Hanami AYCE today was by far the best experience me and my family had. This is our second time back & it was even better than the first. Let's start off with the good: Starting with food we were a huge fan of the crudos & the toro roll. The sizing of certain rolls changed around but that's okay. Still in the soft opening. Sashimi was fresh and pretty thick sliced compared to other AYCE, but the highlight was the blue fin tuna. Our waitress said it came straight from Japan so that's pretty dang neat. Amazing service from our waitress Brianna. Best waitress we've had from here. She was able to help me and my wife with celebrating our Mother's Day weekend together with the kids and made us feel special. We saw she had been busy with an overwhelming amount of tables so bless her for being so attentive. Now the bad: We were not a fan of the sexy roll there was too much rice not enough meat for that roll only. Our other rolls were great. Beer tastes like the lines might be dirty so be cautious there. There is a bunch of flies and gnats compared to our first time here hopefully that gets resolved soon or maybe next time we'll bring fans. Besides the great service, food was slow coming out. First AYCE sushi spot I've tried in a long time. Quite a few of these have been popping up recently and are great when you want some decent sushi without breaking the bank. Overall, the nigiri here were all pretty solid - good rice to fish ratio. The robata skewers (shrimp bacon I remember) were nice as well if you wanted something a little different. And the galbi is another hot food option I would recommend as well. Other than that, get your favorite sushi, try some of the crudo (I enjoyed the pepper tuna one), and grab a roll or two if you want to really fill yourself up! Across from 99 Ranch near crescent plaza this all you can eat sushi spot was pretty good. Service was great! Went on a Friday afternoon at 12pm, wasn't too busy we got seated immediately. It did start picking up midway thru. I really enjoyed the theme of the restaurant, great atmosphere. Our server was great, very attentive. My girlfriend and I have had a lot of sushi throughout Austin, including over seas in Japan. I would definitely give this place a try. We enjoyed our time, and the speediness of the food after we'd order. The all you can eat lunch menu has quite a bit of options. I do my best to rate a restaurant based on everything so I do give it a 5 star rating! However this is more of a subjective opinion. When it comes to the specialty rolls and the Crudo we chose, I'm not too fond of the Sriracha drops on some of the items we chose. It really takes away from the real flavors I'm seeking. Then again I avoid any roll that has cream cheese simply because I enjoy the actual flavor of the fish and it becomes way over powering. Again this is more of a subjective opinion, I love Sriracha, but just not on my rolls or sushi. I prefer for of a traditional spice with Wasabi. Over all it was a great time and well priced for the all you can eat. I did ask when they get busiest the most and of course it's on the weekends during dinner. Hanami AYCE Sushi is still in their "soft opening" phase but I'm optimistic that they can rise to the top of AYCE sushi places near Austin with some tweaks and improvements. Overall, the quality matches the price and the menu offerings have a good variety but the service and speed can be hit or miss. However, the servers are super friendly, the interior is stunning, and everything was very clean! FAST FACTS: * Parking - a few spots in front of the building but also garage parking nearby with 2 hours of free parking available * Reservations - available online through OpenTable * Online ordering - available for pickup on their website (a la carte only) SERVICE - We arrived at 7:40 pm for an 8:00 pm reservation and were told our table would be available in about 10-15 minutes. We were seated at 8:20 pm (40 minutes after arriving and 20 minutes after our reservation time). Our server was friendly, took our order quickly, and made sure to refill our waters during the meal. Finished plates were cleared from the table efficiently. Non-sushi items came out quickly (gyoza, takoyaki, mini tacos, noodles, etc. took 5-10 minutes after ordering) while sashimi and rolls took much longer (15-20 minutes after ordering). PRICING - The AYCE dinner is $36.95 for adults and includes all of the items on the menu with the exception of some extra charges for additional pieces wagyu, ama ebi, and bluefin tuna beyond the first order. The pricing is incredibly reasonable for the quality of ingredients... especially if you order lots of sashimi or rolls. ORDERING PROCESS - You can order 4 different items per person at a time (mostly due to table space) but multiple pieces of sashimi or nigiri count as a single item. Items come out as they are prepared and ready so I recommend ordering a mixture of appetizers/robata/mini tacos/soup/salad/noodles and sashimi/nigiri/rolls because the sashimi/nigiri/rolls take longer to prepare. We recently came to try out the newest AYCE sushi spot in town, but overall left desiring more. Our reservation was at 4PM on a Saturday because we didn't want to interfere with the dinner rush hour. The restaurant did not have a ton of customers yet but the overall service was still relatively slow. They might have been understaffed at the time because our waiter was saying how she just started her shift and walked into chaos lol. We ordered a total of 3 different rounds but every time we were finished with one round, we still did not see the waiter and essentially had to flag her down to put in our next order. Again, she was very friendly but