I was excited to try this place because I love sushi. The concept is all omakase style at different price points. I ordered the signature omakase and I feel that it's a pretty decent deal for the price. They start you off with the Sunomono Salad. This salad was decent, but a little sour. I'd lighten up on the dressing. The tuna sashimi was pretty solid too. Every bite was delish and the staff were super friendly. There is a parking garage where you can get it validated so it's free. There's also street parking if you're lucky. The area is pretty nice too.

I highly recommend this place! It's a delicious Omakase place that offers 4 great tasting menus based upon preference and how hungry you are. It also has an à la carte menu. We chose the signature and executive tasting menus. I was completely satisfied with the signature whereas my husband received a few extra pieces of sushi with his executive. Everything was so good and creative, the fish melted in your mouth. Service was outstanding! You can dress it up for date night or come in more casual. Don't hesitate, just go!

THE BIG: Finally happy that there is a North Austin location! Located in The Grove, this sushi spot is ultra modern but with warm wooden tones. Plenty of seating inside and parking is either street or in the garage. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with a co worker to catch up when he was visiting from Canada. When we got in here around 2pm, the place was dead. We were the only people inside. Granted it was past the lunch rush. We ordered two omakases which is affordably priced and has 8 tastings. It first started off with the sunomono salad, before going into our first tuna sashimi piece. Then we had two yellowtail and salmon nigiris. Then we had our toro handroll which was the best bite in my opinion. Then we wrapped up with the albacore, akami and salmon hand roll. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall, the damage done here was around $90 for two normal omakases. Very affordable sushi and fresh.

Tancho was bright and modern inside. Very wooden and Japanese feeling. The service was great and they easily accommodated a 10 month old and have changing stations on the bathroom. The food was delicious and the omakase was filling enough for me.

My experience at Tancho- Grove was great! It's a dimly lit spot that seems excellent for a date night. The food came out quickly and each item was explained to us. This is an omakase restaurant with a few a la carte options. They're very reasonably priced for it being omakase- the standard menu is about $41 and the lighter menu is $31. Drinks were reasonably priced as well. Drink options are limited to beer, wine and sake. I opted for the standard menu and enjoyed each option that was brought out. I wish I had been hungrier so that I may have tried more options. I will definitely be back!

A special shoutout to Asher, who made the experience even better. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, checking on us throughout the meal and making sure everything was perfect. His service truly stood out and made us feel welcomed from start to finish. The atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable, and the quality of both the food and service was exceptional. Tancho has easily become one of our favorite sushi spots in Austin, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommend asking for Asher if you visit!

My husband got me the Omakase to go and I loved it! Presentation is top notched with sauces, sushi, nigiri, salad and sashimi all nicely separated. The fish was very fresh even an hour after. It comes with chopsticks, napkins and instructions for how to enjoy every bite. Only hard part was pacing myself to make the box last!

As soon as you walk inside Tancho, you can notice the ambiance sets the mood for a romantic date night. Service was impeccable even though they are a non-tipping restaurant. We shared the Grand Omakase and added another second sunomono salad, the sea bream nigiri, the unagi nigiri and the baked crab roll from the specials. I had two glasses of the Chardonnay and shared a bottle of sake. I would recommend Tancho to anyone looking for an intimate sushi dinner spot.

    Yellowtail roll

First time trying Tancho, pro- it was ready fast. Con- it is mostly jalepeno, with some minced up fish. I would call this a jalapeño roll. It's pretty bad, and a really cheap way for them to make a roll.

This protein to rice ratio is unbelievable

Ordered omakase take out and the freshness was lacking unfortunately. The roll provided was 80% rice 20% yellowtail which was not fresh

Fish is excellent, service friendly. Thumping bass of the music was really loud and annoying. 3.75 stars, because that really detracts.

Overpriced for supermarket grade sushi. Rice not correctly stick and packed in nigiri pieces, cuts of sushi are thinned out.

This is a small food truck with only one person working in it, so be patient but the churros are definitely worth the wait. Service was friendly! I got the Matcha-Cha off the seasonal menu, which had a great balance of matcha flavor and lightly sweet strawberry ice cream. The roasted walnuts added a really nice break in texture, which I loved. My husband ordered the Campfire with added ice cream, which was rich and very chocolaty. The charred marshmallow on top was a great touch and made it extra indulgent. Overall, a great late night dessert stop with solid flavors and friendly service. Definitely worth checking out when you're craving something sweet!

I was craving Ube and might have gone a bit overboard on ordering dessert because they had so many Ube options. The building is colorful and decorated in bright pink with fun artwork and decor for an uplifting vibe. The line moved quickly and the service was friendly fast and efficient. I was able to place my order and pay with Apple Pay. I ordered the Taiyaki Sundae with black sesame and ube swirl soft serve served in a fish shaped mochi Belgian style waffle with Oreo dust on top. You can customize your sundae with filling like organic red sweet beans, Nutella or custard and toppings like Oreo dust, fruity pebbles or rainbow sprinkles. I ate this on site and the nutty black sesame balanced the sweet ube perfectly, and the Oreo topping added the best crunch. They had a variety of mochi donut flavors. Lucky for me, nothing was sold out today. I ordered the Oreo ube mochi donut and ube milk tea to-go. I ate the mochi donut later that day and it was probably my least favorite item from my order. It had the chewy mochi texture however I didn't get enough of the rich ube flavor. It had somewhat of a bitter aftertaste and the Oreo overpowered the ube. I drank the ube milk tea the next day and it was creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the beverage and would order it again. Overall, enjoyed my selections and will be back to try more dessert options and flavors from one of the most unique Asian dessert spots in Austin!

The staff were friendly when we got our drinks, but the exchange was brief. The space, though, is super Instagrammable with lots of playful decor. Parking is a little tight out front, with some extra spots along the side street. I ordered the crème brûlée taro milk tea with boba, and my husband got the regular crème brûlée milk tea with boba. Flavor-wise it was good, but my drink had a lot happening texture-wise. Between the crystallized sugar, grainy taro, and boba, it caught me by surprise. Even so, the ambience seems like the decorations were cute, but very cheap and damaged overtime with little to no repairs. But I didn't come here for aesthetics. I came here for great Boba tea and sweet treats. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. What looked like a traditional milk toast dessert, was literally four pieces of stale bread, toasted and stacked on top of each other. that tasted freezer burnt with lots of sauce on top. No topping between each layer so it was not flavorful or tasty and all you could taste was a weird chemical flavor from the bread. Same thing with the ice cream, so freezer burnt that it tasted of chemicals, cardboard, and didn't even melt despite sitting on the plate for 15+ minutes. The Taro tea itself was fine with the crème brûlée topping, but the brown sugar Boba had the same chemical "going bad" flavor to it. It was super hard and bitter tasting instead of sweet. The soufflé pancakes were fine, but the ice cream was terrible on that too. It's hard to mess up Ice Cream, but somehow they managed.
