A good friend and her friend hosted their milestone birthday celebrations here last week and we had so much fun!! What a great location to host an event. The staff were amazing, the drinks were delicious, the band was awesome, and the snacks they provided were yummy...especially the fries! She and her friend had the area reserved from 5 to 7pm ish. The theme was jazz so folks were dressed up in sequins and shiny outfits. They provided snacks and two cocktails per guest by using golden tickets. Loved how there was a performance to making some of the drinks (got a video of one). We were informed ahead of time to make a reservation at 7:30 pm so we could sit in the main area and continue the celebration with more food, drink, and listen to jazz music by a very cool band. This place had all great vibes and great ambiance but sadly the drinks did not hit the mark. The drinks felt really watered down and the candied trail mix felt like one sticky lump rather than the candied nuts you'd find at most cocktail bars. Another thing that struck out to me was that their happy hour menu had drinks mixed with coke! It's like they weren't even trying with their happy hour!! Some of the most atrocious drinks I've ever had. Several of our drinks for our party didnt even have components that were listed on the menu (like luxardo cherries). The service was almost nonexistent. The one server we did interact with was great but let us know she actually worked at the restaurant next door and was just helping out. read more

I discovered Foxtail today while eating at Mama Betty's. They literally share the same restrooms. Foxtail gives off this cool, modern and sophisticated vibe. The dim lighting gives Foxtail romantic persona. So, I decided to come to foxtail for happy hour with one of my girlfriends. We had the Saint Berry and espresso martini. Both were very refreshing. Foxtail opened on Thursday, 11/14/2025. It appears to be a great venue for an intimate conversation, friend meetup or family gathering. I met Joshua the bar manager and he was very warm and friendly. Foxtail is full bar with a limited food menu. We also had some Parmesan fries which were quite tasty. We had two amazing servers - Madelyn and Makaysia. Discovered this beautiful cocktail bar! Stopped in for a post-dinner drink with my girls. This spot is the definition of a hidden gem. The space is dimly lit, making for a romantic and intimate ambiance. We were seated at a table in the back room which was decorated beautifully for Christmas. I ordered the "foxalada" which is an elevated piña colada topped with nutmeg. It was delicious! My friends enjoyed their drinks as well. Cocktails are relatively affordable at $14-$16 price range per drink, vs. other cocktail bars in Austin. Service was really good as well. Honestly love this place! Good drinks, yummy snacks and they have jazz on Thursday. We went on a Friday and there was a jazz band too, so that was awesome. Nice thing is you dont even need a rez on a Friday night and it can be an impromptu visit. Highly recommend!! read more

Foxtail was sexy. Let me try to explain: The vibes were giving warm, dim, intimate without being cramped. The space mixes art deco with a little bit of Spanish flair, tucked beside/adjacent to Mama Betty's. It's big, but arranged in a way that still feels cozy and social. The crowd? Late 20s to early 40s. Grown and attractive. Lively but not chaotic. Vibrant without being loud. Perfect for dressing up a little, socializing and lingering a little. We Ubered there, so I didn't get a full picture of the parking, but it seems like there may be a little parking garage or validated parking area? Maybe a pay for parking? I would read other reviews. Most of the staff? Fantastic. Professional, warm, funny. Our assigned waitress, however, gave off overwhelmed and low-energy. She was short with communication and it sort of dulled our sparkle for a moment, but the drinks and vibes quickly brought it back. Had we had another waitress, this place would have been a 10 out of 10. On to the drinks: Round one: espresso martinis (made with Tito's). Slightly sweet, bold, smooth, and very sippable. No coffee bean decorations on top, but full of flavor. No cream inside...sort of reminding you of a Black Russian. Served in a ribbed coupe glass. Round two: French 75s with Hendrick's. Punchy lemon flavor, a tad sweet, lower champagne notes but still giving French 75. Garnished with a dried lime slice instead of a lemon. Served elegant in those ribbed coupe glasses (which fit the aesthetic perfectly). The cocktails are well-crafted and intentional. They aren't overly boozy, but they are balanced, smooth and polished. Bathrooms? Immaculate. Unisex. Private stall rooms with their own individual doors. Efficient and modern. No long lines. Opportunity to mingle with the opposite sex in the bathroom if that suits your fancy. Foxtail feels like a good place to start a new chapter. We had good conversations and we enjoyed staying out just a little longer than we planned. Their Happy Hour (4:30-6pm weekdays) is officially on my radar for the future. I'll be back. This place is owned by the same owners as Mama Betty's and it's right next door. We only came here because Mama's told us an hour wait. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. It's a very cute bar that you would expect to see in downtown Austin. The service was extremely fast and by the time we got all of our drinks, our table at Mama's was ready. So it definitely was NOT an hour wait. And it was a Saturday. We ordered some wines and the Parmesan fries which were really good. I would definitely come back here again. read more

