Ramen del Barrio is the kind of place that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about comfort food. Ramen and Mexican flavors together? Sounds wild--until you try it. Then it just makes perfect sense. Tucked inside an unassuming Asian market, the restaurant may be temporary (they're here until December 21, 2025), but it's packed with personality. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the energy of a Japanese ramen house--anime art lining the walls, bright colors, and a hum of excitement that matches the boldness of the menu. You order at the counter, find your seat, and watch the magic happen. I went for the Mole Tsukemen, a dish that perfectly captures what Ramen del Barrio is all about--creativity, flavor, and cultural soul. The thick, hand-pulled noodles come served beside a steaming bowl of rich, house-made mole studded with tender carnitas and crispy tortilla strips. Tradition says to dip the noodles in the sauce, but I couldn't resist pouring the mole straight over and mixing it all in. One bite and I was transported--back to college days when ramen and my mom's Mexican leftovers got me through the week. Only this time, it was elevated to something extraordinary. The mole was earthy, smoky, and beautifully complex, with just enough spice to make my forehead glisten. It's not for the faint of heart, but that's part of the fun. The service was fast and friendly, and despite the line of eager diners, the team behind the counter never lost their smiles. It's no wonder Guy Fieri dropped by for Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Ramen del Barrio is a celebration of flavor and culture--a place where creativity meets comfort, and every bite tells a story. I can't wait to visit again once they open their new brick-and-mortar spot--and this time, I'll remember to take a photo before I dig in.
Not your traditional ramen place. The ramen has a Japanese/Mexican fusion which surprises my husband and I. We were in town for graduation and decided to grab lunch at Ramen Del Barrio. The restaurant is inside a market. It had a small food court section that had about 3-4 restaurants. Plenty of space to choose your table. Ramen Del Barrio also had a small bar-top area for seating. We ordered Carnitas Tonkotsu ramen and a Hamachi tostada to share. Hamachi Tostadas - diced Hamachi, habanero mayu, agave, ponzu soaked cherry tomatoes, nori & guacamole. One word. Phenomenal. It all paired nicely together and was my favorite dish. One order only comes with one tostada so if you're with other people, you might want to order more than one. Carnitas Tonkotsu - Shoyu tare, pork bone broth. The noodles were cooked to perfection. Neither too chewy nor too hard. The broth was creamy & satisfying. Very well balance of umami from the broth. We would order this again. Great experience, friendly staff and would return if I am in the area.
One of my friends in the area couldn't stop talking about the greatness of the food at Ramen Del Barrio and so on my way out of town ( going home to CA) I decided to have lunch here. That said, I didn't think they would be located in a food court of an Asian market! The location doesn't do them any harm as there was a long lunchtime crowd with the surrounding tables full or ramen customers. I was happy to get a seat at the counter which I loved because it gave me the chance to look at all of there restaurants imagery and art...all lovely. I ordered: 1) Carnitas tonkatsu ramen bowl-the noodles were amazing and had good resistance without being chewy. The carnitas (pieces of meat) were good and the right amount for the bowl. The star for me was the broth... like nothing I've ever tried; delicious with a lot of depth. 2) one campinion taco-a mushroom taco that's was so full of flavor and texture. The handmade corn and blue corn ( I think) taco added to an already delicate texture. 3) one pastor taco- the slice of pork was a little thicker than I expected but was full of grill and charred flavor in addition to the spices that I could place. Ramen Del Barrio does someone head turning stuff with some basic concepts from Mexican and Japanese cuisine. The food they serve isn't fancy...has a street food vibe that includes a high level of flavor and execution....in my experience better than some sit down restaurants. Im envious of anyone that can have this food as their lunch everyday because it's truly special.
