Ambiance - The building itself and the ambience 10/10. Service - Terrible from start to finish. Our waitress took a little over 10 min to greet us and take our drink order. A drink runner brought the drinks and we didn't see the waitress again for over 30 min. We had to ask other staff members if they could get her to begin placing an order. She showed up 5 or so min later and took our food order - she even wrote it down. 20 min go by and she asked if we were ready to order. We told her we already had and she asked us to remind her what got & walked off in a rush. I had to use the restroom so I went the same direction and saw her feverishly punching in our order because she had completely forgot. We then didn't see her again until well after we were done and looking around for our check. We again had to ask someone to find her. We chalked it all up to an off day and do hope she was ok! Food - Crispy boar ribs were freaking amazing! Our whole table thought those were the highlight of the entire night. Everything else was just ok and the 3 bbq sauce options weren't our preference on taste. Besides those bison ribs - nothing about our meal was gourmet. If cool vibes and ambiance is what you're looking for I say check this place out. If it's killer bbq and service I would definitely not recommend.

good sit down table service restaurant format for bbq. we came on a super quiet night so not that many diners and staff are relatively attentive. I do think the food is very pricey for the quality / not a value destination. Crispy wild boar ribs is a must have!! And I would come back here for that again, but nothing else. The baby back ribs is mehhh at best - the meat is not really holding together, country style ribs are much better. Ok pickles; everything was sort of salty...

We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and were lucky enough to snag the last two seats at the downstairs bar. We kicked things off with two cocktails, and both were excellent. The bartenders were attentive and friendly without being pushy, which made the experience even more enjoyable. After drinks, we ordered the Spiced Gulf Prawns. WOW, these were a standout. Perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. If you're dining at Lamberts, these are a must-try. We wrapped up the meal by splitting the Wood Grilled Cheeseburger. It was flavorful, juicy, and more than enough food for the two of us to share. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Lamberts is definitely worth visiting. Next time we plan to try the upstairs bar with live music.

Yummy barbeque meats and the decor is nice! Got the brisket and pork ribs and the mac and cheese and potato salad. Loved everything. Also loved the queso burnt ends!

When the Locals Argue, You Know It's Good. Came to Austin on a work trip and our local guys were in a heated debate - Terry Black's versus Lambert's. (Cooper's was in the mix too, but already knocked that off the list on a previous trip.) Lambert's won the argument, and I'm not complaining. The spot is housed in an old brick building with live music and a serious bar slinging good selection of bourbons and cocktails. But let's be real - we went straight for the meats. Brisket, hot links, lamb, ribs - the whole lineup. Tender, juicy, cooked just right, falling off the bone. They've got a selection of sauces, but honestly, the meat doesn't need much help. The sides are a decent size. Like, each one could be a meal on its own - but then I am a light weight compared to Texas sizes. Great service. We had a friendly bar tender, who pushed some interesting versions of his cocktails on our group. Our server was pretty knowledgable about the meats, and guided us well. Come for the food, and once those belt buckles need to get loosened up after your meal, stay for some music and drinks

Insanely delicious meal, the boar ribs were a must get appetizer! This is a cool casual but elevated vibe for BBQ. Very fun to be right downtown. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options, I encourage getting a reservation to ensure a table quickly on the weekends. However, walkins are accepted. The staff were all extremely nice but it was very slow to get our items/bill on a busy Friday night.

Probably one of best bbq place I ever been to. Fast and excellent service. I would come to this place when I visit here again.

Came to Lamberts during happy hour and it was amazing! We sat at the bar, which I believe is the only spot you can order happy, and there were about 8/10 places to sit. (upstairs was close for a private event but might be more sitting up there) Drinks were okay. A little sweet for me BUT the food was incredible. We got the following: - queso with burnt ends - red snapper ceviche - chopped beef sandwich - crispy green beans All of them were soooo yummy and they were very big portions. Also the price is amazing! Would definitely recommended their happy hour!

