If you have been to a H-E-B True Texas BBQ restaurant at one of their stores it's not that amazing of BBQ. Sorry H-E-B, my opinion this is more like a fast food BBQ. I will state this is my first one where I have enjoyed the food and it was warm to eat but not really fresh still. Presentation of the food looked so amazingly delicious. The service was fast and we used the kiosk to order. Honestly using the kiosk felt faster, but you're pretty much self check out when your using the Kiosks and you will need to requests the cups while you wait for your food or you can wait for your food to get your drinks. Plenty of fountain drink options, and beer tap options. The one thing about this location is there is only one uni-sex bathroom and the main restrooms are across the other side of the store down aisle 32. Overall, this place left a great impression compared to the rest of the True Texas BBQs I have tried. This so far the best one in my opinion.

picked up a few side items to try and make life easy. i've heard good things about this place but I wasn't too impressed. creamed corn tasted like canned corn in a bowl of mayo. potato salad was very underwhelming and missing that classic taste- not sure if it was just seasoning that was missed or what. the only semi decent thing was the blueberry cobbler but it was potentially something you can find in the frozen isle and bake at home for the same price. i've tried all 3 things at different times and not sure i'd spend money on anything from here in the future.

Went for lunch on 11/19/24. The line was a few deep and moved a little slow. They have counter people to take your order or touch screens which I used and it was easy and very quick. The food came out about 10 minutes later and was hot and fresh. They have 4 TVs to keep your eyes busy while you wait. I have eaten bbq 100s of times over the years and thought this was as good as any. I got just a 1 meat(brisket) and mac and cheese with onion rings. Loved all of it. The onion rings were amazing and not the typical frozen type many restaurants tend to use. Going back on Friday for more good stuff.

First time I tried the True Texas BBQ brisket sandwich I was very impressed. The second time I opted for the Txas Size brisket sandwhich and the brisket was good but the bun was stale. Today was my third and final visit. Again I ordered the Texas size brisket sandwhich. The bun was stale and completely flat and the brisket was not sliced, just big hunks of dry brisket. What started out as merriage in heaven ended in divorce. No thankd HEB!

Large eat-in space or you can take items to go. The kiosks are placed too close to the in-person ordering counter that it creates confusion for folks in line. Staff are friendly and patient, even when things got busy. Turkey was delicious and moist, so full of flavor! I honestly couldn't believe it. Brisket was pretty good. We got the fatty kind and the fat layers were substantial. Good flavor. Brisket chili was okay. Flavor was top notch, but brisket chunks in chili were cut too large. Brisket beans were so very delicious. Collard greens were pretty good - slightly muted flavor which worked against all the other flavors across other items. Mac & cheese was outstanding. I don't normally like mac & cheese, but this caught my attention. Burnt ends were served covered in sauce so you didn't really get the burnt end flavor or experience.

When you come to Central Texas, there's only one grocery store you need to know about: H-E-B. They do so many things so well, including their private label store brands. This extends to their in-store restaurants. I was shopping at the new store in Pflugerville and stopped in for a bite at True Texas BBQ. For an in-store outlet it's pretty impressive with a huge dining room and a counter with eight craft or local beers on tap. They have a pretty wide ranging menu and while I can't attest to all of the items, the barbecue that I tried was excellent. I got the one meat plate and received a decent portion of moist brisket along with brisket beans, and collard greens. The brisket was good with a beautiful smoke ring. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but considering this is a fast food outlet it really stands out and is better than some standalone restaurants. One thing that was a surprise was the beans with big chunks of their brisket and a very nicely spiced bean concoction. The collard greens were OK but probably not better than what you might find at Cracker Barrel. The service here is friendly as you'd expect from H-E-B and I didn't have to wait long for my food. Overall, the value for the price is outstanding. This is definitely a great stop for a quick lunch or dinner, especially if you have to go pick up some groceries. Highly recommended.

What a surprise... humble signage, tucked in to a humble shopping center and followed by a humble cashier who was indeed the owner and smoker of said amazing brisket! The smell drew me in but is not always a sign of a well smoked brisket. I was also put off at first by the $30/lb brisket ....however. After talking to the cashier, haven't being sold on a plate yet, he uses mesquite, truly smokes it and it's not a traeger or cheater pellet smoker. Smoker for view "out back"! Mesquite wood from southwest! Being a West Texas Native it peaked my curiosity. It's so hard to smoke with mesquite. It burns hot, can be bitter if not seasoned before burning, and takes time working with it. It is a penetrating smoke and can absolutely be over smoked easily. I had the $14.99 brisket plate. About 7 thick cut slices that come with mustard tater salad, onions and pickles, True CHARRO beans (soap salad on top for you weird cilantro haterzs), and a fountain drink. Beans in a separate container so it doesn't contaminate everything else. ***A surprisingly good value compared to the WAY OVERPRICED AND OVER PROUD smokers in the Austin area.**** Lord have mercy.... I inspected the delectable sliced morsels... thick cut, glistening with brisklet juice (grease), bark, good smoke ring. I picked it up expecting it to fall apart...I pulled at it and still didn't really fall apart. I thought, "ok, a little firm?..." oh hell no! I bit in and it literally melted in my mouth. Brisket and smoke and flavors...consistency to perfection! Bark was black and good, but not hard for you bark snobs. It wasn't wet, so not a boiled brisket. It had a smoke ring so my guess is maybe it was finished wrapped. The smoke ring on my slices was visible but not really past maybe 1/2 inch? ... could just be where my slices were in relation to the smoke flow...but, it was NOT without flavor throughout. Hard core brisket aficionados, this brisket sets the bar. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's absolutely the expectation for a good representation of what Texas Brisket should be. Anything less is a waste of protein, anything better is a work of art. Consistency is King, and this was a fast 1st run. Updates to follow for sure. I'm already passing the word on this hidden spot.

Both on the lighter side as far as body goes on the spectrum which is as we desired while being in hotter country to what we are typically accustomed to. One of the beers we had here was the Celis White which is a witbier. I do like this beer type quite a bit and yet don't come across it very often which makes this a nice treat to have. With this beer in the flavor features there is a Belgiany presence along with citrus. The beer has a clean finish which is something I always appreciate. The beer is light bodied and smooth. The other beer we had was the Honey Blonde. Another kind of beer I enjoy and especially during the warmer months as it's a lighter sort of beer like the previous one we had. The flavor features with this beer are wheat, honey and a hint of sour. The beer is light bodied and crushable which kind of means it's a very easy beer to drink and very enticing to get another of the same thing after the first. Celis Brewery provided a good, solid beer experience for us which was nice and help make our trip all the more pleasurable.
