This place will give you the best bang for your buck for all you can eat sushi. Or you can order rolls a la carte. Their sushi is really good and the menu provides a numerous amount of options. The menu is also entertaining to read, if you look at the different names of their rolls Service is always attentive and great. The ambience is dark lit with TVs playing sports and music playing but it's quiet enough to have a nice conversation. I recommend the Shrimp Tempura Roll and Golden California Roll.

Phenomenal service, fresh fish the way it should be! You can come with kids also and they have great choices. Udon noodles, nigiri, etc. great place.

Food (5/5): A budget friendly sushi option! Sushi Junai could benefit from condensing their sushi roll menu a bit since all the options were quite overwhelming. They do not shy away from saucing their rolls, which I like! But could be a bit overwhelming. Some of my favorite rolls included: - Long horn - Casanova - Black Jack - Ex-Girlfriend Everything we ordered was so good!! Since we did AYCE, I'm pretty sure we ordered more than 10 plates, including some of their sashimi options. Service (5/5): it was fair, they did what had to be done, not many complaints. Ambiance (4/5): Overall it was fine, but could've benefitted from more space, to be fair though it is a "hole in the wall" restaurant. However, be prepared to wait for a while. Final verdict: It's not the best quality sushi but for the price, I feel like it was a worth it & I'd definitely come back!

Note: this is a review for a la carte, not AYCE. Funny enough, a lot of sushi spots in the downtown area are closed around 3pm, so we went to the one spot that was open. I gotta say, from the outside, this street has a little bit of a run-down feel. We didn't have the highest of expectations coming in. But Sushi Junai did meet those expectations. Their flavors are on-point. We ordered the Cucumber Passion, Ex-Girlfriend, and Casanova sushi rolls as well as the Monkey Brain appetizer. Everything tasted great but I would say the Cucumber Passion was the best of the bunch. My suggestion: consider this as a strong "budget" option if you're craving sushi rolls. A specialty roll costs roughly $13-14, which sadly is quite a bargain in today's economy. Their sauces are tasty but you will notice that the fish cuts maaaay just be a bit thinner than some other spots. You get what you pay for! I will say that their menu is somewhat dizzying - there are just too many roll options. I think the owners could benefit from consolidating some choices and improving their menu with photos.

One of our go -to places while in Austin. The sushi is absolutely amazing. I love the vibe. It is definitely a business that needs all the recognition. We always get great service & amazing food! It's a must while in Austin especially if you are visiting the capitol. It is close by! The price is well worth it as well. We personally choose to pay per roll

I love me some sushi and enjoy the all you can eat sushi for a set price as it gets me out of my bubble to try new things without breaking the bank. We came on a Friday evening and luckly got sat right away at one of the last tables available. Our server was great and checked on us in a timely manor, food came out quick and the entire meal was right. We started with the spicy garlic edamame which blows any other out of the water I can truly say it's the best around, that I have had at least. - 5/5 The mushroom caps were great, baked mushroom with crab mix and cheese baked inside, they dynamite is also tasty and pretty mush the same thing just add scallops and onions. Both 5/5 I was kind of disappointed in the black Jack roll but have previously enjoyed it at the north locations.3.5/5 The peppered tuna was okay 4/5 but I did not care for the hamachi tuna. 2/5 The monkey brain is basically a tempura fried mushroom cap with some sauces on top- we really enjoyed 5/5. Who's your ex wife was deep fried jalapeño- 5/5 Hot night roll wasn't great either didn't have the spice I was looking for 2/5. Ty ai poke was great, fish seemed pretty fresh 4.5/5 Tuna taco was a tostada and I'd give it 3/5. Affagato tasted like hot chocolate, not espresso but the I cream was tasty 3/5 If your looking for the best bang for your buck this place is a solid go to but seems I enjoy the appetizers much more then the actual rolls , so there's that. Space is pretty small about 15 tables in total.

