Not sure if anyone reads this, but I'll comment anyways. I went here with my husband and overall enjoyed it. I've been here 3 times now. I enjoyed it enough to come back a few times and will come back again. In the spirit of constructive criticism, here is what I have to say, just a few things to note though: The bar is not a real bar. It's just another table, but looks like a bar. The bar doesn't actually function like you'd expect a bar to function. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit misleading. You still get a server, can't seat yourself at the bar, etc. Might as well just sit at a table then. If someone reads this, I'd highly suggest at least considering making the bar function like a real bar! The tables are very close together. I know the place is small so this isn't something you can really change without losing money by reducing the amount of tables, but boy they are packed close. This is more something that maybe customers would like to know though. Management is all white, but the sushi chefs are Japanese. The servers are mostly white too. Not that this is a problem, but it does strike me as a little bit surprising and ever so slightly off-putting. At least, it makes me question what's going on initially. I know supposedly the owners are Japanese, per their website, but it might be nice to see more Japanese people in charge, at a Japanese place. The bussers look to be the hardest working kids out there. I hope they get paid fairly. Every time I've been there, they're the ones rushing around as fast as they can, cleaning up tables all over the place. I'm surprised they only have a couple of them, when they have way more servers. Not sure if this is normal, but they seem to be working really hard. There is no "Happy Hour", Google lied. Google has on their page that they have a happy hour when you look up this place. Turns out they don't. The servers are a little bit loud and rowdy sometimes. I know they all look to be in their mid to early 20's, but it might get to be a bit much. When they go back into their little corner or "hideout" they seem to be screaming and talking really loudly sometimes. Also, they like to scream "CORNER" constantly. I get that this might be a thing they do, to avoid crashing into each other, but there's no need to scream it across the entire building. Especially when it is quiet already. Speaking of screaming, when you walk in, they scream (I looked up what it is so forgive me if this is a typo): IRASHAIMASE (which apparently is "welcome in" in Japanese. The thing is, instead of making it a classy, cute thing they do, they scream it as obnoxiously as they can, like junior high kiddos would scream "67" these days. It went from cute, to annoying after about the 3rd time I heard them do it, while I was eating. If they all said it in a pleasant classy way, I would really like it, although it's become really quite obnoxious. It even looks like some of the employees are over it. I can't imagine how many times they do that daily. Lastly, the music does not match the atmosphere at all. One time I went in, they had rock music on, the next, they had country. The last time I went, they had 80's. They should either have classical or wordless music such as jazz, or some kind of Japanese music. Not sure why they have such out-of-place music. My most previous server was a doll! I also hope the servers get paid. Some of them weren't as friendly, but I won't rag on individual people, as they may have been just having a bad day. The most previous one had pink hair though and was super cute and friendly. As for another good thing, the ambiance and food are definitely above average and the prices don't break the bank. Overall, quite enjoyable place. None of the things I mentioned should make you avoid this place by any means. This is mostly for the staff and management to fix a few things, if they care. That is it! Hopefully someone at least reads this. Not sure if managers actually read these reviews though. If not, oh well. Hope this helps someone one day! read more

We went on a busy Friday, not realizing it was graduation week. We were told that it would be a 30-40 minute wait but honestly did not feel that way. I ordered a yuzu flavored alcoholic drink and it was delicious! That might have something to do with why the wait didn't feel so long lol! Anyways we ordered the Kome set each (amazing), o-toro (it's been so long and it was worth it), nigiri sampler and the midnight sun roll. None of them disappointed and we left with a full tummy. Komé is good but could be great. The huge menu is a catch all of everything you could expect from Japanese cuisine. It's almost so much that there are too many options. Thankfully, most a very good choices! The fries are great. It's weird to start with that but they really are. Same goes for pretty much any sushi. You'll be able to taste the freshness of the fish. However, avoid the curry and katsu. My katsu can only be described as overdone. The breading tasted nearly burnt dry and banding in the meat (see my photo) shows how it was separating from being cooked too long. The curry is as disappointing as their sister restaurant. It's weak enough that I'd venture I could produce a better curry in bulk. Their menu also changes between lunch and dinner so it's possible other non sushi options are better. So do come here and enjoy the sushi, but don't venture into the other menu items. They'd really shine by focusing on a core menu with less accompanying dishes. read more

