Over the weekend we ordered a large order via delivery for our family of 6 to celebrate my dad's birthday. Our family has deep ties to Guam as my mom is from there, and Hawaii as my dad was stationed there for many years in the air force and I was born there! I also grew up in California where access to Hawaiian / Pacific Islander food and culture is everywhere. Needless to say I was blown away! There are very few places to order a mixed plate here in Austin and this tasted the closest I've had to home in a long time. We ordered the Ohana Platter, Garlic Butter Shrimp Plate, Maui Kalbi Ribs, and Spam Musubi. Everything was hot and delicious and so so so flavorful. The finedene was an amazing touch. I wish I had gotten a chance to order a plate of red rice to complete my craving but I will definitely be back to order a catering pan of it! Everything was so great, if yall have never been you have to give them a shot -- you will not be disappointed. Mahalo Pacific Flame! read more

Pacific Flame Island Grill - My mixed plate at home - Hawaiian Near Me - Austin TX, Texas

Food truck tucked away in the back lot of nowhere, Pacific Flame is worth seeking out to get the Hawaiian food fix you didn't know you needed. There's plenty of outdoor seating but little shade, so you decide if you want to brave the heat or eat in your car. The plate lunch is a classic and they do it proud here. It typically consists of a protein, a few scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I went with the Huli Huli chicken, which is more or less grilled teriyaki cooked with extra pineapple tang. They give a good amount of meat for the price. Food takes a bit of time but I appreciate them cooking it fresh. They got other classics like loco moco too! read more

Pacific Flame Island Grill is a hidden gem, literally not figuratively, in North Austin on Pond Springs Road. You literally can miss it as I did when I initially tried to find this food truck. It is located near Ruku mechanic shop and shaved ice food truck after your drive down a relatively long path. Pacific Flame Island Grill has been touted as the lead for Austin's most authentic Pacific Island BBQ. According to Tammy, the owner, this family-owned truck serves authent ic pacific island food from Maui, Guam, Philippines, and Okinawa. It was nice talking to Tammy as she was super engaging. She draws you in with the Pacific Island history, cooking techniques and family traditions. I learned Tammy's family has a family crest which is tattooed on family members only. You have to obtain permission to get the tattoo and only one woman creates the tattoo. She indicated that their family is mainly from an area near Hana affectionately called the divorce road to Hana. My hubby and I drove up the road to Hana, which was treacherous...many one lane areas where only one car can pass and many blind curves. While the hubs and I are still married, next time we will take a helicopter to the waterfalls in Hana. Smile. I ordered the Teriyaki & Shoyu Chicken bowl. The chicken was tender with a deep, smoky char that Pacific Flame Island gets from their black iron grill. The accompanying rice was flavorful and enjoyable to eat. Win, win...all the way...food and island family! read more

I can't speak to the food, but the service at this establishment was inadequate. I'm a Door Dash driver and if you are a Door Dash driver, you should reject orders from this place. I got to the window and was told my order would be ready in a few minutes. After waiting for 20 minutes, I went back to the window and again inquired about the order. I was told it would be a few minutes more. After watching a customer's order be given to another customer by mistake, my food was finally ready after 25 minutes. A thank you for waiting would have been nice or some type of appreciation for being patient would have gone a long way (which I know could have been done because I watched the employee be warm and apologetic to the person about the order she gave away) Anywho, Dashers stay away. You'll lose money waiting for people who cook on island time. 0/10 I wouldn't recommend. read more

I had my husband pick this up on his way home. Overall, I thought their prices were reasonable for what you got. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and huli huli chicken plates. The chicken was tender. The chicken teriyaki didn't have sauce on it. I wish I would have known so I could have gotten some sauce with it. Because the macaroni salad was in the same box, it got warm. I was hungry and not patient enough to chill it. For the record, warm mac salad isnt good!!!I did have some the next day that I refrigerated. It was better but a little bland. read more

Absolutely amazing! My husband and I have been searching for a good Hawaiian spot for years! We're a military household, so we've been all over the place. Believe me when I say this is the BEST spot you're gonna find. The owner was super sweet, the area for seating was clean and had good vibes. The food? Incredible. Very hefty portions, and the flavor was spot on. Love that they have finadene. My husband grew up on Guam, so he got super excited to see that they offered that, it was a nice touch! This may very well be our new go to spot, highly recommend! read more