Ramen Del Barrio - Austin, Texas My last meal at Austin, Texas before leaving for Houston, Texas. This is another Michellin guide mentioned restaurant, and this did not disappoint. I was not quite sure why would a Mexican fusion Japanese ramen would get a Michellin recommended, but I was glad to come here to find out. This place is inside a food court of Hana Market, which is a Korean market. I came at an opening time during weekdays, but I would recommend to avoid busy time just to avoid busy lines. The taco was very crispy and made with fresh tasted ingredients, and the Mole Tskumen ramen has this amazing noodles. The dipping saucr for Tskumen ramen was great, too. 1700 W Parmer Ln Suite 100, Austin, TX 78727
Came here for the pools ramen and it was delicious!!! So flavorful and the portion size was huge!!! The tuna roseada was bomb too
We got here on a weekend maybe a little after one and the line wasn't very long, but it still took quite awhile to take our order (maybe 30-40 min to order and get food). Fortunately the wait was worth it. The carnitas ramen was a fun twist on your more typical ramen, and the menudo (red) ramen was really tasty as well. It definitely has the taste of menudo with a mixture of ramen/menudo ingredients. I'd recommend both! The restaurant itself is sort of part of a korean grocery store, alongside a Korean restaurant and donut shop. It's a very casual setting, but you're there for the food. Overall I'd recommend to try it, I think the fusion ramen works well and think it's worth a drive to check it out!
My husband said he wanted Ramen for lunch so I found us this Mexican-Japanese Fusion gem. You know you picked a popular place when you look at the picture of the line when we arrived at 11:30 AM versus the line when we left around 12:15 PM The Carnitas Tonkatsu Ramen was phenomenal. Love that broth The snow crab on my tostada had a lovely sweet taste, balanced by a super crispy corn tortilla, and a hint of spice. And I wish I had gotten a picture of the pork belly taco since it was delicious, but my husband got to it first The pork belly was perfectly cooked and so tender, it almost melted in your mouth. And it was really cool that they served it on a tortilla that was half blue corn and half yellow corn. They have a 36 hour slow roasted short rib taco that I would love to try, but they were out of it today. Now we have something to look forward to next visit If we lived here, I would definitely be back often. Nice people that work their and its in a cool Food Court in Hana World Market Thank you Ramen Del Barrio for a great lunch!
Love love love love love!!!! Hokkaido scallop aguachile tostada -- the scallops were so fresh so sweet so tender! But damn this sauce has a KICK to it, so just be warned of that! Delicious but hot! Tuna tartare -- this was the special on the wall and it was very good, although maybe a little too heavy on the soy sauce. Chilaquile ramen (got the green sauce) - goddamn this is so freaking good!!! First, I loooove the noodles that they have here! They have chew, they have enough squiggle to really hang onto all the sauce. The salsa Verde gave a freshness that balanced the richness of the egg, avocado, and carnitas. Oh, I need to specially mention the carnitas here --- whatever they are doing, they are doing it RIGHT! It seems like they are using all sorts of pork bits (instead of, say, only pork shoulder). I found some stomach parts that add so much flavor and texture (but chopped up small so I think most ppl wouldn't even notice). I know that doesn't always sound good to people, but trust me, it's GOOOOOOD!
A chill spot in a grocery store food court- perfect for an easy meal! Standouts were the pozole rojo- I usually am not a soup/ramen person but this was such a warm comforting meal. The broth was flavorful and the portion was pretty decent. The tacos were good- fave was for sure the al pastor. They are on the pricier side though. Snowcrab tostada was also great. Staff is super friendly and food comes out quick!
