Thank you for a delicious takeout birthday lunch! We ordered late so they were out of some things (the sign of great BBQ joint!). Here's where we tried: 1 brisket - great flavor and not overpoweringly smokey. The sauce was pretty perfect. Sweet, good kick of heat and pepperiness, and a hint of sweetness. 2. Turkey - was so tender that when I poked it with a fork to pick up a slice and fell apart! 3. Ribs were delicious and so fall off the bone. The fat was rendered just perfectly that they weren't too heavy. 4. Pork belly - everyone loved it and my mother-in-law who despises pork belly said it was delicious and loved it! That's saying something! 5. Steak tacos - unexpected addition to our order yet might have been the star of the show. They were perfect balance of delicious meat and the right toppings on a perfect tortilla. I will get these the next time I visit. This would be loved by anyone who isn't a barbecue fan but just loves good steak tacos. 6. They were out of many of the sides, but we tried the corn and the pasta and cheese.. The icing on the cake was the amazing customer service! Jonathan and the crew were wonderful and friendly. The only thing that would have made this experience better was if they had bread, jalapeños, and onions to go with the meal, but perhaps we had to request them and we didn't during pickup. We will return! P.S. Thanks for the garlic!

This is a food truck that popped up at the pink flamingo food truck park next to the water tank bar & restaurant. We come here a lot and wanted to try it out. This barbecue was unique in a few ways that I enjoyed. The sauce was uniquely flavored and had a good amount of seasoning. It had more depth than a regular "sweet" or "hot" bbq sauce. We also got a brisket sandwich that had great flavor, and some "fiend" elote which is their brisket, queso fresco, and cilantro on top of some boiled corn. That was really tasty and had some creamy sauce at the bottom. The item that stood out the most to me was the smash burger for one reason; it had a crunchy texture throughout the burger. Usually when I order a smash burger, it's one texture, soggy. But good! But this time, it had crunch and it was delicious. For two of us, we finished a smash burger, a 505 burger, a brisket sandwich, and a fiend elote. The items do come a little small so make sure you order a lot.

Absolutely loved this take on BBQ. The flavors were incredible and meat was juicy and tender. The pork ribs and the sausage were my favorite meats. For sides, the street corn awesome and better than I expected. It's not like typical street corn. The potato salad and frito pie were probably second favorite sides. I usually don't like a mustard base potato salad but loved this one. The queso noodles were good just not nearly as impressive or flavorful as everything else. The distillery the truck is at now has a gorgeous outside area to eat, drink and hang out. Lots of tables and room to eat with shade. The pit masters were so friendly and helpful. They even walked our food out to us. Will definitely be back to try some more and will be back for those ribs!!

Absolutely amazing super nice guy. Hope to sell food was best I've had in a while super juicy super tender, flavorful seasoned amazingly and being outside gives you the extra special touch.

brisket, spare ribs , roti, smoked kimchi

The brisket and spare ribs were really good, we got a quarter pound of each and it was enough for 2 people. I liked the brisket a little better than the spare ribs just because the ribs were a little too sweet. other than that they were both really tender and juicy. The smoked kimchi was a bit disappointing. I liked the roti, it was cooked well and flaky and crispy. There is free valet parking and they have a cute seating area that's outdoors. The service is really quick and they were nice.

Stopped by Si Baby-Q for my last day in TX. In a world where Monday joints are very few this was an awesome stop. Open 7 days a week even! I stopped by a year ago and they were parked in a different location. I like this new spot under trees. I remember loving the sausage and kimchi here last time but sadly none today. But still enjoyed the other meats. The slices of brisket I got were from the point and probably out of this week the crunchiest brisket bark. The contrast of texture from the melty fat and the tender point was wonderful. The ribs were a little more tender than I like but the sweet glaze on top was wonderful and the pork was still juicy. What I loved the most is the pork belly burnt ends. Sauced up with a sweet chili sauce. Sweet and tangy on top of the fatty pork. I could easily eat these all day. I think it was better than the last time I stopped by a year ago and I've already told my Austin coworkers they need to stop by since the office is only a short drive away.

AMBIANCE: - This is a food truck next to the main restaurant. They have plenty of outdoor seating. They validate parking at the garage next door. - The prices at the food truck were less expensive than the main restaurant, so a good way to try the flavors! FOOD: - We ordered the brisket sandwich and the pulled lamb shoulder. Both were very rich, tender, and filling. I liked the sandwich better because it had more texture. - We also ordered the esquires chinos. The flavor was okay, but I think it could've been better.

We just happened upon this food truck after we couldn't find the restaurant we were searching for. That was our good fortune. I can't begin to describe how good our food was. It's probably the best BBQ I've ever had, especially the sweet chili pork belly burnt ends--probably the most delicious food I've ever had. This isn't just hyperbole, I've had about 36 hours to think my experience over. The street corn is also indescribably delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and service was excellent and friendly. I live about 150 miles from Austin and I'm already planning a trip back just for this food.

Solid BBQ spot with some standout items. The brisket was definitely the highlight--tender, smoky, and full of flavor. I also enjoyed the smash burger and the fiend elote; both were well-executed and hit the right notes. I tried the 505 burger, which had chorizo and queso--interesting combo, but the queso didn't quite work for me. Still, overall a good experience and worth checking out if you're into BBQ with some creative menu options.

This food was exceptional!! I placed the order online and it was ready extremely quickly. Everything was so flavorful and unique. Their pita was flaky and delicious, truly was incredible to enjoy. They have plenty of picnic tables if you choose to dine there or take it to go. Highly recommend!

We were planning to try one of each taco but they had already run out of the pulled pork. They wrapped each taco individually in aluminum foil to keep it warm which was a nice touch, though they didn't bring out the red and green sauces until we asked for them. Brisket Taco ($9): The brisket was a bit dry but the slice was pretty thick and it paired well with the acidity of the pickles. Carne G Taco ($6): Super cheesy and heavy. The flavors weren't bad but I felt pretty gross after eating one and it left me really bloated.

When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. You order at the open kitchen and then pay at the counter when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you can take your food and sit at any of their tables of which they have many (this place is pretty big). You can exchange the default sides for some other options for a little extra charge. It was wonderful to see how generous the portion sizes were, including the sides! The chicken was perfectly friend and breaded in my opinion while keeping the white meat tender -- it was still like that even after I put the leftovers in the air fryer the next day. The baked beans were very flavorful and the sweetness complimented the savory chicken well. The cheer on top moment was the fact that the chicken was seasoned with a spicy seasoning so there was a bit of a subtle spicy aftertaste in each bite! I'll definitely be back again! :)

Dry chicken is already a rough start, but when the place builds its entire identity around fried…read morechicken, it becomes the whole story. The chicken we had was dry enough that the crust felt like the only source of moisture. Flavor-wise, it never really arrived -- just basic chicken, none of that deep, savory, robust profile you expect from a place that claims world‑famous status. It wasn't offensive, just forgettable, which is almost worse for a fried‑chicken joint. Service was fine -- not warm, not cold, just functional. But being out of sweet tea, a southern staple and practically part of the cultural contract of fried chicken, didn't help the mood. And honestly, even if they'd had it, the chicken wasn't good enough for sweet tea to save the experience. Overall, Gus's felt like a place coasting on reputation rather than execution. Dry chicken, muted flavor, and missing sweet tea make it hard to justify a return visit.

Brisket - This was definitely the best item eaten of the day. It was tender and juicy while adding the BBQ sauce giving that extra bite. The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.
