The mixed shots and cocktails were great, the presentation of food and drink was so creative (I've never seen spam musubi served on a platter emerging from a cloud of mist), and such fun servers. We had a large group and enjoyed sharing the huge shareable cocktails and banzai boat.

Finally got around to trying Tiki Tatsu-Ya. We snagged reservations for my husband's birthday and it was a great time. We LOVE tiki drinks and we were excited to try their take on some popular drinks. I am a ride or die Painkiller drinker. This was the best one I've had ever. I loved every drink we had. The bar is 100% immersive. The bar was super fun to go on a date night. Our server was super attentive and friendly. Will come back time and time again.

This is our 5th time at Tiki Tatsu-Ya South Lamar- good South Austin location and delicious food! The OG with pork broth is amazing!!

How fun! What a special hidden little gem of a place. Go for the drinks but stay for the food. The front facing is the order at the counter ramen restaurant, head around back for Tiki. They do book out in advance so make sure to grab a resi. Inside feels like a speakeasy, it's dark, one hostess at the front with closed swinging doors down at the bottom of the steps. Feels like a super secret Tiki dungeon and I love it! Our server was incredible, she made us feel very welcome even as we used our flashlights with our 40 year old eyes to see what we would be feasting. She helped us select a group drink and provided a great "show" to go along with it. For food it's more of a tapas type place, not really meals. Our favorites were the crab lagoon, octopus skewers, salmon poke, and the shrimp on top of the spicy shrimp sort of nigiri. If you are trying to impress someone from out of town or a fun date spot this is the place. The food was good but I wasn't raving about it, this place is more just for the experience. We dropped about $450 with food and drinks but for a special night it was worth it.

Came here on a Thursday night with a large group (11 of us) and had a fun time! This was my second visit. I previously visited about 2 years ago for an anniversary, but I have to say it's much better and more fun with a group, so you can split the shareable drinks, which are accompanied with a light show and a fun delivery of the drink to your table. I split the Skeleton Cruise with a few others from the group, then split the Jungle Crane, and Pearl Diver with a friend. All of the drinks were yummy, and I enjoyed our waiter's delivery of the Skeleton Cruise to our table. For food, I split the Crab Lagoon, taro tots, and one of the rice bowls with friends. Everything was tasty! It did take a while for everything to come out, with our large group, which is understandable. They brought a couple things out at a time over the course of the hour. So it's good to get your orders in early! This is definitely more geared towards a happy hour and munchies kind of vibe, but you can definitely get enough food for a whole meal (like we did), but it won't be cheap. It's a fun place for a group to go, and the theming is spot on! A note that they will only split the check 3 ways, and will not itemize. We had a member of our party put it on their card and then payed them back based on the itemized receipt. Gratuity was already added to our check, but make sure to check on your bill.

We waited about 40 minutes when they told us about 20. Then once we got our text, they told us that they only had seats for three people for our party of four so one person would have to stand. That was SUCH a red flag but whatever I'm happy to get out of the Texas heat. We were sat at the bar with a really nice bartender. She explained the menu to us where the left side is more sweet drinks and the right is more stronger drinks. Another guy saw our party member standing and was so kind to give us his seat and move somewhere else (xoxox to that sweet man). We got the zombie and the blowfish tails. The zombie was strong but too spiced forward for my particular liking. Blowfish tails were solid, very similar to shrimp tempera. The interior is beautiful and the bar has hooks for your bags DEEP under the bar itself. Don't know if I would personally come back but it was fun. The bartender jumped into our conversations a good amount which was surprising but I enjoyed chatting with her and my friends.

Wow. This stop was the highlight of my first trip to Austin. Made a reservation right when they opened so I can get some great photos. Staff was so nice. Loved the decor. Bartenders very attentive. Drinks were on point. Fun merchandise. Hope to be back some day! Front of the building looks like a travel agency but you go in in the back. So much fun.