Casual Japanese/mexican fusion spot in an Asian grocery store food court with truly some unreal tasty food. Ramen del Barrio was my last food spot I tried on a recent trip to Austin and it was truly a saved-the-best-for-last situation. Tucked into the Hana World Market food court, this is the definition of hidden gem. It opens at 11 am, and I went with friends who knew this place gets popping early, so we arrived at 10 til 11, and were maybe the 8th person in line. When they opened formally at 11, the line exploded exponentially, so arriving even a few minutes before opening is truly worth it. Once they opened, it took about 5 minutes for them to take our order - the line moves fast! They have seasonal specials and also change the menu a bit based on what they have. This is a Ramen spot with Japanese and Mexican flavors, but they also have some non-ramen items and we tried a bit of everything. There is maybe 1 vegetarian item (mushroom taco) on the menu, but otherwise this is really a spot for carnivores, and it would be hard to find anything to eat here as a vegan. For three adults and one toddler we got: Spicy Tuna Tostada (favorite item, so fresh and tasty), the Mole Tsukeman dipping noodles (smoky, incredible flavor, not spicy), Cochinita Tonkatsu (a special - creamy pork broth, our favorite of the ramen items), Tripa Taco (beef intestine, chewy and crunchy and so flavorful, favorite item), Champiñon Taco (mushroom super flavorful, surprisingly spicy), Costillo Taco (this was just okay, little less flavor than other items), and the Daily Sashimi (tuna, the truffle wasabi sauce was amazing). It was about $120 altogether but was also probably 1 more item than we should have ordered (we devoured the food but definitely slowed down towards the end and I didn't feel like I needed dinner after eating so much.) The flavors here are insane. Incredibly punchy and rich but not heavy. I am kind of spice averse and we had a 2 year old with us and the only item that really had spice was the mushroom taco (which I could still eat just fine), so I was pleasantly surprised by that. The combination of Japanese and Mexican doesn't seem like it should work but it did, and I really appreciated that the food wasn't overly salty or oily, as other fusion spots who have tried this style of food have been for me. The tuna tostada was one of the best things I ate all weekend. When we ordered it, they had to check if they still had some left, even though we were maybe the 8th person in line. They sell out of that item so quickly, it's a risk if you'll be able to get it, even if you get there early! Overall, this was a great example of how casual eats are truly unbeatable in Austin and there are some real hidden gems if you're willing to go off the beaten path!
Wanted to leave a review of this place before they move to their brick and mortar later in December. If you haven't been to the current location it's inside the food court of a Korean grocery that is also closing this month. I work in an office park nearby a couple days a week and so there's one day a week that I happen to work from the office and they are open during lunch hours. If you happen to come here the week I wrote this review of next week try to be in line before 11:30am. The staff regulates the speed of the line so the kitchen can manage the workload so be patient if you arrive later. I normally sit at the counter but you can sit anywhere in the food court in front of the stall so you can hear when your name when they deliver your order to your table. I get their carnitas tonkutsu which has an excellent pork base broth and you can get a roasted chili added for a little kick and to me it's a great fusion dish and it doesn't take me long to finish the bowl. In the summer they have a cold ramen dish that is spicy with lots of baby scallops for a little sweetness and umami. They have tostadas with tuna and often have different sashimi available. Prices are a tad elevated but nothing crazy and I think it's well worth it for a Michelin recommended place.
I had some friends visit Ramen del Barrie way back when they first opened, and had heard a lot of not so great things. But since then, I've seen a lot of lists online ranking ramen del barrio in their top spots in Austin to eat. And they were awarded the Bib gourmand by Michelin and I figured it was time for me to finally try this spot out for myself! Located inside Hana World, there's plenty of parking and tables to eat at, so you just order at the counter, pick a seat, and they'll bring the food out to you. The servers were so friendly and I really appreciated the menu listing out what was recommended for first time visitors. So of course, I got the Carnitas tonkotsu! The broth was really delicious and flavorful without being too heavy or oily. And the carnitas were so tender and soft! I'm a big fan of fusion, so I thought the combination was a big hit! I wasn't the biggest fan of the noodles. They were good, but I prefer a thicker flatter noodle. I would also really recommend getting the salsa macha! It's kinda expensive, but they give you a lot! It's like a garlicky chili oil that's not too spicy, but adds more depth and flavor to your dish. Overall, it's not like this was my favorite place in the world, but I think it's a pretty solid spot! Would definitely want to go back to try the other menu options though.
