This place would be an ideal, casual and cute spot to stop by- the banana cocktail is delicious! However, the experience is ruined by many smokers and vapers- as someone with breathing issues, we often end up leaving to avoid this. Would love to stop again to try our luck with some clean air! read more

A casual neighborhood bar just casually sitting across from Barrett Coffee, there's no reason to not have a productive remote work day with a drink afterwards. Long Play Loung has a few tables inside their dimly lit bar but the main highlight for me was their front patio. Having some drinks in the evening was the perfect way to cool down. On the day we went they actually had free bingo and it was so fun playing a few rounds with all the tables. There are a few cocktails on tap and they sell wine by the bottle so be prepared. There was a QR code for food but we didn't get some as we came from dinner. It's impressive and so badass they're a true vinyl bar and I think we can all agree music just sounds better on vinyl. Can't get enough of this place and recommend y'all adding it to your rotation! read more

My friends and I LOVE Long Play! Happy Hour from 4-7 with great prices and music. We call it "the cat bar" because there are always neighborhood cats running around, which is so cute and they're clearly well taken care of by Long Play which I appreciate. Vibes are always perfect - they even decorate for holidays. Limited indoor seating but they put heaters out when it gets cold. I've yet to try the food truck but bet it's great. Definitely one of my favorite spots!! read more

Been here a handful of times for past 8 years. Came last night and it's still just as good as my first experience. Small dive bar with phenomenal drinks, service, atmosphere, and prices. Drinks: Old fashion on tap: 7.5/10 - seems this batch was stronger than the past. It had me tipsy off of just one. For $8 can't complain Hot toddy: 10/10 - the flavor, the cute cup and presentation, the temperate - all perfection. Hot cider: 9/10 - nearly perfect, it just needed a hair less cinnamon and it would have been a 10 Bad hatter specialty drink: 9/10 - flavors were unique. Very boozy but not taste wise. If you're a whiskey lover, try this! Inside was exceptionally warm on a cold night. Almost too hot, had to step outside to get some air. Our bartender was very polite. I've been here on a date, ended the evening here after a bar crawl, and been to happy hour (4:00 - 7:00p.m. with some girlfriends and each time was a great time; a very local and lowkey spot so come here if you're looking for a calm and cool spot to grab a drink! This is truly a hidden gem bar. For chill and relaxing vibes, it's the spot to go. They play some great music that instantly boosts your mood too. It's all on vinyl! Service is pretty quick since this is a bar, but you can find Paprika in their parking lot serving fresh tacos. Not sure what else they had but everything was sizzling. It's a smaller bar but they do have a patio, and are dog-friendly. EXCELLENT FIND and one of our other favorite stops of our entire trip in Austin! We were just at the gaming bar nearby and it was a weeknight so they closed relatively early and we weren't ready to head back to our hotel yet. So thankful for my trusty Yelp app that helps in situations like this. Did a quick search and while the majority of other restaurants in the immediate area were also closing at the same time, the Long Play Lounge popped up around the corner. Dive bar? Music? Open late? Yes, yes, and yes! This spot was great! Cozy little inside bar but quite a few outside picnic tables which is where we set up shop. The bartenders were great and they had a nice drink list too. One of the very few places you can get your bougie, high end cocktails or cheap beers at the same, neighborhood bar. We popped in on a hot Saturday afternoon after an event and weren't disappointed to find we could wet our whistles with Paper Planes, Bees knees or French 75s! I've found Long Play to be a good reliable hangout spot if I'm looking for a non-brewery casual environment in the neighborhood. They have a wide array of drink options that should keep any group satisfied. There's lots of sizable tables on their patio. Enough so that even though they allow smoking outside I've never had to sit close enough to a smoking table to be bothered by it. The bartenders are all really friendly and happy to make suggestions. If you're there on a less busy night the indoor seating has a nice intimate atmosphere, but can get crowded fast on the weekends if the weather isn't great outside. The Korean food was super unexpected the first time I visited, and while I haven't made it part of my experience most times I've come here, I can't remember myself or any friends having a bad experience with the food. Overall I'd highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a casual bar in the area! read more