Having never been to Hawaii I don't have much to which I can compare as far as authenticity is concerned, so take my opinion with a grain of flaked sea salt. My companion, however, has spent some time there and assures me this is solid, basic comfort food. This is a food truck in the somewhat unlikely location of a mechanic shop parking lot. Waze will absolutely take you to the wrong place but google maps will get you there. It's off the road a bit so you will not be able to see it from pond springs. There is a lot of parking available. Ordering works just like most other food trucks: walk up to the window, tell the person what you want. Pay for your order with card (idk if they accept cash?), and have a seat. This place will give you a beeper for when your order is ready. Take your beeper to the window and pick up your food. If you want to eat there, you have a cute lil astroturf patio where you can eat. There are patio tables and chairs, picnic tables, and even a toddler sized patio set. It's nice and shady during the day, and lit with string lights at night. If mosquitoes like you, it may be best to take your food to go, which is what I did, because they are legion. There is music piped in and the whole experience is delightful. We took our food home. It came in styrofoam with disposable cutlery. What I wanted was heartburn-inducing levels of garlic on my shrimp and lemme tell you that is exactly what I got. It was so good! The shrimp were not overdone, and the garlic level was all the way up. Wreck me with that. The macaroni had crunchy bits of carrot in it and the pasta was not mushy. The rice didn't have a whole lot of flavor to it but it's rice so idk what else to expect. My plate did not come with the finadene sauce. The loco moco is basically Salisbury steak with an egg on top. If that is something that appeals to you, you'll probably like this a lot. It's not for me, but my companion enjoyed theirs thoroughly. I enjoyed the experience and would go again, but I wasn't blown away. I do think, however, that was the point. When folks are looking for a taste of their home, they don't want someone to reinvent the wheel. They want what their mom would have made, and I think that's what this place delivers. read more

Holy smokes!!! I got the pacifically vegetarian and it was dynamite! The flavor on the tofu was amazing, that mac salad has been joined my dreams. Pro tip: just get an extra of that sauce, you'll want it because it is delicious. Absolutely fun music and the employees care so much about quality. Just go. read more

Placed an order online for pick up. Got a plate with rice 2 meats and 1 veggie. Got the shoyu chicken and the beef teriyaki. The beef was dry and didn't have much flavor to them. The chicken was a little bit much but still slightly dry. The Mac salad was good. The zucchini had tons of flavor but a bit salty due to the seasoning on it. Adobe Salmon - also slight dry and had decent flavor to it. Sadly our piece still had a bone in it. Grilled pineapple - fresh and sweet with a nice grill flavor to it. The area had one table at it, not sure if you can use the table on the other food truck spot or not. Tons of parking in the area and close to other food trucks as well. Not a lot of shade in this area so be prepared to be sitting outside or plan ahead and bring it home to eat. Food was ready at the correct time and pick up was simple. read more

3.5 Food was good Service was not great- it took an hour plus for everyone to get their food- not the employees fault (only one employee taking orders & cooking) Ambiance was nice (weather dependent) Sufficient parking in the area read more

First, the food was delicious. But, the wait was a bit long even though we were the only folks in line when we ordered. I like the selection of interesting beverages, too. But, I gave a two star demerit for the wait time and the fact that this business, as a reflection the Pacific, is serving food in styrofoam containers in spite of plastic inundation on every Pacific Island. That's a non-negotiable for us. Please, switch to paper goods for takeout. read more

Great outside service from the staff and delicious food!! Had a great time dinning and will most definitely go again

Drool worthy Hawaiian food up in Leander. We tried out Pacific Flame for some of our ono Friday night eats and for our first visit, decided to go all out to get the best of a variety of what this food truck has to offer! We typically stop by Shoyu sugar as it's 10 minutes from our house up north, so this wasn't too terrible of a drive for us to make out to the food trailers in Leander. Plenty of street parking and a family nomming dinner out in the tables for dining out, we placed our order online for the taste of the islands family sized menu which has a 45 minute prep time so order accordingly. We split this with 4 people and still had left overs to indulge with the next day and can't wait to return! My favorite was the mango and the salmon skewers, and the grilled avocado was also a hit for us in this house! Now I get to eat it all over again, and I'm excited for round 2! read more

Pacific Flame Island Grill - Taste of the Islands - Ohana Sampler - Hawaiian Near Me - Austin TX, Texas

So finding a really good Hawaiian restaurant in the Austin area is pretty impossible. I would like to think that I have a pretty good grasp on what good Hawaiian food is because I have gone multiple times to Hawaii with my mom, who grew up there. So when I saw this gem in our local paper, I had to know if this place was legit. Let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. The shoyu chicken skewer was fantastic. The chicken was not dried out and had a great flavor. The grilled pineapple had a nice flavor to it as well. I also got the garlic butter shrimp skewer, and it tasted great. Their mac salad is exactly how it is made in Hawaii, which is hard to find around here. The staff is super friendly and are very welcoming when you walk up to the window. The owner is from Maui, so she knows genuine Hawaiian grinds. This place may not be fancy, but it is genuine Hawaiian local fare, even up to the food truck. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed. read more

