Sliced Pork Loin sandwich, sliced jalapeño sausage, coleslaw and potato salad.
    James K.

I've seen this place a few times when I come to this shopping center but nothing caught my attention so I mostly ignored it. But recently it was lunch time and I thought why not try. The reviews are mixed and I figured I was taking a chance but I'll never know unless I give it a try. I'm new to Texas but not a new "foodie" and I've tried several of the typical BBQ places everyone talks about and I want to try some of the places that not as many people know about. Each time I've been here (I've already come back from the first visit) I'm greeted by the staff who are very friendly and welcoming. They have much of the traditional servings you would expect to find at a BBQ restaurant and for my first visit, I ordered the jalapeño sausage and the pork loin sandwich and for my sides, I had the coleslaw and potato salad. You can order the meats by the pound or as a meal with sides. The pork loin came sliced on a soft bun. They serve a pretty generous portion on the sandwich and the meat is cooked perfectly. Not dry at all and quite tender. For my own personal taste, I put coleslaw atop the meat and drizzled some of their signature BBQ sauce and this was heaven! I was not impressed by the jalapeño sausage. It was cooked okay, but the sausage just didn't seem to have much flavor to it. And for the sides, the coleslaw tasted as if it was made with real buttermilk. I've read people comment about how you can't mess up coleslaw but this is so far from the truth and I could name a dozen places where their version of coleslaw is simply chopped up cabbage. This coleslaw is amazing. And the potato salad is like something traditional my family made a long time ago and served at a picnic. It's amazing! The pork loin sandwich was so good, I ordered the brisket sandwich and chopped beef sandwich to go. I brought those home and they didn't last long around the family! So, the food was so amazing, I went back the next day and we bought SIX sandwiches and a large order of the coleslaw. And as before, those sandwiches didn't last long. We even bought a bottle of their signature BBQ sauce which hands down, is one of the BEST from any of the BBQ places we have dined at since arriving in Texas. Someone commented on how their sauce isn't spicy and no flavor; that person couldn't have possibly tried this sauce because it's simply one of the best! I'm surprised I don't see this sauce in stores but I'll be buying some and sending it back home to friends and family as gifts. I'm a big iced-tea (unsweetened) person and they serve a delicious freshly brewed iced tea. They even have their own cups and if you come back they give $1 refills. The only comment I have is the cup... it's a nice solid plastic cup, but it's too big to fit into a traditional cup holder in your car, so it's not very conducive for taking it with you. I hope in the future they will change their custom cups to the ones that will fit in a car cup holder. These are pretty common these days and I can't believe they are any more expensive than the cups they currently use. From the outside it might look a little unassuming, but DO NOT pass this place up! If you are looking for some really good Texas BBQ, you won't be disappointed here. And you need to get a bottle of the sauce! We've been twice in two days and will be back to try some of the other meats.

I have so many good things to say about this place that I don't know where to start. Well, let's start with the food then, the bbq is delicious, the sides are great and the servings are more than enough. Now the environment of this place is what makes me want to go back over and over. Simple, but sparkly clean, small tv on the corner with the volume low just for you to have something to look at or hear while you eat. Well decorated, in general it reminds me of the times where I didn't have nothing to worry about and brings me peace. Last but not least is the staff, very professional and helpful. I hope you get to feel the same vibe as I do when you're here.

    Brisket

I'm not here to shame anyone, but the food here isn't exactly Texas BBQ. The brisket is more or less roast beef thats been cooked for 6 hours too long, no smoke ring and pieces couldn't be picked up without crumbling (0 bend or pull). The sausage and turkey weren't great, but the baked potato is something people would enjoy. Overall I'm confused on the location, but I assume it's more of a catering business. There are a few other good BBQ spots in the area worth trying if this one doesn't fit your liking.

    Chopped brisket on potatoes

After MONTHS of wanting to stop by, we finally headed over for lunch on a chilly, rainy day. The chopped brisket on potato was the perfect bad weather snack. Fresh, packed with my beloved carbs, offered tons of tasty flavors, and was the size of my head. We bought a little extra brisket to use when we reheated it and it made for another very tasty and filling meal. The side of Mac and cheese was tasty and homemade. The employees were AWESOME and worked with us to make sure we got the best possible meal combo for lunch! The only disappointment was the peach cobbler. I LOVE my desserts but unfortunately this just didn't do it for me. The peaches were floating around in a thick, gel-ly sauce and some graham cracker crumbles were sprinkled on top, then it was put into their mini fridge. It just didn't taste or feel like a cobbler to me.

smokey mo's really could step up their taco game. I get them very often and there's always pale, stringy, stretchy pieces of bacon that i have to tear off in order to eat which leaves me with very little bacon left. it's disappointing and disgusting. the salsa is great though. game changer. even an air fryer would work?

The food was freshly made. The customer service was great. We ordered breakfast tacos and coffee. It was very fulfilling, and it hit the spot.