Kome is a popular sushi spot that can get quite busy during peak hours. I was excited to try it after learning that it shares ownership with Uroko and Tonari, both of which I really enjoy. The menu is large, fun, and approachable, making it an easy option for a casual sushi meal. Unfortunately, the quality didn't quite match the price point for me. The sushi was perfectly decent, but it felt more comparable to what I'd expect from a casual takeout spot in California. It wasn't bad by any means, but I didn't find it memorable enough to justify the wait or the higher prices. Delicious! The picture doesn't do this any justice but I found this lunch amazing. Comes with a nice bowl of miso soup - flavorful and well balanced. The chicken skewers were well marinated and tender. I love that this bowl was popping with so many ingredients and flavors. This was my first time here, and found this service great. For a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy but I had no wait. Easy parking lot too! Check this place out if you love Japanese food. Large menu with a lot of variety. Ambiance sometimes quite noisy if you choose the wrong time, I went on Saturday around 1 pm, so there were quite a lot of families fill out tables. But that didn't stop me enjoying my good sushi. So good, as usual! My fiancé and I came in at around 12:30 on a weekday. It was pretty packed in the parking lot so we didn't think we would get a table, but we were immediately seated at the bar. We both ordered the sushi lunch special. I got mine with the sunshine roll, which was tasty! All the fish is so fresh and basically melts in your mouth. Went here for my friend's birthday for dinner and everyone enjoyed it! All of the staff were kind and the restaraunt was a cute place for celebrations and dates! We all ordered rolls and shared with one another, including: nigiri set, spooky roll, superfly roll, rock n roll, and trio roll. we all split the takoyaki! for drinks my friends got i love yuzu much! and yuzu kosho margarita -- they loved it! all foods were very yummy! definitely will come back :) read more

The lights are dim but the vibes are immaculate. It's a fun place, perfect for the whole family, a quick bite, or even a date. Only available during lunchtime, this bountiful bowl of Veggie Ramen is a steal. There are no frills or wild creative twists, but well-balanced with kombu dashi complemented by gossamer chili threads for a gentle heat. The fried tofu on top is the real focal point, both crisp and soft, light and airy, perfect for dipping and soaking in all of that flavorful soup. Subtly creamy, with a nutty sesame undertone, it's wholly satisfying, especially with those smooth, rounded noodles that hold up well under the heat. They're very vegan friendly and there's so much more I want to try! The sushi looks expertly rolled, and the tofu steak teishoku is high on my list. What a great spot! Came here with some friends for dinner and there was no wait, which was great since it was 7:30 (prime dinner time), we got sat immediately! I started with a miso soup, and the kome fries, which were AMAZING i loved the honey wasabi aioli. Then came the nigiri and sushi, which was absolutely great- i got two salmon nigiris and 2 scallop nigiris which were all buttery and smooth, would 100% order again. Such a good spot for a nice lunch or dinner! While airport is a busy street, the location is convenient to drive to if you're already on airport. Try to have your whole party present, otherwise they may hold your spot but not seat you. Despite being packed, service was really quick. The menu has a lot of stuff, but in general it's a good mix of standard rolls with some innovative combos and specials mixed in. Checked in with Jonathan--super friendly. The QR waitlist didn't work, but we were added manually and seated in about 10-15 minutes on a busy Saturday night. My meal (miso soup, veggie tempura, and bean curd nigiri) was okay, not memorable. My friend, who's a regular, enjoyed her sushi and matcha ice cream. The service was very attentive--too much so. We were interrupted constantly, which made it hard to enjoy the meal or talk. The seating was cramped. Chairs are fixed due to the tight layout, and my chair was pressed up against the person behind me. A server even knocked my chopsticks off my plate because of how close the tables were. They don't accept cash, even for tips, which was surprising. Friendly staff and quick service, but between the tight space and over-attentive service, I wouldn't dine in again--maybe just do takeout. This place always has a wait and doesn't take reservations, so be prepared for that. Drinks are nothing to write home about IMO, but the food was outstanding!!! I was very pleased with the quality of fish and variety of menu options. Perfect for sushi lovers and for other types of Japanese food as well! I ordered the Alone Together chefs special roll; trust me it is worth splurging on. So delicious! I also ordered a few pieces of assorted nigiri, all of which were phenomenal (the sake toro and spicy scallop in particular should not be missed). Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