I unfortunately expected more from the overall service. As for the food, I think the sashimi and crudo were some of my favorites! The crudo particularly had a tangy and savory sauce that complimented well with the fish. Their version of a taco was also interesting where the taco shell was made from the same ingredient as the crispy wonton strips you put into salads or egg drop soup. That being said, I did not like the batter that they used for the calamari -- it was too thick and didn't feel crispy enough. The beef short ribs (Galbi) had a nice flavor profile but half of the pieces were essentially fatty meat (and this was consistent because we ordered that dish 3 different times). To end on a positive note though, the price point was 5/5! I believe it was about $37/per person for dinner/weekend pricing for AYCE, which wasn't bad at all! I love the decor in this place! Our party of 5 was seated earlier than our reservation time which was nice because we were already starving upon already after a long drive. The service was shockingly fast! We were amazed at how quickly our dishes came from ordering to the table. The fish was fresh, flavorful and came out with awesome presentation. However, I do have to shave a star for them being out of several items on the menu especially since we came within the hour that they first opened, on a weekend, and on a holiday that we expected they would have everything available in preparation for the business on this day. Also, parking is free in the structure for the first 2 hours. The system was down briefly while we were trying to exit and we were trapped with several cars trying to leave for about 10mins. A new AYCE sushi joint that does not disappoint! Hanami keeps a high quality selection paired with great customer service. The Damon, yellow fish, tuna, and everything else was made to perfection. I'd also recommend a miso soup and some of the crudo options. Only thing we got that was a 4/5 was the Philly roll due to it having a bit too much cream cheese but aside from that everything was close to perfect! Seating and lighting were nice as you can see in my video. Very clean restaurant as well and the parking situation isn't terrible since there's a garage nearby. Overall a solid 4.5/5 but rounding up to 5 since there wasn't anything that would really make me rate it less than that. read more

Very nice restaurant. I walked in and it smelled wonderful and you should really come and try this place. Staff is very friendly and efficient. I came here to pick up... did not stay but it definitely looks like a date night kind of restaurant. It's intimate and has fair amount of seating. You should come early and make a reservation. We got sushi in addition to some other things. Galbi was very well flavored and the tonkatsu was good. Our 4 piece unagi took over 25 minutes and we had our server put it in again. To which it finally came out. When it did, it was fabulous and we ordered 8 more. The other items we ordered all came out in a timely manner. The only weird thing is they have a 4 piece limit (e.g. 1 nigiri counts as 1 piece, so 4 nigiri's at a time, finish that. THEN you can order again. Not as big a deal if you order rolls and apps) Aside from the snafu of our unagi taking a long time, we really enjoyed the experience. I rarely give out 5-star ratings, especially for All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) restaurants which almost always sacrifice food quality for volume. Hanami is the exception to the rule. After visiting during their soft opening, I knew the potential was there, and coming back now, they have truly dialed it in. The freshness of the fish here is superb. It is truly unheard of to find an AYCE spot that is this generous with sashimi. Most places either serve poor quality fish or force you to order nigiri just to fill you up on rice, but the salmon here is a personal favorite and consistently excellent. There are no heat lamps or buffet lines. Everything is prepared to order, including huge, full-sized rolls and incredible tempura fried veggies. They even offer unique perks like fried ice cream and unlimited mochi, while my kids specifically love the skewers. The lunch service was phenomenal, efficient, friendly, and observant. The owners are clearly attentive to the dining room, and the beautifully decorated space makes the experience feel high end rather than a typical high volume joint. Came here for lunch on a Sunday so I wasn't able to get the lunch AYCE pricing since the lunch pricing is only available on weekdays. However the dinner pricing is still under $40 so a pretty good deal for AYCE sushi. My friend and I were seated right away. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and delicious. My favorite sashimi was the blue fin tuna, yellowtail and tuna. My favorite roll was the monster roll. I only ordered two rolls cause I wanted to have more room to try everything. I would definitely recommend ordering only one roll to start cause the rolls have a ton of rice and comes with 8 pieces. As for the ambiance, I don't know if it's the place or the fact the people at the table next to us were so loud that we can barely hear each other talk. I have been here twice now, and both times did not disappoint. For the lunch price which is around $25, it is very reasonable. Their salmon sashimi is sliced thick and fresh, and other sashimi to recommend is probably the escolar and the tamago. Of the two rolls we ordered (crazy roll + hanami roll), the hanami was definitely the winner. We also enjoyed their green bean and king oyster robata skewers although the green bean could absolutely use less sauce, and the agedashi tofu appetizer was decent. What