This is a fun fine/casual dining restaurant with lots of options to choose from. Dress up or down. Great place for a date or bring the whole family. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was pleasant. Kids were there and they also enjoyed the music. I really enjoyed the beet salad, salmon and while the ceviche had vinegar in it instead of citrus, it was still good. My friend Ms enjoyed their food too and the macaroni and cheese was pure heaven. We're definitely coming back. The prices are bit steep but I guess everything has gone up these days. They have a different lunch menu than the dinner menu. Keep that in mind if you're looking at the menu online to make sure you're viewing the correct menu. Bon appétit!

Three BBQ Meats (brisket, ribs, and Texas hot link) with slaw and mac & cheese
    Christopher P.

TLDR: Lamberts offers stylish vibes, but the BBQ falls flat. Small portions, bland brisket and ribs, tough sausage, and underwhelming sides make it hard to justify the high prices. Overview: Lamberts is not your typical Texas BBQ joint. Housed in a historic building with exposed brick and a full bar, it functions as a sit-down restaurant rather than a traditional BBQ spot with counter service. The vibe is fun and polished with friendly service. Since it's downtown, you will need to find parking on your own. Food: I came for lunch and ordered the three-meat plate with two sides ($26): brisket, ribs, and the Texas hot link, with slaw and mac & cheese. Portions are small: two thin brisket slices and a singular rib. The brisket arrived moist (without being asked lean vs. moist), with a solid texture, but it was relatively bland. I was expecting a pronounced smoky flavor, a peppery bark, and beefy depth, none of which really showed up here. The rib was tender but lacked flavor in the same way as the brisket. The hot link was juicy, but its casing was so tough it became difficult to eat. Unfortunately, the sides didn't redeem the meal either. The slaw was serviceable but bland; the cashews add a soft crunch but little flavor. The mac & cheese looked great with its browned breadcrumb cap, yet the sauce underneath was watery and too salty. I finished with the Texas gold cake. It was texturally pleasant, with a nice cream cheese custard and a bright lemon cream, but the raspberry jam on the side was mostly sweet without adding anything to the dish. At $14 for a small slice, it's hard to recommend. Final Thoughts: As a destination for cocktails in a stylish room, Lamberts may hit the mark. As a BBQ stop, especially in a city where by-the-pound counters set a high bar, the flavors and portions don't even remotely justify the price. If you're seeking a leisurely sit-down experience with a full bar, this fits. If you're chasing standout Texas BBQ, you'll likely leave disappointed.

Essentially an upscale barbecue spot. We were given complimentary mini-cornbreads that were pretty good. We had the sausage, brisket, and ribs. No complaints on the food as it was all pretty good with the brisket being my favorite. The service here is pretty good and everyone is helpful and friendly.

Brisket Taco ($9): The brisket was a bit dry but the slice was pretty thick and it paired well with the acidity of the pickles. Carne G Taco ($6): Super cheesy and heavy. The flavors weren't bad but I felt pretty gross after eating one and it left me really bloated.

