People...the hype is real!!! We purchased a turkey leg, sausage, brisket (what they're known for) and chicken. We also got two sides of potato salad and dirty rice. I am not a big fan of brisket. However, the owner allowed me to have a sample of the brisket. I fell quickly, madly in love with the brisket. The brisket is so flavorful, tender and moist. So, so good!!! Next, I tried the turkey leg. The meat literally fell off the bone. Yummy to the Nth degree!!! Now, let me talk about this sausage...I have never eaten sausage this good. The sausage was (yes was...we ate it all!) dense, yet moist and super tasty. This sausage did not have a spec of grease. I think I ate most of the sausage. The chicken was also super moist and tender...made you want to slap yourself. The sides were good, however, the standouts without a doubt were the meats. The owner/chef was very personable, and highlighted the preparations associated with his menu items. He created a welcoming and chill environment... I am never disappointed anytime I stop in my old neighborhood to grab something to eat. These quesadillas with brisket are so on point. You must get two, it just taste better that way. The gentleman that server always nice and pleasant to work with. They fill up my bag with all the necessary trimmings to assure that I eat well. Today I grabbed a half a pound of ribs and the quesadillas. Some of the food did make it home, lol. And I ate the rest of the food during the course of my day with some added veggies. We are twice a year visitors to the area and are always down for some good bbq. I looked up this place and it had 4.8 out of 5 with a one $ so we decided to try it. The food truck/trailer area was a little confusing so I called and got a quick courteous response as to where they were. Lunch crowd was steady and the food was excellent. We had the brisket sandwich, brisket quesadillas and tacos along with potato salad. Everything was great. Covered/uncovered picnic tables there for customers to use. Casual outdoor atmosphere. Oh man this BBQ trailer is da bomb, people. I was really happy with everything I got here. The chicken and dirty rice - wow. I just love their dirty rice!! It's got bits of meat in it, smoky, full of flavor, it's really the best dirty rice I've ever had and I cannot get enough! An explosion of flavors. The ribs were awesome too! The smoked chicken wings are a special they do on certain days - wow! So flavorful and smokey good! The brisket was really good too, and the collard greens - wow! Lots of bits of bacon in it and it was just bursting with flavor. I love their bbq sauce - it's slightly sweet and thick and you can drink it with a straw. On some days they do a pork steak - that was really smokey good and had a nice crisp to it. I went back a few times here, it's a family of brothers who are originally from Louisiana that run this trailer and they do a fascinating job. We loved their mac n cheese too. If you've got a name like Bigg Belly, you've got a lot to live up to in terms of expectations, not to mention the slough of high ratings from Yelpers. This food truck sits in a lot with a group of other food trucks with various offerings (Mexican, Mediterranean, etc.) so chances are that if you're going out with picky eaters, they will have a good likelihood of finding something that they want to eat. On my first visit there, I was unable to sample the brisket as a customer bought up their entire stock earlier in the day (that's a couple hundred dollars in meat!) so I satisfied myself with sausage, ribs, and the smoked chicken and dirty rice. Sausage was okay, nothing to write home about but the chicken was nicely smoked and paired well with the spices in the rice. Helpings were very generous and in line with the pricing. Ribs seemed to be more of the St. Louis type with thick cuts of meat on the bones. They were tender and moderately juicy. My second visit there let me finally sample the brisket and I have to say, it was a bit of a letdown. My brisket came with both lean and moist cuts. The portions cut from the near the fat cap were delicious and succulent with the kind of moisture I prefer. However, the lean was overcooked and crumbly, way too dry to be enjoyable. They have one kind of sauce that seems to be ketchup-based, nothing special nor particularly flavorful. That was a disappointment as most BBQ restaurants have at least the choice of a regular and a hot sauce (that can be mixed to give you a third option). Without a good sauce the brisket here just doesn't stand on its own. Overall, the food is alright but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit here. With a little more consistency on the brisket texture and moisture, it would probably get to be a favorite but they have some work to do. read more

For my first time here I can say the food is excellent. The ribs where fall of the bone and super tender . There wasn't a dry piece in the whole bunch . The smoke was perfect and didn't take away from the bbq as a whole . I'm a sucker for good bbq and like most native Texans I am picky as hell when it comes to proper BBQ . OK, I'll admit: The brisket taco doesn't *look* big for $5. But I will 100% come back here. Texas has some stiff competition for proper BBQ. Interstellar BBQ is only a few minutes away from Bigg Belly BBQ. The line on a Friday afternoon for Interstellar was an hour (according to people waiting in line), but we just walked up to Bigg Belly BBQ (about 1pm) and ordered straight away. They were friendly and fast. It was Proper BBQ. The brisket was delicious and tender, and my husband's only regret was that he did not order a double portion of brisket. The sauce was spicey but not prohibitively spicey. I especially enjoyed the beans as a side. We had a shady table to eat at, which is a real bonus for food trucks. So, so, so good. I think i got a thigh, a drumstick, and I'm honestly not totally brushed up on chicken anatomy, so there was a third piece, maybe an A cup chicken breast? I was Born and Raised in the ATX and BBQ is literally part of my DNA so believe me when I say that this place is LE-Git! I loved the turkey leg! Even as I was opening the foil it was already coming off of the bone. The onions, whole garlic and seasoning is an unbelievable explosion of flavor in your mouth. It was so good my friend had to order one for the road. He ordered a chopped beef sandwich which was unsurpassable! The hours on Yelp and Google aren't accurate so I'd recommend coming for lunch since they seem to sell out before dinner. I was feeling something lighter today and got the chicken and rice. Chicken was seasoned well and had a nice smoky flavor and the dirty rice was flavorful with chunks of ground meat as well. A little disappointed with the portion of chicken but there was plenty of rice and it was still a good value for only $9. Next time I might try ordering a half pound of chicken ($5) and a side of rice ($4) and see if there's more chicken and less rice.
