Meal Proz you get more food for the price, in many instances less than the price of the other places and it is 100% fresh. read more

This is our go to place when we don't know what to eat but know we need to eat something healthy and won't let us down. I love their sipping broth especially during my first trimester of pregnancy. The service is fast and it's a solid to go meal. The meats have a solid flavor and definitely hits the point. read more

While traveling back to Houston from the Hill Country, we decided to stop in and eat at Honest Mary's. Located in a shopping center, there was ample parking, which is always nice when you are trying to get in, get out and get on with your life. It's counter service, and when you walk in you need to make a left apparently to start ordering. The guy working was neither friendly nor helpful. He wasn't rude or anything, he was just very blah and he could not answer any of my husband's questions. I ordered the Mediterranean harissa bowl with chicken. It was tasty and the portion was just right to get me back to Houston. The interior of this place is nice and bright, and it's very clean. While I cannot say I will ever be back here, it is a nice place for lunch if you are in the area. read more

Whenever I am in the area and hungry, I gravitate to honest Mary's. I do not eat meat, but I have plenty of options here. I feel like it's a tiny bit expensive for a place where you order at a register, but it's worth it to put good food into your body. You will definitely leave full. The space is clean and bright. It has a nice ambiance. I personally wish they would serve coffee here, like that would complete this place for me, but I guess that is not their thing and that's okay. I will 100% be back. Today's bowl was quinoa, tofu, edamame-like beans, avocado, mushrooms, pumpkin squash, and a peanut sauce (it was a custom bowl, I know that's kind of a weird combo haha)... perfect place to grab a meal in between a little Arboretum shopping :) read more

On the recommendation of a friend, i decided to give Honest Mary's a try, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Mediterranean Harissa bowl topped with Ahi Tuna. Along with the meal, I had Green Yaopon Iced Tea. The meal was delicious and full of flavor. It was quite filling but lite enough that I didn't feel uncomfortable after eating the meal. The tuna was raw, so it sort of made the meal a poke bowl. I would consider this restaurant in one of the healthier choices. The service is all done at the counter. However, the tables were clean as well as the restroom. There are shared tables and small tables for 2 inside the restaurant. There is also outdoor seating. The parking lot is shared by several businesses and is adequate to accommodate all of Honest Mary's patrons. So if you are looking for a light but filling meal, then look no more and give Honest Mary's a try! read more

Vibe- The style of this restaurant reminds me of CAVA or Chipotle. There was plenty of seating inside and the staff was super helpful and nice. My favorite thing about this place was all the greenery all around! :) Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I ordered the Sedona lime bowl with tofu and got a cold pressed juice to drink; they were both so good. Parking- There's plenty of spots in the lot the restaurant sits in. read more

Came here for a quick healthy meal. Ordered pick up and the service was really fast. I can't really say about the interior, but it looks nice. They have seating on the outside side. The food quality is good. The salmon and avocado is fresh and delicious. The sauces that came with it was really yummy too. The only thing I can complain about is that the bowl is not really full. I was still a little hungry afterward. Maybe I need two. Lol. Good for a small stomach but might need more for a someone with a bigger stomach. But their price for their bowl is not bad too. So that makes up for it. I would recommend ppl to come out and try it. read more

Honest Mary's - Fresh Poke Bowl - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

My husband and I have been eating at this Honest Mary's location for over five years and are usually big fans of the Aloha Poké bowl. However, when I got it for dinner last night, within three hours I became violently ill and have been sick for the past 15+ hours with all the classic food poisoning symptoms (I'll spare you the details, save for saying that my fever is over 101*F, which is the threshold for recommended emergency care). Don't risk it - it's not worth it. read more

My husband and I went here for lunch yesterday. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air for people who want to eat healthy! They have bowls that one can put together themselves or they have bowls already suggested on their menu. They have spinach and cucumber salad and carrots and hummus and edamame and grilled chicken and steak, Forbidden rice, and the list goes on. I got a wonderful miso salad. When I asked to remove the jalapeños, they said I could replace it with anything I wanted, so I opted to replace it with cucumber salad. It was a wonderful meal. I was also able toget my favorite water, which is rainwater made in Austin, Texas! They have many healthy drinks to choose from. They also have some healthy candy that you can get on the way out. They have seating indoors and outdoors. I absolutely loved my lunch. I wish I lived closer to Austin just to eat at this restaurant! I guarantee that every time I'm that area I will be visiting honest Mary's for a new bowl. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. It was a little loud inside because there were a lot of people talking at the same time, which is to be expected when you have a very busy restaurant! I highly suggest you visit this restaurant! read more

I sure am glad I don't put a lot of stock into negative reviews esp when few and far between because this place was a solid choice for dinner tonight! Everyone was so helpful, the bowl was plentiful and incredibly tasty. Someone made a comment about the bowl being dry. Honest Mary's - Poblano bowl with chicken - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

Was around the area and wanted a healthy and light lunch. Went it and tried their poblano bowl. Not to be rude but it was a super dry. No sauce or condiment or any kind. Just a small scoop of goat cheese. I wasn't very impressed the flavors were very so so. When you have dry basmati rice as a base for anything you need something on the side so doesn't make you feel like your having bird food. You can add protein to the bowl but honestly don't think chicken or tofu would have made a big difference. The cucumber lime Fresca was refreshing so I'll give them 1 star for that. The place is nice and has cute decor. read more

