Everything about this restaurant is perfection. The restaurant itself has plenty of seating and a large bar area. The space is decorated with an urban rustic decor and the walls are covered in Austin specific Art work. The service was great as well. We were seated right away, our server was great and our food and drinks came out quickly. The best part is the food. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked amazing with generous portions. I ate off of the brunch menu, the barbacoa eggs benedict is served on a fried green tomato and every part of it was a delicious combination. The eggs, barbacoa and fried green tomato were all perfectly cooked and the combination of flavors was absolutely amazing. I paired my brunch with a margarita infused with watermelon, this too was perfectly made and delicious. This was a wonderful meal in a comfortable dining space where the food truly tastes as good as it looks. read more

Met a colleague for lunch here last week. Jack Allen's is always a good and easy spot for business lunches. No one was in the back, covered, air conditioned patio so we got a seat there which made it easier for us to hear each other. We ordered the fried green tomatoes to share. She ordered a salad. I ordered the special of the day which was a crispy salmon bowl, which wasn't what I expected. It was more fried than crispy in my opinion. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. Other than that the service was great and I'm sure I'll be back here again! read more

A Lunch Trifecta I just had "lunch" at Jack Allen's on Anderson Lane, though in truth this experience could be better described as a "multidimensional trifecta." My friend and I braved the recent Central Texas deluge to visit one of my favorite foodie havens. 1. The Meal Looking for comfort, I ordered my go-to dish, the grilled trout with sun-dried tomato walnut pesto, apple-pecan relish, veggie-studded rice, and wilted spinach. 2. The Service Formerly of North Italia-Domain, my favorite server (maybe in the Universe), Victoria, provided her signature overly-abundant and exquisite service -- I heard the owner knew of her and hired her on the spot when she walked in not long ago. Great food service. Uplifting conversation. Time stood still. 3. The Dessert (like the "tesseract" from Madeleine L'Engle's classic sci-fi novel, A Wrinkle in Time) Upon Victoria's recommendation, I ordered the "TX Chocolate Sheet Cake" -- One layer of rich Chocolate cake with Dr Pepper and TX Buttermilk baked in. Topped with chocolate ganache and toasted TX pecans. Served with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and raspberry sauce. Not quite like DMT, but .... Suffice it to say, I'm a new regular at the Anderson Lane Jack's. Now, I probably need to go cross-post this on the "r/Experiencers" subreddit. read more

Excellent margaritas. The service is a notch above the rest of Austin's other restaurants. The fat Jack burger is very good. The barrira quesadillas are heavy on the meat, which we like. Guacamole has extra ingredients that give it some crunch, very good. The trout is always good. read more

Christmas Eve...Date Night...Catch up time (The Trifecta)! While we had very little preparations for Christmas day, we decided to have a nice dinner before the big day. Surprisingly, it was not an original idea as Jack Allen's on West Anderson was packed and buzzing. We had the pleasure of having Wiley as our server. He exuded southern hospitality and was super friendly. Both the hubs and I had fried catfish and Cole slaw along with guacamole and chips as appetizer. Jack Allen's also provides a complimentary perminto cheese appetizer. The catfish was especially fresh, lightly fried and super flavorful. I normally give my hubby my Cole slaw and I eat more of the guacamole. All in all, it was a great meal with excellent service. I am sure we will be back to visit. The food is consistently good and service is always great! read more

Had Bang Bang Shrimp Bowl, Chicken Fried Pork Chop and Green Chili Tortilla Soup. The service was pretty quick for a holiday lunch, but I gotta say the food was a bit disappointing. Everything was way too salty, we could barely finish our dishes. read more

Jack Allen's is always a favorite. We really like their varied menu and there is always something for someone. I had the 13 spice chicken pasta, which was 'good' but wouldn't be a favorite only because there was no real 'bold' taste out of the 13 spices claimed. But, I wanted to try something different and I did and don't regret it. The waitstaff are always pleasant and give the appearance they like their jobs. read more

Came here today for brunch. Nice atmosphere and staff was very friendly. Two of us had miga's, two had pancakes, and one had barbacoa enchiladas. All the food was good, but the pancakes were by far the most popular. read more

Every time I go the food is really good and really reasonable priced for the quality. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there.

