As a Cali resident visiting Texas, I don't know the area at all but it seems like this place is located in a run-down plaza. The restaurant is located at the end of the lot at the front. Their specialty is the spuds. To me they are semi-mashed baked potatoes. They come in two sizes, Jr and Mega. I ordered the Jr Springdale which has shrimp, crab & crawfish with alfredo sauce. The flavor was underwhelming. The shrimp seems like it was frozen not fresh. The crab was ok but I couldn't tell if I had any bites of crawfish or not. I had to put a lot of hot sauce and black pepper. I think the portion could have been a smidge bigger as I was able to finish it. My bf got the Jr Big Jack. It comes with one beef rib, brisket and sausages. He picked mild over spicy bbq sauce. The brisket was tender but since they were sliced to small, they were clumped together forming a mushy consistency. The bbq sauce was not bad, definitely on the mild side. The sausage was the best thing at the table. It was full of flavor with a little bit of spice. They have Wing Wednesday specials. The lemon pepper with spicy ranch sounds intriguing. They also have cupcakes and cookies by the cash register. We sat outside in their patio as the a/c inside was blasting. It wasn't freezing but sorry, I'm a Californian- it was pretty cold to me! They had a little karaoke thing set up by the door but the poor lady DJ ended up singing by herself :( Overall, I'd still give this place another try the next time I come back to visit. read more

Rolling through Pflugerville after leaving Cranky Granny's, we stumbled upon a strip mall (POP:Pflugerville office park) that houses a few restaurants and bars. TaterQue was one of them. The restaurant has a small patio on the front. They offer hookah, so I'd advise sitting inside if you're not a fan of that. The restaurant is a whole vibe. We came on Sunday Funday, they had a DJ and a few drink specials. The menu features loaded baked potatoes, fried seafood and wings. They also offer a few slush style drinks and a limited bar. We had the Jr. sized Alamo and Springdale potatoes and the 5 piece lemon pepper wings. We had the mimosa and a slush cocktail. Our total was $61 without tip. The food came out quickly. The Alfredo sauce on the Springdale was lukewarm, the seafood was not fresh. The shrimp were soft and mealy. The entire potato was soft and mushy. I give it a 2.5. The Alamo was dry. The brisket was okay, there was a lot of it, but there wasn't much sauce, sour cream or flavor. The wings were breaded and very fatty. They were seasoned well, but the fat/breading came off and left plain chicken. The mimosa was 90% juice, the purple slush was strong. All in all, I give this place 3 stars, mostly because of the vibe. It seems like a fun place to have a cocktail and mingle, but I'd pass on the food. My partner suggested going here after riding past this place after going to a nearby Daquiri to go "Slushed". I am so glad that we decided to go back!!!! Everything was packed with flavor! No need to add anything! It was great as is!!! The seafood baked potato n boudin egg roll was my two favorite dishes! The potato is the inside of the potato with seafood on top with more potatoes n some type of cream!!! The bomb and not too much. It was soft and just enough for me! It was my birthday so I was looking for good vibes and a great time-- BOTH were had that night!! The place was jamming with the best DJ (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) I've seen in a long time, and a fun and engaging crowd. I sang at least 3 karaoke songs and the audience vibed with me each time. The DJ kept us dancing, laughing and singing all night. I didn't order food while there, but I did order sangria (individual bottles). They have a limited wine selection, but offered a variety of mixed drinks-- friendly staff members. Visited on a Sunday afternoon where you have to be 25 and up to enter after 5 PM. There was a live DJ playing the latest R&B and rap, which we were not expecting, but it was a good time. They have a wide menu ranging from stuffed potatoes, appetizers, wings, and even desserts. My party of two shared the Boudin eggrolls, a small Springdale, small Mac n cheese, along with a Jag Juice (purple daiquiri). The small was enough for two, we ate every last bite. There was no leftovers and Probably could've shared a large depending how you are. Everything was seasoned, moist and cooked to perfection. The daiquiri had a nice kick, and was not too strong or sweet. We did have to wait a little bit to let the food cool off. Me and a friend decided to try this place out for breakfast one Saturday morning. We went as soon as they opened in order to beat the crowd. I've driven by there before and there weren't even any parking spaces available lol. The restaurant is kind of small and slightly congested but they do have an outdoor seating area. There were not many people there since we got there so early. We took our time looking over the menu, went to the register, ordered, got a order number and headed to a table. Our $3 mimosas came out 1st and the food came shortly after. The food was piping hot and delicious. Everything was seasoned beautifully. Even the eggs had a little salt and pepper on them already. I love that lol. You could really taste all the seasoning in the grits and it was loaded with seafood. Can't forget about that soft fluffy waffle. Stopped in to place a to go order on a Friday night and it was definitely a lively place to be. Staff very friendly, service from order to take out was about 20 mins. There's hip hop/rap music playing and the patrons make it feel almost like a club and not a restaurant. Based off other reviews we ordered the boudin egg rolls, Mac and cheese, and two loaded baked potato options, one was the big Jack and the other the Craigwood. Hands down the Boudin egg rolls were delicious and we should've ordered two orders because I was mad I had to share. Everything was good, it hit the spot of southern comfort food that I was craving. First time stopping by TaterQue! It's in a great location, enough seating inside and outside. The decor flows nicely with the name of the business. We were immediately greeted by a young woman taking orders behind the counter. She was very friendly and pointed out her favorite items on the menu to try. My spouse and I tried the Alamo and the Springdale and both were outstanding! We shared so we could try two different ones in one day. The portion we received for a small was actually more than what we could eat. Price was reasonable, around $40 for two meals and two drinks. Nope, never again. Decided to patronize this black-owned establishment and get some good soul food. Ordered the catfish & shrimp. It came with fries. I added parmesan. The meal was $25+. You have to order at the counter. No waitstaff. Food order was pretty slow coming out. When it made it to the table, not all of it was hot. My fish was fresh, but was overly breaded and tasted ok. Shrimp was luke warm and no taste. Fries were cold and they sprinkled parmesan cheese on them. I also ordered mac n chz. It was cheesy, but overly peppered. The restaurant was really smoky and hard to breathe inside. The employees were nice. My overall opinion not favorable and I would not visit again. I think it was a bit over fried, but it was still good. My husband loved his sandwich, and for me, the runaway winners were the spud and the cornbread. The spud is HUGE, even at junior size, and it was so good. The potato was fluffy, the beans had a nice sweetness to it, and the brisket was amazing.
