$10 martinis and $2 west coast oysters! what else do i need to to say?! But honestly this place was awesome all around! Super cool vibes and the food was all reasonably priced for a downtown restaurant. Portions were a little small but it seemed to be more tapas style with delish and unique flavors. Highly recommend for date night or girl dinner

Amazing ambiance, wonderful service and really flavorful cocktails.

The ambiance was absolutely amazing! Our server Jillian was very hospitable and drinks were perfectly balanced. It didn't take long for the bar to get our cocktails even when it got busier. Definitely will be back next time I visit Austin!

Visited for the first time for happy hour and had a great experience! I ubered, but I do believe they have valet parking. My friend got there first and picked the table. A little corner seat for the 2 of us was perfect, until they seated a group of 10 people squeezed in next to us. They did not fit at the table and the volume was so loud we suddenly had to start yelling. It was awkward especially considering they said they made a reservation. Anyways, it took about 15 minutes for a server to come over to us. We wanted to make sure to put our order in before happy hour ended, and thankfully we could flag her down. Our waitress was so sweet! I had a gin and guava cocktail and my friend had a spicy tequila cocktail. We also ordered the dips - labneh, whipped feta, and hummus. It came with a ton of pita, but I also ordered the veggies like it would have come with on the platter. We wanted to order the platter, but were told it was cheaper at happy hour to order each dip individually. I'm not sure if that ended up being true. Either way, no complaints. Happy hour prices are great and our server was very friendly. We also had oysters and wine after happy hour ended. Definitely will go back. The space is like a basement speakeasy. Would be especially cool for late night!

My taste buds had the time of their life here. What went well: the vibes were set with the atmosphere and the menu was so good it was hard not to order everything. I originally gave this 5 stars but I quickly remembered we didn't have a friendly experience with the hostess which is why I'm giving Devil May Care 4 stars. I would 100% come back and eat here -- this was the best meal experience we had in Austin!

HAPPY HOUR DEAL IS HERE!!! What an amazing happy hour!! We got a bunch of bites to share and it was only $19 per person. Their truffle burgers are $12 and it is delicious! The dips, brussel sprouts, spicy rigatoni are delicated made and very flavorful. This is added to my list of good happy hour food spots to go to!

I went for a happy hour and the food was delicious!! Drinks could use some improvement. The ambiance was unique and cool but the route to get inside was... sketchy. Service was friendly.

Devil May Care is a not-so-hidden speakeasy right on 6th street. We stopped by on a Saturday night after getting a last minute reservation. The inside is nicely decorated, but slightly brighter than you would expect from a bar and the music was too loud at times. We were there for just a light snack and some drinks. For drinks, we got the Ausmopolitan and the Beelzepunsch. For food, the two of us split the Cold Mezze Trio. Both the drinks were good, but they didn't stand out compared to other cocktail bars I've tried in the area. The Mezze Trio was great and came with a good amount of variety. I particularly enjoyed the whipped feta with the pita. Overall, it was a good spot for a date night.

Came in on a random sunday for a snack and a drink w some friends. It was by reservation only however they had a rooftop terrace table open for a party of 3. Seating on the terrace was our door furniture which was very low to the ground, uncomfortable to sit on to try and eat, waitresses were also struggling to set things down on the tables since they were extremely low. Cute place to grab a drink and food if you sat inside... highly recommend reservations although a few years ago you could walk in and find a spot no problem so I was unaware it's now mainly reservations. Brussel sprouts were delicious, nice and crispy and full of sweet and spicy flavor. Espresso martini was not espresso flavored at at- taste just like a chai milk tea. The spitz was okay, as expected I suppose. Staff was kind and music selection was on point.

We dropped in for a few cocktails and really enjoyed this place. It had a cool, laid back vibe. It's casual seating and great for a date night. The food looked great. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. I recommend.

I don't usually go to cocktail lounges, so this was a rare occasion for me. I wanted to attend the MLS all-star game after party that was being hosted here. I naively assumed current MLB players would make a possible appearance (as was promoted by When Where What Austin in their event spreadsheet), come to find there was instead a sizable group of FORMER MLB players! All jokes aside, the atmosphere and drinks available here are top notch. They are $18 each so not cheap, but not an arm and a leg. I tried two off their menu- the Strawberry Kiwi Soda and DMC Old Fashioned. The soda was one of the best cocktails I've ever had, and the Old Fashioned was smooth as well. I'm still not a fan of them (since they are strong), so probably won't ever order one ever again. I assumed the extra ingredients/mixers would make an impact, but it wasn't noticeable. Great music (featuring a familiar face in DJEU from my past home Atlanta), tight-knit dance floor, and small group booth seating all around!

