We had a fantastic night and savored every dish that was served. To our lucky surprise we came during happy hour, so we ordered many things off of the happy hour menu. Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. Every roll was enjoyable and I felt like each had a little twist that really made the flavors explosive, like a shaved onion or a crispy puff on the side of the roll. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. Tenten has one of my favorite sushi happy hours in Austin, and I keep coming back for a few specific menu items. My favorite maki rolls are the scallop chirashi and the A5, but the scallop maki is the one I crave most--it's so good. Their lychee martini is also delicious and not overly sweet. The Kyoto Blush, on the other hand, was far too sweet for me, so I wouldn't order that one again. I've tried a few other dishes as well. The wagyu sando wasn't quite what I expected, since the meat had more of a patty-like texture that I didn't think paired especially well with the milk bread. The wagyu donburi had a nice layer of crispy rice at the bottom after mixing, but there were too many sour and pickled components, which threw off the balance of the dish a little. Overall, Tenten is a solid spot, especially once you know which menu items you like. Service can be a bit hit or miss, but nothing bad enough to keep me from coming back. read more

Went back to tenten and had an incredible time with the girls. We wanted to go find a happy hour but none of the girls could make it before six which is when all Happy hours are over so we have to get creative and figure 1010 on a Tuesday is the perfect spot to be because they have $10 rolls all night. I've been here recently and really enjoyed the Hamachi and the spicy tuna, however, this time around they both felt a little too fishy. They're to roll on the other hand was absolutely mind blowing and did not disappoint. Everybody's absolutely favorite role though was the truffle scallop. It was creamy. It was velvety. $10 sushi rolls on Tuesdays - yes please! This was my first visit there even though many people have recommended it to me over the last year. We decided to do a girls night here for sushi and drinks, and had a great time and delicious meal! We arrived right before happy hour ended and got discounted cocktails. We also ordered edamame before happy hour ended. We ordered a bunch of rolls to share, and each one was so good! Such a great deal on Tuesdays! We visited during happy hour with friends and also returned on a separate date night at regular pricing. Service is good and the ambiance is nice, but the food was just okay. I prefer Uchi or Uchiko over Tenten. The cocktails are also hit or miss. If you want to try this place, definitely go during happy hour. During happy hour, we tried the Hamachi, King Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Negi Toro, and Scallop Makis ($10 HH), and the King Salmon was my favorite. Kyoto Blush ($10 HH): A very sweet cocktail that tastes like it has no alcohol in it. Fig Old Fashioned ($10): Better than the Kyoto Blush and not overpowering. Sake Flight ($12): Comes with three 2 oz pours to sample - Nihon Sakari, Kiku Masamune, and Shiokawa Yamahai 'Cowboy'. I'm not a sake person, but think this is a great flight for beginners or for introducing someone to sake. Charred Edamame ($8 HH): I didn't get to try it, but the whole table loved it. Chicken Karaage ($8 HH): Good and worth ordering as an appetizer. Goto's Sakura Martini ($17): Tastes almost like straight alcohol with nothing sweet or floral about it. I could not get through more than a few sips. Yuzu Picanta ($17): Tequila, sake, pineapple, and yuzu. This tasted much better than the Goto's Sakura Martini. Daikon Pork Belly ($14): Interesting and worth trying. The daikon balances out the richness of the pork belly nicely. Wagyu Taco (2 for $24): Tiny, and reminded me of Toca Madera. We recently came here for our friend's birthday dinner event, and I was blown away by the indoor ambiance! It's an overall dimly lit restaurant with some unique lighting in different parts of the area. They have this terrestrial wall (made up of rocks and greenery) that was particularly impressive and beautiful! Our waiter provided incredible service, and even surprised our group with a generous amount of paloma shots for the birthday occasion! As for the food: (1) Chicken Karaage: Probably one of my favorite dishes of the night! The combination of togarashi kewpie and nori honey went very well with the fried chicken pieces. (2) Brussels Sprouts: Nicely charred with a generous amount of sauce, which was both tangy and had a little spicy aftertaste. (3) Spicy Tuna Maki Roll: My least favorite of the night because overall it did not stand out to me, and I personally didn't enjoy the bits of quinoa on the roll as much as I wish I did. Tried TenTen for the first time and overall had a good experience. The food was tasty, especially the Brussels sprouts--they were definitely the highlight of the meal. It is a bit on the pricey side, though, especially for the size of the rolls. I also tried duck for the first time, and unfortunately it wasn't for me. My girlfriend and I came here for Valentine's and the food was really good. Start with the chicken karaage. It's juicy and tender on the inside and pairs really well with the sauce. There's a little secret combo on the menu that was my girlfriend and I's favorite. It's the A5 wagyu nigiri chased with the quail nigiri. Eat the wagyu nigiri fully first, then have the quail nigiri right after. The ambience of the restaurant was nice. It's very dark and moody, perfect for a date night spot, and the photos came out great. Parking is very limited on the side, but they do offer valet parking. What an amazing sushi place! Everything I ordered was tasty and beautifully served. A group of friends shared numerous appetizers and had some tasty drinks for happy hour. It's an early happy hour from 4:30 to 6 and so worth making reservations. Our server was super attentive and helpful. She even shared the password for a local speakeasy we wanted to go to. The ladies washroom was bright and clean. Looking in the mirror was almost too bright lol showed all and any imperfections. I need this at home. All in all it was a fantastic experience. We got a reservation here on valentine night, the atmosphere was great, low ambient light with rain forest feel minus the crazy loud sounds so it felt romantic and . They have booth, table, and bar seating options. Valet parking. our server was attentive and have a good understanding of the menu. He came by to check on us just the right amount of time, we didn't feel interrupted or needed to wait for too long for help. we tried almost everything on nigiri menu. i would only come here for happy hour - for the quality and flavors, i think it is overpriced which is to be expected due to location the vibes are amazing for a date night ! upscale for sure. i've been here in the past and fell in love with their hand rolls, but i wanted to try the $10 tuesday makis. we got the cucumber salad which was the best dish of the whole night! i loved the seasoning that was savory and slightly tart the chirashi roll was probably the worst one. it was insanely salty and none of the fish stood out. the best maki was the scallop with truffle and yuzu. overall a good flavor combination. the king salmon was nice, but on par with other lower end sushi places. we waited an hour for food but that may be due to the fact that we went on the first tuesday where the deal was offered. read more