I have been a loyal patron of Honest Mary's Arboretum since it opened in 2017. I am not exaggerating when I say I've had hundreds of bowls from there. I am a big fan!! I love it, and have turned so many friends and family onto it. The staff is always kind and friendly, the portions are good and I love the healthy options! Why 4 out of 5 stars? I'd say of the last ~50 bowls, 48 of them have contained roasted sweet potatoes that I can only describe as rock hard. Completely al dente. So hard, in fact, that I can't distinguish if I bit into a carrot or a sweet potato, as I get both in my bowl. The first few times I thought it was an off week. The next few times I was annoyed. All of the times since then, I don't know if I'm more baffled at the consistency of the al dente prep or by my willingness to keep ordering them. Fool me twice, shame on me situation. I literally am writing my first Yelp review at nearly 1am to beg you all to cook them longer. I'm at the point where I'm considering other places because of how poorly the sweet potatoes are cooked. Please, please pull through for me so I can keep frequenting your establishment and get my beloved sweet potatoes. I appreciate the consideration! read more

I was a little disappointed in the serving size and over all cleanliness of the restaurant.

I had eaten at a different HM location a few times a while back. This one was OK. Service was efficient and courteous. Two out of our four ordered bowls included an incredibly over seasoned (way too salty) steak. Probably just an off day, I suppose, but it was disappointing. The atmosphere was bright, cherry and clean. I'd maybe try again sometime to see if the steak issue was an anomaly. read more

The food was very good. The service was accommodating as I had just gotten out of surgery recently.

It was my first time coming here. I built my own bowl with poke, edamame, carrots, sweet potato, with a garlic sauce. All the ingredients taste fresh. I noticed that the signature bowls that already have ingredients picked is less expensive than building your own, so next time l will do that. There is a lot of seating indoors and long tables. There is a lot of food in the bowl-expect a lot of chewing! It tastes good and healthy. There is no extra cost to add avocado, which is a plus! I was surprised that I could only choose two of the toppings in each category when there is no limit at other places, which is why I rate it 4 stars. read more

Honest Mary's - Poke bowl - New American Near Me - Austin, Texas

This was my first time back in six years, mostly because there have been so many other gluten and dairy free restaurants that have opened since then. The only reason I came back here is because I had a gift card. I ordered the golden grain bowl plus chicken. I felt like they were chintzy with the goat cheese and dressing. Six years ago, at their soft opening, their almond butter cookie used to taste like baking soda. Now, it tastes like cardboard, albeit without the bitter aftertaste. I treated my skinnier girlfriend to a free lunch, and she didn't like the taste of her build-your-own bowl. She's giving her leftovers to her husband. Perhaps I'll give my remaining gift card to my husband, who's on keto. read more

Why 3 stars? Because I love the B(uild)YOB concept, but just not this one. --- --- --- I'm so sad to write this review. I just was very let down from my experience. After a couple of days at Kalahari Resort, we'd eaten like pigs and were looking for something at least somewhat healthy. After some hunting on Yelp, once I found Honest Mary's I was so happy - it was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a base of rice, with steak, broccoli, brussels sprouts, asian slaw and feta, topped off with balsamic vinaigrette. Perfect, right? Sadly, I found it to be on par with a lot of what we'd just eaten at Kalahari - fine, but certainly not worth coming back for. The people in here seemed very nice, which is why it pains me to write this. But if I'm being truthful, I've had many better bowls than what I experienced from Honest Mary's. read more

First time trying this place. It was very busy on a Saturday at 12:30 but thankfully they had tables outside. I had the smoky poblano bowl and would absolutely recommend it! You definitely need to like corn because mine had a tooooon of it. I think everything in the bowl paired well together. The poblano sauce is amazing! I wanted to lick the cup of it clean! My only complaint is the amount of goat cheese in the bowl. I don't think it would quite fit into a tablespoon so they could add a little more. Still two thumbs up as it's nice to have an option that fills you up but doesn't feel heavy. read more

Wife and I visited around 12:30 for a Saturday lunch. There were plenty of people also partaking, but it wasn't overly packed. The restaurant was very clean and relatively quiet. Bathrooms were clean. We both ordered the Aloha Poke. It was perfect. Fresh non-fishy tuna with extremely fresh veggies and perfectly cooked basmati. Tasty MYO bowl place with plenty of options! They have salad and grains options for base, a handful of proteins, and a good number of toppings. I got spinach, grilled chicken (solid) as protein, roasted brussel sprouts, roasted sweet potato (well seasoned), avocado (no extra charge!), and chickpeas (crunchyyy). Their spicy peanut dressing was not bad, but I'd try something else next time. Plenty of parking in the plaza and there's seating indoors as well as outdoors. It's a bit pricy ($13) for a chicken bowl, so I won't be a regular but I'd come back! read more

There are rarely restaurants that I am IN LOVE with on first bite, but Honest Mary's is one of them! My friend took me here and I was amazed by the quality of the ingredients, good clean vibes, and taste of the food. Think of it like a "healthy chipotle" where you can build your own bowl or get a pre-paired bowl from their menu. There are rarely any fast-casual places that have good service, tasty food, and quality ingredients at a reasonable price point but I think Honest Mary's beats Flower Child (another popular local hit) by far. The sauce really makes a difference in the taste of the food. Get the spicy garlic peanut one (looks orange) and you won't regret it. The green sauce I got tasted a bit like Trader Joe's Green Goddess and didn't have as much flavor, but other than that this is a must-visit place if you're into healthy and guilt-free clean eating. Portion of the bowl was very generous and they let you pick one or two ingredients per section. Ask if you can also do half and half of certain things- they can customize too! Now that I'm writing this I am craving the taste of their bowls again, I'll be back.. Honestly! (Pun intended) read more
