This restaurant has a pretty good service and friendly staff. We got our food relatively quick considering we had to wait for it to be cooked. The hot was HOT! I was overly ambitious thinking it will be like medium level at best and got proven wrong quick lol I didn't realize sweet and smoky would be a dry rub, otherwise I'd get a different flavor. But overall it was good! I just prefer my chicken saucy Overall, It was really good and juicy chicken, would definitely try other flavors! Cobbler was fine, not really crazy about it, but also don't hate it either.
Pretty good chicken. The food does take a few minutes to cook and come out. The service is really good. They did forget one of my tenders and gave our missing one with no problems. The coleslaw is not watery which is good. The hot option on the chicken is really hot. The moment I decide to test out the heat at a new chicken spot I actually suffer for it. Good thing we didn't get all of it hot! Fries were good. The peach cobbler was just okay. I would try a different dessert next time.
Late night food run...after a very tiring day with more than 2 hours of exercise and being up since 6 am in the morning, I was starving. That ole saying, that I was so hungry I could eat horse applied...ok maybe not a whole horse but definitely a chicken. Smile. In route home, I texted my hubby and he put in his Hattie B's order with me. We ordered chicken wings with crinkle fries (the hubs) and me bone in chicken with cheesy grits (one of my delights in life). It was approximately 11 pm when I was picking up our order. The chicken and sides were absolutely delightful and totally offset our hunger. Normally, we do not eat this late, however, this exception was perfectly fine. Hattie B's staff also included their famous comeback sauce. It was even more delicious late night. We also ordered peach cobbler but saved it for the next day. Perfect end to an evening...
Quite honestly and embarrassingly for other high end restaurants... the cheesy bacon grits were the BEST I have EVER had. I might buy a bucket of them. The collard greens were FANTASTIC, too... perfectly seasoned with zero bitterness. I was just not expecting a fast food place to be this good. The chicken sandwich was out of this world. My 2 piece chicken was just okay... a bit dry. Stick with the sandwich.. it took the Gold medal! Highly recommend and get those sides... you will not be disappointed!!
First time to try Hattie's. The Nashville chicken craze is overrated vs good old southern fried chicken. Nashville hot is cayenne pepper covered chicken. The chicken is very tasty. Unlike Tumble 22, their chicken spicy levels are real. The medium is medium hot and very tasty. Other Yelpers said the hot is really spicy hot. The ice tea is great as one should expect. The greens were served hot (temperature) and very tasty. Definitely in the very good greens column. Definitely recommend the chicken sandwich and greens. A had a taste of the waffle. OMG they are amazing! No syrup needed they are delicious just by themselves. I definitely recommend Hattie's and will make a return trip.
Late post!! My brother family visited us in the winter break, and they like fried chicken, we have tried Hattie bs in Nashville but not in Austin, so decided to give it a try. We were 4adults, 1 teenager and 1toddler, ordered a bunch of stuff. Drinks and waffles were decent, service was okay, my brother picked spice level medium, and we all went with dang hot, since that's what we get at Tumble 22. But dang hot here is unbeatable spicy, and we do eat quite spicy food, more than that, the spice was burned to black, I'm guessing they have tossed fried chicken in spice powder and flash fried again or something, because you can see and taste it, it was disgustingly inedible to eat(you can see in the pic), I ordered jumbo chicken strips, and it was a joke, it was not even the size of Chick-fil-A chicken strips, as anyway I couldn't eat it I dint care.
A gem in the domain by Haywire. We had a special event and I got to meet the Gm Dre. The chicken is amazing and have different flavors for your fried chicken and by the way they also do grill and they have salad. I recommend the mac & cheese obviously. He would over and beyond to cater to us and now I understand why it's so busy all the time but it's worth weight and it's a fun environment! You're missing out if you're not have their chicken!
Their service was exceptional! We are so glad Yelp brought us here. It was delicious! We ordered three mild tenders with mac & cheese cheese, three medium tenders with fries, a kids, no spice, tender with fries, and 2 damn hot and one clucking hot tender with grits. They have excellent waffles as well as a nice variety of drinks. It's cold right now, but they have fans overhead and I am so happy that there is such a spacious patio at the domain. I hope Hattie B's is around for a long time! GPS had a hard time finding it, but it is very close to Hat Creek and directly across the street from Jin Ya Ramen. The food was excellent. You simply order at the counter and they will bring out your food! I'm a huge fan of the tenders and Mac and cheese. Chicken is very juicy with a hint of heat. I know the medium is pretty hot too. I also tried the salad and was surprised at how juicy the chicken was! Lots of seating inside and outside on the covered patio. It's next to a parking garage so plenty of parking available.
THE BIG: Nashville hot chicken, now with a second location in the domain! This space feels smaller than the one in South Lamar but it's so much closer to me than the south location. Parking are available in the garage. THE BLACK AND WHITE: One of my favorite Nashville hot chicken spots. Let me tell you, the hot is very hot. THEN there's the two heat enthusiast levels. No way Jose. Those are the Damn Hot and the Shut The Cluck Up. You won't see me trying that any time soon. I usually get a quarter bird with the breast and the wing, boned in and with medium spice. I tried hot last time and it was very hot. Don't say I didn't warn you. They also serve booze and boozy cocktails if you want to cool off the heat with some libations. THE FINAL BAMBOO: To be honest, we've tried everything on their menu and it was delicious. A normal meal (quarter bird or 3 tendies) will set you back around $13. Great value for a great meal.

