Always down for a new space and this one was unique. No reservation just walked in and was able to grab a seat at the bar. They got much busier as the night went on and around 11pm they pulled the bar stools to make it standing room only. The flavor was quite mild yet tasty. I had two while there and here's where the service kinda got lost. With the line at the bar, we weren't checked on and had to flag down for another round. The interior is dark and cozy with lots of seating area and they have an upstairs terrace if you want fresh air, I didn't go up so can't comment on the space. The ladies room was clean and a tad hard to tell if the stall was occupied or vacant. Only one sink and there were two mirrors, one over the sink then long mirrors right by the sink. We chose Devil May Care to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. When I made our reservation a month in advance, I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary and asked for the best seating available. Despite arriving on a packed Thursday evening, we only waited about five minutes before being seated. The service was exceptional from the start, with our first round of drinks personally delivered by the lovely boss lady. We started with the Tomatini and the Solstice. I expected the Tomatini to be similar to a Bloody Mary, but it was surprisingly light, slightly sweet, and the basil gave it more of a fresh caprese-inspired flavor. It was unique and delicious. The staff noticed our initial table wasn't ideal for an anniversary celebration and graciously moved us to a much more intimate booth. While we waited for our food, they surprised us with complimentary bacon-wrapped dates and two glasses of bubbly to celebrate. Those thoughtful touches made us feel genuinely special. Thursday specials were another fun surprise. The $10 martinis were fantastic, and I loved the "Girl Dinner" special--a Caesar salad and fries. Cute, simple, and delicious. My $10 Cosmopolitan was excellent. For dinner, we shared the prawns, chili chicken, and lamb lollipops. My husband was especially impressed by the perfectly cooked lamb, but honestly every dish was outstanding. Visited for the first time for happy hour and had a great experience! I ubered, but I do believe they have valet parking. My friend got there first and picked the table. A little corner seat for the 2 of us was perfect, until they seated a group of 10 people squeezed in next to us. They did not fit at the table and the volume was so loud we suddenly had to start yelling. It was awkward especially considering they said they made a reservation. Anyways, it took about 15 minutes for a server to come over to us. We wanted to make sure to put our order in before happy hour ended, and thankfully we could flag her down. Our waitress was so sweet! I had a gin and guava cocktail and my friend had a spicy tequila cocktail. We also ordered the dips - labneh, whipped feta, and hummus. It came with a ton of pita, but I also ordered the veggies like it would have come with on the platter. The inside is nicely decorated, but slightly brighter than you would expect from a bar and the music was too loud at times. We were there for just a light snack and some drinks. For drinks, we got the Ausmopolitan and the Beelzepunsch. For food, the two of us split the Cold Mezze Trio. Both the drinks were good, but they didn't stand out compared to other cocktail bars I've tried in the area. The Mezze Trio was great and came with a good amount of variety. Cute place to grab a drink and food if you sat inside... highly recommend reservations although a few years ago you could walk in and find a spot no problem so I was unaware it's now mainly reservations. I naively assumed current MLB players would make a possible appearance (as was promoted by When Where What Austin in their event spreadsheet), come to find there was instead a sizable group of FORMER MLB players! All jokes aside, the atmosphere and drinks available here are top notch. They are $18 each so not cheap, but not an arm and a leg. I tried two off their menu- the Strawberry Kiwi Soda and DMC Old Fashioned. The soda was one of the best cocktails I've ever had, and the Old Fashioned was smooth as well. I'm still not a fan of them (since they are strong), so probably won't ever order one ever again. I assumed the extra ingredients/mixers would make an impact, but it wasn't noticeable. But one of my top favorite bites was the "Cold Mezze Trio" from Devil May Care... and paired with the MOST PERFECT PITA. How on Earth do y'all make it? It's so fluffy and dressed in-I believe to be- herbed olive oil. The Mezze Trio ($25) features a small serving of herb labneh, hummus, pistachio whipped feta (perhaps better than ABA), crudités, lavash, and that yummy pita. If you want a speakeasy vibe with a slightly older crowd, live music if you're lucky (pianoman singing covers or cumbia band for example), and savory Mediterranean bites, do DMC. I understand the "odd number" rule, but it was kind of hard to share the third lollipop between two, when the lollipops are small to begin with.
