Talk about a hidden spot. This a good place to go if you spent too much of your lunch break at the Five Below store and need something quick. When you walk in, you're greeted with a cool DIY Ramen making station if you desire. To the left you've got cold items and to the right you've got pre-made hot items to go. There were so many unique yummy items that were calling out to me on but I had to turn them down, can't get them all. I feel like maybe the time of day I was there, there were less items on the shelves than in the pictures online. But for sure was able to find something to hit the spot. I picked the beef bimbimbop which was so nice. Protein, carbs, and fresh veggies. Wham bam thank you m'am. It was nice and refreshing and I feel still healthy. The meal was nice and pure if that makes sense. It wasn't a dish full of heavy sauces or oil. Just...ingredients. They even have a couple of tables up front where you can quickly eat before you have to jet back to work - or you can just grab and go (hence their name lol ;))

Finally!! A grab and go that I can actually GO back to!!! I wanted to grab dinner quickly but refused to buy fast food. I finally tried Purple Rice and I'm in awe. The inside is so clean and we'll organized. The warm items are kept separate from items that are kept cold. This is why this works! This is why the food is so fresh and good. The program is definitely understood . This method keeps the integrity of the dish! When I got home, it taste as if I went to a restaurant. I ordered the bibimbap with beef bulgogi. A sauce came with it as well. Everything was so fresh and good. The beef was good quality and not super fatty. The veggies were crisp and well kept. I had some leftover the next day and it was even more tasty!!!! The purple rice crispy was a tasty dessert I will most definitely be back!

I liked the beef gimbap quite a bit. The rice was pretty fresh and wasn't hard and the beef was seasoned well. I also tried the ube crispy treat but the ube flavor was not that strong. I think their sides are reasonably priced but I thought that their hot meals and gimbap were a it pricey.

Amazing spot to get your Korean sides for bbq at home! We picked up kimchi, cucumber kimchi, potatoes and ube rice pudding - everything was delicious!! We had the meat, rice and lettuce at home so this was perfect to have banchan options at home!! Service is quick / check out at the front and good to go! They also serve hot foods and have other options inside! We will definitely be back for more

Been wanting to review this place. Went to their soft opening and got a ton of stuff and was so excited to try them all! Everything looked so good and we wanted to sample everything! Love how cute this place is! Love how it's so thematic purple! Love the location as well. Love how it's clean and spacious. It's near us well near to work at Domain. Across from Mighty Fine and Chipotle and right off Mopac too! So convenient. Especially for grab and go concept. We even did a little picnic outside where there are tables by the parking lot. So fun! Ok the food ahh where do I begin? Love the kimbap! One of the best I've had. Love how full they are. Everything we got tasted homemade and fresh. I bought a few for our college son and his roomie and girlfriend too. It's perfect for college kids. Easy to heat up. It's great for working people too. Grab and go! The beef rice bowls and bulgogi were all delicious. Everyone loved the spicy pork bento as well. We do favor the ube Rice Krispies lol so good! The sides were all pretty yummy as well. Just love how fresh everything is. And everything is reasonably priced as well especially since it shows they put so much love and care into each dish. And it's just so convenient. If you want a home cooked meal but don't feel like cooking that night. Hope they do well because the owners are the nicest people too! So kind and sweet. So helpful as well. Solid people and yummy Korean homey comfort food. Can't go wrong!

So glad to hear of another Korean restaurant opening in Austin and it was a fair bit closer to me than any of its competitors. I showed up today as part of their soft open and have to say that I'm tentatively impressed. It's primarily grab-n-go as you can tell from the photos, a lot of warmers with pre-made soups and dosiraks, which are like Korean lunch bentos, and a cooler with drinks and and takeaway soups. Everything was in a purple and white color scheme which made me think kawaii and they even had merch ready. In the immediate center was a little dessert table with samples of their Ube rice krispie treat and their Pumpkin Spice rice krispie treat, both of which were tasty, but they came in a tray and not individually wrapped. Behind that were a couple of different stations with induction burners but that was closed off. I ended up getting their ready made yukgaejang and their brisket doenjang and two little dishes of the eponymous rice. I liked the yukgaejang bettter, it was clean but still had that heartiness. The owner came by and chatted a little bit, she was just as kawaii as her store. She explained the stations are for cooking demos and classes but she didn't want to do that on the first day since she was so nervous. She definitely fit the vibe of the place: warm, friendly and open. She came back with a couple of small banchans when I decided to use one of their two tables to stay and eat. Glad they're here!