Amazing ayce sushi spot near UT campus!! Service is great, and the resraurant and casual and clean! We ordered multiple rounds of food. Really loved the nigiri! The fish was fresh, and each piece was pretty big! The rolls were also fantastic and filling! For dessert, we got strawberry and green tea mochi with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle! They were super nice to cute them into fourths since we had a large group and wanted to share!

Would give the food 3 stars but overall with price considered it scrapes by 4. The fish quality is ok. You could easily get better quality at some Japanese grocery. However if you get the all you can eat AND come hungry then this place is great. Tons of variety for you to try.

Great atmosphere and convenient to the campus and downtown hotels. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I tried the red devil and was surprised by the quality of the tuna and taste. The staff is very friendly and I will definitely come back on the next trip

AYCE sushi at Sushi Junai made me so happy. I've ordered a la carte here before, but the AYCE lunch deal is worth it if you are capable of eating more than $28 worth of food. This is what I ordered: Ex girlfriend: $15.50, good shrimp tempura, one of my favourites. Final destination: $15.50, very good. Sashimi special: $14.95, some solid sashimi pieces. Who's your daddy?: $13.95, good tempura roll. Salmon holic: $14.50, didn't like the spicy sauce. Too much sauce. Total would-be cost: $74.40 This was such a good deal, and the sushi was delicious! Great service too. I was ordering pretty frequently.

Good deal - especially the lunch special. Got the 2 rolls deal with miso soup. The soup was warm and hearty especially on a cold day. The Ex Girlfriend Special Roll was incredible. I would definitely recommend. The crunchiness of the tempura balanced with the soft crab and it melted together for a perfect bite. The JJ roll was also good, but not as flavorful as I would have liked. Would not get it a second time. Also tried the mango mochi but honestly $5 for 2 mochi pieces is steep.

The intimate, speakeasy setting is such a vibe! Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. The service was stellar and they were easy to book on OpenTable I also tried the green tea mocktail and found it to be light and refreshing and I was happy that it wasn't super sweet My two favorite items were: 1. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. We could see the bar and in the kitchen area from where we were seated to observe the chefs preparing the dishes. Started the meal with the lychee spritz cocktail with lemongrass, lemon, sparkling wine. It was so light and bubbly and had a decorative flower for a delicate presentation. I ended up ordering two more! We came during happy hour which is available on the weekend and sampled all the happy hour market fish which luckily featured 4 different selections including madai or Japanese sea bream that is my favorite. Tried several other dishes including: *gyudon with wagyu, crispy rice, pomegranate. *grilled romaine hand roll with crab edamame-jalapeño *snow crab gunkan calabrian chili, fried leeks, *broccoli katsu with chili aioli The daily specials are worth exploring, and I always recommend asking your server for guidance. They know the menu well and genuinely elevate the experience. Ordered my regular "go-to" dishes including: *hirame usuzukuri thinly-sliced flounder, candied quinoa, olive oil *ebi shrimp tempura *kabocha japanese pumpkin tempura *zero sen roll yellowtail, avocado, shallot, cilantro The fish quality is exceptional. Fresh, clean, buttery, and beautifully presented. I didn't even start eating sushi until discovering Uchi. The balance of flavors is what stands out most to me. Every dish is thoughtfully curated. I especially appreciate how they layer texture and temperature so each bite feels composed. The best example of this is the biendo roll with tempura shrimp spring roll, nuoc mam, red grape. The grape on top is chilled and it has texture from the crispy shrimp tempura. Their sauces are definitely where it's at and complement each dish exquisitely. I usually hoard all the sauces until the end of the meal. The chef made a special lobster dish with coconut curry, negi dare, cashew that was complementary. The green curry sauce that tasted like Thai tom kha with fresh herbs for a flavor explosion. The server recommended the warm banana cake with chicory, buckwheat, white coffee kahlua ice cream for my birthday dessert. Although I am not a fan of coffee, this dessert was amazing with the perfect balance of sweet and savory and great texture. Uchi manages to feel refined but still warm and inviting. It's a place I return to for celebrations, but also when I just want a meal that feels thoughtfully executed from start to finish.
