Old Fashion & Aperol Spritz

Nice quiet place for cocktails and conversation Old fashion was great for the price. Bartenders with great service.

Their version of an espresso martini...

Never had a worse espresso martini. Tastes like bitter coffee vodka. Missing a critical element.

We visited Prohibition ATX and loved our experience! Although it took us about 5 minutes to find…read morethe entrance, once we did, we were glad we made the effort. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy/fun. The bartenders were very helpful and the drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the old fashioned!

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. Turnstile has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Austin. Whether you're here for a morning…read morecoffee or an evening beer, the vibe is always relaxed and welcoming. Great spot to check out on your way to the Domain or Q2, with subtle Seattle vibes. The space has a great mix of cozy and lively, making it perfect for catching up with friends or just working remote. Plenty of parking with indoor / outdoor seating options. Special shout-out to Matt behind the bar -- he's the kind of bartender who makes the place feel like home. Friendly, attentive, and always ready with a great recommendation (both on the coffee and beer side). You can tell he genuinely cares about the experience people have here, which makes all the difference. They also have solid breakfast options and delicious burgers. If you haven't been, definitely check it out!

The restaurant itself isn't huge but accomplishes everything it needs to & more! Inside you have a coffee bar and regular bar (love a combo) and they have a great selection of food. Service was great, everyone was friendly and the food came out super quick. I will say straight up best burger I think I've found in Texas! I ordered the Turnstile and the caramelized onions with the bleu cheese and bacon was to die for, the flavors were incredible! I also enjoyed a bear king hef which was one of the best hefs I've had as well. Great place to stop by for a beer and a bite on your way to Q2, or if you need a pick me up before shopping at the domain! Will be back to try the other sandwiches- that jerk chicken was calling my name!

And, at both breakfasts Amy made me feel especially welcome! The table came with a bottle of water for self-service, which I appreciated. The wine list was of good quality. My server at dinner was able to give me a solid recommendation for one to pair with my salmon. She was dead on with how well it complimented the fish. As for the salmon, it wasn't overly seasoned and was incredibly flaky. It was a good size as well. For breakfast, The Breakfast Plate's eggs were cooked perfectly with appropriately cooked bacon. I enjoyed the potatoes that accompanied it as well. The Buttermilk Pancakes meal was a failure though. The pancakes were gooey inside. My server, Amy, offered to have them remade, but I declined the offer. So I accepted a parfait, which was easily one of the best I've had in Austin. The granola with the berries were perfectly balanced, and the granola wasn't super chunky. Amy was 100% invested in my meal satisfaction. The dining room is quite pretty with lovely set tables. Every time I ate, I felt a tad underdressed! But they don't care if you're comfortably casual, and i saw a family with small children looking very relaxed and vacationy and they were welcome.

This restaurant is a unique find in Austin!…read more When I was looking for a new brunch spot to try with my boyfriend, we saw that Uptown was an option online, though we had never heard of it before. That's because we later realized that it was actually the Cambria Hotel's in-building restaurant. We also realized we didn't need reservations, since we and one other family were the only ones dining in for Sunday brunch. The woman who attended to us was very friendly and accommodating. I was able to get a flavorful cappuccino and eggs benedict made vegetarian friendly. The Hollandaise sauce was swapped out for queso, which was a fun twist! All-in-all, a great brunch was had by all. The food was not the best we'd ever had in regards to other brunch places, but knowing that crowds are not a problem here makes this a great back-up spot if the other brunch places in town are backed up!

Foxtail was sexy. Let me try to explain:…read more The vibes were giving warm, dim, intimate without being cramped. The space mixes art deco with a little bit of Spanish flair, tucked beside/adjacent to Mama Betty's. It's big, but arranged in a way that still feels cozy and social. The crowd? Late 20s to early 40s. Grown and attractive. Lively but not chaotic. Vibrant without being loud. Perfect for dressing up a little, socializing and lingering a little. We Ubered there, so I didn't get a full picture of the parking, but it seems like there may be a little parking garage or validated parking area? Maybe a pay for parking? I would read other reviews. Most of the staff? Fantastic. Professional, warm, funny. Our assigned waitress, however, gave off overwhelmed and low-energy. She was short with communication and it sort of dulled our sparkle for a moment, but the drinks and vibes quickly brought it back. Had we had another waitress, this place would have been a 10 out of 10. On to the drinks: Round one: espresso martinis (made with Tito's). Slightly sweet, bold, smooth, and very sippable. No coffee bean decorations on top, but full of flavor. No cream inside...sort of reminding you of a Black Russian. Served in a ribbed coupe glass. Round two: French 75s with Hendrick's. Punchy lemon flavor, a tad sweet, lower champagne notes but still giving French 75. Garnished with a dried lime slice instead of a lemon. Served elegant in those ribbed coupe glasses (which fit the aesthetic perfectly). The cocktails are well-crafted and intentional. They aren't overly boozy, but they are balanced, smooth and polished. Bathrooms? Immaculate. Unisex. Private stall rooms with their own individual doors. Efficient and modern. No long lines. Opportunity to mingle with the opposite sex in the bathroom if that suits your fancy. Foxtail feels like a good place to start a new chapter. We had good conversations and we enjoyed staying out just a little longer than we planned. Their Happy Hour (4:30-6pm weekdays) is officially on my radar for the future. I'll be back. I want this place to be routine. 9 out of 10.

It's a very cute bar that you would expect to see in downtown Austin. The service was extremely fast and by the time we got all of our drinks, our table at Mama's was ready. So it definitely was NOT an hour wait. And it was a Saturday. We ordered some wines and the Parmesan fries which were really good. I would definitely come back here again.
