Very hip place with great vibes. The drinks were beautiful and creative and we had a delicious hummus platter that was very generous and well split among 4 people. We also had the lamb lollipops and they were perfectly cooked and delicious. The tables are pretty tiny in the lounge area though so it's tough to eat and pretty cramped. Also the music was sooooo loud, I'd avoid Thursdays if you want to be able to talk. We thought there were two different sides and the lounge without the DJ would be quieter but it's still really bumpin. This place quickly became one of my favorite spots in Austin! Three words: Espresso Martini Thursdays! They're half off and the DJ plays R&B. What better way to spend thirsty Thursday/Friday eve? I also really appreciate the lounge vibe here. Their service is pretty great, also! I coordinated a get-together for a party of 8-10 during my last weeks in Austin and we were seated in a nice little corner where we had a good intimate setting but were also part of the party happening around the club. It was a great, memorable experience and definitely would recommend this to those visiting town as well! They do serve some snacks but don't expect a full meal. They have valet parking available; otherwise, it's street parking. I also advise you to dress up a bit when you come here. I got some stares from the people at the host station during my first visit; I felt very judged by my casual outfit and did not like that feeling. We've been to this location when it's been a few other restaurants and none of them were solid enough to stick around. This might have a chance because it's not really going for a traditional "restaurant" vibe but more of a cocktail joint that serves food til 10 and turns into a club at that point. Our waitress was really attentive and she mentioned she's new, so if you find your waitress has to double check on a few details...be patient! We ordered our paper planes off menu (the cocktail choices looked a little on the sweet side) and they were stellar. We then ordered the Mezza Platter, meatballs, and shrimp cocktail and the platter and meatballs were honestly fantastic and having lived overseas with real Mediterranean food, my husband is kinda picky on his hummus! We did also order a round of the margaritas on draft and as long as you're prepared for tamarind and mezcal, which we love, it's a really solid draft cocktail. This is a phenomenal place so celebrate a special milestone! I went here on a date night and it was intimate and chic. My partner injured himself playing sports and they were more than accommodating so we were able to keep our date night. They have featured styles of music on different days of the week. Thursdays is R&B night, I believe. They also have a DJ & live music on occasions. The food is all exquisite. The Whipped Feta was a good starter. We had the Tomahawk Ribeye and it was incredible! It came with various sides so it was plenty to share for two people. The meat was perfectly buttery and it melted in your mouth. We stopped in for a quick cocktail after our dinner reservation at Sammie's Italian across the street, so while we didn't get the full experience, it was enough to form an impression -- and unfortunately, it wasn't a great one. Austin has an impressive cocktail scene, with spots like Small Victory, Half Step, Here Nor There, Watertrade, and Drink.Well leading the charge. These places showcase bartenders who not only masterfully execute the classics but also push the boundaries in truly creative ways. Sadly, that level of skill and innovation seems to be missing at Devil May Care. As this was an impromptu visit, we didn't have reservations. Though the venue was quite empty, the host put on a front as though he was doing us a significant favor by seating us. I was excited to see the "Naked Infamous" on the menu, a clear nod to one of my all-time favorites--the "Naked and Famous," crafted by Joaquín Simó at world-renowned Death & Co. in NYC in 2011. However, it's unclear what sets their version apart, other than the fact that it simply didn't live up to the standards of the original. The ambiance itself was nice, but the experience was marred by loud music, inattentive and inexperienced service, and cocktails that were simply mediocre. This might be a sufficient spot for someone without much experience, but for those who appreciate finely-crafted drinks, Austin offers much better alternatives. read more

Service was great despite being very busy. Most of the dishes at Devil May Care were small plates, so it is best to get several options and share. For our appetizer we had the wagyu tartare- delicious. For our mains we had shrimp, lamb, steak, and chicken. All has their own nuanced flavor- which I appreciated. Although they are a Mediterranean restaurant, each dish was different and flavorful in a way different than the other. Alright Austin, you're doing well to sell me. I used to complain that cocktails in Austin are terrible - and I can't believe they can pass it off at NYC prices! Obsessed! We had been here a few times when it was Sandra Bullocks restaurant and I always thought it would make an amazing speakeasy type bar so I was stoked to see this was the location. I made reservations on opentable and didn't know much of what to expect. Our reservation was for 5:30 on a Saturday and we were the only people there. We took advantage of the happy hour oysters and they were surprisingly large, we were shocked. They don't come with the cocktail sauce and crackers so we knew they were going to be good but they were great! Deviled eggs were so yummy we ordered them twice, never tasted deviled eggs like this before, blew our minds. Now for our favorite, THE BURGER! Mind blowing! Pretty sure I read that it was brisket and porky belly made into a burger, well whatever it was incredible. Service was wonderful as well, they told us all the ingredients in the food they brought out and made sure our drinks were full including our water glasses which was nice. It was our anniversary and they brought out two glasses of champagne for us which was so sweet, it's the little things. They serve creatively mixed cocktails which I would not quite qualify as true craft cocktails - they all taste a little cloyingly sweet or like sour mix - just not a high caliber of mixology. So I just went to this spot for the first time Thursday 6/27/24. The vibe was amazing it was beautifully decorated mediterranean theme. I enjoyed the atmosphere and waitresses that served us. The music was ok I think they could have done better. Now the food and drinks.......HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. For the amount of money they charge for food and drinks you thought you were getting Michelin star food but it was giving drive-through at Burger King. Everything was okay until the couple seated right directly in front of us started having a heavy makeout session in the middle of the restaurant. It was tasteless and made my guest very uncomfortable and me incredibly embarrassed.