This place should be 6 stars. I had the oysters and burgers on happy hour, as well as the lamb meatballs off the standard menu. I also had the stirred daisy cocktail and a glass of wine. Happy hour cocktails are half off, oysters are $2 each, and a burger with potatoes is $12. I'm not sure you can find a better deal with better food in Austin. Burger was worth $25+, lamb meatballs were perfect, cocktail for $9 was incredible. Place was very nice inside and also quite busy for a Thursday early evening. Service from bartender was great. I'll be back.

A fabulous speakeasy with craft drinks, a dark sexy interior, and delicious looking food. Their happy hour is such a great deal (half off specialty cocktails and food). I don't like cocktails much but the mezcal one I got was really nice - it had a foamy top too - how did they do that! I need to try the food next time for sure. Staff are fabulous too! They are all dressed in ravishing black outfits.

My wife and I enjoyed our time at Devil May Care. We went to see live jazz there. It's amazing to listen to soothing music while also enjoying the ambience, good and drinks. The cocktails are fantastic. I recommend the Stirred Daisy if you like a drink with a kick in it as it has a bell pepper in it. For food, the Tzatziki and Lamb Tajine were great. I loved the spicy salsa for the Lamb Tajine. Great ambience inside and service as well.

How strict is the dress code? Are nicer shorts with a nicer top allowed in?

Would the restaurant be able to accommodate a party of 15?

They would but it would be slightly cramped depending upon which area they seat you. It is really designed for no more than parties of 4 at a table but I'm sure they would accommodate. It's meant to be intimate and close quarters so if you don't…

Once we walked through Manny's, we were greeted right away and since we had a reservation, we were seated promptly. Quick heads up: cell phones aren't allowed inside -- they take your phone and give you a key to a locker where it's stored for the night. The idea is to keep everyone present and engaged with each other instead of their screens (they do make exceptions for emergencies or on-call situations, at the business's discretion). I actually love the reasoning behind it, even though I wished I had my phone to snap pictures of the inside! The space itself is dark and moody with major art deco Miami vibes, like something out of the 80s-90s. Think pink velvet draped everywhere, a life-size taxidermy leopard in the middle of the bar, and flamingo sculptures scattered throughout. It's gorgeous. There's plenty of seating between the booths/couches and the bar, and they seat you according to your party size. We got a plush half-circle booth with a table that fit all of us perfectly -- great sightlines too, so everyone could see and talk to each other easily. Each table gets an assigned server, and ours was fantastic. We ordered cocktails along with the yuca fries, empanadas, and quesadillas -- all delicious. She had the most miserable scowl on her face. My girlfriend and I were dressed very nicely (pants & jacket, and a dress), so I know this was not a outfit issue. I do not know what her issue was, but if you are tired and don't like staying up late, don't work in a bar. After saying that there was only standing room, I decided that I was not going to spend money in an establishment that speaks to people in such a disgusting way, so I proceeded to leave. One of the guys out front asked what was wrong and asked if he could buy us a drink, but at that point I decided that I would not spend a dime at this place. Just giving a heads up! Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

My sister-in-law made reservations and we walked down the busy 6th Street to get there until we stopped at an unassuming and unlabeled door. When you walk in, it's a very dark and moody interior with small tables. They led us to a private room in the back which perfectly fit the six of us. Their menu is very creative, with unique names and unique ingredients. I don't like alcohol, so I was super happy to see an entire section dedicated to zero proof mocktails. I ordered the 5 AM somewhere which was a matcha based mocktail. It still had a bitter taste to it, perhaps from the Lyres Rosso. But the entire experience was so creative, led by our server/bartender Martin. He was a lot of fun and made the experience that much better. He was personable and funny and felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. Highly recommend if you're looking for a more chill vibe on 6th Street!

What a nice cool little spot! I've been to Austin many times…read moreand to fifth street, this was my first time coming to this bar. I had to a make a reservation beforehand because that's the only place they'll let you in, and i understand why, its a very intimate bar and the whole vibe would not be the same if the place was packed, so i appreciate the atmosphere. We tried a couple of recommendations the staff gave us, they had 2 of our drinks prepared right in front of our table explaining the type of liquor they were using, their menu is really interesting with different flavor and mixes, and like the one i tried with banana and other herbs that just make sense. We had a really good night enjoying there i like that the place is dimlight and so different from the vibe right outside on 5th street!