I wouldn't get again is probably the spicy sashimi salad, as well as most of their tempura items. We are not a fan of their batter, it's too heavy. There is limited parking in the outdoor lot and free 2hr parking in the garage. Inside the decor is modern, with low lights, and loud music. Lots of booths and tables with a sushi bar in the back. I arrived around 5:15 with a friend who pre ordered some items. Food that I ordered didn't come out until 6/6:30. Close to 7:15, we were still waiting on some rolls and I had to leave. What I did try was very good. Crudo and sashimi comes out fast and is SUPER FRESH. The Yellow Tail Collarbone is delish. I was able to try a few rolls that were also good. I came for the AYCE dinner option on a Wednesday and had a great experience. Not too many diners on a weeknight so we were seated promptly. Our service was great; the servers kept checking in on us and refilling our waters. We paced ourselves and got to try a little bit of everything. The sashimi pieces were excellent! They were very well portioned, fresh, and the presentation was pretty. We also tried other menu items like the galbi, sesame balls, crudo, and robata - all were pretty spot on. Lunch was $25.95 which is good price for good sashimi and ALL you can eat, except for some upcharges (ama ebi (fresh shrimp), bluefin tuna, and waygu beef sashimi). You can only order 4 items at a time but several of the same is considered 1 item. The sashimi fish was fresh, tender, and tasty - even though unevenly cut. There was a good assortment. Also had the tempura (veggies and shrimp both tasty though would have preferred a lighter batter), robata skewers (onion pork and garlic chicken. Beef was not tasty and tough), crudo (great morsels), handrolls (perfect option from heavier more filling rolls) - like the eel and avocado, salmon skin was a little heavy handed with the skin but tasted good), fried calamari was a miss. They were out of tempura ice cream, green tea ice cream was bizarre (not in a good way) but mochi was fantastic (mango and green tea) Service was fantastic (thank you, Lily), good decor, sound level, etc. Fortunately, we were able to get a parking space, but it might be better to park at the Crescent Shopping Center across Lamar and Airport Blvd. Appreciated that we could share dishes (unlike Sushi Warrior). Let's start with good... the food was really good but the service was bad, really bad. The waitress forgot to order half the orders, it took her forever to take our orders and the. Got half of them wrong. The food took forever to come, like 40 minutes per dish then the waitress would just disappear even though she had just 4 tables. None of the staff who served us the food could tell us what the food was, they just plopped the food down. On top of this I'm allergic to shellfish and told them this. One server brought me shrimp and I asked if they knew of my shellfish allergy and she looked and said oh we did sorry. I wouldn't recommend coming here based on our experience. When we arrived, we clearly asked for a table for four (even holding up four fingers), and the hostess told us the wait would be 30-45 minutes. We later received a message saying our table was ready, but when we checked in, the host seemed confused and said they thought we only needed a table for two. We were then told we'd have to wait another 30-40 minutes. Looking back, the confusion and extended wait should have been a red flag, and we probably should've gone to a different AYCE sushi spot. At that point, though, we had already been waiting, so we decided to stay. Once seated, the service didn't improve. It took about 20 minutes before our waiter came by, and even then, he didn't introduce himself or explain how the menu worked--he just dropped off water and disappeared for another 20 minutes. After placing our first order, the food arrived in about 10-15 minutes, which was fine, but after we finished, we waited another 20-25 minutes just to see our waiter again so we could place a second round. The same pattern repeated, and it became frustrating watching other tables receive more attentive service while we were left waiting. Eventually, we gave up and asked for the check. We were disappointed because we enjoy all-you-can-eat sushi, but after about an hour, we had only managed to order two rounds. We also never received a water refill. We ended up leaving still hungry, which made the whole experience feel like a waste of money. As for the food, it was average at best. The crudo was confusing, as it came with sriracha, which overpowered the flavor of the fish and sauce. One of the rolls fell apart when we picked it up, and the yellowtail sashimi didn't taste fresh--it seemed like it may have been previously frozen and thawed the same day. The restaurant itself felt cramped, with too many tables packed into a small space, making it difficult to move around. It was also uncomfortably cold and somewhat smoky inside. I am a little hesitant to dine at any seafood related eateries in Texas. I went to the soft opening last night with my husband and a group of our friends. Hanami was packed and the decor is modern yet comfortable. The pricing and the quality for an AYCE experience is fair and worth it. The manager delivered us a plate of sashimi and the slices are generous Texas size and impressively good quality. Our table was a bit heartbroken when we heard the Toro was sold out. We did our best to order a variety of food within the 2 hour time slot. With our meal we had an unfiltered slightly sweet and sour sake. My friend ordered the Dark Horse, it was a well balanced cocktail. We order various Crudos. These were elegantly sliced and slathered