It's hard to find pasta and pizzas in the same menu and North Italian did good with that. My order: Zucchi chips Cacio e Pepe Pizza Zucchini chips were thin wafers fried gold brown with batter. I found it to be plain and bland so requested for a dipping sauce and got the pesto aioli and it immediately brightened the moods. The chips by itself was a great snack too! The pizza on the other hand was bland too but the pecorino and cheese from Cacio e pepe tasted perfect and the combo just kept it going. Loved the ambiance and the atmosphere. The pizza was delicious! Had pepperoni and sausage for toppings and I also asked for hot honey on the side. This was a great combo. I went here around my birthday and they were sweet enough to give me such a pretty cake on the house! I also enjoyed their mocktail, it was definitely on the sweeter side which I liked. The pasta was okay, the pesto pasta could've had more pesto flavor but overall I did enjoy it and the color made it fun/instagrammable. Vodka pasta was decent but nothing too memorable. My brother was in town from San Antonio, TX to take me out to celebrate a work milestone and like with most sibling meetups, the goal was to catch up without rushing. North Italia gave us the space we needed for a leisurely visit. North Italia features architectural clean lines, soaring ceilings, and an open, airy atmosphere throughout the restaurant. In addition, the floor to ceiling windows allowed us to do some degree of people watching as folks meandered down Century Oaks at the Domain shopping center. Alex, our server, immediately presented us with menus. My brother ordered the bolognese, and I ordered the sausage Stromboli. The bolognese was almost like Lasagna that my brother initially wanted but had been sold out. He loved the bolognese with added spinach and short ribs. My Stromboli was a bit spicey, which Alex mentioned initially yet not too spicy. Both dishes were appealing and we both enjoyed our respective dishes. The pasta had an ideal mix of sauce, meat, and vegetables. Every bite was more delicious than the next. The dining experience was light and enjoyable just like our conversation. Brunch service was amazing. Last minute decision to go out for brunch on a Sunday. My husband was able to snag a reservation at 11:30 am for 4. We arrived and was seated immediately. Not too busy / crowded when we got to the Domain. Our server was very sweet and very attentive. We started off with 2 cocktails - Passione & Breakfast Mule with the Heirloom Tomato & Burrata plate. The Passione was light and refreshing, alcohol not to overpowering. The same for the Breakfast Mule. Both cocktails went well with our appetizer and brunch meals. We ordered the Tuscan Hash with Braised Short Rib, Pollo Fritto, Americano & Breakfast Rosa. We each ordered and shared a few bites to taste. The Tuscan Hash with Braised Short rib and the short rib was cooked to perfection and blended well with the poached egg and hash. The Pollo Fritto was cooked well, however my son wasn't a fan of the sauce. He ate it anyways and said overall was good but not great because of the sauce. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting, and the staff was attentive and polite throughout our visit. We started with the shrimp scampi and beef carpaccio. The shrimp scampi was definitely the standout--well-cooked, flavorful, and my favorite of the two. The carpaccio was good as well, just nothing particularly memorable. For our entrees, we both ordered the chicken Parmesan. My friend had it with noodles, while I swapped mine for smashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and had just the right amount of sauce. The smashed potatoes were a great choice, but after trying her pasta, I have to say the sauce paired with the noodles was delicious--I'd probably go that route next time. Even at that hour, we were surprised to see the restaurant completely packed with a long waiting list--definitely a sign of how popular it is. For drinks, I ordered the Cabernet Sauvignon (Iconoclast "By Chimney Rock," Napa Valley), which was smooth and enjoyable. My husband went with the Sangria and "Ciao, Bella!", while my son chose the "Just Peachy"--all great choices that complemented the meal well. We started with the White Truffle Garlic Bread, which was delicious and a great way to kick things off. For the main course, my husband and I shared the Trottole Chicken Pesto pasta, and my son ordered the Hot Honey & Smoked Prosciutto Pizza. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. This is my second time to a North Italia within a month. After enjoying dining in at the downtown location, I decided to get take out at the location at the Domain. Collin was very friendly and helpful on the phone when I placed my order. In addition to ordering food for myself, I asked some questions about their family prep meals and he shared a lot of helpful info. I ordered the smashed meatball ragu, bottled margarita, and, arnold palmer. The entree was good, but I felt it had way too much onion in it. The pieces were just so big and overwhelming. The margarita was extremely strong and I made it tastier and stretch further by mixing in some sparkling water. That definitely made it taste better and lower it from 24% abv. I don't think I would order the ragu again and likely will stick to pizza again next time cause it was so good on my first visit at the other location. But the staff is friendly when you pick up your order and I was happy to give them a tip even on a take out order. read more

