4.5 stars Loved that we could just walk in. We came during the holiday week so there weren't many ppl here. Loved the hot dog and sushi pieces. Each dish was quite creative.

100/10 experience. Food and drinks were out of this world. Staff recommendations were on point, and I love how they explained the flavor profiles in each item. Can't wait to go back!

Konbini has been on my list for a long time. I finally came by a little after it officially opened its space. Our party opted to sit in the Papercut space but we pretty much ordered the whole menu to sample and share. I thought that the food was pretty good overall. There were some highlights with others I probably would not order again. The cucumber salad was better than the pickles. I was expecting a Japanese sweet pickle but these were more like the western jarred pickles you would put in a Blood Mary. The cucumber salad though was a refereshing smashed cucumber salad. The Hot Dog was better than the Crab Salad sandwich. The Hot Dog had an asian flare with a lot of umami. The Crab Salad was a bit one note, especially texturally. My favorite non-sushi bite of the night was the Tofu Crisp. It was cold yet had a delicious spice and crunch from the crispy salsa macha. The aguachile was also refreshing and delicious with the citrus. I ended up trying 5 nigiri pieces, with the Kinmadai as my favorite. If you order the items as sashimi, it comes plated sauced and seasoned so you basically get the flavor experience without the rice from the nigiri option. I would definitely come back for an impromptu sushi snack, especially since it doesn't seem too busy.

The best of the best from the same team as Tare. Get one of everything and you won't be disappointed!! They have the same drinks (for now) as the front bar, and they will soon have a working bar in the back.

Walk to the back of papercut to find Konbini, a full sushi bar and izakaya. The menu has several carefully prepared pieces of nigiri or sashimi which are delicious, and they also have Sandos if you're looking to fill up for less money. They're open late and don't take reservations, making this a really unique spot to try here in Austin. You can order their food from within papercut too if you prefer the bar vibe.

    East Austin

Thank you to Hannah who made our last stop in Austin one to remember. From the recommendations to…read morethe hospitality, our brunch was one to remember because of Hannah. I had the classic breakfast but subbed the wedges either the cheddar hash browns and the toast with a regular pancake. Not going to lie when Hannah was describing the pancake, I was a bit skeptical but decided to try it and don't regret it at all! Let this be your sign to come here. Next time I'm in Austin, I'm coming back.

My 10 year old daughter and I brought an injured bird to the Austin Wildlife Rescue on Easter and…read morethought we'd try a restaurant near there. I called to see if Paperboy was open and if they had a long wait. There was a recording that said to text only. I texted but didn't receive a response. So we went to check it out. When we walked in we weren't greeted with a "hi how are you?" We just got a cold stare from the hostess and a "We're at full capacity". That's it. It was around 2:20 and they close a 3 pm so it wasn't like we were coming in at 5 minutes before closing. When we left, my daughter even said that girl was mean. If you don't like people then maybe find a job where you aren't face to face with customers. Austin certainly has changed. I've been here for over 25 years. I don't know if it's now an East Austin thing to be snooty and treat people rudely, but we went to Lou's Barton Springs last week with our dog and it was completely different experience. They were welcoming and the employees were all super friendly and nice. My daughter and I enjoyed our experience there and never again will we step into Paperboy East and be treated that way. I'd like better experiences for my kid that was born and raised in here Austin and don't want to subject her to places where we will be treated badly. BTW The right thing to have done is smile, say "good afternoon, I'm sorry but we are at full capacity. Thank you for coming I and please try us another time." It's really not hard. It's called human decency.