Pozole Ramen was 5 stars. Perfect umami of flavors & the broth was just the right amount of greasy that you expect. The carnitas ramen is a little more mild in flavor but very delicious as well. The crab tostada was severely overpriced for what it was, and unfortunately I cannot reccomend that. The last day in the Hana Market is Dec 21st and then they will open their new location off of Kramer in March of 2026. Definitely looking forward to trying this spot again in a nicer atmosphere. Right now its one of the last things in operation in the store and they seemed pretty busy, so thats a great sign! Our cashier was helpful and friendly too.
I didn't think it was possible to live up to the hype, so breathlessly extolled by every quasi-wannabe-influencer that it bordered on satire. Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but definitely leaves your lips tingling. I'm glad I finally got there before they close up shop at their current location in Hana World Market on December 21st, and even happier to know that their new brick-and-mortar isn't too far behind. I'll be there as soon as the doors open! read more
Another lunch of bliss here. Can't wait to see the new place in February. The costilla taco has to be one of my favorites now for sure. The Ramen is amazing as well, still have not tried the mole yet, but that's on my list. Coming here is usually a joy, the music is fenomenal. The staff super friendly and chill and the food is just so unique. Love to try their updated appetizers, they're always so tasty!!! read more
This spot is pretty cool. It's a Japanese Mexican fusion ramen place tucked inside an Asian market, and I can see why it's popular. When we got there, the line was going down the side of the wall. It's basically a little hole in the wall with food court seating, and there are a couple of other small places right next to it. The food was legit. They've got this habanero salsa that looks like black tar and it's seriously intense. The lady working there told us to only put a little bit in and she wasn't lying. That stuff is next level spicy. The ramen was super good though. Great flavor and a cool fusion twist that actually works. Only thing is the price. For two bowls of ramen, some sashimi, and two sodas it was about $75. That's kinda crazy for a casual spot like this, so not sure I'd go all the time. Still, I really liked the vibe and I can't believe I never noticed this place inside the market before. Definitely worth checking out if you want something different and you can handle a little heat. read more

Stopped by Ramen Del Barrio to meet up with a friend during a weekend trip to Austin - really enjoyed the fusion style and the combination of flavors. Our favorite bite of the meal was the tripa taco, the togarashi went so well with the crispy tripe! The scallop tostada was very refreshing but the flavor of the scallop got a bit overpowered by the other flavors. The carnitas ramen was pretty good, though the noodles were not quite as al dente as I usually like. Similar to the tostada, the ceviche was super fresh but the flavors of the spices kind of overpowered the fresh raw shrimp too. Overall I enjoyed the ideas and most of the execution - would recommend to anyone interested in trying some interesting Mexican/Japanese fusion. read more
Where else can you get Mexican inspired ramen? The food absolutely lives up to the hype, and they're moving from a food court to a full restaurant next month which means they're about to take off. All foodies in Austin, this is a required visit. read more

Michelin recommended ramen. Ramen del barrio. Looks like Japanese ramen, tastes like Mexican chicken tortilla soup. I can't believe it's Michelin. read more
Came here to see what the Michelin Bib Gourmand was about and was super impressed!! I loved the fusion between Japanese and Mexican flavors in the dishes I ordered. This place is tucked away in an old marketplace, would never expect this hidden gem inside. The ambiance was definitely not great, but thankfully they're moving to a new location soon, which should be super beneficial! Service was quick and easy. Would definitely come again to their new location to experience more of their flavorful dishes. read more

Yes the Ramen is good but don't sleep on some of the other tasty dishes like the Spicy Tuna tostada and the Pork Belly taco. These were outstanding. The Ramen is a Mexican/Japanese style and not your traditional Ramen. It works. Full of flavor and deliciously different. Service was friendly and fast. read more
