Came here for a friend's bday, there was 11 of us. We sat at the japanese tables where you sit on the floor with no shoes on and it was nice to have our own private space. Unfortunately the service was extremely slow. We didn't get waters until 15-20mins after we sat down and no one came to check up on us. We all ordered food and whats great is that our orders wasnt messed up but it took forever for all of our food to come out. One of our plates didnt come out until most of us were finished with our food. The food wasn't very authentic but they do have a big menu. The raw salmon sashimi was very fresh! I got the yakisoba and it was okay, nothing too special

I can always appreciate a low-key sushi spot. Prices were reasonable for the quality, although not the best sushi in town, but definitely good enough! The baby octopus was the highlight: aromatic with a perfect smoky flavor. Nigiri was solid, especially the fatty salmon, and the fried rolls were great. The other rolls were just okay. Service was excellent, super sweet staff and a spacious, welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes :)

We've been going to Ichiban for years and, as locals, is part of our sushi circuit. Flavors are always solid, sake is fresh and reasonably priced, and service is always attentive. We enjoyed the "traditional" seating this last time. Quality is matched by the price - you're not getting Suchi but you're certainly not paying for it either! Always a solid bet, Thanks!

I thought I had given this place a review, but it appears this is my first. I have enjoyed my dining experience each time I have eaten here. The service is always excellent and the dining room reminds me of Japanese Restaurants that I visited in Okinawa. It has a sushi bar, tables with chairs as well as tables to sit on the floor (traditional). I ordered Poke (Tuna) this time. The dish was large and loaded with Tuna, caviar, veggies and rice. A great deal for the cost.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in town! The service is always excellent, and the variety of seating is a huge plus. They have foor seating with cushions in elevated areas where no shoes are allowed! A very cozy and casual feel! Ordered some maki rolls and a few hand rolls! The unagi hand roll was fantastic with lots of eel! The salmon roll was tasty and fresh. Will have to come back and try more items off the menu

An overdue review. I have been here 3-4 times and the food is always amazing. The fish is fresh. Sushi roll is well seasoned

I stopped by for lunch and this place was so good. I will be back. The restaurant is clean and the service is good. I do recommend this place if you are looking for good sushi.

For starters, we randomly found this spot on Google Maps and took a chance on it and we were pleasantly surprised. Ambiance: - Love the interior design and the koi fish ponds leading into the restaurant - There are a few tables that follow traditional Japanese dining seating so you take off your shoes and sit on a matt, this section had a ton of privacy and space! It feels way more intimate and comfortable than a regular table, just go with friends without stinky feet. Food: Honestly, given the price point, I really enjoyed what we got. It definitely is one of the better $/$$ sushi restaurants in Austin and I appreciate the variety of menu options. - I got the Tempura Udon, it was really savory and refreshing and not too heavy at all. The tempuras were potato, carrots, and shrimp which were all very yum. The portion size was pretty great too. - We also got the Ichiban roll which was alright. We weren't the most impressed with it. Service: - Overall - the service was pretty great. It did take a while for the staff to take our orders just because we were a bit more secluded. But they were super friendly and sweet the entire time!

I was skeptical at first when seeing the restaurant from across the street but I got it all wrong when dining here, it is actually great! It took me a while to look up the sushi restaurants around to find the one offering simple sake sashimi (salmon) and this one popped up that surprised me. When looking into the menu, I was totally sold! The variety is amazing, and the ambiance is also good. Food it fresh and not overpriced, we definitely got a good time and will come back. Parking can be tricky during dinner time because they are packed, but not a big problem. No reservation needed, we waited for 10min and got seated very quickly.

Sake Don (Lunch)... so delicious, behind leaf is a nice portion of rice and seaweed salad.

Still love this place! I've been able to get there for lunch recently and I'm becoming more adventurous when ordering. This last time I got Sake Don for lunch, miso soup included. Great price, cozy place to relax and read, friendly staff. And clean restrooms!

Hidden behind a bookcase tucked away in Holey Moley, Chef Saine and his small team bring you an incredible 14-course experience with top-tier ingredients sourced directly from local farmers in Japan. With only 6 seats per session, this is a cozy experience and one I definitely could not recommend more. QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, located in East Austin, there is plenty of street parking. - Reservations can be tricky to land, but you can grab weeknight ones if you're flexible. - Pricing is about $170/person, with the option to add on drinks and extra bites (3 extra for $45/person). Tax and tip not included. My favorite bites were the maguro blue fin (an incredible start to the night!), the buttery Kanpachi amberjack, and the Wagyu ribeye with salted egg yolk (steak and eggs). Everything is stellar, and the Belgium chocolate ice cream finish with a little serenading from Chef is a great way to wrap up the experience. Service is top notch!

Both of the sandos were perfect. The wagyu beef sando had a little bit more flavor but it was slight and both are worth trying. The Edamame - which were charred in a way that I feel like I've never experienced it before and had such great flavor. 2. The scallop roll had a thinly sliced shaved truffle on top that made the roll simple yet out of this world. Shout out to the manager who came by just to check in. Parking can be a challenge but they do offer a valet service. The entire party must be present before you can be seated. We were seated in the main dining area across from the bar. There was a happy birthday fish card on the table to acknowledge the special occasion that was very thoughtful. We were approached by the staff quickly they pace your dining experience. We could see the bar and in the kitchen area from where we were seated to observe the chefs preparing the dishes. Started the meal with the lychee spritz cocktail with lemongrass, lemon, sparkling wine. It was so light and bubbly and had a decorative flower for a delicate presentation. I ended up ordering two more! We came during happy hour which is available on the weekend and sampled all the happy hour market fish which luckily featured 4 different selections including madai or Japanese sea bream that is my favorite. Tried several other dishes including: *gyudon with wagyu, crispy rice, pomegranate. *grilled romaine hand roll with crab edamame-jalapeño *snow crab gunkan calabrian chili, fried leeks, *broccoli katsu with chili aioli The daily specials are worth exploring, and I always recommend asking your server for guidance. They know the menu well and genuinely elevate the experience. Ordered my regular "go-to" dishes including: *hirame usuzukuri thinly-sliced flounder, candied quinoa, olive oil *ebi shrimp tempura *kabocha japanese pumpkin tempura *zero sen roll yellowtail, avocado, shallot, cilantro The fish quality is exceptional. Fresh, clean, buttery, and beautifully presented. I didn't even start eating sushi until discovering Uchi. The balance of flavors is what stands out most to me. Every dish is thoughtfully curated. I especially appreciate how they layer texture and temperature so each bite feels composed. The best example of this is the biendo roll with tempura shrimp spring roll, nuoc mam, red grape. The grape on top is chilled and it has texture from the crispy shrimp tempura. Their sauces are definitely where it's at and complement each dish exquisitely. I usually hoard all the sauces until the end of the meal. The chef made a special lobster dish with coconut curry, negi dare, cashew that was complementary. The green curry sauce that tasted like Thai tom kha with fresh herbs for a flavor explosion. The server recommended the warm banana cake with chicory, buckwheat, white coffee kahlua ice cream for my birthday dessert. Although I am not a fan of coffee, this dessert was amazing with the perfect balance of sweet and savory and great texture. Uchi manages to feel refined but still warm and inviting. It's a place I return to for celebrations, but also when I just want a meal that feels thoughtfully executed from start to finish.