A lovely local mom and pop store to pop in and get my Korean comfort eats like I'm going to a family friend's place when I'm in the area! I love the bento assortment and the banchan sides that are readily available for purchase and consumption! The purple rice in our hot warm rice bowls were tasty, and the spicy pork bento was delicious. I also really loved the pickled beets - and look forward to trying the kimbap next time. Friendly faces and even friendlier service, look for the samples of the Rice Krispies, and pick up a box next time! The taro and pumpkin spice were offered in store and we left with a good deal of food! A few tables are also available inside if you want to dine in for an easy place to eat! Yay!

Seems like a solid place and super convenient if you work in the area for a quick bite. I grabbed some chicken dosirak ($14) after a gym session so I could have lunch the next day and it was pretty tasty! This is a grab and go spot and they've got some decent options. It was a bit slim pickings when I went late last night but still managed to get some goodies. If you're a vegetarian/vegan, I'm sorry to say I didn't see much you could eat here. It is a bit pricier than what you'd get from a grocery store but you are paying for ready to eat goods. They had some samples for their ube Rice Krispies and Korean tuna pasta salad. The tuna pasta salad was tasty and would be great for a lighter lunch with some crackers or a bag of Korean chips. The cashier was friendly and the place was clean! I think this is a nice addition to the Austin area.

I repeat, I had very high hopes and wanted to love this experience, but I didn't. I want to be fair and give a complete overview of what was wrong with this experience because I feel if everyone else had given an accurate reason for the lower ratings I probably would not have come here so I am going to be very honest. This place has entirely too many good things to have the food be so lackluster. If the food matched the service and ambience, this would be a five star restaurant. I'll break down each item individually and give them each an individual rating. Shrimp tempura - 8/10 the shrimp tempura was good, but nothing special about it. It is as you would expect, hot and fresh with a nice crisp. It tasted like it was made with fresh oil, and the breading was nice and light. Chicken dumpling - 4/10 I was not impressed with this dumpling at all. It felt like it was cooked too high too quick and the inside was undercooked and underseasoned. I took a bite out of one and left the rest alone. I was not a super fan of the sauces either, which I got on the side because I did not want it drizzled over the dumplings so I could rate everything individually. Korean fried chicken - 7/10 I should have read the menu a little more carefully. These are boneless, which is basically just a chicken tender, we got ours with the orange sauce, which was really good but still not quite what I was looking for. The chicken was definitely fresh, the crust was very good, but it was not what I was expecting after having had actual Korean fried chicken. Bento Box - 5/10 everything on this tray tasted like a combination of freezer food and fresh made. The California rolls were very mediocre, the salad was nothing to shake a stick at, the tempura vegetables were really good though. The white rice lacked flavor and the yakitori chicken is not an item that they keep on the menu, but the chef made it upon request and we are super grateful for the accommodation, but it just lacked flavor. That is what makes leaving this review so difficult, the service truly was above and beyond, but the food was a major miss. The miso soup was room temperature and I was not a fan of the flavor. Ramen with chicken - 5/10 one of the main reasons I wanted to come eat here was because they have a large selection of gluten-free menu items. This Ramen is one of them so I was excited to experience gluten-free Ramen without having to take any digestive enzymes but this also came as a major disappointment. The broth tasted like the same broth they use for the miso soup, which I already did not like at all. The noodles had a bit of a Play-Doh texture, they were very strange. I think some rice noodles would be a much better option if they want to do gluten-free because whatever noodle they are using has a very strange texture. I was traveling and did not want to take any leftovers so I just dug out the meat. They also forgot to put the soft boiled egg, but I did not make a stink about it. I feel like the recipes could use a major revamping because there is no reason Joi should not have mind blowing food. I would love to come back and try it again upon seeing a menu makeover or making some adjustments to the current recipes. This food just not have a strong flavor profile.

