Sign from the former name, they recently changed their branding, but still delivering the fantastic food

I stopped by on a lazy afternoon and the place was almost empty, but did have a couple of tables enjoying the wonderful barbecue put out by Stack city. I love the vibe of this place even though they've changed their branding. They still deliver it. Outstanding food, friendly staff and wonderful and satisfying cold beer.

The food was very good. The service was average, nothing special. Cleanliness was acceptable but not outstanding. The bathrooms were clean. The only downside is that the prices felt quite high for the overall experience.

One of my top 5 BBQ experiences EVER! The restaurant is adorable (and even the ladies room has great art - and a changing table), and it was very clean. The staff was really nice, and the food could NOT have been better. I had the El Jefe (with Frito's); my husband had the Original P.I.G. (with extra pickles) - both on a jalepeno cheddar roll; and we shared a small mac & cheese. OMG. It was so good! The meat was succulent and not greasy. The sauces were flavorful and not cloying. I was especially impressed by the large pieces of peppers in my sandwich. The smoked gouda in the mac & cheese was incomparable. We were both full after eating about half our food but ate it all because it was so delicious. We only went for one BBQ meal on our trip to Texas, and this was it. If you're only going to have one BBQ meal in Texas, this is the place to go.

EASIEST 5 stars I've given. SLAB makes really delicious BBQ meats, sides, sauces, and of course don't forget the banana pudding! Around $51 for 3 mains (1/4 lb brisket, 1/4 lb cheddar sausage, 1/2 lb ribs) and 3 sides (small Mac & Cheese, medium Potato Salad, and small Cole Slaw). Everything is amazing. The meat is super soft, smokey, and amazing. The sides are fresh and flavorful and the mac & cheese is creamy and decadent. They also make 4 types of BBQ sauce. The staff are super nice, they even gave us a few banana puddings - they were super sweet and rich Order at counter and they bring out your food for you.

Green bean casserole and the banana pudding are an absolute MUSTTTTT. This is my first time in Austin, Texas so I decided to have some menu items from here for to-go dinner that peaked my interest. The Texas trill with both sausage and brisket is delicious! THEY DO NOT SKIMP ON THE MEAT! I got the sauce on the side, but in retrospect I should've just had the sauce in the sandwich already. The green bean casserole was by far my favorite side. I got a free banana pudding with Uber eats and it was absolutely delicious. It's been 12 hours since I ate this and I'm still thinking about this meal. I think it'll be in my dreams tonight.

I'd forgotten we went here before and am happy to report that the food is still rocking! This time I had some ribs (1/2 slab) and some coleslaw (spicy and different, I liked it)- it was late in the evening so I didn't want to over do it - ha ha! And we also got one of their delicious sandwiches the chicken one I believe, with some beans (too sweet for us) and some potato salad (just right!) . The place was strangely empty when we got there around 8pm so service was suuuper fast! Then a couple other tables got there but they close at 9 so maybe that was probably why. Anyway our ribs were soft and flavorful- we got the sauce on the side, and were glad we did or it might have been too sweet for our taste. The restaurant was very neat and clean looking, de ambiance was a bit lacking because we were the only people there, but that's also good as we got to eat uninterrupted and quietly. There's something positive about that/ the quiet enjoyment of your ribs... yummm! Def great food! Dis you know Guy Fiery was here? Enjoy!

Stopped in early afternoon so there was no crowd. I wanted meat! So I got the brisket, ribs and sausage. Sides are beans and green bean casserole. Everything was so delicious, staff were also extremely nice!

Meet me on Thursday for Ribs Thursday where they are half off till they sell out. Not only is it a great deal, but i love the sweet sauce they make the ribs with. It reminds me of brown sugar or something sweet like that. But also the Notorious B.I.G. and the other options here are never a bad choice. Let's get real for a second... I've been a fan since before the brick and mortar (and that's a very long time).

