This was my third time visiting Retail Therapy, and it honestly just keeps getting better. The boutique-inspired decor is absolutely stunning, complete with chic fashion touches like Tom Ford shoes on display. We went later in the night when the deejay was spinning, so the lounge was totally packed and full of energy. Despite the busy crowd, the overall vibe was perfect thanks to the welcoming staff and the incredible mixologists behind the bar. The drinks are always amazing, and on this last visit, I shared the Dancing Queen cocktail with my boyfriend. Spot on! Can't say enough good things about this place. A+! read more

Went here for date night. It's dimly lit and good romantic vibe in here. They had a live dj. Drinks were very good but service was slow. Waiting 10-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive and took a while for the server to close us out. I recommend trying the New York Sour. read more

What a jazzy little spot!! Thursday's are R&B NIGHTS! If you love good jams and a fun vibe this is the place to be! I can't believe this was my first time at Retail Therapy! The drinks were pretty good! I started out with a mint lychee martini which came in this cute coup! For bites we ordered the steak bites and beef sliders. The sliders were great but the steak was sadly too chewy and overcooked. Our server was darling and brought out complimentary shots to all the ladies. It's best to have a reservation for a table or come early to get a seated reservation unless you come after midnight for dancing. I can't remember my drink, but I remember the vibes. This spot was laid back . I highly recommend getting a section. I was sitting at the bar for a while and then they took the bar seats away randomly. I don't understand why they took the bar seats. My drink was good. The DJ was a good time. The bathroom was horrible from what I heard. It definitely did smell near the "VIP" like rooms . Next time, hopefully the bathrooms are cleaner. Overall I had a decent experience. This has to be my top three favorite speakeasy's or lounges in Austin. I absolutely love the music they have especially on ladies night. It's a small dark restaurant so I would say it's great for medium to small groups. I came here for a birthday and had reservations for eight but the seating was only for four so seating is very limited here so be prepared to stand most of the time but the music here will definitely get you dancing with rnb and hip hop. One block from the parking garage...yes I am light weight! At this juncture, all I can picture is my bed and little cotton candy like clouds in my dreams. Then my friend announced Retail Therapy, I always wanted to go to this bar. Yikes, say it isn't so. Suck it up girl! You can do one more bar before home. So, in we went. At the entry they had designer branded items like Prada and Fendi. We were greeted by the hostess who escorted us into the club. Inside the club they had glittery posters of Rihanna and other notable singers. The seats were extremely comfortable. The music was permeating the club, but not overpowering conversation. We recently checked out Retail Therapy in Austin, and while we didn't try their food, we absolutely loved the drinks. We went during their happy hour, and it was excellent. The cocktails were really well made, & you could tell the bartender knew what they were doing. It's not overly sweet or sugary.. just really good quality cocktails. When we arrived, happy hour was a bit quieter, but after about an hour, it definitely got busier with a later night crowd. Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by especially for happy hour. Retail Therapy was a mixed bag but generally in a more positive direction. Aesthetically the lounge is very nice with comfy seats, ambient lighting, nice bathrooms, and complimentary champagne for ladies. We made a reservation and were seated promptly and ordered quick. We ordered some cocktails and here's where things began to sour a bit: The cocktails were average but $18 a cocktail is very steep. I get the lounge is nice but at that price I was expecting a lot more. People were straight up twerking in the middle of the lounge, which is crazier when you realize there's no dance floor. Service was spotty, it took a while for us to get checked on and for us to receive the bill. And last but not least, there is gratuity automatically included. To sum it up quite bluntly, Retail Therapy is a beautiful place. The lounge itself is very nice and the vibe and ambiance is spot on (and it's not loud in there!). Love the whole vibe of this place! It is indeed therapy :) the cocktails were great with y walk in, you get a feeling of oomph! It's a great lounge/bougie date nightspot. So why did I downgrade the review? Two reasons for taking away two stars- 1. They added 20% service charge without talking to us for two people, while e were still in the bar and it's not like we weren't ordering or had left or it was 2am and they closed - Nope! No reason for them to add 20% as default service charge 2. The ambiance is great but they have a view of the road with people peeking in, bright street lights etc which are really a downer. Had such a fabulous time at retail therapy! I came on a Thursday for happy hour and they have all signature cocktails for $10. I was not able to make a reservation (turns out if you make one on Open Tabke someone else within the hour, it will not allow you to make another reservation!). But nevertheless, they had plenty of tables and when I came they were able to offer me a table or the bar. I sat in a nice corner table and I ordered the cocktail version of the "flower power" shot (because I like girly drinks!), as well as the "lovely dove" cocktail. Both were a pretty good size and fairly strong so I felt like the cost was justified! The hostess and the waiter were both very friendly and helpful, attentive as well. The bathrooms are immaculate, and the vibe was really nice! The music was a little louder than other cocktail bars but it was still modern music, and there is a low light/candlelight vibe which I really dig. The parking is lacking; I parked at a friend's house several blocks over; but if you want street parking it's paid only and you probably have to park a decent ways away. Nevertheless - the staff and vibes here are great, drinks are great, and happy hour prices are fair! I would absolutely come back to try other drinks - and plan to do so! read more

Walking in you get a complimentary citrus drink and then get guided into the bar. The cocktails weren't anything special. We ordered a dessert which was crazy expensive $15 for a cheesecake slice. I LOVED the atmosphere right away! It almost felt like a speakeasy. From the glittery heels on the shelves to the artwork and the mirrored door, which opened into the lounge/bar area. It felt very exclusive and fancy. The menu reminded me of a vogue magazine. The first drink I ordered (forget the name but it had boba) unfortunately wasn't great. The boba was hard and mostly why I ordered the drink, but fortunately the bartender offered to make me something else (their mai tai), which I did enjoy and appreciate! My friend had their spicy margarita which was really good and probably what I will order in the future. They also brought us a complimentary sample of food (they had just officially opened the day prior and are going to start serving food next week). It consisted of a sample of sushi, pan-fried dumpling, and fried chicken. I wish I had taken a picture of it but it was great. The chicken was probably my favorite. read more

The space itself is beautiful, and the Director was gracious and apologetic--but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation, but once seated, we were completely ignored. At first, we assumed it was a simple mix-up with table assignments. However, we watched the table next to us get seated after us and immediately receive water and attentive service. Eventually, someone came to take our order, and the Director personally came over to apologize for the initial oversight. While we appreciated the gesture, the service didn't improve. Our server continued to treat us like an afterthough. At one point she came over to refill my friend's water and gave just a splash and walked off. No eye contact, didn't fill it up. And the place wasn't busy. She didn't even have that many tables. I at one point went to the bar to get our second rounds at the bar and the guys were a delight. I wanted to give them our tip. But as we cashed our waitress rudely came by said gratuity is already included and left. Everyone has bad days but I don't think I've had this type of experience ever. Am I the first to review? Woohoo! So I wandered upon this place after dinner at Perry's with my date. We were trying to figure out where to go and I picked this place out from google maps. When we got to the door, we were told that this place had only been opened for a week and since it was still new and no marketing has been done, we were seated right away. It's very similar to here not there that it's mostly reservation based and they provide you with a small drink upon entry. The drink menu are made to look like magazines and the cocktails are quite expensive. All cocktails are $25. While I enjoy the atmosphere of the place for my date, the drinks are very similar to other speakeasies around town. It's definitely a great place for a date if you're looking to impress someone. read more