Lowkey and intimate spot with reasonable drink specials and chill bartenders. The sangria special was really yummy even if a bit small- probably the best $5 cocktail around. The DJ sets are fun and it's still mostly possible to carry on conversation during them. The concept of a tiny little bar spinning vinyl sounds like it could be overly precious but this was a very relaxed and inviting environment. read more

Fantastic spot for a nice drink and a casual but elevated hang. They have a drink for everyone, cheap beers, a couple craft options, good cocktails and some solid wine selections. My Husband and I were out for a date night. We had decided to stop at another bar off of St John Ave. We stopped in and realize they allowed smoking so we walked right out and came to Long Play. Best decision EVER. This place is so cozy and cute. We love going to dive bars and it had that feeling/vibe. We were stopping in just for a drink before heading to our dinner reservations 10 mins away. We ended up having more than 1 drink and never left to go to dinner lol. We loved the place and vibe so much. The live music, the awesome bartenders, the food. We ended up having amazing tacos from the taco truck at the back of the bar. Highly recommend both Long Play and Johnny's Taqueria out back. What a fun night for us. We will be back soon. read more

Y'all, I think this place is delightful. Extremely chill vibe, great north-central location, and a big, beautiful patio. They have old fashions on tap for $5, which I think sets them apart - as well as assorted Korean food, including dumplings. This place reminds me of eclectic, old Austin, and I absolutely love it. Long Play may be the best neighborhood bar in Austin. The cocktails are outstanding, especially the Pinkerton. They serve Korean food, which is out of sight. I had the fried chicken, which was crispy, juicy and just a little bit spicy. It was served with a radish salad, I think. My friend had the bibimbap, which was also excellent. It's kind of small inside, but the patio is pretty spacious and dog friendly. And the best part is they play full vinyl albums over the outdoor speakers. They've got great taste, and I would definitely be a regular if I lived closer. read more

Rosé Gosé (note accents) is in an unassuming Airport Blvd location (right next to Jewboy Burgers, an Austin favorite). It is run by a couple from Belarus that came here right after Covid to open up a restaurant, with a sister in Minsk. Defying expectations, the menu is not Balkan at all. If anything, there is a strong Asian influence with poke bowls and a lot of seafood. But the menu also offers beef tartare on their raw bar menu, as well as a steak offering and grilled chicken. Later, I was chatting with my boyfriend about how neither Busty's nor Frazier's list drink prices on their menus. The customer sitting next to me jumped into my conversation and said she was just saying the same. I mentioned the Mezquito was $13 for a 1 oz pour. The bartender overheard, looked annoyed, and snapped, "It's actually 1.5 oz." I am unsure why she did not say this earlier when I had first asked. I later tried to smooth things over, suggesting that maybe a newer bartender had just under-poured last week by mistake, adding that 1.5 oz was completely reasonable for the price. Instead of de-escalating, she told me I was cut off because she "didn't appreciate" me talking about the prices to other guests. I am writing this review right after leaving and I think it's clear that I'm not drunk. I have never seen a guest treated so poorly--let alone a regular--simply for discussing menu prices. It's an incredibly poor way to handle a situation. Regulars are the lifeblood of neighborhood bars, but the brunette bartender with the wavy hair just ensured Busty's lost two of theirs.

I will say that, for the price, the Crown has the best pub burger - a good basic burger. I got a jalapeno cheeseburger, but I can attest to the deliciousness of the veggie burger and the mushroom-swiss. Back in the early 90s we used to bring my daughter with us and she would play pinball with my friend, Dirk. The bartenders at the time included a couple of guys who used to work at Duddley's Draw in College Station, TX. In the early oughts, I would come in for lunch and try to decide if I wanted the chicken tacos or a burger. Later I came in with the guy I was dating for too long for beers and a burger. Times change, Austin grows (parts are completely unrecognizable and no longer have that "vibe" that seems uniquely Austin; however, the Crown is a jewel in the rough that continues to shine for those of us who can see it. I had an awkward piece of time on 3/4/26 so I stopped by for a NA Guinness before heading out to see my aunt in Lakeway. I had the pleasure of seeing Derwin! My trip wouldn't have been complete without saying "hi." It took a minute, but he did eventually remember me! Here's to hoping it doesn't take another 8 years; because, we only get older and my friends are starting to show their age! I hope the Crown continues to serve great burgers and cold beers.