Came here at 11:10 am on a Saturday and there was no line which was great! By the time we left at around 12-12:30 pm definitely already a long line forming, so definitely recommend coming when they open. Located in Hana Market (which unfortunately will close at end of 2025, but do not fear they are opening up a brick and mortar on Kramer) this ramen food stand is dishing out some seriously good food. I am a vegetarian and I was worried there wouldn't be any items for me and was so happy there were two items on the menu I could eat and both were delicious! So glad they have vegetarian items - yes I know it shares a fryer but that doesn't bother me as I didn't taste any meaty flavors if that makes sense. The two dishes that can be made vegan/vegetarian is the mole tsukemen and their mushroom taco. I actually loved their mushroom taco more! The oyster mushrooms were smoky and seasoned well and I loved that the tortilla was half blue corn half yellow and had great soft texture without being gritty. Although at $9 my heart hurt for paying that much for a taco but it was delicious! The mole tsukemen includes the mole separate and it has a nice smoky flavor but definitely not sweet mole if you're thinking it will be like a chocolate mole flavor. The noodles were perfectly chewy and loved the roasted jalapeño that came with it. They didn't have their full menu available with shareables because I believe they are closing up shop but most of their menu was available. Parking was super easy - free since it shares with Hana World. Also plenty of seating as they share with other food court restaurants so no worries about it being a tight squeeze. read more
Mexican fusion ramen shop! Tasty blend of both worlds. Really enjoyed the hotate aquachiles. The salsa that's on it has a really nice smoke flavor. Restaurant is in the food court of Hana world. They have a small area bar seats and tables. read more
I have wanted to try this place since it opened 3years ago They are closed on Tuesday so I never got to go. Today was my first opportunity. The Carnitas Tonkotso definitely was exceptional and delicious. I loved the broth and noodles. Definitely worth having again. We waited 30+ minutes to order due to line at 11:45. They stopped taking orders due to huge to go orders before we arrived. Highly recommend Del Barrio. They are moving to new location in December. read more

The food is amazing ! This place doesn't have ambiance though . It's a very small secret ramen spot. Very casual lunchroom vibe . A low key Michelin star place . The appetizers blew my mind ! The pork belly taco melts in your mouth because it's so tender and cooked and grilled to perfection also the bicolor xor tortilla is simply beautiful and artfully made The crab tostada the presentation with wasabi caviar bejewel the tostada and just glowed on the fresh lump crab . The creamy silky pozole ramen. Unfortunately the mole ramen isn't easy to eat and is very mess but the richness if flavor is worth it . The hours are some what limited as well read more
If you ever make it to the ramen del barrio, get ready to have the BEST ramen you have probably had in the US. Granted it is not the traditional ramen but it is the perfect combination between two cultures. They do an amazing job mixing the flavors and having different options in the menu. It is located in a food court outside of a supermarket so the place is very casual and the service is what you would expect from a food court location. read more
This is one of the most unique restaurants I've been to. It's a Mexican-Japanese fusion ramen restaurant located in the food court of a decrepit Asian supermarket. It really made me sad walking around the grocery store because of how dead it was on a Saturday afternoon. I hope they are able to revive their store. Anyways, this ramen was fantastic. Even at 3pm, there was a little line, so I am glad we did not come during peak hours. I had the carnitas tonkotsu ramen. Carnitas in ramen was so so good. The pepper made it spicy, so I took it out right away. The counter has such a cool vibe to it with amazing decorations. The food court was pretty messy and not that nice, but that's alright. My friend and I both finished our ramen bowls, and we were very full after. $17.32 for a bowl is a little higher than I would expect considering this restaurant's location, but it was absolutely worth it. read more
I was genuinely mind blown by how delicious this take out meal was. I love love love spicy food and this scallop crudo had AMAZING flavor and was the perfect ratio of everything. Spice, sweetness, creaminess, wow. 10/10 recommend. Then the ramen. I don't love heavy ranens so I spent a few min skimming away the oil but I don't even mind. Would get this again in a heartbeat. It had so many interesting parts of the pig (pulled pork, skin, and some other cuts I don't even know). The broth was so delicious. I can't wait to get this meal again. Such a fun and delicious fusion concept read more