I stopped by SLAB yesterday afternoon with my family, and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by Jon, who was extremely friendly and hospitable. He offered great suggestions as we navigated the menu, and we ended up ordering one pound of St. Louis ribs, one pound of sausage, and half a pound of brisket, along with sides of mac and cheese and baked beans. The mac and cheese was nice and cheesy with a subtle smoky flavor, and the baked beans were a great complement to the meat. The ribs came with a strawberry habanero glaze on the side that was sweet with a nice fiery kick. We also ordered the BBQ nachos, which were surprisingly the highlight of the meal -- the flavor combination was incredible. We finished things off with banana pudding for dessert, which was light and fluffy and came with a fun cookie featuring a rapper's face. Overall, we had a fantastic food experience and I can't wait to return. Parking was easy since the restaurant is in a large lot, and the atmosphere was great with plenty of seating, good music playing, and a very friendly staff.

Our visit to SLAB Barbecue in Austin, Texas was nothing short of outstanding and let me be clear: the trip was 100% worth the drive from our vacation house on Lake Travis in Texas. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere pulled us in. The space had that warm, welcoming Texas vibe, mixed with a hip-hop and modern flair that made it feel fun, relaxed, and full of personality. The music set the tone, the décor was playful and bold, and it truly felt like a place where food and culture meet. Now let's talk about the food because WOW. We tried a little bit of everything, and every single item delivered. The beef was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor smoked perfectly and sliced just right. The sausage links had the perfect snap, with a spicy kick that was bold but not overpowering absolutely delicious. The ribs were smoky, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The sauce deserves its own moment a beautiful sweet-and-spicy balance that complemented every bite without overpowering the meat. But here's the surprise of the night THE NACHOS. We did not see that coming. The nachos were hands-down one of the stars of the entire meal -- loaded with tender meat, melted cheese, jalapeños, onions, pickles, and drizzled sauce. Every bite was bold, messy in the best way, and packed with flavor. If you go to SLAB, do not skip the nachos. And yes... dessert sealed the deal. The banana pudding was rich, creamy, nostalgic, and next-level delicious topped with a fun Notorious B.I.G. detail that perfectly matched the hip-hop theme. Such a creative and tasty finish to the meal. Even the drinks stood out the fountain drink station had so many flavor options that it was honestly hard to choose. A small detail, but it added to the overall experience. Lastly, I have to give a huge shout-out to John, the manager. John was top-notch welcoming, attentive, and full of genuine hospitality. He truly brought the aloha spirit to the heart of Texas.. and at one point it honestly felt like we were back in Hawaii. That kind of warmth and service makes a great meal unforgettable. Final Verdict: Food: Service: Atmosphere: 100% recommended. If you're anywhere near Austin or even a drive away SLAB BBQ is a must-visit. We will absolutely be

    Yelp Event!

