Okay... backup plan, we asked for the Alamo, but no sliced brisket either, so can't make that. At that point it's like, why are y'all running a restaurant if key items aren't available? Super annoying. Thankfully it was Wednesday, so they had the $1 wing special. Got a 10 piece, half Honey T and half Spicy BBQ. Keeping with the theme of disappointment, no complimentary dip with a 10 piece wing order, which is kind of wild. That said, the wings were amazing. Crunch was on point, quality was there. I'd definitely come back on a Wednesday just for those. My food is always fresh and seasoned. I got the mild wings today. They were tasty and I was able to get extra sauce on the side with no problem. I've have had the fish too and it was good. Quite honestly, I was a bit hyped about dining at TatetQue. It's a vibe with sultry music playing in the background and a funky, cool interior. I was at TaterQue so I am going to have a spud. The seafood spud shrimp, crab and crawfish sounded good with Alfredo sauce on the side. It was not the typical large spud but a lot of small white new potatoes. It was extremely large, flavorful with lots of meat on the top layer. My honey cornbread was divine and I could have had a solo cornbread meal. I sampled my friend's brisket and fried wings. For a non-red meat lover most days, I was not enamored with the brisket. The honey bbq chicken wings, conversely, were the standout...soft crispy with perfect balance of bbq sauce and seasoning. I liked the honey biscuit but it was a bit dry in the center. Service was 24 carat gold southern hospitality. The cashier made me feel like I was visiting family. Amazing food we even came back a couple days later. It was so good. We had the tater Mac that was delicious for an appetizer. We also had the big Jack, which was exactly what we expected. The folks at Taterque know what they're doing and seem to love doing it. We only saw smiles from the second we walked in. The woman with the blonde hair (I'm so sorry I didn't catch her name) was so lovely. She was kind, she was knowledgeable, and she answered any questions we had. She helped us even though she was also bussing tables. Please tell her that she's awesome! As for the food The wings: Amazing! Probably the best I've had in Austin. Crunchy, flavorful, moist, it's what a perfect wing should be The cornbread: I can eat 400 of these back to back The catfish: our 1 year old son ate the whole thing. All of it. He's never had catfish before but I think he likes it, or at least the way Taterque does it. It's the most I've seen him eat in a while. Finally the oxtail: we live 45 min away and I'd drive up every other day if I could just for this oxtail. There's good stuff cooking in P-Ville. Say hello to TaterQue! I finally had the chance to stop in and try this restaurant. It was a cold night and a fully loaded spud was just what we needed. We also ordered a bbq sandwich which was also large and tasty. They offer quite a few of fully and creatively loaded spud options, but I built my own. It was huge and delicious. I also got to chatting with the staff while I waited and discovered that they have a karaoke night. It was happening that night as many tables with primo locations were reserved. I was really disappointed with the food. I expected the food to be fresh, but that wasn't the case. The 3 piece catfish and the wings both had the exact same taste, which makes me think everything was cooked in the same oil. Unfortunately, the oil also seemed old, giving the food a heavy stale flavor,the food was hard to enjoy because of the overpowering taste from the oil. Walked in and it was busy! It was Saturday at about 6:45. There were I think 3 empty tables not large enough for us (only 3) and 1 with 4 seats that was dirty. But again, we ordered a lot and I noticed others who ordered less got their food quickly, they brought ours all at once. The boudin balls were just ok, I didn't care for the sauce on them and the tater kegs were good but not a must get for me. The RoggeLane was mouthwatering!!! Literally drooled while taking a bite.