The fried pickles were sooooo good and beautifully fried. One con was it was a bit salty but still enjoyed it. Hattie B's is a good chicken spot with a ton of different spices and some good sides as well. This location has both indoor and outdoor dining which is nice to be able to choose between. Ordering was quick although they did make a mistake and forgot to put cheese on one of our sandwiches. We ended up ordering a few chicken sandwiches of varying spice levels (their ghost pepper is the REAL DEAL) and some sides of fries, mac and cheese, cole slaw, grits, and a dessert of peach cobbler. The food came out pretty quick for what looked like an understaff kitchen and we were excited to start digging in. The sandwiches are pretty good, in our opinion still a half step behind Popeye's, but still pretty good. The sides were hit and miss though. The grits and cole slaw were good, but the fries were okay and the pimento mac and cheese was a miss, mostly because it felt like a bit too much spice for mac and cheese. Lastly, the peach cobbler was pretty good. Nice and sweet with a nice crust mixed in. For our first time we thought Hattie B's was decent and serves as a good, casual alternative to some of the more traditional sitdown restaurants around it. read more
TLDR: Phenomenal chicken and excellent fries. 'Nuff said. Fantastic! Salivating while writing this review. The chicken is stellar. Thick pieces of juicy chicken with a wonderfully crispy shell. My husband and I got the 3-wing plate to share. They are fat wings so it was sufficient as a large snack for each of us but not a meal per se. As far as spice level, they've got a range, as well as a couple non-spicy flavors. We played it safe with mild (for my sake) and it was actually a pretty robust mild. We also got the fries on the side and I was impressed. Not usually a crinkle-cut fries gal but these were great -- perfectly crispy. There was a bit of a line on a Saturday afternoon (Labor Day weekend) but it took about 5 minutes only. Not bad. Friendly staff. Quick service. Outdoor patio. Lest I forget -- they get bonus points for having a business card jar! "Drop your business card to win a free lunch." I haven't seen one of those in ages. Cool! read more

Ordered here a few times and the common theme is that they have good food but if you don't ask for it fresh - it is not very good. Latest order was the Half Bird Mixed Plate and looked absolutely delicious but I immediately regretted the order after a few bites. Not hot at all, crispy skin but very dry as if it was under a heat lamp for several hours. Being famished, I downed the leg quarter but couldn't bear to start the breast quarter. Long story short, I called the store and they remade with a newly fried breast quarter - so much better! So I do commend the store for remaking my order but you would think they would remake the entire order to make up for the poor product and inconvenience... In the end, I would say they make decent chicken here but you have to ask for it "fresh".... read more

Hattie B's lived up to the hype for me. Simple, satisfying, and exactly what you want when you're craving hot chicken. The chicken was juicy with a great crispy exterior, and the spice was flavorful rather than just painful. For me, the real flavor starts at the Medium level and up -- that's where the seasoning actually shines. Medium is very manageable and enjoyable if you can handle a bit of heat. The fries were solid too: crispy, well-seasoned, and the perfect side to balance out the chicken. Overall, I liked it and would definitely come back when I'm in the mood for Nashville-style hot chicken done right. read more

