10/10 when the owner/chef stepped in the Wagyu piece was better than I've ever had it from here. I ordered 4. Huge pieces of nigiri.

This place is in the same plaza as the Grove. It's super small and cute inside. All of the seating wraps around where they make the rolls. We were in and out and it's a great spot for lunch. The hand rolls were extremely fresh and I was impressed. I would definitely go back. I got the salmon hand roll and the unagi. Both were awesome. 2 filled me up and I was good to go!

Overall I enjoy coming to Yuki, especially since it's close to my office. However since it is bar seating only and the seats are limited, coming with a party of 3 or more means having to wait for consecutive spots to open up or split up your group. I usually order the 4 hand roll combo which is just enough for me. They taste good and are priced fairly.

First time visit this past weekend. This will be a two part review. The service was great, the place very clean, oddly for a Saturday, we were the only customers at the time ( two more couples rolled in while we were dining. As noted in a non descriptive location and all seating is around a raised counter with bar stool seating. As noted the hand rolls are not ice cream cone shaped (Temaki) but rather done in a standard "log" shape. An extra treat was provide in the form of a fried salmon skin roll, at the end of our dining. Very tasty! We tried the Tuna and Yellowtail hand rolls - they were kind enough to cut them in half for us. We also had the Lady Gaga roll, and the Agadashi Tofu. All had a great presentation and were quite fresh and tasty, though perhaps they could dial back the sweetness in the sushi rice a tad. We will definitely return and I will update the review at that time. Note this is for the location on FM620. Also I forgot to mention, the meal comes with miso soup with seaweed and clams. While I appreciate being offered the soup, it was, to my taste and my dining companion, not very good.

As a really big fan of Handies Douzo in Houston, I have been very interested in finding a good handroll place in the Austin area. Yuki was a good experience, though parking was very tricky, and the prices are higher. The rolls were good, some of the comments on here say they don't like the crab roll, but it was actually one of my favorites. It's at least reasonable if you just stick to a three or four roll combo, the individual pieces are priced too high for what they are. That said it's a nice vibe and I would probably return if I found myself in the area.

Unexpectedly intimate spot in a wet lake strip mall. We had a delicious meal, the fish was incredibly fresh and well prepared. I thought the nigiri was more exciting, the hand rolls really are just sushi rolls with the one item in them, but the nigiri was beautifully prepped and delicious (although quite large!) I also loved the clam miso soup, I have never had that before. Service was attentive and we had a nice time! Recommend!

Randomly picked from Yelp to pop in for lunch, best decision of the day. Hubby and I split the 4 hand roll (Salmon, Tuna, Crab and Yellowtail) they cut them in half for us. Then we ordered Nagiri (Salmon, Toro, Yellowtail and Tuna) very pretty presentation. Don't be intimidated by the prices everything is good portions. Hubby and I were content splitting all the above.

Cute, cute decor. Our server was awesome. He was very attentive and knowledgeable when we had questions. Pickled wasabi - I will never be without it again! The shrimp roll was weird. I failed to get a picture of the lobster roll and the avocado roll sadly. They were huge and unwieldy. The server said they aren't allowed to cut the rolls but he brought us a plate and a butter knife so we could cut the rolls ourselves. The salmon roll was yummy. The avocado and the lobster rolls were delicious.

This was a cute place with nice staff and very clean. The service was fast. For the price and what you get, this is a nice eatery. We ordered sashimi, nigiri and hand rolls. Honestly, like it's name says, it's a place for hand rolls. I'm used to the cone shape hand rolls but these were more like round rolls. They were easy to eat and very cute. The sashimi and nigiri were fresh but this isn't really a proper sushi place. If you're looking for sushi like Uchi, this will fall short. If you're looking for tasty hand rolls and laid back atmosphere, this would be the place for that. I gave it 5 stars if you go for what they specialize in and that's hand rolls.

Visit Date: August 29, 2024 I've been in a weird phase where I don't like eating raw seafood for fear of food-borne illness. But sometimes you need to leave your comfort zone and try new things. That was my experience at YUKI. I got the veggie handroll combo and two extra rolls in the shrimp katsu and masago. I thought the masago was the egg one, but come to find out it is fish roe! I still ate the whole thing. My mom ordered a couple 4-piece sashimis for us to share (including chu toro, amberjack), and I tried two. I guess I haven't been used to the texture of fresh fish, so those weren't my favorite but I could still taste how good they are & how good a deal YUKI offers. The overall quality could still be better, as according to my parents the original chefs no longer work at this location because they are helping establish the new one. Next time they suggest coming here, I won't say no AND I'll order actual sushi, not veggies.

I never wanted to step foot back in here. However, a work colleague didn't give me much of a choice. Mid summer dinner place was dead. Food ok. Edamame not in shells $7. They have specials don't tell you the prices. Wagyu sushi was $30 for two pieces. Hand roll for six $34.90. Place closes at 8:30 pm during week. I noticed once got home was charged for a Prosecco that we didn't order. The energy tags are off televisions. Only counter seating. No tables.

We've definitely been missing a good Handroll bar in Austin! My husband and I visited on a Friday evening. They do not taking reservations, so we arrived early around 5:15 and were seated right away. They open at 4:30 and it was packed by 6. There is only one U shaped bar to sit at and when it's full, there's a wait. My husband ordered one of the specials that included 5 preselected rolls and I ordered 3 separate rolls. The daily special was yellowtail. My favorite rolls were the shrimp katsu and scallop roll. The chef makes the rolls right in front of you. Everything tasted very fresh. This place is relatively pricey. The lowest priced handroll I saw was $7, so that gives you an idea of how quickly it can add up. I also ordered a glass of white wine. Three servers were circulating the bar and helping as needed. They also explained how to fill out the menu and provided good recommendations. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and might come back again on occasion.

    Madai and Chutoro Nigiri
    Blair V.

Yuki is in Bee Caves area of Austin so the food prices were a little more to reflect the area. Seating is very limited and the U shape configuration offers that of traditional Japanese sushi experience. They do not take reservations so it is a first come first serve basis. Service is quick and if you do end up waiting for a table it wouldn't be for long. The hand rolls were very delicious and the fillings tasted fresh. I had tried their crab, scallop and chutoro...the crab being my favorite! The nigiri pieces were huge! I noticed that the chefs use precut pieces (not sure if it is the same amount for the hand rolls) for their nigiri/sashimi. I almost wished the fish was slightly smaller because I felt like a blowfish after popping each nigiri piece whole in my mouth!! The madai was my favorite the chutoro was questionable on texture. We ended with a slice of their yuzu cheesecake. The yuzu flavor was very subtle and the slice itself was tiny for $7. Prices are slightly high but it is understandable because of the area. Handroll spots in Austin is almost to none and I am glad I was able to dine here!

Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!