Forget this place! They prices went up like $4-$5 on everything so it's basically unaffordable. Drinks for $1 off?! Pathetic. For these prices the portions seem tiny compared to what we paid before. I realize the economy is bad, but Jack Allen's broke their business model and drove out their loyal customers... Or they are failing due to other budget issues. Either way, you won't be happy after you see your bill now. The prices are ridiculous. read more

Great food and service and drinks and the menu is different from all other restaurants. Good background music

This is a great ALL AROUND restaurant mainly focused on Cajun food with some Mexican style options. One feature @ Jack Allen's is that Happy Hour is on Sunday which we had never seen b4~ Usually your dining experience starts with pimento dip~ not something I would normally gravitate to, but it's pretty dang good as is the full bar we like a lil something before or with our dinner. The pork chop is my husbands fav & while the menu has lots of options he seems to lean towards that everytime I mix it up however the stewed chicken tacos (may sound odd) are quite DELISSSH. As is the guacamole The atmosphere is welcoming & the staff are all friendly. Nice large & FREE parking lot located off Anderson. read more

I haven been wanting to try this place for a while and finally had an opportunity. Everything is fresh and locally sourced (bonus) and so delicious!!! My mom and I both had salads that were giant and the amount of protein on them was a lot- nothing skimped on. Our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was relaxing and clean. The only thing I would change is more local drafts. Besides their seasonal, they were all the norm you find most places (and I live in New Braunfels), and I wanted more options that were a little less mainstream. I did enjoy the Lazarus Brewing Pils, though! I will definitely return when in the area! read more

While in town I wanted to try something new and this place was a great choice. The atmosphere and decor were consistent throughout with the dim lighting adding to the ambiance. Our waiter was attentive and offered some great recommendations. The margaritas are definitely a hit and the perfect combination of sweet and spice. I ordered the chicken pasta it was very creamy I wish it had a little more flavor but overall was a solid dish. I would love to go back. read more

I used to love this place, but it seems like it needs a menu facelift. I've always had wonderful service while there, but the food just doesn't seem to do it anymore. The last couple times we've gone everything was incredibly salty, which to me is almost the old "salt it more so they drink more" theory. I sent back the food last time I went. I will say the pimento cheese never fails, but I can't write a glorious review about a tablespoon of processed cheese and three pita chips. It has a cool vibe, but I just think the menu needs to be refreshed and back off on the salt and preservatives. read more

Service was fantastic! We were a party of 7 and in no rush. Our server took great care of us. We didn't have to ask for much as he kept anticipating our needs. My friends ordered a variety of things catfish, chicken, salad, special wild mushroom enchiladas (no longer available) which they said was divine. The only downside ***for me*** is there are limited vegetarian options other than salads. Five stars for the carnivores. My friends really love all their locations in the area. I usually just agree to go along. As far as the menu, it would be nice to see a list of side orders versus having to read through all the entrees to see what can be ordered. I mean I get they want people to order the entrees, but sometimes you want small bites other than appetizers. read more

Visited Wednesday, 12/03/2025, about 7 p.m. I came to Austin for a few days for work. I'm actually planning on moving from Houston to Austin in early 2026. It seemed like they were really busy, which is obviously a good sign. Ordered curbside, which was a reasonable wait given the business. Received curbside order and went back to the hotel about a 7 minute drive. Not utensils were provided despite requesting. Bread was a little soggy, but chicken tasted good. No real complaints on the taste. Fries didn't taste very fresh. But, wasn't a big deal. The chicken was good and had nice flavoring to it. About an hour after consuming I developed a pretty brutal upset stomach I can't point to a specific trait of the food. It just happened within close timing after eating. There could've been something wrong with the food or there could've been an unknown ingredient that could've caused it. Therefore, I am not having this affect my review. I try to be as fair as possible to every review. read more

