WOW, I was really impressed with this place. I came here honestly not really expecting the level of sushi that I got. The Toro and Santa Barbara Uni were noticeably just so high quality. The uni was a vibrant orange. I was talking with my friend when I first took a bite of the Toro, and literally had to pause the conversation with how surprised I was by its texture, truly feeling like a piece of Wagyu. It was overall just so much sashimi as well for the $42 price tag -- you could honestly split it with someone. They also had a gluten-free menu and provided gluten-free tamari, which was appreciated.

I always enjoy eating at Uchi Umi Sushi. They have a lot to offer from Sashimi to bentos, katsu, tempura, soups and salads. They have a bar for Sashimi as well as alcohol. The service is polite and timely. The food is clean and presented well, as is Japan. Their bathrooms are some of the best smelling bathrooms I have been into. Go wash your hands just to experience the smells. So whether it be Nigiri or rolls, or some saki...stop by Uchi Umi Sushi for the experience.

Stopped by Ichi Umi Sushi for lunch...ordered avocado roll "to go". My order was ready when I arrived. My avocado roll was delicious! It had fresh pieces of avocado and sharply cut. The brown rice in it's raw unbleached state. I was surcharged $2 for the brown rice. For those rice lovers, brown rice takes longer to cook, which is likely the reason for the upcharge. There were no customers visible from the front. Overall, very chill vibe..

Came here for a birthday and we had the best time! The table we reserved was ready when we got there. The Apple and lychee martini were great. We ordered things like the tuna tower (amazing), California roll and vegetable tempura (which was also amazing)! Apparently they have an early happy hour too. Our waitress was also great! You could tell she was busy and running around but we had a great experience and for a lot of people, she did great! The inside wasnt super decorated but it was clean and had a lot of tables. I will definitely be back!

HINOKAMI KAGURA! After watching the demon slayer infinity castle movie with good ol Daniel Shen (Daniel^2), I was inspired to get more in touch with Japanese culture. What better place to do so than at Ichi Umi Sushi! I came here with Daniel Jung (Daniel^3??) Well, anyways, I almost cried after the first bite. Cried from grief and pain. How could anyone possibly live without having tried the Sashimi bibimbap, or the Nagasaki Champon Udon, or the Chicken Karaage?!? The portions were so amazing, and the flavors brought me flashbacks to the time I was watching tanjiro eat some good noodles in the entertainment district before meeting up with zenitsu and inosuke. After this meal, I can confidently say, I WILL DEFEND JAPANESE CUISINE WITH MY LIFE!!! IT'S MUZAN!!! I WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY! NOT THIS TIME! Service was also amazing!

Ichi Umi Sushi was such a pleasant surprise! The ambiance is modern, cozy, and welcoming -- perfect for a relaxed dinner or casual date night. The staff were absolutely wonderful -- super attentive, kind, and made the whole experience feel personal and easygoing. The food was really good and felt like a great deal for the quality. We got the Sake Toro Bento and the Nagasaki Champong Udon. The fish was fresh and nicely presented, and everything came out quickly. A standout for me was the Nagasaki Champong Udon -- it had that deep, satisfying umami broth that beautifully blended the flavors of Japanese udon and Korean seafood jjamppong. Bonus: it had a good amount of seafood and could easily feed two! Overall, Ichi Umi Sushi hits the sweet spot between great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd come back to again.

Love the dim atmosphere, perfect for date night but not ideal for that perfect foodie shot! Flash camera needed for sure! Service was 100, attentive and friendly. Yum yum roll, spicy tuna and wildflower rolls were a hit for us! The yum yum roll had a nice tropical flavors from the pineapple and mango. Their sashimi is pretty fresh and we love their Waygu Nigiri which is torched and brushed with a hint of sweet sauce. Price point is kind of steep but it's good quality sushi and I would come back again for date night any time!

Nice sushi spot tucked near the Arboretum/Gateway. It's next to Simar, and kind of hidden from the highway. Quiet ambiance, but delicious sushi. Friendly and quick service on a Wed evening. We ordered the Crimson Baby, spicy salmon and Lucky rolls. Also ordered some uni, A5 Wagyu, king salmon and Otoro to try out. The Wagyu was a touch too done for me, but it was ok. Otoro, uni and king salmon were top notch! It looks like they might have a decent HH as well worth while to check out!

I dream of the chirashi bowl from here, it is THE BOMB. The portion is generous and well worth the price tag and the seafood in it is always super fresh. When I'm in town I make sure to stop at Ichi Umi just for the chirashi bowl at least once. This place is popular but the service is always good and friendly. I've also stopped by for lunch and their lunch specials are also a great deal. Def make a stop here if you're a sushi lover, you won't regret it!

Food and Service were amazing as always. This time we shared an ahi tower, tempura udon bowl, smoked salmon belly, uni from Japan, and the mango mochi

Consistently good sushi across the multiple dishes that we ordered, including hamachi, o toro, A5 wagyu, kaisen don, and the Mopac roll. The selection and variety of dishes/rolls is great, and the portion sizes/value are decent.

