If you're looking for some Austin BBQ without all the waits of other spots, Stubb's is a solid option Downtown. My friend and I went on a Friday during peak dinner hours and didn't have to wait for a table. Unlike other places, this is a full table service spot. They also have tons of great event spaces - the amphitheater area looked very cool. Our server was so friendly and food all came out very quickly at Stubb's. We had seen Stubb's BBQ sauce in stores prior so were excited to try their eats, and found them to be decent. I was surprised they just had 1 BBQ Sauce offering knowing they have a line, and also it wasn't on every table but had to be asked for. While the flavor of the brisket and pork ribs were tasty, the brisket was too lean and way too dry. I just can't with dry barbeque! The Mac N Cheese was also decent, but not deliciously fantastic, same with the coleslaw. All the food we had was just A-OK without any standout items or bites. Cute place but I'm not running back for the eats.

A really great outdoor venue for SXSW. Have eaten here before and I think their bbq is the best in town. This time was outside for a concert for SXSW. Nice large area. Nice big trees of there in the summer. Had a wonderful breeze. Bar service was efficient and very friendly service.

Ate myself into a food coma ‍ Parking was readily available, I was easily able to get street parking despite it being a busy lunch hour. Staff was friendly, swift with service, and frequently checked in on me. Food was spectacular! I had Brisket with a side of onions & pickles, Fries and Banana Pudding for desert. Big portion, big happy The restaurant was huge, and you can really feel the culture and theme of Texas everywhere you go. 2 floors that I explored, and it looks like they have space for live music which I didn't experience but I hope that I do eventually. This spot is a home run, and I would highly recommend!!

Stubbs isn't the flashy other bbq spots, but it's reliable and has a variety of sides that will feel like home. We had the fried okra, potato salad, coleslaw, and creamed spinach. All of them were yummy and our sandwiches were typical bbq fare. Open a variety of hours Stubbs will be there for you, when you're craving , as other spots are insanely busy or have lines and run out.

This location is right in the heart of Austin and about 2 blocks from the hotel we were staying in. We tried the brisket, ribs, chicken, turkey, sausage, potato salad, mac and cheese, fried okra and creamed spinach. My favorites were the ribs, chicken (best smoked chicken I've ever had) and fried okra while my wife liked the ribs, sausage and creamed spinach. Synopsis... Get the ribs and chicken!!! We both thought the brisket was a little dry and lacked that peppery bark but overall some good BBQ for a fair price.

A must when in Austin ATX. I was within walking distance, it was 8 o'clock at night & I figured what the heck. I was promptly seated & quickly served. They close at 9pm, but I had plenty of time to enjoy my meal. I opted for an Angus Brisket Sandwich & it was packed full of meat. At each table is a bottle of Stubbs BBQ sauce. Needed for all this meat to go down. My two sides were creamed Spinach & their homemade potato salad. Tasty. I also added a mini loaf of their cornbread. I was so full that I didn't get a chance to eat it. It's a ToGo box for me to my hotel. Ambiance. Very rustic with cool posters on the wall with all their musical guests who have graced their musical talents upon the establishment. Thievery Corporation (right on). It's very hot in Herr but my waiter gave me this huge 32oz cup of ice water. This is in a great location. Three blocks away from Moody Amphitheater. I love Austin, it's just so dang hot & humid here. Bring a personal fan, ice packs & thin clothing. Until my next Yelp Travels

A fun atmosphere with some great beers on tap, generous portions, and tasty food. They are busy so you may want to get there early and plan accordingly but it was a fun and vibrant spot and worth the hype and the experience of it - especially for out of towners.

Good BBQ here...usually. This time , I ordered the same plate as usual, the smoked turkey with smoked brisket. I've never had such a fatty serving of brisket. It wasn't trimmed at all. My advise: stick with the turkey. If had a good smoke and was tender. There are numerous sides to choose from.

Attended an event that was hosted at Stubb's and had an amazing time!!! We had brisket, ribs, sausages, chicken and salmon for protein. Sides included potato salad, green beans, slaw, and biscuits; pecan pie for dessert. Honestly came into the event with somewhat low expectations for food, but was definitely blown away! The ribs were the highlight for me -- fall off the bone tender! Brisket in my opinion was average (wouldn't go back for seconds), and chicken was just in between. Potato salad was also solid. The actual event space was great, supers spacious, lots of good seating available and the two bars outside had fast service too. Overall the vibe here was fabulous and would definitely look forward to events here in the future!

