I thought this was going to be a sit down take your time establishment. After walking in and observing the layout, it has traditional sushi vibes but this was built for speed. Not too crazy about having sushi done in 3.5 minutes. It was good I did ask for a lot less sauce than I observed from the patrons around me. For some reason people want all raw products doused in sauce. I'm more of the traditionalist. Note: this is a review for a la carte, not AYCE. Funny enough, a lot of sushi spots in the downtown area are closed around 3pm, so we went to the one spot that was open. I gotta say, from the outside, this street has a little bit of a run-down feel. We didn't have the highest of expectations coming in. But Sushi Junai did meet those expectations. Their flavors are on-point. We ordered the Cucumber Passion, Ex-Girlfriend, and Casanova sushi rolls as well as the Monkey Brain appetizer. Everything tasted great but I would say the Cucumber Passion was the best of the bunch. My suggestion: consider this as a strong "budget" option if you're craving sushi rolls. A specialty roll costs roughly $13-14, which sadly is quite a bargain in today's economy. Their sauces are tasty but you will notice that the fish cuts maaaay just be a bit thinner than some other spots. You get what you pay for! I will say that their menu is somewhat dizzying - there are just too many roll options. We came on a Friday evening and luckly got sat right away at one of the last tables available. Both 5/5 I was kind of disappointed in the black Jack roll but have previously enjoyed it at the north locations.3.5/5 The peppered tuna was okay 4/5 but I did not care for the hamachi tuna. 2/5 The monkey brain is basically a tempura fried mushroom cap with some sauces on top- we really enjoyed 5/5. Overall, I would say my friend and I had a good experience at Sushi Junai. The all you can eat sushi dinner special was a fair price and we definitely got our moneys worth. I forgot to take picture of a bunch of the stuff we ordered but I would recommend getting the monkey brain as an appetizer and would advise you stay away from the roll I took a picture of that is wrapped in seaweed. I believe it was raw octopus that had wasabi on it. I couldn't do the texture and I'm not a picky eater lol. I would also say to maybe skip the ice brownie. I have never written a review before but tonight really left me so appalled that I have to say something. I understand things like this happen but the lack of accountability and accommodation is not okay. My boyfriend literally bit into a piece of glass that was in the chicken fried rice. After we said something, they gave us a new fried rice without asking or even addressing the problem. No manager was on shift and our server texted them. The server says their response was "we'll talk to the kitchen guys" uhm okay what about us? The server even said that something like this has happened before and the manager didn't do anything about it. Concerning that this is a reoccurring problem and managers don't care to take action or even be at the restaurant. Crazy work. Well that was disappointing. I was browsing sushi joints on UberEATS and saw great reviews on Yelp for Sushi Junai Omakase. I ordered, and then found out that that business and Sushi Junai are apparently two totally different businesses. Wanted to be pleasantly surprised when the food arrived but I wasn't. It was clear from the get-go that this restaurant doesn't put a lot of care into my sushi. Sushi rice was smeared on top of the rolls, which I found out weren't even cut 100%, so when I picked up a piece it was still attached to the next piece. They threw in a couple of packets of soy sauce and no plastic ramekin to mix with the wasabi. I had to use a lid as a makeshift soy container. The rolls themselves were just ok. The fish to rice ratio was way off, and it was just a boring, almost grocery store like sushi experience. I had their one no-rice roll that came with a sauce, and I ended up using the sauce on the rest of my maki to make it edible. Ate four rolls no problem, whereas I usually order four rolls from my usual spot and can't finish it. Again, my own fault for not being thorough enough in my searching. If you want great sushi, check my reviews and you'll see the one I'm a fan of. None of these issues and basically the same price point. read more

We went on a Saturday night and did the all you can eat option. We had no wait for three people and most of the food was pretty good. I would pass on the poke, monkey brain, and spicy Asian salad. The poke was okay, I wish it came with something other than fish and the sauce it had was mediocre. The monkey brain had too much mushroom and too little filling, and the salad was just lettuce and some hot sauce. Other than that, I really liked the tuna firecracker and rolls. When a friend mentioned us going to an "All-You-Can-Eat" Sushi restaurant, I was excited, and nervous all at the same time! I mean who doesn't love sushi and wants to eat it ALL?!?! But then I'm like "dude, can I even eat that much?" "is it fresh?" "is this really a good idea"?!?! Well I will help you out with all those questions by saying: 1) They make it fresh as you order, so no this is not a sushi buffet 2) And YES it's a good idea! So it's a very small space, so if you're going to go, you probably want to get there earlier than you actually want to eat. Luckily, I just saw on Yelp, that they have a live waitlist so you can gauge the time frame for your wait. So it is a bit pricey for the All you can eat deal, $40 for dinner and I think $32 or so for lunch. Definitely would come for lunch if possible just to save. However, it's great if you get even just 2-3 rolls, you'll get your money's worth. Most of the sushi comes in pieces of 8 so keep that in mind. I literally had to starve myself for the day to prep for this....haha! It worked though, I like that they offer literally everything on the menu as part of the deal, so you can get an appetizer, sushi, and dessert even as part of the deal. So I did just that. Started with a seaweed salad Rolls: Baked Roll: Mountain (wasn't really a fan, it was okay, but not my fav) Sushi Rolls: Ex Girlfriend and Final Desination Roll (both were delicious, definitely would get them again)! Dessert: The Green Tea Mochi Ice Cream I definitely enjoyed my rolls, and did leave just a few on the table, they do charge you regardless of whether or not you finish your rolls, so come with your appetite ready. Luckily for me, I had a bunch of hungry men in the group, who took advantage of my smaller appetite and finished them for me. LoL! I also got to try a few of the other rolls that they ordered, but couldn't remember them all. The only things ordered between our group that we had complaints on and weren't fans of were: 1) Die Hard Roll (it was literally just doused in Sriracha sauce, so it was spicy sure, but had NO taste outside of the sauce) and 2) The Avocado salad...was good, but had alot of avocado on it. Now normally wouldn't be a complaint, but it will fill you up quickly if you're trying to do the all you cant eat, so just keep that in mind. Heard it was a good salad though, just couldn't finish it if you wanted to eat other things. I don't know if all you can eat is the ONLY option, or if you can order a-la-carte as well.