My friends and I describe Foxtail as a bar that should be in downtown Austin but is conveniently located up north where most of my friends and I live. It's like getting the vibes of a bougie and vibey cocktail bar without having to struggle through finding parking downtown. Their staff is so friendly, and I really liked the cocktails that we got. This is a really nice small cocktail bar. The decor is like a '70's vibe with the mirrors, the lights, the velvet seats with booth seating. The drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was perfect for drinks with an old friend. The bartenders were on top of it. There were no "servers" so we had to order from the bar. *tip to patrons. Visited Foxtail last night, around 6 pm. It was our first time. First, 5 stars for aesthetic. Give the designer a huge raise. The retro art deco inside was warm and beautiful. The amber orange lighting and gorgeous green chairs and soft booths with that stunning bar and interesting projections. But the real standout was that FLOOR! I literally took pictures of the floor. So unique and I want to go back just to look at it. It makes me want to put on a mini skirt and my hair in a beehive. Mad men-esque. We didn't try any food, but we had two rounds of cocktails. Cocktails range from about $14-$17, typical for Austin. I got their ristretto martini, which was smooth and chocolatey and orangey and coffee-y. I enjoyed it. My boyfriend got a drink off the holiday menu "the worlds best cup of coffee". Shout out to the Elf reference. He enjoyed it and ordered it twice. Here's where I struggle with the star rating. My boyfriend ordered the same drink twice. The drinks were two different colors, and were filled to two different levels in the same type of glass. Extremely inconsistent. And our first round was served in the same glass and our fill lines were very different- his drink honestly only looked about half full (see pic). Neither drink was to the rim, but both were served in martini glasses so should have the same liquid volume. In a place that charges $17 for those drinks, who's main star is cocktails, I would expect appropriate pours and consistency. My second drink was also from the holiday menu and it was the "cookies in the VCR" which had a cream liqueur, root beer, and some other ingredients. I don't know, I guess I assumed it would be kinda creamy and have an air of cookie, but it was not good. It tasted like nothing- very watered down root beer maybe? The glassware was gorgeous which I feel like notating and our service was great. But around $80 for four cocktails (with tip) is not nothing and I wasn't completely thrilled. I am landing at 3 stars for now because I need to focus the most on what I ordered, but I am definitely coming back because the space is amazing and the menu very interesting so I do want to give it another shot and try more- maybe during happy hour when things are slightly marked down! I do encourage people to try the place and I will update my review after a second go around to hopefully get it to that 4 or 5 stars! This is a very cool spot with great lighting. Rare these days, as most places have FBI interrogation bright lights that give you a massive headache. With that being said, I was so disappointed in my visit here because of one employee. I was at the bar with a buddy and there is one of the most snarky arrogant bartenders that really should not be dealing with any customers. Just to get his attention to order a drink was almost impossible... over and over. Don't know his name but his description was a young, shorter, white male. He was wearing a t-shirt trying that was intended to show off his arms, I guess. He had such an arrogant attitude that we all noticed that he stood out as the worst employee there. Snarky and asked like he was doing us a favor to take our order. There was another guest at the bar that told us, "He was really rude to me as well". Why in the world would management have someone this bad tending bar. Not sure if I will return based on this experience. FYI. Love this brand new cocktail bar!!! It's very swanky inside, but still casual and laid back. Service was very attentive and kind. They have two mocktails on the menu (appreciated as I am currently pregnant) - the Humo Fashion was quite tasty! My husband tried two cocktails in the Modern Intrigue section and enjoyed both. The bathroom sharing situation with Mama Betty's next door isn't ideal as there are just 4 co-ed stalls and we noticed quite a line, but it wasn't too bad. We had a party of 10, which I completely understand is a large party, but the rest of the night our server was very passive aggressive. I don't mind if at the beginning to have been turn down service because of our party size, but instead our group was berated and belittled. Our waitress not only made off handed comments to our faces, she talked to other patrons, and have a poor attitude when I tried to order a drink. One of our group members over heard her talking and throwing her hands up before walking up to us to serve. I've seen multiple reviews of poor review of service, and I believe it the one waitress. The worst part, our waitress had a great attitude to other patrons. Overall, unless you look "cool" they will treat you poorly. read more