We were staying accross the street and decided to come into Stubbs for a late lunch. We split the two meat plate. Ordered potato salad and onion rings. The batter on the onion rings was like a beer batter. They were good. I got creamed spinach on the side and it was delicious. They only gave us ONE piece of bread for a two meat plate!!!! Also it would have been nice to have a variety of bbq sauces to choose from. But we only had one option that was on the table. The turkey was dry and I wish it had more flavor. The brisket was fine. Nothing to brag about. They did have some local beer on tap and the service was super quick!

Such a great experience eating here! The meats are EXCELLENT! They know how to season and cook them perfectly. We ordered the 3-meats combo, which turned out to be a perfect choice for two hungry adults. The 3 sides are great choices as well, they helped to change the palate between different bites of the meats. The biggest difference compared to my lunch at Terry Black, is that Stubbs is so well managed and organized for you to sit down to have an enjoyable meal. Believe me- I asked many people how they enjoyed eating in a chaotic & overwhelmingly noisy and crowded love, NOBODY really enjoyed the meal they way they would or could. I personally also enjoy the fact that they don't just dump tons of salt in their food. Oh, don't forget to try their banana pudding before you go.

I've been here a few times. Service is always very good and very speedy. I love the spareribs and pulled pork, not so much with the brisket. Didn't love the spinach but really enjoy the mac & cheese.

Got a chopped beef sandwich at a concert and maybe I was a bit biased from the immaculate vibes but it was probably one of the top beef bbq sandwiches I've had in my life. It really hits different when you have the music

The inside seating is grab your own picnic tables or share with others. They have a huge outside dining area with additional seating. Also, they have a bar area to sit at. They do have other merchandise for sale like beef jerky, bbq sauce, etc. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. Complimentary stewed beans, bbq sauce, jalapeño, pickles, onions, and bread. For dinner, I ordered the... Beef Rib - really tender, yet firm enough to stay on the bone. A good beefy bbq flavor and smokiness. Brisket - The brisket was tender, smokey, melt in your mouth delicious! The fat cap was was so good. LOL. I liked the Brisket a lot better than the Beef Rib. Mac-N-Cheese (bacon & jalapeño topping) - the noodles were cooked well and the cheese was cream and perfectly coated each noodle. The crisp bacon & jalapeño topping was free and no extra charge, really boasted this side. Banana Pudding - a classic southern dessert done well. Sweet Tea - We're in Texas, nothing beats the heat better than cold Sweet Tea. Others in my group who ordered said that the Roast Chicken was good. Unfortunately, the smoked Turkey was dry. The restaurant has a classic look (wood, brick, and ducts), and the menu - meats priced by the pound on a chalkboard - adds to the retro appeal. Those meats are cut to order by a pitmaster. After making your selection, you proceed down a cafeteria-style line and pick your sides. Sauce, pickles, and Wonder Bread are free. We opted for some brisket, a jalapeno sausage link, potato salad, and creamed corn. The brisket was tender and flavorful if a bit fatty while the sausage boasted a firm bite and a winning combination of spicy and cheesy. Unexpectedly, the creamed corn ended up being a highlight. If that's a side you usually avoid, Cooper's version may end up converting you. That said, the potato salad was nothing special and the sauce was very tomato-and-vinegar-forward. As to be expected given Cooper's location and reputation, prices are also quite high (as in almost $40 a pound for brisket). That's not outrageous for a "name" BBQ place in Austin though if I had to pay that after waiting in a long line, I might walk away disappointed. Cooper's is not the best Texas BBQ you're likely to find, but it's a pretty damn solid representation thereof.

Brisket Taco ($9): The brisket was a bit dry but the slice was pretty thick and it paired well with the acidity of the pickles. Carne G Taco ($6): Super cheesy and heavy. When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. You order at the open kitchen and then pay at the counter when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you can take your food and sit at any of their tables of which they have many (this place is pretty big). It consisted of three meats, two sides, and a dessert along with pickles, onions, bread, and BBQ sauce. There was also a set of utensils delivered, but plates were forgotten, but not a big deal. Brisket - This was definitely the best item eaten of the day. It was tender and juicy while adding the BBQ sauce giving that extra bite. The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.