We stopped by for dinner during the week with some friends for sushi and had a good time! They have a very large menu with options for everyone - not just sushi! My husband and I shared some gyoza and Brussels sprouts - both delicious but the sprouts were much better! We also shared some nigiri - tuna / yellowtail / salmon The nigiri was pretty good but wish the cuts of fish were a little cleaner Service was great - food came out quickly and refilled water and drinks often Plenty of indoor seating and parking available as well - cute indoor decor

My wife and I went back to Ichi Umi Sushi, formerly known as Haru, while visiting family during the holidays and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience. When this place was Haru it was hands down our favorite sushi spot in Austin. We craved it constantly and talked about it even after moving to California. The rolls were always flavorful well balanced and memorable which made this return visit something we were genuinely excited about. Right away the menu felt overwhelming. It used to be simple and now it is extremely long and difficult to navigate. But the bigger issue was the food. We ordered several of our old favorites including the Wildflower, Black Widow, Crush on You, Foxy Lady, and Redwood rolls. The Redwood and Foxy Lady were okay but still not what we remembered. The rolls were noticeably smaller than before and lacked the depth of flavor they once had. The Black Widow, Wildflower, and Crush on You were the biggest letdowns. The sauces and spicy mayo were overpowering and in some bites overly spicy to the point where you could barely taste the fish. The balance that made these rolls special before just was not there. The Wildflower in particular used to be incredible with its mix of mango tuna salmon soybean paper and orange miso sauce. This time it completely fell flat. The Crush on You was inconsistent from bite to bite with either no goat cheese or too much of it dominating the roll. I am not sure if ownership changed or if something else happened but this no longer feels like the Haru we loved. That was honestly the hardest part. This place held a lot of great memories for us and it was disappointing to see such a drop in quality. I hope they can find their way back to what made this spot special because it truly used to be one of the best sushi spots in Austin. Unfortunately this visit just missed the mark for us.

When we finally sat down at a regular table, we waited about 15 minutes without a server coming by. I eventually flagged a server down, and we got our order under way. We requested the manager stop by to tell him about the issue with the reservation and the fact that his hostess needs additional training, and surprise, the manager was also not helpful. He did apologize for our reservation being lost, but blamed it on the system and denied any responsibility for taking care of it - basically just told us that "life is life". He did not offer a discount or any kind of relief for the setbacks or bad service. I wasn't expecting the world or anything, but good hospitality dictates that you do more that basically tell us to just deal with it. For the food: the sushi was pretty gnarly - it looked like somebody was angry at the fish when they were slicing. Most things needed salt. Steak and fried rice was good, but the vegetables were pretty much raw. I can forgive quite a bit when it comes to service, especially on graduation/mother's day weekend. But honestly I'm a little impressed at how little the entire staff cared about their guests.

I paid $21 for the bacon wrapped chicken which includes the unlimited gourmet salad bar and the refillable sides of pao de queijo, crispy polenta, garlic mashed potatoes, and caramelized bananas... that is a STEAL (especially compared to other Brazilian steakhouses). Usually the chicken tends to be overcooked and dry at Brazilian steakhouses from my experience but these pieces were moist and so flavorful from the bacon! It came with 4 pieces which were probably around 1.5 ounces each (6 ounces total). The sides were plentiful and the servers continually refilled them as needed... all of the sides came out hot and fresh. The salad bar was clean and has tons of items to choose from. There are multiple salad options, fresh vegetables, chicken salad, waldorf salad, tabouli, chickpea salad, cheeses, rice, beans, chicken alfredo pasta, potatoes, and beef soup. I honestly have zero complaints and would LOVE to come back and experience the executive lunch again in the future! That was really disappointing. When I went inside the store to buy some regular items instead, the interaction with the owner was also frustrating. He seemed to misunderstand what I was asking and kept directing me to stand in the pop-up line, even though I explained multiple times that I just wanted to purchase items from the store, which didn't require waiting in that line. In the end, I bought a few small items, but three small items came out to about $20, which felt overpriced for what I received. The overall service experience was not pleasant. The owner came across as rude and unwelcoming, and it didn't feel like customers who made the effort to come support the business were being valued. I understand this is a small, local mom-and-pop shop, and I usually love supporting small businesses. However, customer service still matters--especially when people travel a long distance to visit. Because of this experience, I probably won't be returning unless it's for a pop-up event.

All through my time there, lines would form of up to six people with no one around to take their orders. Lots of noise in the back, nothing going upfront. Once my order was ready, I asked for someone to carry my tray to my table, as I am mobility impaired. Would you believe the woman behind the counter argued with me that they didn't have to do that? But finally a young man behind the counter walked up and helped me. What kind of place would hassle me over that? It is visually obvious that I am disabled. So rude and inconsiderate!! I had the bowl of squash soup I had was a surprise. It was a sweet soup, not a savory one. It was good, once I got used to the idea. Still, I wished that it had said something about that on the menu. But I had another surprise coming,, there was a chunk of chicken at the bottom of my bowl. Clearly carelessness on their part, good thing I'm not a vegetarian. My friend's mac and bacon soup was noticeably low on bacon. They forgot it at first, and when he reminded them he saw the woman behind the counter measure it out with a tiny scoop. Is this what you get for $8.00? I guess so. I still have credit on my gift card. I think I will try a Panera further from me next time. I hope they are better than this one.