This place came up when i opened yelp. It look appealing, so ai gave it a shot. In a word, "AMAZING"! I could see the torches laminating in the dark as I drove down the long stretch of driveway leading to the food truck. "I really need to go back to Hawai'i", I tell myself. "I really need to move to Hawai'i", I tell my wife. We made our way back home and opened the containers of food on our dining table. After a few bites I was amazed. Very tastey. Very fresh. Very authentic. I highly recommend this place. Its very hard to find good in Austin. Everyone knows this. This is going to be one of my top goto places. read more

I was skeptical when I was asked to try this food truck, but mother of cats....I did not regret it! I had the adobo salmon (really good with their side sauce), shoyu chicken, garlic butter shrimp, grilled zucchini and grilled pineapple (don't judge the amount yet...safe that for later). Everything was awesome! So awesome in fact, we drove back after finishing our meal and ordered more that same night (please add judgement here). The staff is so friendly and the owner is right there cooking her recipes from Maui herself. Can't wait to try their brunch on Saturdays!!! Update: Just tried the teriyaki beef and it was just as good as everything else!! Doing breakfast tomorrow!! read more

Pacific Flame Island Grill - Teriyaki beef and garlic buttered shrimp - Hawaiian Near Me - Austin TX, Texas

Happened across this little gem while getting my truck serviced at the adjacent auto shop. It's definitely an interesting choice for location. You have to know it's there to find it, but when you do you're happy you did. The food is fantastic and the owner's quite charming & very hospitable. I really wanted to explore the menu, so I ordered several items to bring home to my wife and son for dinner. I got the Teri Beef, Soyu Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki, Teri Salmon and Dad's Spam & Cabbage. My least favorite item was the Teri Beef. The marinade is fantastic, but the steak is pretty chewy. While I didn't absolutely love it, I did enjoy the Spam and Cabbage. Next up the list was the Teri Salmon, really, really good. The stand out, as in grand slam home run, were both chicken dishes. The chicken has that delicious backyard Weber grill flavor and the sauces are incredible. They all came with rice and Hawaiian Mac salad. The rice was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of stickiness. The Mac salad was right on point as well. So much better than the grocery store deli counter variety which can be tasty but for some reason all seem to have that weird hint of bitterness. I didn't get any pictures, but what I was served looked exactly like the food pictured on their website. I obviously ordered way too much for dinner for three so we had leftovers. Everything was nearly just as enjoyable to snack on straight out of the fridge for the next few days as it was served fresh. Despite its unusual location, the dining area for this food truck is inviting. When the weather is nice as was during my visit, it's comfortable and the pacific vibe is enhanced by the island music coming through the speakers. The only thing that could've made it better would've been a nice Mai Tai! I'd love to see this place grow into a full restaurant. A week later I'm writing this review on a plane to Maui for vacation. If this trip hadn't been on the horizon I would've been back for a second or third round by now. I've been craving hard for that Chicken Soyu and Teriyaki Chicken. We dine out extremely often and Pacific Flame will now definitely be in our rotation. After many trips to Hawaii, I've really grown to love Spam&Eggs&Rice so I can't wait to also try the Mama's Spam Brunch. Mahalo PFIG and Aloha! read more

Food was delicious and service was super friendly! We'll be back whenever we're in Austin!

I ordered the Teri salmon and spam musubi, and both were phenomenal. The rice was fresh, the mac salad was delicious. Highly recommend!

This place has such delicious, well made food. They give great service, and you can either order food to take out or eat outside at the little turf lawn right there. The salmon is rich yet refreshing, the macaroni salad is very flavorful, the rice perfectly cooked, I'm definitely going to be eating here regularly. I enjoyed eating outside today as there was a beautiful blue dragonfly flying around, not getting in the food or anything, just hanging out. Best of all, the plates each are served with a Hawaiian sweet roll, the food of the gods (my church growing up used Hawaiian bread as communion bread). read more

I ordered the following items: - Chicken shoyu with salmon adobo as an add on - Mean Moco XXL (Loco moco with Kalua pork and spams) Unfortunately, they did not have any flavor. Growing up in west coast, I had the opportunity to eat lots of amazing Hawaiian food, so needless to say, I've been craving good Hawaiian food since moving to Austin. Unfortunately, unlike the other Hawaiian place in Austin, the food wasn't salty. However, it simply did not have enough flavor at all. Everything tasted super bland. The sauce of loco moco didn't have the nice beef stock flavor, and chicken shoyu didn't even have the nice charred flavor to it. I couldn't really taste the soy sauce either. read more

Wow, just wow!!! We recently got back from Oahu, Hawaii and were craving some Aloha food. This place is FANTASTIC! The chicken and steak are really tender and have nice pineapple undertones. The salmon was perfect, and the grilled fruits and veggies are soooop good. I would give them 10 stars if I could! The location is great, it's in the middle of a little food truck type park with neat areas to for the kids to run around and play in. I'm my opinion the food was ok.