This spot was close to my hotel, and on my departure day, I decided to have one last hit of Q. It's a big restaurant, and it appears to also be quite the music venue. When I went, a little on the early side for a Friday dinner, there was not a wait and I was sat immediately. My server was attentive, and got me in, fed, and back out in plenty of time to catch my already delayed flight. I ordered their 3 meat combo plate, which also came with two sides, and added on a piece of cornbread. I chose brisket of course, as well as turkey and sausage. The server recommended the serrano pepper spinach (like a creamed spinach) and onion rings, and I took those recs. The best of the three meats was the turkey. Not a good sign. It was moist and tender, though not particularly smokey. Even so, I enjoyed it more than the brisket and sausage, which I would have guessed the reverse when ordering. The brisket was on the dry side and kind of bland, it did not smack of being freshly carved. The Stubbs BBQ sauce helped me eat some of it... now I see why they are famous for their sauce. I had a couple bites of the sausage and pushed it aside, I didn't enjoy their recipe on that at all. It was cooked seemingly well, but the blend of spices and meat they use wasn't pleasant to me. The sides, the onion rings were very crispy which I like, but again... something in the batter. Maybe even the oil they were cooked in, I did not enjoy as much. The spinach was actually quite enjoyable, maybe even a little rich. I think if it were warmer, if might help milden out some of that. It was really thick. The cornbread wasn't worth the add-on. No sweetness or anything to make it memorable. Vessel for butter. The portion was massive, and I had leftover food, but did not take it... and that would have been the case even if I wasn't headed to the airport. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. You order at the open kitchen and then pay at the counter when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you can take your food and sit at any of their tables of which they have many (this place is pretty big). My department is hosting a baby shower (at work), and our mom-to-be had one request: Franklin's BBQ. SO what mama wants, mama gets! Knowing my anxiety wasn't going to let me stand in the famous line, I placed a preorder and scheduled a pickup time. Best. Decision. Ever. When I arrived, I saw the long line outside and immediately felt validated. I drove around back and was thrilled to find dedicated parking for pre-order pickups. There was also a covered waiting area with seating, picnic tables with umbrellas, and a very organized check-in process. I gave them my name, and they started preparing my order while I waited. Inside, they have a great selection of merchandise, from hats, patches, keychains, and engraved YETIs to playing cards, trays, and even adorable baby onesies and toddler T-shirts. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. While waiting, I mentioned I live in the Mueller neighborhood, and they told me about their new location (private event) nearby that I'd noticed while out walking. One of my favorite parts of the visit was chatting with another customer. Her family had flown from San Francisco to Houston, driven to Austin, spent around $2,000 on Franklin Barbecue, and planned to pack it in coolers with ice packs before driving back to Houston to catch their flight home. It was all for her brother's 40th birthday. That's when it really hit me how iconic this place is. People literally travel across the country just for this barbecue. When my order was ready, everything was packed perfectly with all the fixings. They even included a thoughtful little gift for the mom-to-be, which was such a sweet and unexpected touch. The hardest part was driving to work with that incredible smell filling my car. And then there was the brisket. Wow. It absolutely lived up to the hype. It was tender, juicy, perfectly smoky, and unquestionably the star of the meal. Every bite practically melted in your mouth. After finally tasting it for myself, I have to admit, it might actually be worth waiting in that famous line. We made our own sides to accommodate everyone, including gluten-free cornbread, regular cornbread, homemade mac and cheese, and fresh fruit cups. The barbecue was the centerpiece of a wonderful baby shower full of games and laughter, and it made our first-time mom's celebration even more special. If you've been avoiding Franklin because you don't want to stand in line, don't overlook the preorder option. It was easy, organized, and completely stress-free. I'll definitely be doing it this way again.

I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.

Really great place for groups grabbing a beer and some sausages! So much seating available inside…read moreand outside. You are able to order off QR codes on each table for food and drinks so makes it really easy for big groups. Tons of beer options and the bartenders are knowledgeable on each. I tried the sausage sampler with the currywurst, drunk chicken, and jalapeño cheddar. My favorites were in that order. They each came with a dipping sauce to complement them and some fries. Really great way to try a few sausages and share with a group of 4. Only downside is they don't have any TVs for sports game. Still a great place for some day drinking and conversations.

When they delivered the food I only received the Italian and salad. They said the salad cancelled the fries and mash potatoes. That means the "side salad" cost as much or more than the sausage! Worse yet, the peppers and onions didn't even cover half the sausage! I wish I would have taken a picture. One of the worst meals and interactions I've ever had at a restaurant. I would not recommend it to anyone. They force you to pay them a tip before your order is even submitted. They would have gotten nothing if they used a regular system. Their ordering and payment process is a scam.