The flavor was on the slightly bland or mild side (very subjective, and I ddin't add extra sauce), but I appreciated that it didn't seem to have MSG. This place is legit when you see that it is full of local Viet on a Sunday afternoon!…read more The menu is pretty good with authentic Vietnamese food but we normally come here for the S1 Ribeye Hot Stone Pho. They bring out the meat and noodles separately and then the soup in the stone bowl. This time the asked me if I wanted all the greens-- lime wedges, basil leaves, jalapeño slices and bean sprouts. I never eat the bean spouts but use everything else and it always seems a waste of bean sprouts when I don't use them so I was thankful to have them hold the bean sprouts. Be careful as the soup is extremely hot and the hot stone bowl keeps it that way for a while. You fill the bowl to the brim after adding all the meats and noodles. My only complaint is the noodles. They are fresh and just the right texture... very good! But for some reason the always seem to get cut up after I put them into the bowl. Not sure if they cut them before hand but they end up cut short when put them in the bowI. I prefer long slurpy noodles over cut noodles that's hard to pick up with chopsticks. Overall I still give it 5 stars and this one of the two best pho spots in the greater Austin area

We came here shortly after they open on a Sunday and were immediately greeted warmly and seated at a booth. The interior was very pleasant and cute with its decor and some lo-fi music playing in the background. We were the only ones there at first but not for long as a few other parties trickled in. We ordered the spicy garlic edamame, ramen, and some sushi. Dare I say, the edamame may be some of my favorite in Austin with its nice cook, delicious garlicky flavor, and perfect spice level that's not overwhelming. I got the tonkotsu black which was a great big bowl of a portion - it would definitely be beat out by some other ramens in Austin, but still hit the spot with great overall flavor and a comfort on a cold day. The nigiri and unagi roll were served beautifully with a lovely touch of dry ice to give a cool smoking effect. All the nigiri passed with flying colors and the unagi roll was satisfactorily yummy. We saw that they also had a promotion for buy 2 get 1 free boba and decided to take advantage - the brown sugar milk tea was probably our favorite, with the original having a strong tea flavor reminiscent of coffee and the Thai tea being exactly what you want from a Thai tea. The boba pearls were also decent with an interesting shape but great chew. The service continued to be extremely friendly throughout, with the server being diligent to refill our glass waters without being prompted. All the servers had a warm smile. It may not hit #1 on any sushi/ramen spot list, but definitely meets the mark for a good meal and friendly service.