Flavorful Mexican-Japanese fusion, a delightful combination indeed. It's the first store when you enter the food court of Hana World Market. There's a restroom in the food court as expected. Bus your own table after finishing. I thought it was a little pricey, especially the tacos. I did see they had specials for tacos in a previous month but at the regular price, the price point seems high. Mole Tsukemen - I saw this was sold out before so I knew it was a must try. While I was a big fan, I strongly wish there was a ramen equivalent. Sure one can pour the dipping broth into the noodle bowl but tsukemen broth is thicker. The high viscosity is reflective of the high sodium and it's too salty to enjoy. Mole chicken was delicious as well. Tender and juicy chicken with a nice fry. read more
OK, my fellow YELPER foodies I'm back for another installment for delicious food and an around ATX.... We are all familiar with Michelin stars.... We all know it has been an eternity since Austin has seen any Michelin stars but finally the stars have aligned no pun intended..... I had to check out this place due to the Michelin star rating and see what the hype is all about. GOOOOOO GAWD THIS PLACE EXCEEDED TASTE PROFILE EXPECTATIONS. Not only is it a hidden gem inside HANNA world (SP) but there is a cute little H Mart. You can check out when you're done eating. Let me remind you that this is a Hispanic in Japanese infusion concept and my God they did not disappoint !! The tacos were next level as I decided to go with the pork belly and Wagyu!! The delicious decadence of amenities inside the taco Paired and complemented the shell was wrapped in! The sauce is inside were perfect just the right amount of heat! As for the Ramen, I'm not gonna say that I'm a Ramen snob, but I definitely appreciate delicious Ramen and when I tell you right now that the broth this Ramen comes in was rich, buttery creamy flavorful, you could taste the zest from the lime, the cilantro and onions, and that was made with love and passion!! we added extra meat as well as a seasoned egg and I will tell you I was a little thrown off by the tortilla strips WHY I DONT KNOW .... That little bit of crisp and crunch was a perfect way to take every bite.!! This place is fantastic, and I will most certainly be back to try other things for some reason. I thought they had a BARRIA Ramen... maybe it's a special but they definitely run daily specials and yesterday they had PAZOLE RAMEN!!! I appreciate the delicious food. We will most certainly be back and I will tell you you need to go early. The line is crazy long sometimes and they will sell out. read more
A very unique twist to both Japanese and Mexican cuisine that is sure to impress your taste buds. Every dish has complex layers with flavor hits that just keep delivering bite after bite. I love that it's in a food court bringing the culture of fine food to a casual setting. Service is helpful and kind, but you do have to bus your own table. If you arrive and there is a line, wait it out, its it's worth it. read more
I don't know how to begin. I've heard so many good things about this place. It's so near my house and I have not been here but have always wanted to go. I finally got to when my friend wanted to try it, and I went knowing that this place is moving so I expected a lot because of all the hype. I have not heard one bad thing from any of my friends and foodies so I expected a lot. So we came here for lunch on a Wednesday and as to be expected because I usually shop at Hana World it was kind of busy so that's a good sign. I already knew that the menu was limited and I already knew I don't love fusion food, but there was no negative reviews. Everyone hyped this place up so I had to try it. The three of us ordered a little bit of everything so we can get a fair review. We got the most basic ramen for first timers. Also the tuna tostada and the short rib taco. The ramen came out first and we were all excited to try. First thing that we realize is that the broth is not hot. It was borderline lukewarm, and that was a turn off. Second thing we noticed was how strong the pork taste and smell was. I know most tonkatsu ramen can be porky, but we all three of us did not expect it to be that pungent. It was a bit of a turn off but the funny thing is while you keep eating it the taste goes away. The smell goes away. The noodles were pretty good and that's why I'm giving it a three star. The noodles were fine. The whole thing was OK but was it worth the $17.50? I don't think so moreover, the tostada and the taco was only one each and it was over $15 each that is absurd! The tostada had a good crunch. My friends actually liked it. We all took a bite of the tiny tostada. I was a little worried that the raw fish wasn't that clean being in a market, but it was all right. I think out of the three dishes they enjoyed that the most. The taco was the funkiest thing of all. It is fusion. The Korean flavored short rib I thought was not bad, but with the cheese and the ooze and whatever is in there, it