Taro Tots, Cobra Kai, and Strip 'N Go Naked

Rating: 3.1/5 [dine in] This spot is hard to find if it's your first time--it's tucked behind Ramen Tatsuya. I'd recommend parking in front and walking around back. The ambiance is super moody with red lighting, so it's not ideal for taking pictures. The food and drinks were just okay. You're mostly paying for the vibes and unique glassware/decor. The menu is definitely a highlight--it looks like a treasure map, which adds to the experience and makes ordering feel fun and adventurous. Personally, I think the drinks at Zanzibar taste better. Overall, it felt overpriced. For a $72 meal, I left feeling pretty unsatisfied--even though the service and atmosphere were solid. Before we left, they offered to mail postcards for you which is a cool and memorable touch (though ours didn't arrive until months later). What we ordered: Strip 'N Go Naked ($15): Gin, lemongrass shochu, passionfruit, tangerine, and cider. Cobra Kai ($16): Overproof rums, Armagnac, clairin, baijiu, passionfruit, fassionola, citrus, and spices. Served in a cool snake cup. Slingin' Shrimp Musubi ($12): Tempura shrimp, Singapore chili sauce, nori. Mushroom Musubi ($11): Grilled trumpet mushroom, mango kimchi, tare, nori. Spam Musubi ($10): Housemade spam, pineapple teriyaki jam, chicharron furikake, nori. Taro Tots ($8): Fermented coconut ranch, nori, shichimi togarashi. All of the musubis were mid. The flavor combinations sounded unique but didn't really elevate the dish and still felt basic. The taro tots were super crispy, which I liked, but the flavor wasn't for me. It's definitely an acquired taste. I didn't enjoy it at first, but it slowly grew on me. However, I wouldn't order it again.

This was one of the most fun restaurants I've ever been to!! We just came for drinks and appetizers, but definitely want to come back for more. The bartenders are so nice and very knowledgeable. When you order certain group drinks, the whole restaurant gets a show of lightning, ship sounds, or whatever theme drink you got. This place is pricey, but so worth the experience!

Shot dark but spam musubi, and shrimp musubi

Fun drinks, good vibes, and small Japanese-style tapas--that's the best way to describe Tiki Tatsu-Ya. We first went when it was nearly impossible to get a reservation, and while the hype has cooled down a bit, the experience is still fantastic. The drinks are creative and perfectly executed, the atmosphere is immersive, and the staff keeps the energy just right. It's one of my favorite spots to bring friends from out of town--it captures that "Keep Austin Weird" spirit in the best way possible. If you go, definitely try one of the shared tiki punch bowls--it's an experience all on its own.

This place definitely has the wow factor! From entering to leaving we had such a great time! They know what they are doing to keep you engaged and entranced while being there! We got so much food and drinks which was quite costly but really worth the visit! I will say they should have valet parking because we had to stalk someone and take their spot after looking for a good ten minutes! We probably should not have came here while ACL was going on since parking was very hard to find! We were sat when our entire party was at the host stand. The host was very nice and answered all of our questions. She even asked if we had any allergies or had restrictions so she could inform our server. We were greeted by our server in no time and he gave us suggestions on what was good there drink wise. We took some of his suggestions but I strayed and got another beverage which turned out to be delicious! We started with the crab lagoon and it was delicious! I will get that next time we come for sure! We got spam musubi and the yellow poke plate. The ambiance was great and anytime people got a fancy sharable drink it was a production with music and lights! It is definitely a IG bar if you want some killer pictures or videos! They brought us the wrong order twice and they corrected it immediately. They even let us keep the mistakes. I highly recommend this place but I do think you should make a reservation and make sure the whole party is present!

Melissa S.

Yes yes and yes to this place. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and the staff is amazingly friendly. The Zombie is always my drink of choice. They have a food menu as well, but since I don't eat meat, there was really nothing on the menu for me. Highly recommend this spot!

Daniel T.

What's up ATX fam...you guys have some seriously awesome places and Tiki is one of them!! This place is directly behind Ramen Tatsu-Ya and this place rocks!! I mean if you want killer drinks in really cool cups/mugs and watch a cool Tiki show when you order certain drinks, you got to check them out!! They also serve food here. There is so many things to see and it starts from walking downstairs!! Come check them out! ChowChow Time!

Ask the Community - Tiki Tatsu-Ya

Are the bar seats included in the reservations or are they open for walk-ins?