Stopped in for a late night snack after a night out, to get my fried chicken fix! Ordered the 3 fried tenders at Medium spice level with fries as my side. The tenders were okay - a little tough/chewy but fine. I was disappointed by the spice level. I felt like the medium spice level had no kick! Made a mental note to definitely get a level or two higher in the future. The crinkle cut fries were crunchy and delicious. Service was good, space is clean and decorated with chicken artwork adorning the walls indoors & outside. They have a good amount of seating between the indoor space and the outdoor patio. read more

My first time here and man it did not disappoint. Shout out to Cassie John, & Trish for the amazing customer service. They gave great advice on the different spice levels and even let me sample the Damn Hot . I got a mix of items to try. The 3 piece tender and bacon cheese grits were amazing . Grits were cheesy and full of flavor and the tenders were HUGE & so juicy . I got them HOT and it was a perfect amount of heat . I got the damn hot on the side since I love spicy things . I loved the pimento Mac and cheese and the waffle were next level . Eat the waffles with the hot tenders and you won't regret it . The spicy and sweet combo is a match made in heaven . The dirty bird fries had me on a chokehold & I could not stop eating them. Seriously addicting with the chicken, pickle , pimento, & crispy crinkle fries it was a bomb flavor combo . If you don't want the heat it's ok they also have mild so don't worry . The ambience and music is great & I love the decor . They also have drinks and beer on tap with a happy hour from 3-6 everyday . Get the watermelon marg with the damn hot rim and you won't regret it . Super cute new chicken spot that was definitely need in The Domain area. It was my bf and I's first time ever and we enjoyed our visit. Of course there was a line since this was around the first week they opened. However, the service was quick and the staff were on point! The lady that took our order actually gave us samples and great suggestions. The inside was a little tight due to the crowd but the patio is beautiful and offers tons of space. They also have tv's for entertainment. Food wise, we went with classic bone in and everything was fresh! Of course, I went with the spiciest flavor and personally, it wasn't very spicy so I was a little bummed. However, I did enjoy my bf's mild chicken with their signature comeback sauce. The fries are so so good and crispy! Overall, we'll definitely be back to try other dishes and desserts! Glad to see this great new addition to the area :) read more

I wish I knew what the hype with Hattie B's is because I was so disappointed by my order yesterday. I wasn't that hungry but I've been wanting to try Hattie B's, so I came in and ordered a kids' meal. It came with a chicken tender and my choice of a side (I got mac n cheese). The chicken was quite tender and juicy, but it was just so...plain. I didn't get any comeback sauce with my order, and I didn't even know they had something called the comeback sauce. The mac n cheese had zero flavor or seasoning, so it was so bland. I would come back again because I'm sure I just ordered the wrong thing, but my first visit left much to be desired. read more

This is the second location of the Nashville hot chicken chain to open in Austin, but the first I've gotten to visit since it's so conveniently located in the Domain. It's right by the parking garage in what used to be Curry Up, but has been completely overhauled to make it their own with plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating. And everyone was so helpful and ready to bring refills and check on anything we needed. Even the mild chicken is more spicy than I expected so I'm afraid of the super hot levels they offer, but I enjoyed my salad with plenty of chicken and vegetables including some like corn and black-eyed peas I wasn't expecting. All the sides we tried were good too especially the mac & cheese and the cheddar bacon grits. read more

Hot fried chicken--need I say more? I got to check out the new Hattie B's during their soft opening this week and was definitely not disappointed! Located in Domain NORTHSIDE it's surrounded by great restaurants and bars, making it a perfect spot for a fun night out or a casual lunch. Since I stopped by on my lunch break I couldn't fully dive into the full experience, but my order came out quickly which I really appreciated. I went with the Hot Tenders and sides of Queso Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans. The tenders packed a serious kick, but the sides and a little ranch helped cool things down. For those who like to play with heat they've got both milder and extra hot options, plus chicken sandwiches and bone-in plates. The ambiance is modern and spacious, with plenty of indoor seating and an outdoor patio that's great for people watching in the Domain. Overall, a great first visit and a welcome new addition to the area's dining scene. read more