Came to North after a day of shopping & it was a great way to end our day! We came for a late dinner after seeing this was a popular place at lunch time. We sat at the communal high top & even though it was a pretty busy time, we got in immediately. They also have a heated patio (it was chilly today) so lots of options. We asked our waitress what was a good portion (after reading some reviews about smaller entrees) and she recommended either the meatballs, chicken parm or the braised short rib. We got the short rib and WOW it did not disappoint. I probably could have taken some home but it was delicious and I was very hungry. North Italia used to be one of our go-to restaurants back in Miami. This visit was overall very good, with a couple of small differences from what I was used to. I ordered the meatballs to start, and while they were tasty, the polenta wasn't quite as generous or creamy as the version I remembered from Miami. Still enjoyable, just not as memorable. Salmon for the entree for me - It was cooked perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside and the horseradish sauce (I know, right!?) actually balanced the fish beautifully. I love horseradish, so it was a pleasant surprise. The broccoli on the side was another highlight: bright, fresh, and full of flavor. Chicken parm was as always delicious with nothing to add really. 4 star because the place was on a louder side perhaps from the music and it was darker than usual at our part of the restaurant and by the table. I'll be honest I don't see a lot of advertisement surrounding this place but good if you're looking for a nice Italian meal wanting to try something new. A couple of people in my party didn't get their soups for their lunch special they were running and we also didn't get our bread and butter (the complimentary app) until a while later and by the time I ate my appetizer their bread came out. I don't feel like any of that was explained and I may have not ordered my appetizer if I knew. I ordered off their brunch menu and it was great, there are Quite a few options to choose from! I did also bring my 7 month old. There are unisex bathrooms and changing tables in both stalls. The music in the restaurant was at a good level, so when she got fussy it didn't seem to bother others around us and not even people at my table really heard her. I've been to North several times and this past Labor Day some friends and I were looking for a vegetarian friendly place to try during Austin Restaurant Weeks and we liked the menu North was offering. I made an early res since the 5 to 7pm slots were already taken. We sat on the patio even though it was humid because it was not as loud outside. We all very much enjoyed our food choices and our desert. It was probably one of the better meals I've had at North! They wouldn't let us partake of their HH drink specials because we weren't sitting at the bar area, which was a bit of a bummer. But I did like their dry gin martini with a twist. They only had one port option that was a bit lighter than the 10 year ports I've had before but decent. The crispy eggplant parmigiana and my squid ink pasta were delicious! Okay, who knew North Italia had brunch?! I was all set to go for my usual pasta fix, but the brunch menu totally threw me a curveball--in the best way. Of course, I still had to get the white truffle garlic bread because... can you even go to North without it? Time of day doesn't matter--it's a must. We also shared the banana coffee cake, which was such a treat. The crème fraîche on top somehow made it feel light and refreshing, even though it was rich and decadent. Dangerous combo For my entree, I ordered the bistro steak and eggs. I'm a sucker for hashbrowns, and North did a great job with theirs--elevated with Calabrian peppers for a little kick. It was delicious and we ate all of it. The truffle taste comes from the cold ricotta which excellently complemented the warm bread. Next, we tried the pesto pasta which was refreshing and zesty. The chicken Parmesan was also delicious and crunchy. The noise level was pretty loud and depending on where you're sat, you can end up pretty close to another party so this is definitely not an intimate spot. Let me preface this review with the fact that we've given North Italia four tries over the years. The location is great and the menu at a glance looks fantastic. That being said, every visit, the issue that comes up is consistency. This is surprising for a chain restaurant and also one with decently high prices. And I assume their main competitor at the Domain is another Italian spot, Mia Italian Tapas, which provides an outstanding product and experience every time. This time, our pizza, which is on the surface one of the tastiest pizzas I've had in Austin, had way too much crust. It looked like the cooks had rushed to put in a bunch of pizzas at the same time, and we got one of them. The spicy vodka sauce pasta, which I order every time I visit, was so spicy it was inedible. Not at all like the past times I've had it. It also came out lukewarm. The noodles on the bolognese pasta stuck together, creating a massive pasta nest and making it hard to enjoy. Compared to the downtown location, for whatever reason, their pasta portions are literally half the size. Would it be that tough to offer a bit more in the large bowl that they are served in? It did not fill me up, and I'm a pretty small individual. At the downtown location, I would have had a full belly and some even leftover to take home. As many reviewers mentioned, the service is also inconsistent. Always alright, but never great. If you ask for drink refills, extra Parmesan, etc. you will have to ask at least twice and watch your bill to make sure things didn't "accidentally" get added that you were not informed of in advance. I understand... the servers are trying to beef up their bills so they can get larger tips. But I'd recommend focus on providing an outstanding service experience instead so people want to return! I love North Italia's product, I just hope they focus more on improving their execution because I would like to return without feeling disappointed by my experience and my meal. read more