Came to SLAB for a Yelp Elite event & WOW!! From the moment I walked in, I knew SLAB BBQ & Beer was something special. We had a chance to meet the owner, hear his story, and see firsthand how his passion for authenticity and flavor has shaped this spot since 2006. Inspired by Carolina pork, he's been perfecting his craft ever since, earning recognition from Travel Channel, Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, Man vs. Food, and The Texas Bucket List (to name a few). The Food - Bold, Unique, and Downright Delicious. We had 5 courses in our tasting: 1. Nachos: SLAB's nachos aren't just any nachos--they were ranked in the top 21 in the country. Each chip is meticulously layered with cheese to ensure every bite is packed with flavor. Pairs well with Zilkers Parks n Rec Pale Ale. 2. St. Louis Pork Ribs with Strawberry Habanero Sauce: Available half-off on Wednesday evenings, these ribs are incredibly tender, fall right off the bone, and have a subtle strawberry sweetness without overpowering heat. Pair it with a Zilker Hazy IPA for a perfect combo. 3. El Jefe Sliders - Tex-Mex Brisket Perfection: One of the owner's personal favorites and even specifically requested by Guy Fieri, this slider is an explosion of flavors. With brisket, queso, and peppers on locally sourced buns, every bite is the perfect mix of crunch, smokiness, and rich, cheesy goodness. Enjoy it with Zilker Marco IPA, their top-selling beer. 4. Banh Mi: Named after Houston rapper and Legend, Bun B. Fun fact: Bun even came to Austin to try it! This banh mi is packed with pork belly burnt ends, fresh veggies, and house sauces, all on a soft hoagie roll. It pairs well with Zilkers Icy Boys Rice Lager--light and crisp to balance the richness. 4.5: Mac & Cheese: This isn't just any mac & cheese--it's finished in the smoker for that extra layer of smoky, cheesy goodness. It also happens to be SLAB's best selling item! 5. Banana Pudding: This dessert is next-level addictive. With hip-hop & rapper cookies and a creamy, indulgent texture, it's the perfect way to end a meal. Pair it with Zilker's new Mole Beer, a rich and complex brew with deep flavors reminiscent of a stout or porter. Atmosphere - Beyond the food, SLAB BBQ embraces Austin's local culture and pays homage to Houston. The walls are decorated with graffiti from local artists, and they support Austin businesses like Zilker Brewing for tastings. And let's not forget their signature upside-down beer pouring contraption--a fun touch that adds to the experience. Final Verdict? A Must-Visit BBQ Spot! Whether you're here for the legendary ribs, the famous sliders, or just a cold beer with great vibes, SLAB BBQ delivers. Every dish is crafted with intention--ensuring the perfect bite every time. If you're in Austin and love BBQ with personality, this place is a no-brainer.

Chef Marco presenting different tasting courses
    Ang F.

Pro Tip: Get to know Chef Marco, he has a dope story . Slow, low, and Banging (SLAB), featured in Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins, has a different touch, for sure. Everything on the menu was some kind of story - whether it's a childhood favorite made into a slider or Nana's Mac. Especially cool about this place is the attention to Hip-Hop. You'll find 90s hip hop cameos on the graffiti-art walls and even in the banana pudding. No joke, you can have a Biggie, Tupac or Eazy-E shaped cookie. Like I said, dope! Smoked Gouda Mac favored over the Creamed corn. Glazed Ribs with a Strawberry Habanero Glaze, a little dry, but enjoyably lean (mostly all meat). Don't miss out on the loaded chips, though. And they're a huge portion! Pairs well with the Zilker Parks & Rec pale ale.

Enjoyed a yelp tasting event to explore the menu with beer pairings. Because of this experience I have a new spot to take guests that want good but accessible bbq when they visit. It was a great experience and everyone was so helpful. They had a wide range of beers for everyone with a cool technology that fills the glass from the bottom Nachos - sooo good, honestly can't wait to have again Rib - had this strawberry habanero glaze that wasn't spicy and the meat fell off the bone.... Sooooo good El Jefe - my favorite! The simple Fritos for crunch really sold me. Such fresh ingredients used too Street corn - a bit mayo-y Smoked Mac - intensely smoky and noodles were super soft, maybe overcooked Mini bahn b - my least fav just because it was overly smothered in sauce Nana pudding - I'm typically particular about my banana pudding but this was a good restaurant version, loved the shortbread cookie addition

We also got a strawberry Jell-O shot too. Which was really good. Would totally get 2 of those next time. I ordered crab rangoon's, but they looked different from what you would normally get at a Chinese restaurant. Just shaped differently. Flavor was great. Their dipping sauce was good too. I think there was 5, and we shared. They do play music, on a high tech jukebox, so you get to pick and choose the songs. Some people have a very different idea of music. Yeah, its a pretty standard sports bar, but they have some interesting food items and a pretty killer beer list. We went with the onion rings which was the highlight of the meal. They were perfectly sized and crunchy! Great call! I went with the Irish Potato which was basically a giant baked potato topped with Shepard's pie. I am not a big shepard's pie kind of guy, but I thought it added quite a bit to the potato so I was happy with my pick! My buddy got the fish and chips. There was only one fish and he said it wasn't particularly warm. That was a bummer along with it taking forever to get service here.