in various sauces. Shrimp, tofu, and vegetable tempura was prepared well. One of our friends ordered the galbi, sauce was too sweet and meat was bit tough so was the pork garlic robata. The king oyster and shrimp robata was very flavorful, too chewy and dry. I ordered the takyiyaki which was flavorful but slightly undercooked. My husband and I ordered the Rock Roll and Hanami Roll. Rock Roll is light and refreshing and the Hanami Roll was balanced perfectly with all the ingredients and the rice was not over powering. One of the tallest and friendliest servers gave us 2 complimentary rolls. One Roll reminded me of a flavorful crab salad with salmon sashimi. Quite tasty for a no rice roll. The other roll our table didn't enjoyed as much. One of our friends described it as kimchi like rice with tuna. One of our friends ordered a ramen dish and she was a little disappointed as the flavor was 2 dimensional from her POV. As for the baked scallops, it must have been really good because it didn't make it to my end of the table. Oh well next time. We really appreciate the manager stopping by our table to make sure we got everything. She was accommodating and professional. Our main server was very friendly, welcoming but for the majority of the time not present.The only feedback for Hanami is to have the tub for clearing tables on a cart. It is a little unappetizing when it is on the table while eating dessert. Our table was looking forward to the mango mochi and they sold out. Another reason to come back. I went there on a Sunday around 2pm, there was a decent amount of people but there was still lots of empty seating. We had never gone but were willing to try it out since we'd seen it often on our commute. We were a group of six so we got seated in the back room and overall it had good ambiance. Immediately upon sitting down I felt uncomfortable because the chairs were too small, and though there were benches available I didn't want to inconvenience my group by asking us to move, so I went outside to confirm if the outside chairs were bigger before going in a requesting to use a chair from outside and staff promptly helped me move it and cleaned it for me to sit. Overall the food was good but I wasn't anything special. The cost of rolls felt overpriced when compared to other similar locations and had it not been AYCE I wouldn't have dined here. Service was friendly however there would be 15-20 minute waits between getting the fresh/raw rolls and some of the sashimi, so there were periods of time where we were just awkwardly waiting. I like gauging how the rolls tastes in comparison to the price and the first one I ordered was the mango tango roll which I thought was lacking despite being almost $20. One item I would highly recommend is the baked scallop roll. It was very good and actually came out pretty fast. The sashimi was good and some pieces did taste better than others purely because of the type of fish. Overall, the food was fine but the chair, the long wait times, and defeated expectations of yummy food left me wanting more from the experience. pros: the salmon was pretty good. cons: Wow, this place was horrendous. Everything from the food to the service was absolutely unbearable. My party got there at around 5:30, and immediately got seated. After 20 minutes, It then took us getting up and finding a host for the server to serve us. It then took us asking another server and another 20 minutes to get us our waters. We ordered a total of 2 rounds. The first one, all of the appetizers (except for the salmon crudo) were room temp, and unflavorful. We ordered Shrimp Tempura, Agedashi Tofu, Shumai, Baked Mussels, and Tonkatsu Ramen. Everything was bland. The appetizers took ~30 minutes from ordering. The first round of sushi took 45 minutes. The second round of sushi took another 40. Throughout the whole time, we had to ask for water refills and just basic necessities. They didn't bring out wasabi/ginger/soy sauce until after the first round. We got no straws for our water. Our server would constantly forget to bring out our orders since they were also doing miscellaneous tasks like taking out the trash. Both of the tables besides us also got their orders wrong. It took 40 minutes from us asking for ice cream and the check to receiving our ice cream. They got the ice cream order wrong twice. There was 2 hour free garage parking, but because the service was so slow, we ended up having to pay for parking. The restaurant does not validate. I don't think I can put into words just how bad this experience was. It was probably one of my worst dining experiences. In and out, it took us around 2 hours and 40 minutes, when the amount of food we ordered should've been closer to an hour to an hour and a half. I am usually skeptical of AYCE but this place blew my mind. The fish was incredibly fresh and the Lychee Martini was delicious. The owners even stopped by our table to make sure we were taken care of. The restaurant has a very trendy/hip vide with great lighting (this can make or break a restaurant IMO). It was just ok. Some of the sushi definitely tasted a little old / fishy Not the best selection of rolls but some decent ones on there. I had a margarita served in a pint glass that was 90% sour mix off the gun. Servers don't really interact with you much but also didn't come here expecting great service. The food was great! There is a wide variety of foods. The service, on point. The wait we were told was an hour but we ended up getting seated and served in 15 minutes. The aesthetic of the restaurant was very nice, very clean and overall very amazing. Our server was Lamone, who provided excellent service and was great server.
