    1 lb. Oxtails Dinner Plate

Whenever we are in the area we stop by and get our dinner. However, this trip we got food for the family as well. It turned into a large order! Tried the gizzards for the first time and they were delicious! Kids wanted the red velvet cookies and were disappointed at first at the size. But when they tried them, they changed their minds. They said they were very good! The only negative thing about this trip was we were missing food. We thought we checked our bags but it was so much! When we got back home we were missing the 3 piece fish meal. So triple check your order before you leave!

I've had this on my list for a hot minute and was finally out in this direction to be able to try this location one of my good Yelp friends Dolores L has been here several times and gave her stamp of approval. We ended up arriving around 1 PM on a Saturday afternoon it was rainy outside and definitely busy on the inside. They have their menu listed out and you walk up to the counter order. Your food are directed to get your own self serve beverage and then wait for your name to be called to get your tray from the window. The gentleman at the front was so sweet. We let him know it was our first time here and what he would recommend for us to try. His recommendation was to have one with tenders one with chicken wings. We could try the different flavors and how they come out differently. I ended up getting the waffle and my friend got the tenders. Onion rings and waffle fries. The chicken had amazing flavor of both the breading, but also in the meat itself the wings and cells were huge even though I only ordered three I could only finish one along with half of the waffle waffle was very thin and crisp again, even without having syrup it was very tasty on its own adding the syrup made it better. We ended up getting to go to containers for both of us to take home and I will say that everything heated up nicely and was a great leftovers the following day. The restaurant itself was simple with tables that you could move to accommodate larger parties or smaller parties. The drink area was a little bit congested, very hectic just because of how many people were in there and I will say that they may have had an opportunity to do a better at busting the tables as individuals left, which seem to get better as we sat there before we left. I would totally go back to try other items almost forgot I tried their banana pudding cake and it was phenomenal. Highly recommend five stars.

The YAMS wow! Reminds me of home. Delicious .

All I can say is get here as fast as you can. The food here brought a tear to my eye it was soooo good. No bs no exaggeration this was such great quality and flavorful food I was angry with myself for not coming sooner. Every thing is good it doesn't matter what you get! But if you must know I got chicken tenders chicken wings collard greens Mac and cheese yams corn bread fried okra and last but not least oxtail Mac n cheese eggrolls !!!! No I didn't eat all this alone I had my wife and kids and we all agree we LOVE this place. The service is wonderful the interior is very clean and there are so many drink options. I will say I only overlooked eating here because traffic on 620 is always so bad and because it's in a shopping center I simply passed by and never saw. Boy was that a mistake. Please do your self the favor and give Whip My Soul a chance .

Wing Wings Dinner Plate w/ Mean Greens and Cheezy Mac Added a piece of fish

Just moved from NC so was looking for traditional soul food from a Black owned business and came across Whip My Soul. I'm so happy I have them a try because everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. It's a casual counter service restaurant that does get busy. I did come in on a Saturday evening and it was definitely their peak time. The line was to the door and food had about a 45 minute wait. For made to order food and with the crowd they had I expected that especially with a line and full tables. My food came out quicker than I expected. The macaroni and cheese was baked and still very cheesy. The greens were perfect, I just added some hot sauce to give them some spice. The fish and chicken were fried perfect and seasoned well. The portion size was good especially considering the cost of food and what other restaurants charge.

Whip My Soul you did not disappoint! Food was delish, customer service was on point and the energy was good. The restaurant was clean and everything came out quickly. Top faves at the table would be the Oxtail & Mac Egg Rolls, Wings, Catfish, Mac n Cheese and the red beans and rice. Looking forward to coming back to try more things on the menu!

Consistency is key and I love that this location is family owned. I don't come here often but when I do want some greens and some fried chicken just right, Whip my Soul a place to go. There are not too many items on the menu that I don't care for however, I hope one day or maybe in the summer you might add some type of fancy Cajun salad. That would be delightful. Anyway, I ran out here the other night to grab dinner for Bae and I. I really enjoy that. My food lasts me two meals. I got the two shrimp and fried chicken along with red beans and rice and a side of greens. Bay wanted some fried fish, extra crispy, some greens and candy yams. He loves cornbread, so I got that as well.