As a boy from the north, Hattie B's has supposedly been the gold standard of hot chicken shops. I had always assumed that they had some sort of "special sauce" that made their chicken that much better than other competitors. And after finally trying it for the first time, I can say with full confidence that it was just fine. Great quality chicken with good seasoning and well prepared. Not quite knock-your-socks off but a very good choice for some good quick chicken. read more

My girlfriend and I were at The Domain, shopping, vibing, and having a great time when suddenly I saw the new Hattie B's location glowing off the street corner. I told her, "WE HAVE TO GOOOO." So we went. This is my third time trying Hattie B's: first during SXSW 2023, second at their Lamar location, and third here at The Domain. Upon walking in, the vibe is hip. The touches of red throughout the building are tight, and the trap music in the speakers gives the atmosphere a fun energy. I ordered three of their tenders medium while my girlfriend ordered two mild. Upon getting the tenders, I felt like their medium was nothing. I'm not the most spice-tolerant guy, but it just didn't feel like it was truly that spicy. The tenders were very crispy and tender, all while served on a flimsy piece of white bread, the Nashville way. I got a side of their bacon cheddar grits on a whim and thought they were okay, but that was just a mistake on my behalf since I don't really even like grits. I wasn't converted. Previous ventures to Hattie B's tell me that their fries are supreme, and I knew that but didn't act correctly. It was my first time visiting this restaurant and this new location in The Domain with my coworkers. I ordered the salad (no spicy), but it still had a little kick, probably from being in contact with the other ingredients. My coworkers ordered the spicy options, and even the mild one was pretty strong! So I'd say this place is definitely for people who really love spicy food. I personally like put some spicy in my food, but only when I can control it, like with a sauce on the side. I ordered the salad and it was very tasty, the chicken was delicious, and everything felt super fresh. The service was 10/10. The place itself is really cool too. We went around 12:30pm and it was pretty busy but everything came out fairly quickly. If you dine in, they kindly bring the food to your table, which is a nice touch. The homemade lemonade was so delicious, definitely a must try. read more

Omg i just went to the soft opening of Hattie B's new location in the Domain and tried almost everything on the menu. Yes i feel a little sick, but that's my own problem for eating so much delicious food and them not saying "no" every time I said i wanted to try something else. The dirty bird fries are so good, covered in mac & cheese and either fried or grilled chicken. I got the fried for the most flavor (and Hot heat level was a lot but manageable)!! Then i got 3 huge strips of chicken (again hot level) and barely finished one cause i was full from the dirty bird fries. The mac & cheese with pimento had a nice kick to it as a side, and my friend said the fried pickles were great (i don't do pickles myself). For dessert we shared the amazing banana pudding which my friend thought may have had a rum flavor to it. I dont know, but it was delicious. I didn't eat the Nila cookies cause i wanted to savor the pudding taste. The sweet buttery waffle with vanilla ice cream was the best way to end the meal! Then since the food was free for us, I took home the salad (the photo) and will write about it later when i eat again.., right now i can't think about eating, I ate soooo much delicious food. I had Hattie Bs in Nashville during a road trip and was excited that they opened locations in Austin. I don't come to the domain much but I finally had a chance to check it out on a Saturday for early dinner. The service was pretty quick but the menu seems a bit scarce in comparison to the one in Nashville. I got the three piece tenders medium heat with pimento Mac and cheese and a strawberry lemonade with vodka frozen. The tender was good but I really enjoyed the pimento Mac and cheese and the frozen didn't even taste like it has alcohol in it. It's a pretty good solid hot chicken place but tumble 22 is better in my opinion in terms of variety and option. read more

Found this place by accident and super glad we did. We tried the fries that had a sauce and chicken and goodness was it delicious. Also, the pickles were perfect and the only problem is I wanted more. I will be back to try more of their menu items. read more

Super late post, but wanted to write this review! I was able to pop in on February 4th at 5:20pm. It wasn't busy at all and I got my order very fast! Service was excellent and people were super nice. I didn't really prefer the taste of the comeback sauce. Chicken was nice and tender and juicy. I thought it was a bit too salty for my taste though. Fries were good.