Unfortunately the food was worse than we had hoped. The chicken steamed moms are okay. The dumpling itself was a bit chewy and the filling was tasty and well seasoned. The real disappointment was the spring rolls though. The spring rolls were so ridiculously overcooked, they were practically brown. They were very hard, although the filling wasn't awful. The whole order was just very mediocre which is unfortunate because we had high hopes. Honestly, we'll probably give this place another try. Chef Ling is a brilliant and personable chef who treats her chefs and staff like family. Several different chefs prepared each course, and the presentation was well beyond what we expected, both visually stunning and thoughtfully composed. From the moment we walked into Ling Kitchen, the energy felt warm and intentional. The space is intimate without feeling cramped, and you immediately sense that you are about to be part of something special rather than just another dinner reservation. Chef Ling personally welcomed guests, shared the story behind the menu, and checked in throughout the evening in a way that felt genuine and never forced. Each course built on the last, with a clear progression of flavors and textures. The fish was impeccably fresh, the knife work precise, and the seasoning balanced to highlight the natural ingredients rather than overpower them. You could see the coordination among the team as different chefs stepped forward to prepare and present their dishes. It truly felt collaborative, like a small culinary orchestra. What stood out most was the creativity. Traditional techniques were honored, but there were subtle twists and unexpected combinations that kept us curious and engaged. Every plate was composed like art. The pacing was perfect, allowing time to savor each bite and appreciate the craftsmanship. Beyond the food, the hospitality elevated the entire experience. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly proud to be part of the team. That family atmosphere Chef Ling fosters is palpable and makes the evening feel personal. If you are in Austin and looking for a memorable omakase that rivals experiences in much larger food cities, Ling Kitchen is a must. This is not just dinner, it is a curated, immersive experience. I saved Ling Kitchen for a recent visit to Austin, reuniting with my college roommate. She has been before; I hadn't, but we both enjoy memorable meals and she said this was sure to please; it did not disappoint. I eat at fine dining around the world and I appreciate that Ling Kitchen is truly trying to carve their own path, not trying to fit a specific mold. It was refreshing and so welcome. You enter through the back of the kitchen (where the private parking lot is) and are taken to a prep area where you'll select drinks and have opening bites. You get a selection of champagne or a non-alcoholic option to start and get your first taste of the food (charcuterie on a rice cracker, yum). They have a decent wine and sake menu, but everything is by the bottle, so beware if you're a light drinker. We opted for a bottle of sake that was just the right amount for two to share for a 3-hour meal. The actual meal takes place in the kitchen itself, alongside the prep of the chefs working it. It's such a unique ambiance and different to the "open kitchen" setup I have done for other fine dining; you are truly in between the cold storage, the duck aging for future diners, etc. The low light & ambiance is beautifully arranged for a nice meal and they put all the special touches - down to LED camera lights for each diner so you can use to take photos of your food better! You can only make reservations in 2's or 4's for this spot and the table arrangement is really for diners to share a meal together. The food itself is extremely beautiful and so filling! I think this was the first time at a fine dining restaurant I literally could not finish all the food and had to make a few smart choices towards the end to have room to try it all! I think some dishes stood out more than others (the XO lobster tail, every single dessert, an eggplant dish they made to sub for the aged duck for me, and the king salmon with curry lahksa), and a few were aesthetically pleasing but otherwise lacked strong flavor (the dumplings, the steamed egg, a pan seared halibut that was a sub for wagyu). I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and more so enjoyed the storytelling and thoughtfulness of each dish and the overall service & hospitality experience. Chef Ling Qi Wu is introduces several dishes and is available to chat with guests throughout the meal. She noted the taro dish as one of her first dim sum items she had ever made and the salmon curry lakhsa as a home comfort dish for her. The desserts were themed around the four seasons - just so much thought put into the whole experience! They had the entire table introduce themselves and share what brought them there halfway through the meal and gave us the opportunity to walk around the kitchen, talk to chefs, try some elements used in later dishes like the fresh honey used in our desserts. They gave us a polaroid, branded chopsticks and a clean menu to commemorate the experience. Ling Kitchen is truly more than a fancy restaurant; it's a whole memorable dining experience, and I hope to return for a future special visit one day!

What a pleasant place to dine at. My husband and I were looking for some Asian-fusion place and we…read moreare so glad we came across this place. More of a diner/casual place and I can see people coming here for social gatherings. Wouldn't recommend for very large parties though. There is parking behind the restaurant and since the restaurant isn't that big, I don't think it would take long to find a spot. You definitely get what you paid for. We got the hanger steak and chicken and it was more than enough. We got some appetizers because we thought the entrees wouldn't be filling enough but were so wrong. And surprisingly, the main entree entree chicken wasn't dry and pretty flavorful. The steak was also cooked well - wish there was more flavor but the condiments complimented it very well. I would also get the umami wings (well cooked and great flavor). Service is A plus - the workers were all very attentive, personable, answered any questions we had. We had a mishap with our bill and the (I think?) manager was so nice and accommodating. They also have different specials depending on the day/week! Will definitely come back anytime I come back to Austin.

Our server explained the owner's backstory, inspiration, the menu, HH, and the portion sizes. The charred Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful. The chicken wings were done in a spicy Szechuan Thai sauce. Very delicious. The Pork Buns were a home run. It was easily the biggest piece of Pork Belly I've ever seen on a bao bun. It was extremely tender and the sauce on the bun complimented it very well. It was my birthday and the wait staff gifted me an Ice Cream with Rice Paper Wafers. If I remember correctly, it was called a Thai Movie Theater (could be wrong). Ice cream was drizzled with chocolate, caramel, and fish sauce. Unique, unlike anything I've had before. The Rice Paper Wafers gave it a nice buttery crunch. Wonderful service. Wonderful food. Highly recommend and I will be back!