Birthday month for me and I was craving for wings and fish. This is the best place to be with my greens, yam and fried cabbage on the side. Amazing food. The line's always long and the wait for the food but once you get the call and your food tray touches the table, it's always worth it. Military discount is honored. Crowded but enough for the best southern food in TX. The koolaid section was the best but mango is always my favorite. We had the platter with two sides and drink. Clean, tables are efficient with condiments. I was dancing while eating. Don't judge please lol.

Cute place, super friendly service, very clean inside. We both ordered shrimp and grits. Shrimp was fresh and there were plenty in the dish. The grits were a little runnier than I liked them, they were well seasoned though. I was surprised the dish didn't have much heat to it. With hot sauce, it was enough for me. My husband has raved about the kool-aid for two days, so it must have been delicious. All in all we will be back!

I have heard so many great things about the different menu items! I'm in the beginning stages, as of a few days ago, to try every food dish on the menu. Yes, it took my first plate, and I knew I would return. You know when your first dish is the best; it's a sign to keep on coming back. So I walked into the holiday cheer; it was nice to see "Let It Snow" on the door. Also, it's a very spacious place. I loved the checkered floors, the woody walls, and the menu posted on several of them. It's a huge menu, which makes it easier to look it over without holding up the line. Of course, I ordered the oxtails but I order the greens instead of cabbage. Trying something new. But they switched up on me. Instead of the regular rice and beans, they had a yellow rice that was good and fluffy, full of flavor. Another delicious surprise is that the other side item is red beans and rice with sausage. Now, let me tell you, you get a lot of food. It may appear you can't eat it all, but you can because it's so good. The oxtail fell off the bones. The red beans, rice, and sausage had a nice spice to them. The yellow rice was just yummy. I ate the whole dish in one setting. Oh, one more thing, the parking is plentiful, and there are several businesses in the same parking lot. Also, let me give better instructions than the ones given to me. Once you pass Lakeline Mall, it's right down the street on the same side as the mall. It might be two or three lights, and you're there! Whip My Soul is now one of my favorite places to dine and to tell all my friends!

Stopped in for lunch on a Thurs. You order at the counter and find a table you want to sit at. They'll call your name out at the window to pick up your food. Easy, no fuss fine in or take out restaurant. I ordered the oxtail plate with 2 sides (Mac and cheese and mean greens=collards) and I couldn't resist a piece of cornbread. My friend ordered the 3/3 plate (3 wings and w tenders) w/ 2 sides. She also ordered a peach cobbler and fried gizzards. Portion sizes are generous and all the bites were delicious. Loved the gizzards with some hot sauce and their Mac was scrumptious. The oxtails were literally fall apart. You definitely have to check this place out and it's great to support a black-owned business.

One of my go to spots for good soul food. The food is cooked to order and it is delicious. Do expect a wait on the weekends and specifically on Sundays. The chicken, fish and shrimp are beautifully fried to perfection. The taste reminds me of that good old southern cooking you'd expect on Friday Dish Fry nights. The portions are huge. This is the full wing, drumstick, flat and tip. Try their amazing sides. I can almost guarantee you will not be disappointed at their menu selection. Listen for your name to be called for their order. The speaker is in need of replacing. Michael C. Georgetown, Tx.

Came here with a friend. Wanted to get some good food that wasn't too far away from where we were. Whip My Soul was about 10 minutes away, and so we decided that's where we were going to eat. We've both been here before and we know the food is good. As we stood in line, we read through the menu, which is large print on the wall. I got the fried shrimp, which were large. Got the Mac & Cheese and what I'm going to rename as Christmas yams. These yams, Oh My WORD! They smelled like Christmas. They tasted like Christmas, I could visually see Christmas just from looking at them. Soft, hot, cinnamon & butter yams. That's love on a plate. The shrimp was light and crispy. Light batter. The mac & cheese was rich and creamy and cheesy. Meal was filling. I couldn't finish the mac & cheese, ended up eating it later. But man, those YAMS!!! Great place to take out of town guests. The food is always on point.

I highly recommend, the best fried chicken I've had in a long time, get the greens and Mac , you won't regret it. Awesome food with amazing service.

What are the fish options? Is it only catfish?

I believe Catfish is the only fish I remember on the menu. But they also have amazing Mac and cheese and collards amount other things if you are looking for Friday night no meat for Lent.

Do they have any Gluten free options?

    Actually I'm not sure

Anybody know if they are open today with the weather, the phone number accomplishes nothing?

I really don’t know. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

    Does this restaurant take reservations?

No, they don't offer reservations that I know of.

What type of fish do they serve?

    Catfish...and it's really good