As a recipient of the prestigious Texas Monthly Top 100 BBQ Award, the expectations were high--and for the most part, they were met. The venue itself provides a fantastic, relaxed vibe, complete with plenty of TVs and a music stage, making it the perfect spot for chilling out on a lazy afternoon or settling in for an evening hang. The Main Event: Pitmaster Excellence The true test of a Texas BBQ joint is the holy trinity, and here, they nailed the fundamentals: * Brisket: This was Texas BBQ as it should be. The brisket was super juicy, delivered a profound, deep flavor, and possessed a flawless, great bark that spoke to hours of skillful smoking * Spare Ribs: A study in contrast and texture. The ribs offered a satisfying "good pull"--firm enough to bite but still falling cleanly off the bone. The thick, peppery bark was beautifully balanced by a slight sweetness from a pepper jelly glaze, adding a layer of sophisticated flavor you don't always find. * Pork Belly Burnt Ends: These were pure decadence. Each bite provided a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth experience with a distinct and welcome hint of Fierce Whiskers bourbon woven into the smoky, fatty flavor. They are so rich and irresistible, you know you shouldn't eat too many, but good luck stopping. * Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage: This locally sourced link brought the heat with a good level of spice. The flavor was excellent, though the texture leaned slightly toward the processed side, which was the only minor drawback among the meats. The Supporting Cast: Sides A great plate of BBQ requires sides that stand up to the meat, and while two of these were stars, one needs a little work. * Mac & Cheese: An absolute winner. It was cheesy, creamy, and featured an excellent smoked flavor that permeated the dish. The slightly charred edges added a delightful textural counterpoint. * Hash Brown Casserole: This was a surprisingly strong contender, offering a nice assembly of savory flavors. The secret weapon was the corn flake topping, providing an unexpected but welcome crunch, complemented by a satisfying hint of bacon. * Creamed Corn: Unfortunately, this side was the weakest link. It tasted primarily bland, despite a slight peppery note. It desperately needs some fresh jalapeños mixed in to cut through the creaminess and add the essential Texas kick. Final Verdict The meat selection here is truly Top 100 worthy, excelling in technique, flavor, and execution (especially the Brisket and Burnt Ends). The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed gathering. While the Creamed Corn missed the mark, the stellar Hash Brown Casserole and Smoked Mac & Cheese prove that their side game is usually strong. Come for the high-quality, authentic Texas barbecue, stay for the great outdoor patio.

This spot was close to my hotel, and on my departure day, I decided to have one last hit of Q. It's a big restaurant, and it appears to also be quite the music venue. When I went, a little on the early side for a Friday dinner, there was not a wait and I was sat immediately. My server was attentive, and got me in, fed, and back out in plenty of time to catch my already delayed flight. I ordered their 3 meat combo plate, which also came with two sides, and added on a piece of cornbread. I chose brisket of course, as well as turkey and sausage. The server recommended the serrano pepper spinach (like a creamed spinach) and onion rings, and I took those recs. The best of the three meats was the turkey. Not a good sign. It was moist and tender, though not particularly smokey. Even so, I enjoyed it more than the brisket and sausage, which I would have guessed the reverse when ordering. The brisket was on the dry side and kind of bland, it did not smack of being freshly carved. The Stubbs BBQ sauce helped me eat some of it... now I see why they are famous for their sauce. I had a couple bites of the sausage and pushed it aside, I didn't enjoy their recipe on that at all. It was cooked seemingly well, but the blend of spices and meat they use wasn't pleasant to me. The sides, the onion rings were very crispy which I like, but again... something in the batter. Maybe even the oil they were cooked in, I did not enjoy as much. The spinach was actually quite enjoyable, maybe even a little rich. I think if it were warmer, if might help milden out some of that. It was really thick. The cornbread wasn't worth the add-on. No sweetness or anything to make it memorable. Vessel for butter. The portion was massive, and I had leftover food, but did not take it... and that would have been the case even if I wasn't headed to the airport. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. You order at the open kitchen and then pay at the counter when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you can take your food and sit at any of their tables of which they have many (this place is pretty big). I got almost to the front of the line around 1230pm and they were already almost out of ribs, so go early. I got a 1/2lb of Brisket, 1/4lb of turkey, 3 bones of ribs, and one link of the jalapeño cheddar sausage, my side I did was potato salad. I'll give my honest review down below on each item. Brisket- 1000/10, best I have ever had. It was well seasoned, juicy, smoky, fatty in the right way and just so tender and delicious. Spectacular. Turkey- another 1000/10, it's so juicy and and tender. They season it but not heavily which is great since Turkey is a mild tasting meat. I would definitely get this again! Ribs- 6/10, and I love ribs. To me the seasoning on these was so thick it just overpowered the taste of the pork. All I could taste was pepper on it. It was good but I would personally pass on this item next time. Sausage- 1000/10, again so good. It was spicy due to the jalapeños but not overly, the cheese was nice and there was a good snap to the casing. The smoke added a nice touch to the fattiness of the sausage. Potato salad- 3/10, to me this was not a good take on potato salad. Not much texture in it like celery or something like that and all I could taste was vinegar. I like acid in my food but this is all I could taste. So it wasn't for me. Overall when I go next time I will be loading up on brisket, turkey and sausage! These items are amazing, maybe try another side, their beans looked really good. GO OUT AND EAT SOME BBQ!!

The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.