was really funky indeed. They didn't like it. I ate the rest of it since it was a tiny thing anyways and I was still hungry. But totally not worth the near $15 for one taco. I think when my friend ordered she thought that they would give us two or three tacos. But I let them order all three things, not knowing what we're really getting. We expected a wow because of all the hype for this place. The atmosphere is just ok since it's in the food court of a dinky Asian market. It's always been here. I grew up around this place. I always ate at the Korean market. We're really excited to see how busy it has been because of this place and also the Mochinut and the café outside has really given life to this market so I'll be sad to see this place go however had to write the review hopefully that they will take note that the price point is absurd. I would've given it 2 stars, but seeing people seem to enjoy it and the workers are nice I didn't have the heart to. It's probably the busiest establishment that has been here but for me, it's not that great. Hopefully at their new location they will do as well. The price point must be better. At least for the tiny tostada and tacos. Way overpriced! Kinda a let down because this place was so hyped :( read more
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I had never heard of Ramen Del Barrio until recently. And come to find out that a ramen spot inside a grocery store (Hana World) has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award!? I ordered the Carnitas Tonkotsu (bottom in pic), My friend ordered the Pozole Tonkotsu. Needless to say the food was incredible, while also not having the long lines that other Michelin recognized restaurants around Austin have. I'll definitely be back asap to try their tacos. Although I must say, it'll be hard to not order the ramen again. read more

Ramen del Barrio brings a creative twist to ramen by blending Japanese and Mexican flavors. I've tried two dishes so far -- the carnitas tonkotsu and the green chilaquiles-men -- and while the tonkotsu was comforting and flavorful, the green chilaquiles-men completely stole my heart. It's the only "dry ramen" on their menu, but there is nothing dry about it. The dish consists of thick noodles coated in a spicy tomatillo salsa, topped with carnitas, avocado, queso, crema, crispy tortilla strips, and an onsen egg. Every bite bursts with flavor, and it's so hearty that you can split it into two meals. Fair warning: the spice level is no joke, but that's part of what makes it addictive. Even the cold leftovers are phenomenal. Service was pretty quick on a weekday around 5 PM, but expect a crowd Friday through Sunday. read more
Ramen Del Barrio offers a unique twist on classic ramen by incorporating tex-mex flavors. Stopped by on a Saturday evening around 6 pm and it was busy! It's located within the Hana World Market food court and it was the only restaurant there with a line. The wait wasn't too bad though - 20 min in line, and then another 20 min till our food arrived. The worker at the counter was also accommodating with explaining the different options. Lots of seating available, not too loud. Carnitas Tonkotsu ($16, 4/5) - The combination of pork broth, mixed carnitas, grilled pepper and onions, and radish makes for a satisfying meal + limes for that extra kick - The noodles are thin but still chewy - wish they had an option for thicker noodles though! - Broth is really rich so just a heads up if you're not someone who likes heavy ramen soup - Portions are very filling Overall solid food for the price, check it out if you're looking for different takes on your classic ramen! read more

Long time follower, and first time trying Ramen Del Barrio inside Hana World. We went in Jan and it was cold outside (and inside the food court)! Ordered a few different things to get a taste of the Mexican fusion menu. Everything was exceptional and not only did we leave with an understanding of what a Mexican ramen tastes like but also an appreciation of the use of quality ingredients to bring the perfect flavors together for an all around delicious foodie experience! Carnitas Tonkotsu - rich broth with some of the best carnitas we've ever had. The tare was exceptional and the jalapeños, radishes were a nice nod to LA street tacos. Noodles were perfection! Well rounded dish and much appreciated on a cold day! Hokkaido Scallop Tostada - I can't even describe all the flavors in this dish. WOW the green "tobiko" was a flavor explosion. The simple dish was spicy, savory and refreshing in every bite. Lengua Taki-Taco - the corn tortilla was one of the best we've ever had, hands down. Ranks on the same level as some heritage corn mixta tortillas we've had. The char (grill) was excellent and made for quick perfect bites. Cannot wait to return and continue to eat through their menu! 5 read more