Came for lunch and it was a great deal! Lunch was a good time to go because they don't take reservations and there's always a long wait at dinner. We got sat almost immediately and had great service. The bento lunch had a lot more food for only a couple dollars more ($24) but the sushi lunch was plenty of food ($22). The nigiri was fresh but could have been better with some toppings to spruce up the flavor. The rolls were the best part! Ambiance: My friend and I went for dinner around 7:20 PM without a reservation, so there was a short 10-15 minute wait. The lighting in there is dim, warm, and soft, so it makes for a nice dinner atmosphere. We were able to get a table in the corner which was nice (there is also bar seating as an option). Food: We ordered the okonomiyaki, spooky roll, and midnight sun roll. The okonomiyaki looks pretty busy presentation-wise, but I really enjoyed the taste and texture of it. It had a slight crispiness to it, and the sauce complemented the cabbage well -- not too subtle, not too overwhelming. I actually enjoyed the spooky roll more than the midnight sun as I felt that it had more flavor to it. Even though I love tempura, I felt the midnight sun didn't have much as much kick or uniqueness to it to validate its price point or place on the special side of the menu. The spooky roll felt a bit more refreshing and was a bit cheaper than the midnight sun roll. Service: Our waiter was friendly, and the food came super quickly. Water comes in a nice bottle at the table with cups, so that part is self-service. As a vegan, I wanted to update my past review and share how many amazing vegan options they have. While vegan options aren't specifically marked on the menu, servers are always so kind at pointing out what is already vegan or what can be easily modified. A friend took me here for a quick lunch since I needed a sushi fix. Our waiter was polite and knowledgeable of the menu. I decided on the sushi lunch combo but upgraded my sushi roll to the summertime roll, added a house salad that has sunflower seeds that gave the salad a good crunch and the most delicious carrot and ginger dressing. Kome is a great casual sushi place. The tables are a bit close together so you're going to make friends with your neighbors or feel like they are eavesdropping. The food is good but a bit pricey for the quality. Austin unfortunately doesn't have too many good option in the casual sushi category. The appetizers are my favorite and like to get the chicken karaage, okonomiyaki, and agadashi tofu. Komé was really good! My daughter loves this place, so we went for Mother's Day. We went early in the evening because they do not take reservations. At 5:30 we didn't have to wait at all. They didn't let me take my water bottle in, which is a little weird to me, but they were really nice about it. The service was impeccable! Our guy didn't rush us but was usually around right when we needed him. We were enjoying one another's company, so we ordered 1-2 things at a time until we were all full. We did order one roll that didn't work out with our taste, and they took it off the bill while we just kept trying other things. We tried both types of pot stickers, two of the seared nigiri, 5 different rolls, and the yuzu crème brûlée. Really enjoyable meal and just the right amount of food for 3 of us. It was a cute atmosphere and the drinks were delicious but service was horrendous - our server forgot to key in my drink and so I didn't get it until the very end of our email with only one piece of sushi left. Then when we wanted to pay and leave our server was nowhere to be found we had to ask the hostess and she couldn't figure it out either so we paid with another server. Why we didn't try this place before? If you want great authentic sushi and a charming Japanese setting, this is the place to go. We were grateful that they were able to accommodate our huge lunch group with no problems. The lunch combos are not expensive and had pretty generous portions. I tried a sushi lunch. We also tried their cheesecake and creme brulee desserts. Parking is free. There are bar seats for those who want to dine alone. The menu is huge so I recommend looking it over before your visit, although the server made great suggestions as well. Stopped by for lunch while visiting Austin. They have an extensive lunch menu with many good options, and I decided to go with the yellowtail kama (collar bone) lunch. Portion was very generous, and everything, including the salad dressing and ponzu dip for the grilled kama, looked and tasted like they are prepped in their own kitchen. Kama was grilled perfectly with charred skin, adding nice flavors to this perfectly grilled fish, and I enjoyed every bit of their salad. All is plated beautifully - very enjoyable meal.