I had an amazing experience at Jack Allen's. We made a reservation and were promptly seated with a great server. I ordered the Killer Burger with Swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes. I really liked the way my burger was cooked and the flavors of everything. I ordered a mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries and loved the regular fries! This a great place to go with a family because it's lively without being too loud to hear one another. I can also see this being a great place for a dinner with co workers or even a date night! We came here for a casual dinner and it was perfect as well! It's Austin so there's no dresscode but feel free to dress up! I've been here a handful of times and never had a bad experience here! I have yet to save room for dessert but their menu (the server's memorize the menu!) sounds amazing! read more

Mid afternoon so the restaurant was not crowded and didn't need a reservation nor did we wait. Hostess and server were both attentive. We split a wedge salad which is sufficient quantity to split although needed additional dressing. Chicken fried chicken and chicken fried pork chop are our fav dinner choices which we hadn't treated ourselves to in a while so ordered those. Special was nothing enticing. The veggies which go with the dish were obviously just made so the zucchini was not overcooked. Coconut cream pie with a few strawberries was the chosen dessert. Very tasty., Recommend read more

Ambiance: 4/5: nothing too special about the ambiance. It has your typical American restaurant feel. Service: 5/5: Our waiter was really friendly and attentive. Came around our table a couple of times to make sure we were doing ok. Food: 5/5: I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it was a lot better than what I was expecting. Its a dish a would probably get again. Drinks: 4/5: Ordered the espresso martini. I liked that the martini glass was a big larger than a regular martini glass, but the taste wasn't all there. Overall a good experience. I'll most likely come back. read more

Came in for brunch. We did not have a reservation but we were seated with a really short wait time which was great. Service was not consistent. We ordered two Cucumber jalapeño Ritas and as you can see from the pictures, they were made differently. One has cucumbers and no jalapeños, and one has jalapeños and no cucumbers. This is the same drink made at the same bar, delivered at the same. We had to ask for some jalapeños to add to the drink that was missing them. The chicken dish was nice and hot and crunchy and delicious according to the person in my party that ordered it. I ordered the barbacoa stackers as my entree. The nacho chip part was wet and soggy. I had to pick it out to eat the barbacoa and the coleslaw veggies. The meat was cold and left a carpet of cold grease in my mouth. Parking was great. At our dining time, there was plenty of parking spots. This was my first experience at this location. read more

I come to this location at least twice a week. But today you had the laziest and rudest person that I have ever met there. The usual ladies were not working because they are always on point. I had a curb side order for 3:25. I park and send at text and wait 10 minutes. No response. So I walk in and see the place is dead with about 5 customers sitting. I tell the young lady I'm there for a pick up and she just continues to stare at her computer and point me to the bar. Absolutely terrible customer service! I won't be back for while. read more

Visited Jack Allen's on my 2023 list of "Veterans Day Freebies". Came here last year and it was memorable. Any entree on the menu is free for veterans. I want to take a minute and recognize this organization for the way they honor veterans. Some have a select menu, some just give you bits of their menu, but not Jack Allen's. They offer any, yes any entree free to veterans. That is honorable. I tried the "New York Strip Steak" and my wife had the "Tom's House salad". My steak had a slight hint of too much pepper, but that's just my sensitivity. Over all the taste was great. Lots of flavor and the steak was juicy. I had them put the gravy in the side, that's why it looks so bare. Thumbs up for this meal. My wife had the Tom's House Salad, with Cilantro Chicken. Their salads are always consistently fresh and good. She found the chicken was cooked perfectly. I could see her doing the happy dance as she ate. The service staff was amazing. Marcy our server was helpful. She knew the menu well and offered some great recommendations. Our food was brought to us by another server, Jose. He was so sincere in his appreciation of my military service. He took the time to recommended two of their fresh made hot sauces. Both were literally "eye opening"! On the way out, meet some of the executives, nice to see them out on a day like today. Thank you Jack Allen for all you do for our community. Came here during happy hour, and I really enjoyed the food because the portions were good, the flavors and texture were there and the prices were just very reasonable. My favorite thing was the sun-dried tomato ravioli because you dip the garlic bread in the sauce and it's so decadent. I also got the crab dip and the catfish, which was perfectly breaded the sauce accompanied it well. And overall our server was very friendly and the restaurant was clean.