The answer is yes to both- if a single person wants to reserve, they will be sat at the bar, not a table. But if there are walk-ins and the only spots available are at the bar, that's where you will be seated.

Any updates to gluten free options? The last answer doesn't correlate with the current menu

I know I saw 1 gluten free item but honestly can't remember what it was....maybe you could call them and ask? Sorry I didn't seek out info for gluten free. I will be more detailed in future reviews! The taro tots are still on the menu currently!

Do they offer any gluten free options?

Aloha Traveler! The gluten-free options available are the Seaweed Salad, Spam on The Half Shell, Taro Tots, Butterfish Luau, Kalua Pork, Yokozuna Ribs, and the Butter Mochi dessert.

I have a question about my reservation and haven't been able to get anyone in the phone for a week. Is there a better phone number?

The best way to reach our travel agents is to call 512-772-3700 during business hours (Monday through Wednesday from 4 pm until 12am, Thursday and Friday from 4pm-2am, Saturday 2pm-2m Sunday from 2pm-10pm). You can also send a message in a bottle to… Read more

Are there any non-alcoholic Tiki options available?

I do t know but they have a full service bar so I would think they could do a mock cocktail for sure.

Are there any vegan food options?

Aloha traveler! We have a few vegan offerings, just ask your tour guide!

Are children allowed in or only 21older?

As we are more focused on the drinks, all guests must be 21 or older.

How do you make a reservation here? I've tried calling and emailing, but haven't gotten a response. Thank you!

They use the Resy app. https://resy.com/cities/atx/tiki-tatsu-ya-atx

On the website after 10pm it says "late night munchies" is that a different menu from the normal one?

Yes! The late night munchies menu includes Mochiko Wings, Yokozuna Ribs & Taro Tots.

Do they have a full dinner menu? Online it only looks like small bites

It's more like tapas style

Do they take walk-ins for the bar area or in general?

It's a very small area. So if they do, it may be a wait because they are always packed. All the people waiting along with us had made a reservation.

Do they take reservations?

Yes. In fact, you practically need a reservation.

Is there a kids menu?

Nope

For outdoor seating you have to order everything at the bar and they will bring the food to your table. So there is no table service other than that. It was still great though we got everything we need and the food came out in good timing. The drinks were really fun and I really liked the cold foam on the beer! Definitely must try! The appetizers were not that good I would skip. The miso ramen though, was AMAZING!! The broth is so rich and creamy. The noodles were also really good at picking up the broth. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. #5 Tsukemen/Dipping Broth ($16.50): The dipping broth wasn't umami enough to hold up as a true dipping broth, so we ended up pouring it over our noodles and eating it like a regular ramen bowl. The flavors were really good and better than the MI-SO-HOT. The only complaint about the broth was that it wasn't warm or hot. The noodles were bouncy and thick like udon, which I loved. They only gave one slice of chashu, which was disappointing, so I'm glad we added the extra Goma Pork/Sesame Seasoned Ground Pork ($2.50) and Naruto Maki ($1.50). Chashu Rice Bowl ($8.50): Good, but not as flavorful or melt-in-your-mouth as last time. #4 MI-SO-HOT (Tonkotsu) ($16): My cousin got this and it was actually bulked out with veggies. It was good, but the flavors weren't anything standout. Not super spicy either, so the heat is very tolerable.

The bowl was loaded with a ton of lettuce or cabbage and piles of green onions, which totally threw off the balance of the dish. Before, the flavor was rich, deep, and spicy in a satisfying way. This time it felt watered down, overly bulky from the vegetables, and the overall taste just did not resemble what I remember at all. It felt like a completely different recipe. On top of that, the restaurant was dead at lunch, which was surprising for this place. The inside layout and seating have also been changed, and the space feels less cozy and more awkward than before. The whole vibe is just different. I hate writing this because this used to be the OG best ramen spot in town, but it has gone really downhill. Between the recipe change, the overload of greens, and the interior changes, it just was not the same experience. With so many new and better options around Austin now, I will not be returning. Sadly.....Check the last two photos for reference - time/date stamp.

I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. Apr 8, 2026 review:…read more I've been at Nori two times in person and recently tried their to-go order. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion.