After trying Taverna and Maggiano's, we felt like we had to give North Italia a try as another Italian spot in The Domain. Parking is pretty easy to find with the pink garage nearby and lot parking behind the restaurant. Setting a reservation is quick and seamless as well as the check-in process. We were quickly seated with high hopes and here's what we found... The service was okay. Our waiter had a pretty easy job, we ordered our things immediately and he answered a question or two we had about the menu. We didn't have our water glasses refilled until we were done with our entire meal and ready to pack it up to go, which isn't the biggest deal but the restaurant was pretty empty at dinner time. The food, likewise, was okay. We ordered the white truffle garlic bread, spaghetti and meatballs, and spicy rigatoni vodka. The best part of everything was the white truffle garlic bread. We got it without the white truffle but the ricotta with the bread was delicious and a great way to start the meal. Unfortunately, everything after that was very much bland or not quite there. The spaghetti and meatballs didn't taste like anything you can't make at home with a bit of cooking knowledge and the spicy rigatoni vodka had so many different textures that the entire meal felt uneven. The rigatoni was al dente, the sauce was thin, the meat had different textures with different bites. Just very underwhelming. For what it is, North Italia isn't bad. However, if you're looking for a good Italian dinner you can get better at Taverna or even Maggiano's where the setting and food are better for the same or lower cost. Maybe other dishes are better and we can try another time, we just weren't wowed here, especially after looking at the final bill. read more

It's good! I would recommend the truffle butter bread appetizer and the vodka rigatoni. I didn't like the pizza at all and would rather have Pizza Hut. Everything else I've tried on the menu has been good tho. It seems like a good spot for a night out with the girlies (though I wouldn't know) or even a date. North Italia is my go to at the Domain. It is absolutely delicious with excellent service. The White Truffle Garlic Bread is amazing. I make sure to order it every time I bring friends. It is easily shareable. I usually get the Italian Farm Salad. It is a very generous portion and tastes fresh every time. I have had friends get the Meatball Sliders for lunch. They are also a decent size and can be messy so I recommend eating with a knife and fork. My friends love the garlic knot bread "bun" and said it tastes delicious. No acknowledgment if it, even when I called a day prior to make sure that the Birthday was important, and I am not new at North Italia, some times they just missed the mark, and this time they were way off. From our waitress that was vey disconnected but I still tip a 25%. She had a party of business people of almost 10 so we were just Meah!!!!. I left a note after, but meals were paid in full. Over cooked pasta, mushy, dirty salad leaf, an over all low quality service and food. I have spoken to Alexis and I have cancel mu business meeting, fogueira Gaucha was our next top choice. Came to North Italia around 4:15 on a Saturday- it was the only reservation left haha. And it was busy! We were sat promptly, and we had a great waiter. He was super knowledgeable on the menu and on the wine list. I ordered the cacio e pepe martini and my boyfriend got the Sangria. The sangria was just okay- way too much ice in that glass he drank it like 3 sips. My martini....PERFECTION. It was so good it earned an extra star for this review. Literally. We did the arancini for the appetizer- very cheesy and the creamy pesto was delicious! I wanted to try the garlic bread but my italian grandmother would roll over in her grave if I paid $16 for some bread- that price point is insane. For entrees my boyfriend did The Pig- aka a meatlovers type pizza. He enjoyed it but it's the domain so everything is priced $5 higher than it should be, because its a small personal pizza for $23. I got the cavatelli with shrimp and crab. It was really, really underwhelming esp for $26. The portion was small, the sauce was really greasy (the waiter described it as creamy, no it was just oil and melted butter) and there were maybe 2-3 small shrimp. The crab is not in chunks- its almost like little shreds but it did add flavor. And again, an italian restaurant not giving you ANY kind of bread for the table (yes for free! its bread!) is sacrilegious and I had to borrow some of my boyfriend's pizza crust because I am italian and we soak up our sauce even if it's greasy- plus I was still hungry lol. We did get another round of drinks- an old fashioned (good, standard) and I got a glass of red wine that I really appreciated the waiter recommending it was delicious. $155 for two felt pretty steep for our "full" levels esp because everything was just fine.....but 4 stars for that martini! read more