It's been a couple years since I last went to TenTen and this time I decided to try out their happy hour. They have a pretty decent selection of maki and drinks but not too many appetizers ("snacks"). The only item I don't recommend is the pickled cucumbers. The standout items were the King Salmon maki and the Hamachi maki. So much so that we ordered them again. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and actually gave us lemon drop shots on the house because our second round of food was ordered behind a large group and took a little longer to come out. She told me to wait outside with the other doordashers without even asking my name or my order (mind you i was getting myself takeout and was in fact NOT a dasher). I came back in and asked how she's supposed to know if my order is ready when she never even asked my name. After this I think she realized I wasn't a dasher and tried to gaslight me and tell me she would never tell me to wait outside and started trying to act nicer. They also have great drinks in all types of varieties...even nonalcoholic if preferred. Inside the restaurant, it feels very modern with touches of Japanese flavors like murals and a stone/moss wall. Low lights give it a great ambiance. The staff was also great and constantly check-in to make sure things were good. Located in downtown Austin on 6th street. My partner and I stopped in for a quick drink and decided to also try some nigiri. I ordered a mocktail but did not enjoy it as it was very sour. We got the otoro and a5 wagyu nigiri and were very disappointed with both bites. They were both extremely salty and the quality of the tuna and wagyu were not good. Both were chewy/stringy and the otoro was very cold in the middle. We told the bartender we weren't huge fans of the nigiri after he asked how it was, and I think a manager came over to apologize and offer another round of a5 wagyu nigiri on the house so that we could hopefully have a better experience. We thought that was really nice of them and took him up on the offer. Although the second round was better than the first because it wasn't doused in salt, the quality of the wagyu still left a lot to be desired. Really great deal for happy hour - the maki's are only $10 and significant portion size. The scallop and truffle maki was alright - a bit too flavorful to where you can barely taste the scallop. The rest of the maki's were good. Karaage is delicious. Overall I would say most of their food here is heavily flavored - not salty per se, just lots of flavor and not as much just focused on the seafood - which may or may not be your style. For instance, even their sashimis aren't just fish, they all have some sort of sauce or seasoning. I would have given this place 4 stars, maybe even 5 for the value. But what really turned me off was the bluefin-o-toro. I've never had o/toro that was this stringy or chewy. You should expect it to melt in your mouth - and this was far from that. Honestly we should have sent it back. It more resembled a piece of beef than anything else. Please get that fixed up. read more

Came here a couple of Saturdays ago with a group of 5 total on a reservation. Our lovely spacious booth was ready upon arrival. It is a dim downtown vibe with good music off the bat. Our server was very pleasant and very knowledgeable on the menu. The tables favorite were the brussels sprouts and the scallop roll. We ordered these both again we loved them that much. We also tried the maitake tempura, A5 wagyu, snow crab roll, bbq toro roll, and chirashi. We all thought the wagyu would be a top favorite, but it was just okay. The bbq toro roll actually had that one beat! We all enjoyed our cocktails. They make a really unique lychee martini with a foam on top that I enjoyed. It was just so small and gone in 2 sips for the price point. I really liked their old fashion too, can't go wrong there. Only complaint would be prices are a little steep, but that is what you get for that location off of east 6th. They do offer valet parking for $12 across the street by devil may care, or you can just drive around to find a pay to park like we did.
